First Appearance: (As Xiaoyi) Inhuman#4 (October, 2014); (as Iso) Inhuman#9 (February, 2015)

Powers/Abilities: After undergoing Terrigenesis, Iso developed the ability to manipulate pressure systems, including the ability to create air pressure, to increase pressure on objects until they are crushed, or to propel things through the air. Iso has also used her powers to manipulate the brain, to render others to sleep, to block cognitive functioning and limit intellectual capacity. Iso has spent time studying engineering, machines, and biology, and is a natural student. She learned English after Capo's consciousness briefly inhabited her body.

Height: 5'9" (by approximation)
Weight: 135 lbs. (by approximation)
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Black

History:
(Inhuman#4 (fb) - BTS) - When Xiaoyi Chen was born early, her parents named her Xiaoyi, meaning "little one". She grew up in a rural area with parents who'd wished for a son, and she pushed them constantly for books and knowledge, things they could not provide.

(Uncanny Inhumans#0/2 (fb) - BTS) - Xiaoyi always felt she had a special affinity for the machines on the farm.

(Inhuman#4 (fb) - BTS) - In time, she was hit by the Terrigen Mists.

(Inhuman#4) - In rural China, Xiaoyi Chen emerged from the Terrigen Mists with the power to manipulate pressure systems. The Chinese military surrounded her home as her powers kicked in defensively. Chen was shocked when Reader approached her with his dog, Forey, and he stopped time to save Xiaoyi's life. Xiaoyi looked at her parents, frozen in time, and chose to just leave, letting them think she'd died in the military explosion, so that she could embrace a new life.

(Inhuman#9 (fb) - BTS) - Reader spent weeks training Xiaoyi in the use of her powers to manipulate pressure systems. They crossed several borders, working their way toward the Inhuman city of Ennilux.

(Inhuman#9) - In Turkey, Xiaoyi, Reader, and Forey were approached by armed criminals who wanted Xiaoyi for themselves. Xiaoyi defeated four of them with her powers, then Reader, using Forey's eyes, defeated the last one, a woman. In time, they arrived at the Ennilux offices in Venice, where Rafaela greeted them. On their walk in, Xiaoyi recognized a symbol on the wall that matched the criminals who had attacked them, and they realized that Ennilux had sent the men after them. They were shown in to Capo, the leader of Ennilux, and Reader left the confused Xiaoyi there as Capo promised to pay Reader. Xiaoyi was strapped down by scientists who took samples from her, determining she was the perfect vessel to transfer the consciousness of the Capo into. Capo chose to have Xiaoyi's mind-wiped so she could not fight him for control once he took over her. The scientists named her Iso.

(Inhuman#10) - As Iso's brain was being mapped in preparation for the transfer, Reader and Forey attacked the doctors in the room. When he disconnected Iso from the machine, she realized she could now speak English. As the guards rushed in, Reader teleported her away. As they landed in the river outside, Iso confronted Reader over his having sold her, but then Capo, in his astral form, appeared over them.

(Inhuman#11) - Capo and his guards, in flying craft, chased down Iso and Reader (with Forey) in Venice, but Iso used her powers to pressurize the craft, causing them to explode. Reader used his last reading of the day to travel he, Iso, and Forey ten minutes back in time, then, out of power, he told Iso to get them someplace safe. They found a nearby church, where Iso used her power to put Reader to sleep so his power could recharge. Capo then rushed into the room with guards. Iso used her powers to reawaken Reader, who then teleported them both to New Attilan in New York City, Gorgon, Black Bolt, and others stood ready to defend them as the forces of Ennilux arrived.

(Inhuman#12) - After Black Bolt destroyed the forces of Ennilux, Reader took her to meet Black Bolt, Gorgon, and Medusa, and the king offered Iso refuge. Iso bid him farewell, not daring to quite trust him. Iso was greeted by Inferno, Elejea, and Naja, who she learned would be her new roommate.

(Inhuman#13) - Inferno played the drums for a gathering of Inhumans, including Naja, Iso, Flint, Gabriela Pertuz, and Gorgon in a local bar. Iso struggled to adapt to American culture. Gorgon sang and Inferno lost himself in the music until he started to set himself on fire. Iso and Flint helped get Inferno to safety.

(Inferno#14) - As Inferno healed from his wounds with Naja nearby, Gabriela went into labor, and Iso began searching for Gorgon. She returned to New Attilan, where she found Gorgon paralyzed, with Lineage standing over him.

(Inhuman Annual#1) - Wielding the Codex as a staff, Lineage easily turned off Iso's powers before she could attack him. Medusa, Frank McGee, and Triton arrived just before Karnak and Capo shockingly burst through Lineage's chest, appearing in the room. Iso grabbed the Codex, having memorized what Lineage did with it, and she ended the corrupted mutations Lineage had started. Medusa personally thanked Iso.

