Powers/Abilities: The Knights of Wundagore
are animals evolved and mutated into humanoid conformation by
the High Evolutionary.
Many of them have enhanced
human strength, speed, and reflexes. Many of them have enhanced
olfactory and auditory senses, as well as enhanced nocturnal
vision. See individual profiles for individual abilities.
Knights of Wundagore have
been trained and experienced in armed and unarmed combat, wore
armor, often wielding a sword and possibly a lasso-launching
hand-weapon and/or a bola.
They fly atop atomic steeds,
upon which they wielded a lance,
possibly one that could expand to have a pair of arms ending in
u-shapes, which could be used to pin a victim's arms against a
wall or other structure.

(Thor I#135 (fb)) - After establishing a base atop Mount
Wundagore in Transia, the High Evolutionary used his
evolutionary ray to create a number of New Men, including Sir
Porga, Count Tagar, Sir Lepard, Sir Ossilot, and at least one
undentified other.
(Thor I#135 (fb) - BTS) - The Evolutionary taught
his New Men language, science, biology, and history.
(Thor I#135 (fb) / Uncanny X-Men Annual#12/3 (fb)
- BTS) - The Magnus-possessed Drew convinced Wyndham to train
his New Men to become highly-skilled, highly principled warriors
as the Knights of Wundagore.
Although Wyndham was
dubious about this, he soon saw that the striving to teach them
the code of honor and chivalry was the ideal way to instill the
code of conduct in the uncultured creatures.
(Thor I#135 (fb)) - To lead the Knights, Wyndham
began calling himself the High Evolutionary.
(Tales to Astonish I#94 (fb)) - As the
Evolutionary proclaimed that they would live there undisturbed
by humans, his Knights hailed the High Evolutionary as their
noble master.
(Uncanny X-Men Annual#12/3 (fb) - BTS) - For over
a decade, Wyndham continued to create New Men, and the
Magnus-possessed Drew continued to supervise their training as
knights.
(Uncanny X-Men Annual#12/3) <1958> -
Watching over the newest knights-in-training, Wyndham
congratulated "Drew," noting that they appeared to be the most
skilled fighters that he had yet to instruct, but Magnus
countered that the honor belonged to Wyndham, as his children
grew more advanced with each generation.
Magnus then called the warriors
to them, and the Evolutionary knighted them all, noting that
these six brought their number to forty-two. He then dismissed
the knights, telling them that he would assemble the round table
and prepare the feast of ascension.

  (Uncanny X-Men Annual#12/3) - As the full-term
pregnant Magda approached, having fled to escape her husband,
the future Magneto, she passed out upon seeing Sir Gote, who
brought her into the citadel.
After Bova took over Magda's
care, Sir Gote informed the High Evolutionary, who advised they
limit the gypsy woman's contact with the New Men to just Bova
and Sir Gote.
Magnus-Drew then appreciated
Chthon's presence and soon after realized that Russoff had used
the Darkhold
to perform the Spell of Ascension and to summon Chthon.
Ordered to scout the area on
their atomic steeds, Sir Lepard, Sir Ursus and three other
Knights of Wundagore were briefly buffetted by harsh winds
before being confronted by the malevolent force of the Other
(the elemental host of Chthon).

Although the Knights flew to
challenge it, the Other considered them to be like gnats before
him, and that even the blasts from their lances were but matches
before a raging inferno.
In response, the Other used
winds to smash them against the mountainside.
Magnus then possessed Russoff
and began to recite the Darkhold's Spell of Binding.
(Avengers I#187 (fb) / Uncanny X-Men Annual#12/3)
- Although Chthon attempted to stop Magnus, after two hours, the
two-pronged assault from Magnus' spell and the Knights fighting
alongside the High Evolutionary resulted in Chthon being trapped
again within Mount Wundagore,
although he had been able to bond with the infant who would
become Wanda Maximoff (see comments).

Although proclaiming victory, the High Evolutionary appreciated
that half of his noble knights had perished in the conflict.
(Web of Spider-Man I Annual#4/2) - Presumably the
next morning, as Sir Hogg lamented his brethran's deaths, the
High Evolutionary surveyed the dead and wounded. Kneeling over
the fallen Sir Hystrix, the Evolutionary noted that that made 17
of his 42 beloved New Men who had died the night before.
The Evolutionary further
considered that he had casually had them trained as warriors and
that they might have been better to have never known what it was
like to be human than to come to this end.
Magnus-Drew then revealed to
the Evolutionary the corpse of Russoff (carried there by a pair
of Knights, one of whom was possibly Sir Ram), detailing his own
involvement against Chthon as well as Russoff's fate. Magnus
subsequently departed, announcing his intentions to relinquish
Drew's body and return his spirit to his grave.

(Scarlet Witch II#11 (fb) - BTS) <Approximately
25 years before the main story> - Abiding in Serbia, Natalya
apparently gave her newborn twins -- despite, or perhaps,
because she loved them so much -- to a relative and fellow Roma
to raise as her own and to keep safe from the perils that her
own life saw all too often.
(Scarlet Witch II#11 (fb)) - Seeking the perfect
children with latent powers that he could augment for his own
reasons, the High Evolutionary sent his Knights of Wundagore to
attack regions of Transia before going forth into neighboring
countries.

When the Knights of
Wundagore attacked Serbia, Father Drobnjak learned the reasons
for the assaults. Aware of the children of the witch (Natalya
Maximoff) and figuring that they might be special, Drobnjak
provided their location (and that of the woman raising them).
Taking the children, the High Evolutionary and his Knights left
in peace.
Seeking to recover her
children, Natalya went after the High Evolutionary on Mount
Wundagore. Although something about the mountain sapped her
powers, Natalya fought with what power she had, defeating all
Knights of Wundagore she encountered. Ultimately, she went down
fighting.
(Scarlet Witch II#14 (fb) - BTS) - The
unidentified father of Natalya's twins was responsible for
Natalya's death.

(Thor I#135 (fb)) - The Evolutionary eventually instructed
Tagar and Porga to seek out and find someone from the outside world to
teach their increasing band of knight errants as he had taught the
earliest New Men.
(Thor I#132-134) - Sir Porga and Count Tagar transported
Jane Foster to Mount Wundagore to act as the desired teacher.
(Thor I#134) - When they were assaulted by a band of
raiders who had heard of great wealth in Wundagore, Tagar savagely
attacked and began to overpower the bandits. A group of Knights of
Wundagore came to their aid, incapacitating the bandits with bola and
lance weapons.
(Thor I#134 (fb) - BTS) - During the struggle, one of the
Knights' helmets was knocked loose, and his bestial appearance terrified
the criminals.
(Thor I#134 - BTS) - Investigating Jane's disappearance
via a Rigellian tracking device, Thor traveled to Transia near
Wundagore, and he encountered the criminals, who noted they had been
attacked from above, but they were too shaken to tell what "impossible"
sight they had seen under one of their attackers' helmets.
(Thor
I#134) - As Thor arrived, the Knights of Wundagore -- including Sir
Lepard, Sir Lyan, and Sir Ossilot -- detected and approached him via the
Atomic Steeds, after which they lassoed him. Certain they would bring
him to Jane, Thor allowed them to bring him into the High Evolutionary's
Citadel, after which he tossed the Knights around when they refused to
release him. The Knights soon agreed to stop fighting and discuss
matters, and -- at Thor's request -- one of them removed his helmet,
revealing his true nature.
When Thor forced his way in to confront
the High Evolutionary, the distraction caused the Evolutionary's
wolf-subject to be over-exposed to Isotope C.
After the energies around the wolf
caused an explosion, the High Evolutionary noted how the wolf would be
evolved farther than he had ever dared to go before. Sir Ossilot asked
if the Evolutionary could not halt the machine, but the Evolutionary
noted that the rays were now deadly to him and that it was too late.
Rendered both mad/malevolent and
uncontrollably powerful, the wolf (identified as the Man-Beast) plotted
to destroy those around him. 
(Thor I#135) - After the Man-Beast attacked Thor, the High
Evolutionary told his Knights -- including Sir Lepard, Sir Lyan, Sir
Ossilot, and at least two others -- to stand back as he attempted to
destroy the Man-Beast with his sub-sonic discordion.
Although pained, the Man-Beast instead
fled until he was out of range of the weapon and then locked himself
within the Evolutionary's genetic laboratory, which contained his
evolutionary ray.
As at least one Knight, possibly Sir
Ossilot, watched, the Evolutionary threw some object against the wall to
demonstrate that the Man-Beast had created an anti-matter barrier to
prevent them from breaching his vault.
By the time the Evolutionary used his
induction device to force the Man-Beast to confront them, the Man-Beast
had already created a number of his own New Men, who then engaged Thor
and the Evolutionary.
Donning his cathode
gloves, Count Tagar led the Knights of Wundagore to enage the New
Men. After Thor subdued the Man-Beast, the Knights forced the rest of
the New Men into the Evolutionary's Star Chamber, which then transported
them to the "galaxy Dromisana."
(Thor I#135) - Deciding that they would continue to
endanger mankind if they remained on Wundagore, the High Evolutionary
instructed Thor and Jane Foster to depart. With his citadel in the form
of a starship, the Evolutionary piloted it to depart Earth.

West Coast Avengers Annual#3/3 (fb)) - Deciding that his New
Men/Knights of Wundagore would continue to endanger mankind if
they remained on Earth, the High Evolutionary took his citadel
-- which had been constructed in the form of a starship by Dr.
Horace Grabsheid -- and departed with his Knights.
(West Coast Avengers Annual#3/3 (fb)) - There were
38 Knights of Wundagore aboard the Evolutionary's
Citadel-turned-ship as it departed Mount Wundagore. Eventually
-- after traveling through hyperspace --the Evolutionary's
ship...

Astonish I#94/2 (fb) - BTS) - ...emerged near an apparently
hospitable star system, and they landed on a near-Earth-like
planet.

