History: (Spectacular Spider-Man II#166 (fb)) - Liverpudian orphans Malcolm and Leo Knight were adopted by bitter alcoholic Edgar Fogg. Malcolm befriended Edgar's son Thomas, and embarked on a career of bullying and hooliganism. Only Evelyn, Fogg's daughter, could stop Malcolm's rampages, as he secretly loved her. However, he never listened for very long. When they reached adulthood, Malcolm and Thomas were hired as contract killers by a Liverpool mobster. Assigned to kill Professor Henry Lewis, they succeeding in killing the scientist, but accidentally damaged his particle cannon in the process. The cannon reduced the two to their quantum structures, reshaping them into what they perceived themselves to be - Fogg, a gaseous ghost, and Knight, an ironclad powerhouse. They established themselves as superhuman hitmen.

(Spectacular Spider-Man II#165) - Five years later, Knight and Fogg murdered Knight's friend Bertie Flynn in London for stealing 5000 pounds from their employer. Retiring to the Butts Inn, Knight dismissed the advances of their barmaid and discussed his weariness with Fogg. Fogg instead told him of their next job - a contract from the Kingpin of Crime on the head of his right-hand man, the Arranger. The duo successfully slew the gangster, just before Spider-Man arrived at the Arranger's office. Fogg got the drop on him, but Knight was insistent that they had only been contracted to kill the Arranger, and insisted that Fogg let him go. Which he did - right out the window. As they fled the building, Spider-Man tried to stop them, but Knight sliced through his weblines and let Fogg incapacitate him. Escaping, they flew back to Liverpool the next morning.

(Spectacular Spider-Man II#166) - Finding Spider-Man in Liverpool, where he was following Edgar and Evelyn Fogg on a bridge, Knight and Fogg ambushed the American hero. As Knight prepared to snap his neck, Evelyn (who did not recognize Malcolm in his armored form) pleaded with him not to do it. Hesitating, he threw Spider-Man into the river instead.

(Spectacular Spider-Man II#167) - After collecting their fee for the Flynn hit in London, Malcolm and Thomas returned to Liverpool and visited the Castle Pub, where they found Edgar, Evelyn, Leo, and an amnesiac Peter Parker. Evelyn pulled Malcolm away to confess that she loved him, but he coldly rejected her, unwilling to break her heart if she learned of his murderous nature. Hearing a window breaking in Leo's nearby flat, Knight transformed and ran there, where he found Spider-Man, who had been attacked by Fogg in Leo's flat, restoring his memory. Spider-Man slammed Knight against a wall, knocking him out and reverting him to human form. While Fogg chased the web-slinger off, Edgar and Evelyn arrived; seeing Leo's unconscious body, Malcolm assumed he was dead, and that Spider-Man had killed him. Transforming in front of his horrified family, he stormed off to kill Spider-Man. Finding the wall-crawler battling Fogg, he attacked him, but Spider-Man explained that Fogg had assaulted Leo. Fogg admitted it, and Knight attacked him; while the two battled, Spider-Man hit them with a downed power cable, reverting them both to human form and knocking them out.

(Marvel Knights Spider-Man#6) - Knight attended the Tinkerer's auction of Eddie Brock's Venom symbiote.

Knight and Fogg really seemed to be on the outs at the end of their first storyline, but maybe they reconciled before going to the Venom auction. Or maybe they went separately and ran into each other. Awkward.

Knight considered himself to abide by a certain code of honour, whereas Fogg was just a violent maniac. That code of honour apparently doesn't apply to near-incest (or, you know, killing people), but hey, whatever.

Evelyn Fogg

(Spectacular Spider-Man II#166 (fb) ) - Edgar Fogg's daughter Evelyn was the only one who could stop her adopted brother Malcolm Knight's violent rampages - she secretly loved him, as he loved her.

(Spectacular Spider-Man II#166) - Twenty years later, Evelyn helped her drunken father home from the Black Bell in at closing time. As they walked home, they encountered Spider-Man battling Knight and Fogg (who they didn't recognize as Leo and Malcolm). Evelyn's pleas stopped Knight from crushing Spider-Man's throat; instead, he merely threw him into the river.

(Spectacular Spider-Man II#167) - At the Castle Pub, Evelyn pulled Malcolm aside and kissed him; he insisted that she was wasting her life waiting for him, and that he would only break her heart. Later, concerned for Leo, he rushed off; Edgar and Evelyn found him by Leo's flat, where Leo seemingly lay dead inside. Believing Spider-Man had killed his brother, Malcolm transformed in front of the horrified Evelyn and stormed off. Evelyn and her father found that Leo had survived, and took him to see Malcolm, only to find Spider-Man standing over the unconscious Knight and Fogg. He left Leo to explain what they truly were.

Leo Knight

(Spectacular Spider-Man II#166 (fb) ) - Orphans Leo and Malcolm Knight were adopted by Edgar Fogg. His brother was a hellion, but Leo was a peaceful child.

(Spectacular Spider-Man II#166/Spectacular Spider-Man II#167 (fb) ) - Twenty years later, Leo had grown up to captain the fishing boat Sally Ann; he also loved his adopted sister Evelyn, but knew that she loved his criminal brother Malcolm, now the superhuman killer Knight, instead. While trawling the river, he pulled an amnesiac Spider-Man out of the water, and removed his costume to protect his brother, in the hope that Spider-Man wouldn't regain his memory and catch Malcolm.

(Spectacular Spider-Man II#167) - Peter worked on the boat all day, and at day's end Leo took him to the Castle Pub for dinner. Edgar was there, and asked him when he or his brother were going to marry Evelyn and take him off her hands - Leo told him that she loved Malcolm, not him. Reasoning that only by sending Malcolm to jail would he ever have a chance with Evelyn, he took Parker home and gave him his costume. Donning it, he recovered his memory, just in time for Fogg (who had figured out that Leo's guest was Spider-Man) to burst in and throttle Leo into unconsciousness, believing he'd betrayed them. Seeing Leo's unconscious body, Malcolm believed that Spider-Man had killed him; Edgar and Evelyn found that he was only unconscious, and brought him to see Malcolm, only to find Spider-Man standing over the unconscious Knight and Fogg. He left Leo to explain what they truly were.

Bertie Flynn

(Spectacular Spider-Man II#165 (fb) ) - A long-time friend of Malcolm Knight and Thomas Fogg, mobster Bertram "Bertie" Flynn frequently skimmed money from the bank robberies he'd committed instead of handing it all over to his boss, a Liverpool crimelord. He became eventually became too greedy, and took five thousand pounds from his most recent job, prompting his boss to send Knight and Fogg after him.

(Spectacular Spider-Man II#165) - Flynn fled from the duo through the streets of London, ineffectually firing his gun into the misty Fogg and the bulletproof Knight. Knight grabbed him and stabbed him in the heart with his blade, killing him.