(Amazing Spider-Man Special#1) - When Bird-Men attacked New Attilan, Iso, Grid, Inferno, and Naja stood against them, but Triton had to save them when they were overwhelmed. Spider-Man arrived to help, with Medusa and Gorgon, and they all soon passed through Eldrac to Sky-Island. After a brief battle with Red Raven, Gorgon, Triton, and Medusa were captured, and Red Raven sent the others plummeting through the sky toward the city below.

(Inhuman Special#1) - Spider-Man used webbing to break the fall of the four Inhumans, and they climbed back up the rocky island (with Naja lifting Iso). They battled mutated Bird-Men, then Captain America (Sam Wilson) joined them.

(All-New Captain America Special#1) - Captain America and Spider-Man battled Red Raven and the Bird-Men alongside the Inhumans, soon defeating them. When Sky-Island went crashing toward the city below, Flint used his powers to slow the rock, and Iso manipulated air currents to get it to land in the river, saving thousands of lives.

(Uncanny Inhumans#0/2 (fb) - BTS) - Iso discovered the little blue specks that had appeared on her face after Terrigenesis now only appeared while she was using her powers.

(Uncanny Inhumans#0/2) - Iso worked on understanding some of the Inhuman machines with Flint helping her. When she managed to open a dimensional portal, exiled Inhumans Snarkle and Gordon appeared on the other side. Snarkle leapt through the portal to attack, but was easily defeated as Gordon remained on the other side. Flint figured out how to control the rocks on his face, then he and Iso shared a kiss.

(Uncanny Inhumans#1 (fb) - BTS) - Iso was assigned to study with the Beast, who took up residency in New Attilan. He was pleased with how quickly she learned advanced science.

(Uncanny Inhumans#1/2 (fb) -BTS) - Iso let Flint know she wasn't interested in pursuing things further.

(Uncanny Inhumans#1) - Medusa led Iso, Flint, Grid, and Inferno in battling Chitauri warriors in Central Park, then she gave an interview to the media. During the fight, Iso realized the nearby Skyspear increased her powers. Back in New Attilan, Iso returned to study with the Beast.

(Uncanny Inhumans#2 (fb) - BTS) - Reader tried to reach out to Iso, but she ignored him.

(Uncanny Inhumans#2) - Reader (with Forey), Beast, Human Torch, and Iso were invited to a meeting with many of the Royal Family, and they discussed how Kang had Ahura. Gorgon disappeared from the timeline and they realized that Kang was tampering with the past, so Beast protected them all in a time bubble. Realizing they could use Reader's powers to go back in time, Iso argued that they could use the Codex and the Historikon to pinpoint where to go. Realizing they could use Reader's powers to go back in time, they carefully prepared, then Reader took them back, closing the portal behind him. They soon discovered an elderly Ahura dressed as Kang the Conquerer.

(Uncanny Inhumans#3) - Ahura generated psychic doubles who fired arrows, wounding Iso, Forey, and Beast. Iso generated a sandstorm to fight off the doubles. Reader summoned a castle for the group of them to recover while Black Bolt killed the elderly Ahura.

(Uncanny Inhumans#4) - Reader took Iso and the others back in time to Attilan 13,000 years ago, where they met Randac, the great king, and found young Ahura, from the time when Kang had first dropped him off there post-Terrigensis. Kang attacked with an army, but Ahura possessed the villain and convinced him to go away. They all soon returned to the present.

(Gwenpool Special#1) - Iso was among the heroes who attended Hellcat's birthday party.

(Uncanny Inhumans#5) - Iso went with Medusa, and Ahura to the Quiet Room, Black Bolt's club under Grand Central Station, where they were greeted by Flagman. Iso later stood with Black Bolt and Medusa as conflicts broke out in the club.

(Uncanny Inhumans#6) - As Black Bolt battled Ajaxis and Toz nearby, the Inhumas discussed the various crises taking place in the Quiet Room. Iso agreed to handle the Leader and the Mad Thinker, who had activated bombs during a ridiculous conflict over poker. Iso began altering pressure in the brains of the two villains while she asked them questions, and they were soon stammering as she made sure the bombs were deactivated.

(Uncanny Inhumans#7) - Iso saw Black Bolt help settle affairs in the Quiet Room.

(Civil War II#1) - Iso joined Medusa, Triton, Crystal, Beast, Reader (with Forey), Human Torch, Flint, Grid, and Inferno in seeking out the new Inhuman Ulysses, who could read the future. Weeks later, the group of Inhumans joined the Avengers, the Ultimates, the X-Men, the New Avengers, the Avengers Unity Division, A-Force, Shaman, Scarlet Witch, Spider-Man (Peter Parker), Doctor Strange, Son of Satan, S.H.I.E.L.D. in responding to the threat of the Celestial Destructor and its servitors, and the threat was soon averted magically. The heroes later gathered to celebrate.