Avengers Annual#3/3 (fb) - BTS) - ...and they (re)built the
city, adapting it to their use.
(Iron Man I#111 (fb) - BTS) - The Evolutionary and
his Knights encountered the giant praying mantis-like creatures.
As these creatures made no use
of the world's riches, the High Evolutionary banished them to
the swamps.
The swamp creatures, as they
were referred to, would periodically trap unwary travelers. Few
reportedly survived such encounters.

Annual#3/3 (fb)) - Meanwhile, the High Evolutionary used the
menagerie of animals contained in his citadel to evolve a female
of each species he had already evolved for his knights.
 (West Coast Avengers Annual#3/3 (fb)) - The
High Evolutionary presented the women to his knights to act as
their wives.
The Evolutionary told the
couples to go forth into the new city and to be fruitful and
multiply; he further advised them that he had exhausted his
stores and that from then on, they would be responsible for
replenishing their numbers.
(Tales to Astonish I#94/2 (fb) - BTS) - Their
little civilization thrived and flourished in peace and
prosperity initially.
(West Coast Avengers Annual#3/3 (fb) - BTS) - The
High Evolutionary left his charges to their own pursuits as he
remained in his laboratory and devoted himself to his research.

 (Tales to Astonish I#94/2 (fb)) - The New Men
began reverting back to their bestial heritage, and they
savagely attacked each other. The process began so gradually
that the High Evolutionary did not notice right away.
(Tales to Astonish I#94/2 (fb)) - Eventually, like
a flood tide, the savagery and destructiveness increased beyond
belief, and they began to destroy their civilization.
(West Coast Avengers Annual#3/3 (fb)) - The dying
Sir Porga crashed into the High Evolutionary's laboratory,
telling him that without his supervision, the Knights had lost
their honor and reverted to savagery in their quest for power.
The Evolutionary raced to his
monitor room and confirmed Porga's findings.

  (West Coast Avengers Annual#3/3 (fb) - BTS) -
Sir Ram was the only loyal/non-maddened member of the
Knights/New Men.
The Evolutionary tried to
reason with his rampant subjects to no avail, and he searched
Wundagore II for new specimens to evolve in hopes of creating
beings capable of restoring order, but there were none to be
found.
(Tales to Astonish I#94/2 (fb) - BTS) - Seeking to
find new specimens to experiment upon to find a remedy for this
madness, the High Evolutionary sent Sir Ram back to Earth in
starship.
Ram and the High Evolutionary
enlisted a pair of hunters to capture animals for Sir Ram, and
he transported them to Wundagore II in his ship.
(Tales to Astonish I#94/2) - After the hunters
encountered the Hulk, they contacted the High Evolutionary, who
received their message as the nearby city was devastated by
warfare and while had had only one remaining specimen, a bear.

(Tales to Astonish I#94/2) - Per the High
Evolutionary's instruction, the hunters used the special pellets
he had provided to subdue the Hulk and then send the Hulk to him
aboard the ship so that he might use the Hulk to fight off the
rampaging New Men.
(Tales to Astonish I#94/2) - En route to Wundagore
II, Sir Ram encountered and was punched out by the Hulk.
 (Tales to Astonish I#95/2 - BTS) - Detecting a
cosmic storm in the path of Sir Ram's ship, the High
Evolutionary sent a message warning Sir Ram of this.
By the time Ram revived,
appreciated the danger, and steered the ship away, he had been
fatally irradiated, and he perished swiftly thereafter.
The radiation also forced the
Hulk to return to the form of Bruce Banner.
(Tales to Astonish I#95/2) - The High Evolutionary
established remote control over the ship and piloted it to
within his base on Wundagore II.
Having witnessed the Hulk's transformation
and changing his plans, the Evolutionary zapped Banner with his
vacuum ray blaster to immobilize prevent him from turning back
into the Hulk.
The Evolutionary then placed Banner in his
genetic accelerator, planning on evolving him into what humanity
would become in one million years.

(Tales to Astonish I#96/2) - The maddened New Men
/ Knights of Wundagore then broke into the High Evolutionary's
base.
After the Evolutionary had freed Banner from
the paralyzing ray, one of the Knights smashed him in the back
of head, stunning him despite his armor, but the Evolutionary
retained his wits long enough to activate his force field.
Without having had a chance to
evolve Banner and his remaining in human form, the recovered
Evolutionary subsequently dropped his force field physically
assaulted his former knights with a sword and mace.
When one of the Knights
attacked Banner, he turned into the Hulk, and the Knights
futilely attacked him en masse.

Apparently mortally wounded,
the Evolutionary subjected himself to his Genetic Accelerator.
After the Hulk had pummeled all of the
Knights unconscious, the Evolutionary, now a being of psionic
energy, devolved all of his Knights/New Men back into purely
animal form, including a horse, goat, monkey, pig, lizard, dog,
some sort of gazelle, some sort of felid, etc.
The Evolutionary sent tthe Hulk back to
Earth before "becoming one with the cosmos."

(Marvel Premiere I#1 (fb) - BTS) - Presumably while still
in his psionic energy form, the High Evolutionary brought Sir Ram back
from the threshold of death.
Eventually, the High Evolutionary was
nearly maddened by the loneliness of infinity, and he returned to his
human form.
The High Evolutionary established a
base aboard a hollowed out satellite/moon and he brought Sir Ram aboard
to assist him.
(Marvel Premiere I#1) - Detecting an object floating
nearby in space, Sir Ram alerted the High Evolutionary, and they brought
the cocoon containing the regenerating Him (soon to become Adam Warlock)
aboard. The Evolutionary then instructed Sir Ram to guide the ship to
"position two" on the far side of the sun, after which he initiated the
transformation of a rock from Earth into Counter-Earth, evolving life
through accelerated time.
(Marvel Premiere I#1 (fb) - BTS) - Unbeknownst to them
both, the Man-Beast and his New Men had returned from the Dromisana
Galaxy and were observing the process.
(Marvel Premiere I#1) - When the High Evolutionary became
exhausted by the process and collapsed, the Man-Beast led his New Men to
invade the asteroid base. Hearing parties within the space lock, Sir Ram
investigated and was shocked to see the Man-Beast and his New Men.
Mocking his lack of a friendly weapon, Man-Beast blasted and apparently
slew Sir Ram.

BTS) - Following the destruction of Rigel-3
by the Rhunians,
a group of Rigellians were seemingly separated from the main
fleet by a cosmic storm. They were apparently uncertain whether
the main fleet had survived.
(Iron Man I#111 (fb) - BTS) - The power-hungry Arcturus
deliberately separated his group from the main fleet, seeking to
build an empire under his rule.
(Iron Man I#111 (fb) - BTS) - Although Earth had
been declared off-limits to the Colonizers of Rigel, Arcturus'
fleet set a monitor in the inhabitable Blue Area of Earth's
moon.
(Avengers I#69 - BTS; Iron Man I#110 (fb) - BTS) -
Finding an abandoned ship of the time-traveling Kang the
Conqueror (Nathaniel Richards), Arcturus' group claimed the Growing
Man to serve as their emissary in their sector.
(Fantastic Four I#175 - BTS/ Iron Man I#110 (fb) -
BTS) - Finding Galactus' abandoned ship (after his seeming
death) circling Earth's sun, Arcturus' fleet confiscated
Galactus' Punisher
robot and then transported it with them when they traveled in
search of a new homeworld.
(Thor I#256 (fb) - BTS) - The main Rigellian fleet
subsequently colonized a new homeworld, also named Rigel-3.
(Iron Man I#111 (fb)) - The Rigellians serving
Arcturus believed themselves to have found a new home when one
of their space probes discovered Wundagore II. Not knowing the
world's history, they considered it to be huge, alive, and
lacking a sentient race.
The Rigellians found traces of
a once-thriving civilization, but they saw only wild beasts
foraging in it cities. The Rigellians were overjoyed, and they
considered that this world would be New Rigel.

When the Rigellians'
exploratory craft landed, the wild beast fled, but cosmic
radiation born by the ship from its journeys through space
somehow caused the beasts to re-evolve back into the forms of
the New Men, bereft of the savagery that had previously
afflicted them. Speaking and clothing themselves, the New Men
returned to their cities to see if they could recall what had
caused them to devolve.
Whether they learned what had
happened to them, they recalled that they were the Knights of
Wundagore and that they had returned to their home.

 (Iron Man I#111 (fb) - BTS) - From space, the
Rigellians watched in horror as they saw "New Rigel" slipping
from their grasp.
Although there was plenty of room on the
planet for them all, the Rigellians were unwilling to live with
beasts, and the Knights of Wundagore were willing to fight to
keep their world and drive off the invaders.
(Iron Man I#111 (fb) - BTS) - Prior to any actual war being
declared, the Rigellians allegedly attacked and wounded a number
of the New Men. The Rigellians also allegedly tortured some of
the New Men for information.
(Iron Man I#110 (fb) - BTS) - The Knights of Wundagore built a
mothership to transport them at least to the space outside
Wundagore II's atmosphere, and they built numerous space suits
and either recovered or built numerous atomic steeds able to
function in space.

