History: (Spectacular Spider-Man II#166 (fb)) - Thomas Fogg's alcoholic father Edgar adopted orphans Malcolm and Leo Knight. Thomas befriended Malcolm, and the two embarked on a career of bullying and hooliganism. When they reached adulthood, Malcolm and Thomas were hired as contract killers by a Liverpool mobster. Assigned to kill Professor Henry Lewis, they succeeding in killing the scientist, but accidentally damaged his particle cannon in the process. The cannon reduced the two to their quantum structures, reshaping them into what they perceived themselves to be - Fogg, a gaseous ghost, and Knight, an ironclad powerhouse. Moving to London, they established themselves as superhuman hitmen.

(Spectacular Spider-Man II#165) - Five years later, Knight and Fogg murdered Knight's friend Bertie Flynn for stealing 5, 000 pounds from their employer. Retiring to their pub of choice, the Butts Inn, Knight discussed his weariness with Fogg. Fogg instead told him of their next job - a contract from the Kingpin of Crime on the head of his right-hand man, the Arranger. The duo successfully slew the gangster, just before Spider-Man arrived at the Arranger's office. Fogg got the drop on him, but Knight was insistent that they had only been contracted to kill the Arranger, and insisted that Fogg let him go. Which he did - right out the window. As they fled the building, Spider-Man tried to stop them, but Fogg strangled him until Knight, worried about the police, told him to leave. Escaping, they flew back to London the next morning.

(Spectacular Spider-Man II#166) - Finding Spider-Man in Liverpool, where he was following Edgar and Evelyn Fogg on a bridge, Knight and Fogg ambushed the American hero. As Knight prepared to snap his neck, Evelyn (who did not recognize Malcolm in his armored form) pleaded with him not to do it. Hesitating, he threw Spider-Man into the river instead.

(Spectacular Spider-Man II#167) - After collecting their fee for the Flynn hit in London, Malcolm and Thomas returned to Liverpool and visited the Castle Pub, where they found Edgar, Evelyn, Leo, and an amnesiac Peter Parker. Fogg saw Parker inadvertently demonstrate superhuman strength; upon hearing that he'd been pulled from the river, he concluded that he was Spider-Man. Transforming, he attacked Leo's flat, where Parker had changed into his costume; knocking Spider-Man out the window, he throttled Leo, believing that he'd betrayed them to Spider-Man, and left. After Spider-Man, his memory now restored, had a brief tussle with Knight, Fogg chased him down. Knight soon joined him, believing that Spider-Man had killed Leo; Spider-Man told him instead that Fogg had done it. Fogg admitted it, and Knight attacked him; while the two battled, Spider-Man hit them with a downed power cable, reverting them both to human form and knocking them out.

(Marvel Knights Spider-Man#6) - Fogg attended the Tinkerer's auction of Eddie Brock's Venom symbiote.

Comments: Created by Gerry Conway, Sal Buscema, Stan Drake, Andy Mushynsky, Jack Abel, Mike Manley, Tom Morgan, Al Milgrom, and Keith Williams.

Knight had a certain sense of honour, but Fogg was just a psychopath. It'd be cool if these guys showed up again.

Knight and Fogg really seemed to be on the outs at the end of their first storyline, but maybe they reconciled before going to the Venom auction. Or maybe they went separately and ran into each other. Awkward.

CLARIFICATIONS:
Thomas Fogg, a.k.a. Fogg, has no known connections to:

Edgar Fogg

(Spectacular Spider-Man II#166 (fb)) - Bitter alcoholic Edgar Fogg adopted orphans Malcolm and Leo Knight, and raised them alongside his own children Thomas and Evelyn.

(Spectacular Spider-Man II#166) - Evelyn escorted Edgar home from the pub; on the way home, they witnessed a battle between Spider-Man and Knight and Fogg (who they didn't recognize as Malcolm and Thomas).

(Spectacular Spider-Man II#166) - Edgar met Leo and an amnesiac Peter Parker at the Castle Pub. When Thomas and Malcolm arrived later, Edgar told Thomas where Parker had been found, leading Thomas to realize that the American was Spider-Man. Hearing a window break at Leo's flat, Malcolm rushed off; Edgar and Evelyn followed, and found Leo's seemingly dead body; believing Spider-Man had killed them, Malcolm transformed into Knight and stalked off after him. Edgar and Evelyn found that Leo was still alive, and went to find Malcolm, only to find both he and Thomas unconscious; Spider-Man left Leo to explain who Knight and Fogg really were.

Henry Lewis

(Spectacular Spider-Man II#166 (fb)) - Professor Henry Lewis was a brilliant physicist, but a terrible gambler. He ended up owing a great deal of money to a Liverpool mobster, who sent two hired killers, Thomas Fogg and Malcolm Knight, to kill him in his lab at the North Umbrage Energy Research Laboratory.