(Iron Man I#109 - BTS / Iron Man I#110 (fb) - BTS)
- Earth heroes Iron Man and Jack of Hearts were transported to
Arcturus' ship via a Rigellian transport
egg placed on Earth's moon's Blue Area (having traced the
Growing Man as having come from there;
it was a complex/convoluted plot), and Arcturus had
them taken prisoner while noting that they were preparing for
the final battle in the war of colonization with the resisting
inhabitants of Wundagore II.
(Iron Man I#110) - Wearing space suits and astride
their atomic steeds as well as dragonfly-like ships, the Knights
of Wundagore -- including Sir Lepard, Sir Lyan, Sir Ossilot,
another Sir Ram and many others -- assaulted Arcturus' fleet.
Although the Rigellians were
caught by surprise and initially reeling, the Knights noted that
the Rigellians would recover and counter-attack; however, win or
lose, they vowed they fight for the realm as true sons of the
lost creator.
(Iron Man I#111 - BTS) - The Rigellians in the
ship carrying Iron Man and Jack of Hearts called an alert to
battle stations as their space shields had been breached.
(Iron Man I#111) - Sir Lyan exhorted the other
Knights to slay the invaders, and other knights noted that their
power-lances ruptured the ship's hull, and they hoped that they
might destroy the command ship.
When a blast hit a fuel storage
cell, the explosion hurled Iron Man from the Rigellian ship into
the middle of the attacking Wundagorians. Sir Lepard reported
this to Sir Ram, who considered that this might be a destruct
drone and ordered the others to attack it.
Seeking only to defend himself,
Iron Man pulled the approaching Sir Lepard and Sir Ossilot from
their atomic steeds. However, after the Rigellians fired in his
vicinity, Iron Man dodged, but both Ossilot and Lepard were
slain by the blast.
Siding with the out-powered
Knights, Iron Man destroyed the Rigellian command ship's main
gun, but both forces considered him an enemy due to his
assaults, and combined blasts knocked Iron Man to Wundagore II's
surface where he crashed in a swamp.
(Iron Man I#111 - BTS) - The Knights of Wundagore
fled back to their mother ship.

(Iron Man I#111) - As Iron Man revived, he was
attacked by one of the swamp creature. His power virtually
depleted, Iron Man managed to only blind it and cause it to
stumble away from him.
Sir Lyan and a group of
Knights of Wundagore subsequently confronted Iron Man.
Considering that the invader might be a spy, Lyan ignored
suggestions to kill him and instead took Iron Man with them in
their floater in hopes of learning the Rigellians' plans.
Although Lyan threatened Iron Man, noting that his blaster was
set to kill, Iron Man went along willingly, noting that he was
no friend of the Colonizers.
 While entreating Sir Lyan to
tell him of their world, Iron Man turned his back and plugged
into the Knights' floater's power-cells, recharging his
armor. Assuring Lyan he was an ally against the Rigellians, Iron
Man nonetheless warned Lyan that the Rigellians' weaponry
exceeded the Knights, and that if there was a war, the Knights
would lose. Acknowledging this, Lyan countered that as they had
already lost everything they once were, they would fight for
that which was left of them. He further noted that the
Evolutionary had stripped away their innocence without their
consent and given them pain and alienation in return before
their journey to Wundagore II.
After the floater docked at the
city of New Earth, Iron Man noted that Wundagore II was big
enough to accommodate both the New Men and the Rigellians, but
Lyan showed Iron Man the injured New Men who had been struck
down before war had been declared or who had been tortured for
information. After Lyan noted that the Rigellians considered
them to be no more than beasts, Iron Man offered to aid them in
battle, and Lyan -- having received reports of Iron Man's deeds
in the space battle -- accepted his offer.
(Iron Man I#111 - BTS) - Arcturus tried to
manipulate Jack of Hearts into joining the battle against the
New Men, telling him the New Men had most likely slain Iron Man
and threatening to instead conquer Earth if he refused to aid
him in conquering Wundagore.

(Iron Man I#112) - Atop an atomic steed and
wielding an energy sword, Iron Man led a charge of Knights from
out of their mother ship.
With the Rigellians' space
screens weakened from the earlier attack, Iron Man led the
Knights to breach and board the command ship, although he warned
the Knights that the Rigellians' weaponry still exceeds theirs.
Sir Hogg followed Iron Man's
order, attacking while they retained the element of surprise in
hopes of surviving the day.
The battle swiftly spread to
the entire Colonizer fleet, and blasters cracked and defense
shields fell as New Men and Rigellians locked in deadly
hand-to-hand combat.
(Iron Man I#112 - BTS) - When Iron Man and Jack of
Hearts confronted Arcturus, the Rigellian commander sent the
Punisher robot under his control to attack Earth via the transport
chamber back to the egg on Earth's moon. Iron Man pursued
the Punisher while telling Jack to stay and assist the New Men.
Iron Man followed the Punisher to Earth and eventually subdued
him.
(Iron Man I#112) - However, the Rigellians
battling Jack of Hearts pulled him with them through the
transport chamber, and an army of Rigellians and the New Men
fighting them soon emerged in the Blue Area of Earth's moon. The
Soviet Super-Soldiers -- who had been waiting by the egg
following a previous encounter with Iron Man -- attacked both
groups of aliens emerging through the portal until Jack of
Hearts announced, "The furry
ones are on our side."

  Realizing the battle was going
against him, Arcturus urged both the Colonizers and Knights to
listen to him, and he offered to allow the New Men to keep
Wundagore II if they helped the Colonizers take over Earth.
As Arcturus added that humanity
had made the New Men outcasts, Rigellian Recorder #211 then
arrived, having tracked Arcturus via the transport egg's signal
beam. The Recorder related that the Rigellians had since found a
new homeworld, and it stated that Arcturus' deliberately
breaking contact with the fleet, his attempting to colonize
without authority, and his threatening the restricted Earth had
all broken Rigellian law. The Recorder then noted that it had
been authorized to strip Arcturus of his rank and title, and it
further declared the war against the New Men to have been
illegal to now be over.
The Recorder then used the
transport egg to return the Knights of Wundagore to Wundagore
II.
(Iron Man I#112 - BTS) - The rest of Arcturus'
fleet was subsequently reunited with the rest of the Rigellians
on Rigel-3, while Iron Man, Jack of Hearts, and the Soviet
Super-Soldiers returned to Earth in a waiting craft provided by
the Recorder.

(Avengers I#187) - After the Avengers exited their
crashing Quinjet on Wundagore Mountain, the Beast (Hank McCoy)
encountered the corpse of an armored Knight of Wundagore partially
buried in the snow.
(Avengers I#187 - BTS) - Donning the knight's armor and his
still-functioning atomic steed, the Beast subsequently assaulted
the Chthon-possessed Scarlet Witch, unnerving Chthon due to his
previous defeat with the Knights' aid. |

Annual#17 - BTS / Thor I#406 (fb) - BTS / Thor I#407 (fb) - BTS)
- At the conclusion of the "Evolutionary War," Hercules
(Heracles/Alcaeus) and the High Evolutionary (Herbert Wyndham)
were super-evolved.
While their exact fates remain
unrevealed, their cosmic essences somehow merged with the Black
Galaxy...and at some point, their physical forms were contained
and/or merged with what appeared to be smaller versions of the
heads of Celestials on a planetoid within the Black Galaxy,
where they watched over by the Celestial known as Tefral the
Surveyor.
These events caused upheavals
within the Black Galaxy that affected other worlds, including
Rigel-3.
(Thor I#406 (fb) - BTS) - The New Men restored the
Citadel of Science atop Mount Wundagore to its former glory.
(Thor I#402-405 - BTS) - Presumably under
pre-existing orders from the High Evolutionary to obtain cell
samples of Thor (which was presumably the start of what would
become the High Evolutionary's plan to create the New
Immortals via Thor's DNA), the New Man known as Mongoose
kidnapped Eric Masterson and brought him to Mount Wundagore in
order to lure Thor there.
(Thor I#406) - As Thor approached, ignoring
Tagar's disagreement with his methods, Mongoose had a missile
launched at Thor, and then after its detonation, he sent the
Knights of Wundagore out to recover as much of Thor's body as
possible.
Having destroyed the
missile and survived the explosion, Thor attacked the
approaching Knights, shattering one of their atomic steeds with
his hammer, Mjolnir.
The Knights attempted to disarm
him with Maneuver 138, in which at least four of them launched
steel cables around Mjolnir and then tried to pull it free via
the power of their atomic steeds.
However, Thor resisted this
force before hurling Mjolnir and pulling them all off of their
steeds and then dropping them to ground in his vicinity when
Mjolnir returned to him.
As Sir Panther remained the
only Knight still atop his steed, an unidentified Knight fired
on Thor, and the blast, deflected from Mjolnir, shattered Sir
Panther's steed.
While Sir Panther fell toward
the distant ground, Thor flew down and caught him, after which
the Knights acknowledged that honor prevented them from further
fighting him.

At that point, the
Knights were summoned back to base at once by Count Tagar, who
explained that the attack was caused by the now-missing
Mongoose, and he released Eric Masterson as a show of good
faith.
Tagar informed them that the
Cosmi-Track device had located the High Evolutionary, and that
he and Hercules were within the Black Galaxy.
When Thor vowed to travel there
to rescue Hercules, the Knights insisted that it would be their
privilege to accompany him.
Not trusting the Knights,
Masterson also insisted on going, and Tagar provided him with a
nuclear-powered environmental suit to protect him.
(Thor I#407 (fb) - BTS) - The Knights were charged
with two responsibilities: To find their master, the High
Evolutionary, and to return with enough Asgardian cell samples
for future experiments. They had no intention of allowing Thor
or Eric Masterson to survive the mission.
(Thor I#406) - Shortly thereafter, Tagar had the
Stellar Telejump activated, sending the Knights (including Sir
Ferret, Sir Puma, presumably Sir Panther, and two others
unidentified), Thor and Eric Masterson to the Black Galaxy,
where they observed a giant image of Hercules...

(Thor I#407) - ...and the High Evolutionary, and
one of the Knights concluded that they had become woven into the
fabric of the Black Galaxy.
One of the Knights discussed
the nature of the Black Galaxy as a cluster of stars around the
edge of a great circle/dark void, and that void was the home of
a living "universe." However, molten energy then erupted from a
nearby planetoid, destroying that Knight's atomic steed and
apparently slaying him as well.

As the group fled the
planetoid, it exploded and apparently slew another of the Knights.

|
 
An approaching ship was also
destroyed by the planetary rubble, but its inhabitant, Recorder
#211, ejected himself in time and flew to greet Thor as his old
ally. The Recorder revealed that his Rigellian masters had sent
a Null
Bomb to destroy the Black Galaxy to stop the upheavals
that were disrupting the neighboring regions. Unwilling to see
the bio-verse destroyed, Thor resolved to stop the bomb. To this
end, he summoned a sack that carried his enchanted armor and
Belt of Strength and led the others in their quest.
After the Recorder identified
the giant swirling bands that snaked toward them as highly
toxic, giant viruses against which the organic beings'
bio-systems had no natural defenses, one of the bands snared Sir
Puma, closing in on him before he could escape and pulling him
off of his atomic steed; Thor urged the others to continue on
and he would go to Puma's aid, but the Recorder advised him that
that would be pointless as the swarm of bio-versal antibodies
had already begun to digest him.
Not seeing the "space stingray"
approaching behind him, when Thor hurled Mjolnir at it, one of
the Knights suspected that Thor had learned of the treachery he
and his fellow knights had planned; however, when Mjolnir struck
the creature, he realized that Thor had saved his life. After
that knight exclaimed that the creatures had him completely
surrounded, Thor instructed the others to gather together.
However, Sir Ferret questioned
whether he was mad, as there must be millions of the creatures,
and he took off while urging the others to flee while they still
good. Disregarding the mission, he insisted that survival was
all that mattered. Someone else urged Sir Ferret to come back as
he would never make it alone, but he refused to listen, and one
of the creatures apparently stung him fatally soon thereafter.

As the creatures swarmed closer, Thor formed a wind cocoon to
protect himself, Masterson, the Recorder and the last surviving
knight before launching them all into an asteroid field some
distance from the creatures.
However, as they alighted on
the asteroids, the last knight misjudged his landing and fell
through space. As Thor raced to rescue him, the knight told Thor
he should not risk his life for them, and he asked Thor's
forgiveness, telling him they were only following orders. As he
urged Thor to beware his return to Wundagore, the knight passed
through a mebrane that aged him several hundred years, instantly
killing him. Unaware of this fate, Thor passed through the
membrane and was mildly affected by the aging, but when he
removed the knight's helmet, he found only dust.
(Thor I#407 - BTS) - Ultimately, Thor deactivated
the Null-Bomb and rescued the High Evolutionary and Hercules.

(Thor I#422) - Aboard
his ship New Wundagore within the Black Galaxy, after the High
Evolutionary checked on the development of his New Immortals Nobilus
and Zon,
Sir Lepard reported that one the Hunger Probes that the High
Evolutionary had launched had just detected an alien vessel that
appeared to be bearing in their direction. The Evolutionary
instructed Sir Lepard to dispatch the Analyzer (the modified
Recorder #211), who could easily assess the situation and
determine if it posed a threat to them. The Evolutionary
subsequently excused himself to check on Juvan.
(Thor I#422 - BTS) - Investigating the vessel, which turned out to
be an Avengers Quinjet, the Analyzer encountered Thor and
Hercules, who had been sent there on a mysterious mission by the
Celestials. Although acknowledging that their threat level may be
exceddingly high, he was certain that the Evolutionary would wish
to see them, and he brought them back to New Wundagore (unaware
that Stellaris had magnetized herself and bonded to their Quinjet,
secretly entering New Wundagore as well).
(Thor I#422) - After Stellaris opened the cell of Nobilus -- who
suffered from bouts of madness due to having been produced from
cell samples from Thor while he bewitched by Loki -- alarms
sounded, and the Evolutionary led others, including various
unidentified New Men to investigate.

(Quicksilver I#11 (fb) / Heroes for Hire/Quicksilver '98) -
At some point following Exodus' assault on Wundagore Mountain (circa
Avengers I#380-382), the High Evolutionary realized that this was but the
first of other such battles, and he decided that he needed to create new
Knights using Isotope E to defend his Citadel. At that time, he created
Lady Vermin and the White Tiger, as well as Sir Wulf, figuring that a
wolf's ferocity would be useful in the war to come. However, as the last
wolf he had evolved became the Man-Beast, the Evolutionary felt that a
wolf would not be trusted by the other Knights, and so he proclaimed that
the new knight must keep his identity hidden, dubbing him Lord Anon.
(Heroes for Hire I#15 (fb)) - The Evolutionary specifically created the
White Tiger to end the threat of the Man-Beast forever.
 (Silver
Sable and the Wild Pack I#12) - Seeking a base of operations via
which to spread their power, the Genesis
Coalition used Cyberwarriors
purchased from Cybertek
to assault Mount Wundagore.
The Cyberwarriors were opposed both by
the Knights of Wundagore (none of whom were identified), as well
as Siege,
a Cyberwarrior taken over by the uploaded memories of John Kelly.
The Knights noted and appreciated Siege's assistance, as there
were many against their few.
Threatened by the combat, the Genesis Coalition
ordered retreat, and they departed, after which Silver Sable and
her Wild Pack (Chen, Crippler,
Quentino) and the Next
Wave (Agent-X,
Fin,
Sandman, Snare,
Turk)
joined the fight against the Cyberwarriors. After Sandman procured
the undamaged head of a Cyberwarrior, Quentino altered the
Cyberwarriors' tandem program, shutting them down.
One of the Knights thanked Sable for her
assistance and told her that if she ever required their service in
defending her homeland, Symkaria, they would be by her side.

(Spider-Man: Dead Man's Hand#1) - Seeking to cure
the Carrion zombie plague unleashed by the William Allen Carrion,
Spider-Man had the Tinkerer teleport him to Mount Wundagore to
enlist the aid of the High Evolutionary. Swiftly identifying the
intruder, the Knights of Wundagore, aboard their atomic steeds,
prepared to engage and restrain him.
When one of them insisted that no one
would be allowed to steal their master's work, Spider-Man
assured them he was not there to steal anything and -- as he
knocked a hand blaster out of one of their number's hand -- that
he did not have time to waste fighting them.

When Spider-Man demanded
to be taken to their leader immediately, the Knight flew him
to the Citadel of Science on his atomic steed within a few
minutes and then brought him to the High Evolutionary.
(Spider-Man: Dead Man's Hand#1 - BTS) - Refusing to become
involved with the affairs of humanity or to deal with the
actions of Miles
Warren (who had originally created Carrion), who had
learned from him, the High Evolutionary teleported Spider-Man
back to Manhattan. Nonetheless, posing as Dr. Wyndham from the
Center for Disease Control, the Evolutionary -- accepting
responsibility for Warren having used knowledge taken from him
to create the Carrion virus -- assisted S.H.I.E.L.D. scientist
Leslie
Miglietta in developing a cure for the zombie plague.
(Quicksilver I#9 (fb)) - When the High Evolutionary's powers
began fluctuating wildly, causing him to shift between
god-like powers to an ape-like powerless form. Lord Delphis
and the Evolutionary created Isotope E in hopes that it would
cure him. However, while Isotope E could return him to his
more human form, his powers and form continued to fluctuate,
with his periods of existing in his more powerful state grew
progressively shorter. |
  (Quicksilver I#11 (fb) - BTS) - At some point
after being freed from the Vault, the Man-Beast slew Lord Anon/Sir
Wulf, and adopted his identity, infiltrating the Knights of
Wundagore.
(Excalibur I#112 (fb) - BTS / Quicksilver I#11 (fb) / Quicksilver
I#7 (fb)) - Sometime following Crystal's vanishing via the final
conflict with Onslaught, Quicksilver brought his daughter Luna to
Mount Wundagore, the only place in the world that ever felt like
home to him. The High Evolutionary welcomed them to stay there,
and Bova quickly became akin to an aunt to Luna. The Knights of
Wundagore -- notably Lady Ursula, Lady Vermin, Lord Churchill,
Lord Tyger and Sir Ram -- kept Luna happy in ways that Quicksilver
could not.
(Quicksilver I#1 (fb) - BTS) - Declaring the Knights of
Wundagore/New Men to be an abomination, Exodus led the Acolytes to
assault the Citadel of Science, both to destroy the Knights and to
claim Isotope E for their own purposes.
(Excalibur I#112 - BTS) - A plane carrying Colossus (Peter
Rasputin) and Meggan crashed in the Swiss Alps, and Colossus
carried Meggan into proximity of Mount Wundagore and the Citadel
of Science.
(Excalibur I#113) - Colossus and Meggan were discovered by Bova,
who brought them toward the Citadel of Science, where Sir Ram
recognized Colossus as an associate of their enemy Exodus.
Explaining that this was a past alliance, Colossus offered to
stand with the New Men against Exodus, and Sir Ram welcomed them
into the Citadel.
Within the Citadel, Sir Delphis assured
Lord Gator that all of his protective wards were in place. When
Sir Ram arrived with his guests, Lord Gator similarly recognized
Colossus as an agent of Exodus, suspecting his motives despite Sir
Ram's assurance. Ultimately, the High Evolutionary appeared and
announced that they did not need Colossus and Meggan's help, and
he teleported them away to Paris, France.
(Quicksilver I#1 (fb) - BTS) - While Pietro was away, grieving
Crystal's apparent death, the Acolytes assaulted the Citadel of
Science, seeking to slay the Knights and Luna (whose human nature
was considered blasphemous to them) and to acquire Isotope E.
(Quicksilver I#1 - BTS) - Bova sent a message to Quicksilver,
summoning him back to the Citadel.
(Quicksilver I#1) - Astride Atomic Steeds as well as battling from
the ground, the Knights fought the Acolytes. By the time
Quicksilver arrived, Mount Wundagore was ringed in flames. With
the Evolutionary's power having faded markedly, he was overwhelmed
by the Acolytes. As Bova fled in an airship with Luna, Steed
sacrificed his life blocking a blast fired by Cortez, after which
Exodus arrived as well.
(Quicksilver I#9 (fb)) - The Evolutionary was in his weakened
state when Exodus and the Acolytes assaulted Mount Wundagore.
(Quicksilver I#1) - The Evolutionary ultimately teleported himself
his New Men and Quicksilver several miles away to safety, leaving
his Citadel in Exodus and the Acolytes' hands. After placing
Quicksilver in charge of the Knights, the Evolutionary teleported
himself and Isotope E away.
(Quicksilver I#8 (fb) - BTS) - ...to the Savage Land....
(Quicksilver I#1) - ...and teleported Quicksilver and the New Men
to his Haven castle on New York's Hudson. 
(Quicksilver I#3 (fb) - BTS) - When Polemachus was afflicted with
the "burning skies" while Earth was afflicted with rainstorms
(both of which were apparently a result of the "Heroes Reborn"
return from Franklin Richard's pocket dimension), the priests
Brother Cranus and Gullo determined that to survive this, they
needed to dimensionally exhange Polemachus and Earth. To achieve
this, they generated several dimensional portals from which some
of the dinosaurs native to Polemachus escaped to Earth. In order
to occupy Arkon and prevent his interference, Cranus and Gallo
drugged Thundra into a maddened, berserker state and sent her to
Earth-616 and then told Arkon that the sky-fires were a first
strike from Earth and that he must travel there to save Thundra.
(Quicksilver I#2) - Most of the Knights were pleased with the
impressive lodgings in Haven, although Lord Delphis was concerned
with the unprecedented torrential downpour and Lady Vermin was
concerned with Lord Anon. With the rains having flooded the
catacomb outfitted with technology, Delphis happily investigated.
Sir Ram convinced Quicksilver of the importance of valuing the
Knights.
Delphis determined the global rains to a result
of spatial upheavals, but he also noted a second set of
dimensional disturbances, which were localized in Manhattan, and
he convinced Quicksilver and the rest of the Knights to
investigate. Flying in on their atomic steeds, they encountered
pteranadon-eque creatures, and Quicksilver assaulted Thundra as
the center of the disturbances, leading to a conflict with her
arriving mate, Arkon.
(Quicksilver I#3) - Churchill throttled Arkon and ordered him to
leave Quicksilver alone, but when Quicksilver touched Arkon,
Churchill, Tyger and Lady Vermin were transported to Polemachus
along with Thundra, who attacked them.
Back on Earth, Lords Anon, Delphis and
Gator joined Sir Ram and Lady Ursula in attacking Arkon to protect
Quicksilver until Quicksilver defused the fight and convinced
Arkon to explain the reason for his assault. Having analyzed the
dimensional disturbances, Delphis informed Arkon that they
originated from Polemachus, and he further noted Thundra's dilated
pupils, suggesting that she had been drugged.
(Quicksilver I#3 (fb) - BTS) - Having computed the location of the
next space-warp, Delphis facilitated the travel of the Knights,
Quicksilver and Arkon back to Polemachus.
(Quicksilver I#3) - When the portal to Earth reopened on
Polemachus, Tyger transported the human couple who had been sent
there with him back to Earth, while the Delphis and the others
arrived. Delphis delivered a dose of <presumably
naloxone (see comments)> to Thundra, who guided
Quicksilver to smash Cranus and Gallo's portal generators and
prevent the dimensional transfer of the worlds.
Delphis agreed to remain on Polemachus to
help Arkon's people find a legitimate remedy for their problems,
and other priests of Polemachus opened a portal back to Earth that
returned the Knights to Haven, while Quicksilver was instead sent
to a field where he was reunited with Crystal, who had returned to
Earth alongs with the others temporarily transported to Franklin
Richard's pocket dimension).
(Quicksilver I#4 (fb)) - Quicksilver brought Crystal to Haven and
introduced her to the Knights Lords Anon, Churchill, Gator Tyger,
Ladies Ursula and Vermin, and Sir Ram.
(Quicksilver I#4 (fb) - BTS) - The Knights subsequently departed
Haven without telling Bova where they were going. When Quicksilver
called to check on them, he was disturbed by their absence.
(Quicksilver I#5 (fb) - BTS) - The Knights went out for a New York
City dinner.
(Quicksilver I#5) - They were planning to go to an opera but
instead chose to see Cats.
(Quicksilver I#5 (fb) - BTS) - Lord Churchill apparently lost
control and attacked some of the feline-dressed actors.
(Quicksilver I#5) - Churchill, Tyger, Ursula and Vermin took a
taxi back toward the castle, but the driver gassed them and then
took off in a flying car.
(Quicksilver I#8 (fb) - BTS) - The captured Knights were taken to
and imprisoned in a secluded abbey fifty miles north of Haven,
used as a base by Avalanche, Fenris, Feral, Omega Red, Pyro,
Random and others serving Exodus.
(Quicksilver I#6) - Having returned to Haven, Sir Ram worried
about the other Knights who had not yet returned, and he was
frustrated with Quicksilver's absence. He resolved to head back to
New York to try to pick up the other Knights' trail anew.
(Quicksilver I#7 (fb) - BTS) - Lord Gator was apparently captured
separately and also imprisoned in the abbey base of the Acolytes.
(Quicksilver I#7) - Gator, Tyger, Ursula and Vermin waited in
their cell as the Acolytes tortured Churchill in an effort to
learn the location of the High Evolutionary and the Element E he
carried with him. Vermin convinced a normal rat to take her place,
allowing her to escape and seek aid. The Acolytes subsequently
returned Churchill, who had refused to talk, and they took the
rat, thinking it was Lady Vermin.
(Quicksilver I#8) - Lady Vermin returned to Haven and informed Sir
Ram and Quicksilver of her fellow knights' location as prisoners
in the abbey base.
Meanwhile, while Feral ate the nomral rat
that was posing as Lady Vermin. Lord Anon slew one of the guards
and entered the Abbey.
(Quicksilver I#8 - BTS) - Although the knights had not divulged
the High Evolutionary's location (they most likely did not even
know it), Exodus independently identified the unique energy
signature of Isotope E in Antarctica's Savage Land. He therefore
instructed his agents to travel there and to secure the
Evolutionary and Element E. He instructed his agents to keep the
Knights alive.
(Quicksilver I#8 (fb) - BTS) - Appreciating the mutants' ship's
destination, Lord Anon located the other Knights' armors and
stowed them in the craft.
(Quicksilver I#8) - When Exodus' mutant agents attempted to force
the Knights to accompany them, they fought back and, joined by
Lord Anon, they overcame the mutants and took their ship to the
Savage Land.
By the time Lady Vermin, Sir Ram and
Quicksilver arrived, the abbey base was deserted; however, a rat
who had heard Exodus' orders to his followers relayed their
destination to her. 
(Quicksilver I#8 (fb) - BTS) - Quicksilver obtained an Avengers
Quinjet to transport himself, Ram and Vermin to the Savage Land as
well.
(Quicksilver I#8) - The first group of Knights landed and
encountered and battled recent mutates of the High Evolutionary,
and Ram, Vermin and Quicksilver arrived soon after. They were
upset with Anon's wanton slaughter of these beings who were like
brethren to them. They were subsequently attacked by a
triceratops, which Quicksilver was in the process of subduing when
Anon blasted it with a weapon he had found on the ship, slaying
the dinosaur, but stunning Quicksilver as well.
Noting another arriving ship, which they
correctly assessed as carry Exodus' forces, after which the
Knights and Quicksilver fell through a pit into the Evolutionary's
underground laboratory, where the Evolutionary revealed his
gorilla-like face and noted that things had gone terribly wrong.
(Quicksilver I#9) - The Knights were present alongside Quicksilver
as the High Evolutionary reviewed his history and his current
state of being dependent on Isotope E. The Evolutionary was
distraught to learn that Lord Delphis was not with them (nor even
on Earth, as he was still in Polemachus), at which point the
mutants serving Exodus -- Avalanche, Fenris, Feral, Omega Red,
Pyro and Random, as well as Acolytes Decay, Gargouille, Projector,
Scanner and Cortez -- attacked.
As the Knights and Quicksilver fought
back and defended the virtually powerless Evolutionary, Lord
Churchill secured Isotope E and then gave it to the Evolutionary
to flee with it. In the process, Lord Anon's armor was breached,
and Churchill recognized him as the Man-Beast; however, when
Churchill confronted Anon, he slew Churchill, after which he told
the others that Churchill had fallen in battle. The remaining
Knights and Quicksilver joined the Evolutionary back at their
ship, planning to return to Mount Wundagore to retake the Citadel
of Science.

  (Quicksilver I#10 (fb) - BTS) - The High Evolutionary
and the Knights returned first to Haven, after which
Quicksilver took the Avengers Quinjet to return it to Avengers
Mansion.
(Quicksilver I#10) - As the Knights trained in combat, the
Evolutionary praised Sir Ram for keeping them in fine fighting
form and that they would soon be ready to reclaim their former
home, but first he needed him to get word to Lord Delphis to
return from Polemachus. Considering Quicksilver a
disappointment and noting that they would leave without him if
he had not returned before their departure, the Evolutionary
also instructed Bova to summon the White Tiger for the coming
battle.
(Heroes for Hire I#15) - Bova returned to Haven with the White
Tiger, and met with Sir Ram, who introduced her to Lady Ursula
and Lords Gator and Tyger, while further noting that Lady
Vermin was preparing the craft, Lord Anon was out on patrol
and Sir Delphis was in another dimension. The knights present
were a bit put off by her having been previously unknown to
them. She revealed her origins, and when Tyger asked why use
her rather than him, the Evolutionary interrupted, noting that
none should question him.
Ultimately the Evolutionary agreed to
have the White Tiger bring her Heroes for Hire allies to aid
in re-taking their castle atop Mount Wundagore; Lord Anon
watched silently from a distance.
The White Tiger subsequently returned
with Ant-Man, Black Knight, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Not
having expected her swift return, Lord Anon re-entered Haven,
and when White Tiger recognized his true nature, he struck her
down with his sword. Before he could finish her off, the
Heroes for Hire came to her rescue, and a battle between the
two groups ensued.
Wielding a scepter containing Isotope
E, the Evolutionary ended the battle by devolving Ant-Man,
Black Knight, Luke Cage and Iron Fist into ape-like form.
(Heroes for Hire I#16 (fb) - BTS) - Quicksilver arranged for
the Avengers and Fantastic Four to send word to Lord Delphis
to return and aid the Evolutionary and the Knights.
(Quicksilver I#11 (fb) - BTS) - The Knights, High Evolutionary
and Bova flew an aircraft toward Mount Wundagore, with Sir Ram
flying high enough to make use of the Earth's rotation to
reduce the travel time to Transia.
(Quicksilver I#11) - While the Acolytes had been sent by
Exodus to Haven in hopes of recovering Isotope E, the Knights
arrived at their Citadel, reclaiming armor and weapons from an
armory the Acolytes had failed to ransack.
(Quicksilver I#11 - BTS) - In the infirmary, Bova discovered
the corpse of Sir Wulf.
(Quicksilver I#11) - Bova's cries summoned the Knights, and
she revealed how Sir Wulf had been the original Lord Anon,
making the current Lord Anon an impostor. They rushed to see
to the Evolutionary, only to find him fallen at the hands of
Lord Anon, who revealed his true identity as the Man-Beast.
(Heroes for Hire I#16) - Iron Fist, temporarily restored to
human form as the Isotope E change had been temporary, used
his chi to heal White Tiger. The Heroes joined Quicksilver in
ship traveling to Wundagore.
The Knights attacked the Man-Beast,
who used the Isotope E scepter to augment his psi-blasts (he
specifically noted that he was saving its energy for "greater
purposes," or he would have simply devolved them all).
Nonetheless, the distraction allowed Bova to carry the fallen
Evolutionary to safety.
Exodus subsequently arrived alongside
his Acolytes (Cargill, Gargouile, Javitz, Harlan & Sven
Kleinstock, Mellencamp, Milan, Scanner, Senyaka, Spoor,
Unuscione), and while Man-Beast fought Exodus, the Acolyes
attacked the Knights. Gator and Ram donned atomic steeds,
Ursula and Tyger rushed to their armory, where they
encountered Bova and the Evolutionary. Tyger also donned an
atomic steed and joined the fight, while Ursula stayed with
the Evolutionary.
(Heroes for Hire I#16 (fb) - BTS) - Man-Beast and Exodus
formed a temporarily alliance, and their forces reported that
they had captured the Evolutionary.
(Heroes for Hire I#16) - As the Heroes for Hire (including
Thena) and Quicksilver arrived, the Knights -- with the
Evolutionary apparently held hostage -- reluctantly allied
with the Acolytes against them. Ultimately, the Man-Beast used
the Isotope E scepter to incapacitate Cage, while Quicksilver
and the other Heroes for Hire fell in battle.
(Quicksilver I#12) - Escaping his cell, Quicksilver located
the Knights and informed them that he had not found the
Evolutionary to be a prisoner of the Man-Beast before heading
to free the Heroes for Hire. He suggested they focus on
finding their master, after which he stole the Isotope E from
the Man-Beast.
(Quicksilver I#12 - BTS) - Joining the Heroes for Hire against
the Acolytes, Quicksilver used the Isotope E to amplify his
own abilities to a level comparable to Magneto's.
(Quicksilver I#12) - In the caverns below the citadel, the
Knights located the weakened Evolutionary alongside Bova, but
though they planned to take him to the infirmary at the
armory, they were then confronted by the Man-Beast. Lady
Ursula charged Man-Beast, but he mentally commanded her to
turn her weapon on her fellow Knights. Unable to resist his
power, Ursula shot herself in the head to prevent herself from
attacking her teammates; Man-Beast mockingly revealed to the
others that he had allowed her to do this to reduce his
opposition. 
Having followed Man-Beast's scent,
White Tiger confronted and attacked him, and when the other
Knights prepared to come to her aid, Bova advised them that
White Tiger had been bred to be able to resist the Man-Beast's
mental powers. Bova further defied Sir Ram's orders and
returned to the citadel to find Quicksilver, whom she felt
could find Isotope E to save their creator. Soon after,
however, the Evolutionary's powers waxed again, and he found
himself glowing with power.
After Quicksilver had overpowered
Exodus and the Acolytes, the Knights on their steeds joined
the now-giant Evolutionary as he confronted that group,
announcing that he was retaking Wundagore Mountain.
(Heroes for Hire/Quicksilver '98) - As Lord Delphis arrived
via an Arkon-lent ship through a dimension rift between Earth
and Polemachus, the power-maddened Evolutionary ordered Sir
Ram to bring down the ship of the "intruder." Sir Ram
complied, but as the ship crashed, Quicksilver rushed in and
saved Delphis.
Quicksilver subsequently convinced
Exodus to oppose the Evolutionary, and the Acolytes followed
his lead and joined the Heroes for Hire in battling him. Loyal
to the Evolutionary, the Knights opposed the Heroes for Hire.
Ultimately, at Bova's request,
Quicksilver delivered the Isotope E sceptre to Lord Delphis.
Exodus and Thena united with the
Man-Beast in a psychic assault on the Evolutionary, and Iron
Fist fought off the White Tiger to prevent her from attacking
Man-Beast, in case Thena would be injured in the backlash.
After the Evolutionary succumbed to assault
and the others broke off their assault, White Tiger attacked
the Man-Beast. Having refined Isotope E, Delphis stabilized
the Evolutionary, who subsequently used Isotope E to revert
the Man-Beast into a wolf, who subsequently fled.
The Evolutionary also noted that he had
previously "added to and twisted" the power of the Knights
(Sir Ram and Lord Gator were specifically shown), and he "made
them as they were...still my knights, hopefully still my
brothers."
Lacking a purpose and pained by her
unrequitted love for Iron Fist, the White Tiger had the
Evolutionary revert her to a conventional tiger, which was to
be returned to the rain forest from which she had originally
been claimed.
(Quicksilver I#13) - Quicksilver departed Mt. Wundagore,
leaving the High Evolutionary to lead the Knights again.
(Heroes for Hire I#16) - Delphis, Gator, Ram & Tyger (with
Lady Vermin riding behind on Bova's shoulder) carried Exodus'
comatose form into the cavern in which he had previously
rested, and the Evolutionary and Thena channeled their power
through the Black Knight's sword to seal him therein.

(X-Factor III#21/2) - The High Evolutionary (and
presumably the Knights of Wundagore) encountered the Dark Beast
(Hank McCoy of Earth-295) when he came to the Citadel of Science.
(Uncanny X-Men I#488/2 (fb) - BTS) - Transians scaling Mount
Wundagore encountered "men with lion faces" guarding the pass.
(Uncanny X-Men I#488/2) - Scaling Mount Wundagore -- in hopes of
gaining the High Evolutionary's aid in curing the threat of mutant
ectinction -- the Beast (Hank McCoy) encountered Snow Queen and
other Knights of Wundagore, including an ox-man, a lion-man, and
another, perhaps some sort of cat- or wolverine- or something-man.
At least two other knights were seen in shadow in the distance,
and one of them may or may not have been the mountain goat-ish man
seen in the next issue.
(X-Factor III#21/2) - Snow Queen ordered McCoy and his men to
depart or die, and when McCoy noted that her sister (White Tiger)
would not threaten unarmed men, she angrily attacked him.
Their fight was broken up by the High
Evolutionary who agreed to see McCoy alone.
Ultimately, the High Evolutionary (who was
actually only appearing as a hologram as he was occupied with
matters elsewhere) dismissed Beast after giving him minimal
information, such as that science may not end a crisis created by
magic, that it was better to stay where you are than to embark on
grand voyages to the wrong destinations and that he had told his
colleague the same thing.
Refusing to divulge who was this
colleague, the Evolutionary had Snow Queen and some sort of
mountain goat-man escort McCoy to the outer gates. |
(Mighty Avengers I#22 (fb) - BTS) - As Modred the
Mystic sought to reassemble the Darkhold and summon the Elder
God Chthon to the Earthly plane, the Knights of Wundagore
apparently reached out to Quicksilver to help stop him. However,
it is possible that it was actually Modred speaking to and
manipulating Quicksilver the whole time.
(Mighty Avengers I#22 (fb) - BTS) <Hours before the
main story> - Modred apparently slew all of the Knights of
Wundagore within the Darque Hold, the caverns deep within the
mountain, where Chthon had written the Darkhold. Perhaps
Modred led them there and then slew them, or he slew them and
then brought them there.
(Mighty Avengers I#22 - BTS) - An unidentified Knight informed
Quicksilver via his headset that they had located the last page
of the Darkhold in the Vatican library, but when Quicksilver
arrived there, he found that Modred had already claimed the
page. As he vanished, Modred told Quicksilver that he had almost
everything he needed to summon Chthon.
Quicksilver contacted the Knights, asking
where to go, and he was told back to Mount Wundagore, as Modred
had reappeared there and was heading for the Darque Hold. As
Quicksilver rushed back to Mount Wundagore, he heard the Knights
cry out, "He's too powerful,
my lord! Help us! We can't--can't--"
(Mighty Avengers I#22) - Quicksilver arrived in the Darque Hold
to find Modred standing over the slain Knights, mocking
Quicksilver that they had been dead for hours and revealing that
he had faked the message to Quicksilver calling him back there.
Modred then trapped Quicksilver in mystic bonds in preparation
of transferring Chthon's spirit into him.
(Mighty Avengers I#22 (fb) - BTS) - Modred transferred Chthon's
spirit into Quicksilver. |
(New Warriors V#3 (fb) - BTS / New Warriors V#4 (fb)
- BTS / New Warriors V#5 (fb) - BTS) - Believing that the
Celestials would be returning soon and that the way to save
humanity was to eliminate all human variants or other
genetically-engineered, magically-created, etc. beings, the High
Evolutionary apparently slew any remaining Knights of Wundagore
and New Men.
(New Warriors V#2) - Multiple fallen New Men and Knights (notably
including a tiger man and apparently Bova) were seen on the ground
as the High Evolutionary spoke to Sam Alexander (Nova), whose
helmet he wished to use to faciliate rapid and painless deaths of
all human variants and superhumans.

Secret
Wars happened... 
(Secret Empire I#5) - Ant-Man, Falcon, Hercules, Iron
Man, Mockingbird sought the fragments of a Cosmic Cube in hopes of
restoring Reality-616's Captain America (as opposed to the Captain
America's whose reality had been overwritten by the sentient
cosmic cube Kobik with a reality mirroring the fascist-raised
Captain America of Reality-61311).
As part of this effort, they engaged the
High Evolutionary and a number of New Men and/or Knights of
Wundagore, including a gorilla-person and possibly some
dinosaur-people.
The number of
dinosaur-looking beings makes me think this was more likely in
the Savage Land than Mount Wundagore, but there was no text or
background to provide any further information. |
(Spider-Woman VII#6
(fb) - BTS) - Counter-Earth -- reportedly destroyed by the
Infinity Gauntlet-wearing Thanos (per Warlock and the Infinity
Watch#4, I believe) -- was apparently restored to existence. A
number of Knights of Wundagore dwelled there in an  apparent temple to the High Evolutionary.
(Spider-Woman VII#6 (fb) - BTS) - The High
Evolutionary had apparently been sent (by the Avengers?) to a
dimension that the Knights of Wundagore could no longer reach.
(Spider-Woman VII#6) - Under unrevealed circumstances, the Knights
(which numbered at least
eighteen; the five in front may or may not be the five shown in
the larger image) summoned the High Evolutionary back to
them. They rejoiced at his return, but he stated them to be his
most disappointing experiments, "You
were never meant to be this...and I am not meant to be here."
(Spider-Woman VII#6 (fb) - BTS) - The Evolutionary subsequently
abandoned the Knights. 
(Spider-Woman VII#6 - BTS) - Seeking the High Evolutionary for
information about a cure for a degenerative disorder plaguing her,
Spider-Woman and her friend and ally Captain Marvel traveled to
the High Evolutionary's abandoned moon base that formerly orbited
Counter-Earth. From there, they followed a lead to the Pegasusian
Sphinxor,
who told them where to find Counter-Earth.
(Spider-Woman VII#6 - BTS) - As they approached Counter-Earth,
Spider-Woman and Captain Marvel's Quinjet was recognized as an
Earth shuttle, and they were ordered (presumably by the Knights of
Wundagore) to desist in their approach to Counter-Earth. When they
ignored this instruction, shots were fired from Counter-Earth that
blew up their ship. Captain Marvel flew Spider-Women out of the
ship just before the explosion and then brought her to
Counter-Earth at what looked to be a temple of the High
Evolutionary.
(Spider-Woman VII#6) - Five Knights of Wundagore (apparently a
noseless person (perhaps a dolphin, like Sir Delphis), a white
tigress, a chimpanzee-man, a bear-person, and a dog-person, plus
at least a couple others behind them, including a lizard-person)
greeted them, and they recognized Spider-Woman as the daughter of
"Miriam" (sic; Meriem)
and Jonathan
Drew. The bear-person noted that her arrival was foretold
and the chimpanzee-person apologized to the "Drew spawn," telling
her that they did not know who was approaching them.
They shared that they had recovered the
Evolutionary from another dimension but that he had subsequently
abandoned them. Mentally unstable from the treatment for her
condition and furious as the Evolutionary had created a crazed
clone of her mother, Spider-Woman attacked and battered the
Knights. She channeled her bio-electricity (venom blasts) into the
chimpanzee-person, threatening to end him.
Captain Marvel pulled Spider-Woman off of the
chimpanzee-person before she could kill him, and then Spider-Woman
warned that if she found out that they were hiding the
Evolutionary she would be back and they would not survive. The
chimpanzee-man swore that they would not lie to the "Drew spawn,"
after which Captain Marvel convinced the Knights to supply a
replacement ship to get her crazy friend away before she destroyed
their whole planet. |

been modified over time, and so the history associated with her has been
ret-conned somewhat. See the comments in the profile on Natalya
Maximoff for a full discussion.
The armors shown in the fully-armored Knights
in Thor I#134 don't match those shown when they aren't wearing their
masks, so it really hard to tell who is whom.
The
Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe I#6 had the one and only OHotMU
entry on the Knights of Wundagore. As the original handbook's entries
were shorter, this one had a single page, which showed the a full body
picture of a knight, seven unmasked New Men (both new art by Mignola) as
well as an image of Knights on their atomic steeds from Thor I#134. It
did not include a membership list.
The Official Handbook of the Marvel
Universe II (Deluxe Edition) #15 had and entry on Wundagore, which
included headshots and images of the Knights of Wundagore and New Men.
The 21st century handbooks had the
more inclusive entries on the New Men, which covered all of the High
Evolutionary's evolved animals, rather than just the warriors.
The All-New Official Handbook of the Marvl Universe A
to Z#8 and Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A to Z hardcover#8
New Men entries' headshots note if they are Knights of Wundagore. Both
entries include Count Tagar and Sir Porga as part of the Knights of
Wundagore. They may have served in leadership roles, but they are
specifically noted in Thor I#135 as not being meant for
battle...although Tagar was clearly quite adept at combat as shown in
Thor I#134.
While the Knights of Pendragon did not actually
appear until Thor I#134, Sir Porga had previously appeared, first seen
in Thor I#132, and Count Tagar showed up in Thor I#133.
Based on relatively recent data,
Sir Ursus may have been created anywhere between 1931 and 1958.
However, retcon shenanigans, necessary or otherwise (for
more details, see the comments of the profile for Natalya
Maximoff) may have changed that.
Most significantly, Wanda and Pietro are not the
children of Magda and Magneto, so the 1958 date of Magda arriving at
Wundagore Mountain is fine, as is the involvement of Robert and Madeline
Frank (Whizzer and Miss America), for whom it pretty much had to be in
the 1950s.
It remains unresolved when (or even if) Wanda and
Pietro were on Mount Wundagore. Given Wanda's connection to Chthon, it
seems almost certain that she had to have been there, but given that she
was born about 25 years ago (I think Wanda is closer to 30, and so being
born closer to about 30 years ago), as part of the sliding timescale.
The question remains, did the battle with Chthon vs.
the Knights of Wundagore occur in 1958, with Chthon being bound to Mt.
Wundagore at that time, and then Chthon later bonded to Wanda about 30
years ago as part of the sliding timescale? Or does the battle of the
Knights vs. Chthon get moved forward to "30 years ago"?
And, it makes we wonder...if Natalya was killed by
Wanda's father, perhaps Chthon was Wanda's father...
In Thor I#406, the Knight were all
silver-armored, lacking their familar coloring, but most of them were
back in their classic coloring in Thor I#407.
Or, perhaps #406 was just poorly colored? A lot of
the images looked to be more gray-scale than full color, although Thor
was consistently his colorful self...
Thor I#406-407 reminded me of the original Knights
story in Thor I#134-135, primarily because the Knights in both sets of
issues were poorly identified. Sir Ferret, Sir Panther and Sir Puma were
named and shown fully armored, but the image of them without helmets
only shows three of their faces and only two of their armors, although
five are present...it's hard to tell who's who...the two to the right
look like they could be Sirs Panther and Puma. Why not picture all of
them unmasked and clearly show their armors?
Lessons on how to make characters forgettable...
Given the "Sir" in his name, it would
be assumed that Sir Lepard from Thor I#422, 424 & 473 was one of the
Knights of Wundagore, although Sir Porga received the same title and was
not set for combat. Regardless, he has his own profile,
so check it out and decide for yourself.
Quicksilver I#3 had Lord Delphis note
that he would use "apomorphine" to restore the drugged Thundra's senses.
I am not an expert in pharmacology, but the standard reversal for
opioid/narcotics is naloxone. In veterinary medicine, we use apomorphine
to induce vomiting in cases of toxin or foreign materal ingestion.
Why couldn't Lord Tyger or anyone else
beyond Churchill and the White Tiger sense Lord Anon's true identity
once his armor was damaged in the Savage Land?
Sir Ram, Lady Vermin, and Lords
Delphis, Gator and Tyger were all still around after the battle of
Wundagore at the end of the Quicksilver series. I guess they were
presumably slain in Mighty Avengers I#22 when Modred slaughtered the
Knights of Wundagore to summon Chthon or when the High Evolutionary
slaughtered his New Men in the hopes of preventing the Celestials from
judging against humanity circa New Warriors V#2, but we can always hope
they were elsewhere at the time...
The "Knights" in Spider-Woman VII#6 seemed more
like priests, and they did not appear to be accustomed to combat. But,
they did specifically identify themselves as "Knights of Wundagore," and
so I have included them here.
Sir vs. Lord
There are five levels of Peers
in the U.K. - in descending order of ranking these are duke, marquess,
earl, viscount and baron. Generically these are called Lords, though
Dukes don't get addressed that way - they are too high up , and get called Duke or addressed as "Your
Grace." The other four get called Lord as well as their actual
title, depending on the circumstances. The sons of Princes, Dukes and
Marquesses also get called Lord. And yes, Lady is the female
equivalent to Lord.
Sir is below ALL of them. You might be a Baronet, which is a weird
non-Peer but Peer-like title, or you might only be a Knight - roughly
speaking the Baronet tends to come with a location attached and Knight
doesn't. Both are called Sir, and the female equivalent is Dame.
Sir is generally an honorific these days - you do something sufficiently
notable, you get on the Honours List. All the honours allow you to
attach something to your name to show off that you've been so honoured.
These come with no duties or other privileges. In ascending order these
are MBE, OBE, CBE, KBE and GBE - Member of the Most Excellent Order of
the British Empire, Officer of..., Commander of..., Knight of... and
Knight Grand Cross of... Of these, only the top two, KBE and GBE allow
you to call yourself Sir (or Dame). Back in medieval times (and thus I'd
assume in groups like the Knights of Wundagore), Knights tended to be
soldiers, often working for a Lord.
Lord is separate from being a Knight - you can be a Lord without also
being Knighted, though it is possible to be both. In modern times, if
you are given any sort of peerage it allows you to sit in the House of
Lords and influence government policy - those who have inherited their
peerages used to be included in that but it got changed a few years
back, so they now get to retain the title but not the right to influence
how the country is run. Back in medieval times Lords would also oversee
a region of land attached to their title, and would often have knights
under them as a result of the need to protect that land.
Lady Shadra and Squire Gulo appear in Wolverine:
First Class#3-4 (July-August, 2008). In those stories, they were key in
fighting off the Man-Beast's New Men circa Thor I#135. However,

ships' radiation transformed the animals around them back into
the New Men / Knights of Wundagore, who resisted them.

- Iron Man and Jack of Hearts were transported to Arcturus' ship
via a transport egg placed on Earth's moon's Blue Area, and
Arcturus had them taken prisoner while noting that they were
preparing for the final battle in the war of colonization with
the resisting inhabitants of Wundagore II.
(Iron Man I#110) - Wearing space suits and astride
their atomic steeds as well as dragonfly-like ships, the Knights
of Wundagore -- including Sir Lepard, Sir Lyan, Sir Ossilot and
many others -- assaulted Arcturus' fleet. Although the
Rigellians were caught by surprise and initially reeling, the
Knights noted that the Rigellians would recover and
counter-attack; however, win or lose, they vowed that they would
fight for the realm as true sons of the lost creator.
(Iron Man I#111) - After an attack from the
Knights tore a hole in the Rigellian ship, Iron Man was sucked
out into space. Sir Lepard reported this to Sir Ram, who
considered that this might be a destruct drone and ordered the
others to attack it. Lepard, Ram and likely Sir Ossilot, at
least fired on Iron Man.
Seeking only to defend himself,
Iron Man pulled the approaching Sir Lepard and Sir Ossilot from
their atomic steeds. However, after the Rigellians fired in his
vicinity, Iron Man dodged, but both Ossilot and Lepard (and
perhaps Sir Ram) were slain by the blast.

Citadel, after which he tossed the Knights around when they
refused to release him. The Knights soon agreed to stop

confront the High Evolutionary, the distraction caused the
Evolutionary's wolf-subject to be over-exposed to Isotope C.

created an anti-matter barrier to prevent them from breaching
his vault.
By the time the Evolutionary
used his induction device to force the Man-Beast to confront
them, the Man-Beast had already created a number of his own New
Men, who then engaged Thor and the Evolutionary.
Donning his cathode gloves,
Count Tagar led the Knights of Wundagore to enage the New Men.
After Thor subdued the Man-Beast, the Knights forced the rest of
the New Men into the Evolutionary's Star Chamber, which then
transported them to the "galaxy Dromisana."

were four Knights on atomic steeds who first engaged Thor, four
brought him into the citadel and engaged him there, and four
were dragged into the High Evolutionary's presence, this knight
would seem to be one of the knights on the atomic steeds;
however, the colors of the uniforms don't match.
I would also assume that he was
involved in the battle against the Man-Beast's New Men, but I
can't identify him clearly. If he survived to the end of that
conflict, he almost certainly departed Earth with the others and
traveled to New Wundagore.
He looks fairly nonspecific, and I don't know what he is
supposed to be...maybe he's a nude mole rat...

Chthon-corrupted Modred the Mystic and the Chthon-possessed
Scarlet Witch, the Beast ended up on the mountain slope, and he
found the knight's corpse and still-functioning atomic steed.
(Avengers I#187 (fb) - BTS) - Correctly figuring that the
appearance of one the Knights on Wundagore would distract Chthon,
the Beast donned the Knight's armor and rode his atomic steed to
confront.
(Avengers I#187 - BTS) - The seeming arrival of one of the Knights
of Wundagore indeed distracted Chthon, freeing the Avengers who
had been mystically bound by the demon.

Man having been derived from some sort of carnivore, but beyond
that, I don't think there's much else to go by.
Many of the Knights who fell in that
battle were brought back to the Citadel, but it would seem that
they missed at least one.

Lady Ursula and Lord Gator discussed with Delphis whether their
protective wards were in place, as they suspected an impending
attack from Exodus and the Acolytes, a frogman, chicken- or
duckman (or some other bird man), and another, who might be Lord
Steed or Lord Churchill or another brown, long-eared New Man were
seen above them. Additionally, on the ground, some sort of
bird-person was seen between Ursula and Gator, possibly looking up
and speaking to the above group.
Sir Ram and Bova then returned with
guests Colossus and Meggan, whom the High Evolutionary
subsequently teleported away, claiming not to need their aid.

knight stood beside Beast, along with Snow Queen.
He remained silent throughout the
discussion, and at the Evolutionary's command, he and Snow Queen
escorted Beast back out of the citadel.

as well as ear placement...but he has round pupils rather than the
vertical slit pupils seen in cats. He kind of looks like a

wolverine's. Feline or mustelid seems most likely to me.
My notes from this issue listed this guy
as a bear-man, but I was less convinced when I reviewed it for the
profile.
In X-Factor III#21, his appearance was
much less distinct, with a longer beard.

Warriors V#5 (fb) - BTS) - Believing that the Celestials would be
returning soon and that the way to save humanity was to eliminate
all human variants or other genetically-engineered,
magically-created, etc. beings, the High Evolutionary apparently
slew any remaining Knights of Wundagore and New Men.
(New Warriors V#2) - Multiple fallen New Men and Knights (notably
including a tiger man and apparently Bova) were seen on the ground
as the High Evolutionary spoke to Sam Alexander (Nova), whose
helmet he wished to use to faciliate rapid and painless deaths of
all human variants and superhumans.

Note: This character did not resemble Lord Tyger, but it
could have been meant to have been him but that he just looked
different due to artistic license.

One
of the Knights present on the restored Counter-Earth and dwelling
in a temple to the High Evolutionary, the chimpanzee-man (or
perhaps he was a bonobo-man) was apparently amongst those
who summoned the High Evolutionary from his dimensional exile,
only to be denounced as his most disappointing experiments and
subsequently abandoned by him.
When Spider-Woman and Captain Marvel
arrived in a Stark spacecraft, the Knights apparently recognized
as an Earth shuttle, ordered the occupants to desist in their
approach to Counter-Earth and then blew up the shuttle when they
ignored the request. Captain Marvel flew Spider-Women out of the
ship just before the explosion and then brought her to
Counter-Earth.
The chimpanzee was amongst those who
greeted Spider-Woman and Captain Marvel, and he specifically
apologized for the attack, noting they did not know whom were the
occupants. As he related how they had summoned the Evolutionary,
he recognized and denounced Captain Marvel as one of those
"Avenglings, unevolved primates with no appreciation of <the
Evolutionary's> genius." He further noted that those like her
were the ones who had banished the Evolutionary.
After he had noted the Evolutionary's summoning
and subsequent departure, Spider-Woman -- mentally unstable from
the treatment for her degenerative condition and furious as the
Evolutionary had created a crazed clone of her mother -- attacked
and battered the Knights. She channeled her bio-electricity (venom
blasts) into the chimpanzee-person, threatening to end him.
Captain Marvel pulled Spider-Woman off of the
chimpanzee-person before she could kill him, and then Spider-Woman
warned that if she found out that they were hiding the
Evolutionary, she would be back and they would not survive. The
chimpanzee-man swore that they would not lie to the "Drew spawn,"
after which Captain Marvel convinced the Knights to supply a
replacement ship to get her crazy friend away before she destroyed
their whole planet.

Note: I would suggest Sir Pan as the name for this Knight,
as Pan is the genus that includes chimpanzees and bonobos.
Sir Trog would also be pretty good, as
the species is Pan troglodytes.
Sir Chimp is a little lackluster. Sir
Bonobo is little better than Sir Chimp, at least.

These "Knights" seemed more like priests,
and they did not appear to be accustomed to combat. But, they did
specifically identify themselves as "Knights of Wundagore," and so

dwelling in a temple to the High Evolutionary, the gray-faced
knight (vaguely similar to Sir Delphis, so perhaps a
dolphin-person) was apparently amongst those who summoned
the High Evolutionary from his dimensional exile, only to be
denounced as his most disappointing experiments and subsequently
abandoned by him.
When Spider-Woman and Captain Marvel
arrived in a Stark spacecraft, the Knights apparently recognized
as an Earth shuttle, ordered the occupants to desist in their
approach to Counter-Earth and then blew up the shuttle when they
ignored the request. Captain Marvel flew Spider-Women out of the
ship just before the explosion and then brought her to
Counter-Earth.
The gray knight was amongst those who
greeted Spider-Woman and Captain Marvel, and he specifically
noted, "The Drew..."
After the chimpanzee-man had noted the
Evolutionary's summoning and subsequent departure, Spider-Woman --
mentally unstable from the treatment for her degenerative
condition and furious as the Evolutionary had created a crazed
clone of her mother -- attacked and battered the Knights.
Captain Marvel pulled Spider-Woman off of the
chimpanzee-person, Captain Marvel convinced the Knights to
supply a replacement ship to get her crazy friend away before she
destroyed their whole planet.

Note: I would suggest Sir (or Dame) Odontoceti as the name
for this Knight, or maybe Sir or Lady Odo.
It is possible that this is Sir Delphis,
although Delphis was active in Mt. Wundagore and was not ever

Note: I would suggest Dame (or Lady) Tigris as the name for
this Knight.
I don't know why she stretched out
Miriam's name when she spoke it.
It is possible that this knight was the
Snow Queen (from Uncanny X-Men I#488/2 and X-Factor III#22/2) or
even the White Tiger, restored to her more humanoid form. However,
the presence of this tigress on Counter-Earth rather than
Earth/Mount Wundagore and her more passive nature makes that seem
less likely.
White tiger's are Bengal tigers lacking
the red and yellow pheomelanin pigments, and so they have white
fur rather than yellow, as well as blue eyes.

apparently slain by the Man-Beast.

This reptile-person is unlikely to be
Lord Gator, who was active on Earth's Wundagore Mountain and not
shown to be on Counter-Earth or Lizhardus, who was active on
Counter-Earth, but lacked a tail and was not one of the Knights of
Wundagore.