(Civil War II#2) - Iso walked in, with the Human Torch and Karnak, to see Iron Man attacking Medusa in an attempt to kidnap Ulysses. Crystal, Human Torch, Iso, and Karnak tried to stop Iron Man, who was revealed to be a drone, but he managed to capture Ulysses. Medusa led Reader, Flint, Karnak, Iso, Grid, Triton, Beast, and Crystal to the Triskelion, where they demanded the A.I. Friday reveal Stark to them. S.H.I.E.L.D., the Avengers, and the Ultimates arrived to stop them, asking for a chance to de-escalate the conflict with Stark without violence. They soon found Iron Man, who had freed Ulysses, and Ulysses foresaw an image of the Hulk burning the city and killing heroes, but this time the images projected into the brains of those around them.

(Civil War II: Ulysses Infinite Comic#1) - Iso, Grid, and Medusa delivered Ulysses to Karnak at the Tower of Wisdom for training in his powers. When Karnak manipulated Flint into a fight, Iso threatened Karnak, but avoided using her powers on him.

(Uncanny Avengers#10) - Iso was working on an experiment in New Attilan when Forey came rushing in. She bent to greet Forey just as Capo exited the dog, seeking to possess Iso, whose powers were ineffective against him in ghost form. Reader entered, with Treste, and used his powers to destroy Capo once and for all.

(Uncanny Inhumans#11) - Medusa stood before a group of Inhumans (Iso, Crystal, Karnak, Triton, Grid), the Human Torch, Friday (who Grid disrupted), Captain Marvel, Captain America (Sam Wilson), Black Panther, Spectrum, Maria Hill, Vision, and Thor (Jane Foster) at Stark Tower to make peace. Back in New Attilan, Medusa assigned Iso and Karnak to look into Tony Stark's life so they could find a way to get revenge. McGee offered to help.

(Uncanny Inhumans#12) - When Stark Tower was destroyed, Medusa expected Iron Man would blame the Inhumans, so she put New Attilan on lockdown, and she left Iso in charge of defending the city.

(Spider-Man II#8) - Iso was among the Inhumans who discussed Ulysses's predictions about the Hulk.

(Uncanny Inhumans#13) - Iso and Reader (with Forey) saw Black Bolt and Karnak wait in the throne room, anticipating an attack from Iron Man. They checked in with the soldiers waiting, including Inferno, Grid, Flint, Naja, and Ms. Marvel.

(Uncanny Inhumans#14) - Iron Man's drones took over New Attilan and captured Black Bolt. Iso gathered Reader, Flint, Grid, Naja, Inferno, and others as Karnak challenged her to take control of defending Attilan. Iso lashed out at the drones with her powers, then built a pressure dome over the city, holding off the drones while she inspired the Inhumans to fight for their city. Iso led Grid and Inferno to the throne room, joining Karnak and Triton in fighting to free Black Bolt.

(Uncanny Inhumans#20/2) - Iso joined other Inhumans in celebrating Medusa at the Quiet Room.

(Death of X#1) - Crystal, Gorgon, Flint, Grid, Naja, and Iso approached Matsumoto, Japan aboard the R.I.V. as the Terrigen Cloud approached. Hydra agents attacked and the Inhumans fought back. The Inhumans were nearly overwhelmed before the new Inhuman, Daisuke, attacked and put all the Hydra agents to sleep.

(Death of X#2) - When the mutants realized that the Terrigen Cloud was fatal to mutants, they panicked, and Crystal's team was sent to Barcelona to help save any mutants exposed there. Iso and Crystal worked together to divert the Terrigen Cloud, only successful when Storm aided them. When civilians began to panic, Crystal ordered Daisuke to put everyone in the city to sleep, including the X-Men, while the Inhumans remained immune.

(Death of X#3) - Iso commended Daisuke for using his powers so effectively, and Daisuke chose the name Downer for himself. The X-Men woke up furious and attacked the Inhumans.

(Death of X#4) - After a fight with the X-Men, Iso and the others saw the mutants destroy one of the Terrigen Clouds, and Black Bolt seemingly killed Cyclops.

(Mosaic#6) - Iso was present when the Human Torch entered with a new Inhuman, Mosaic, who could only be seen at particular frequencies.

(IVX#0) - In New Attilan with Beast, Iso worked on curing the M-Pox by studying Terrigen, and she was baffled by Beast's enthusiasm about the research. Iso and Beast delivered technology to the Royal Inhuman Vessel, where they saw Gorgon, Crystal, Flint, and Grid. Beast noticed the Terrigen Cloud was getting smaller. Later, Beast took her to the Savage Land to study Terrigen in a pure environment. When a T-Rex approached, Iso held it off by manipulating its pressure systems.

(IVX#0 - BTS) - Iso provided reports to Medusa about her work.

(IVX#1) - Medusa prepared a new generation of Inhumans for Terrigenesis, including young Valto, and Iso, Inferno, and Irelle were assigned to pilot them up into the Terrigen Cloud, but they became aware that the X-Men had declared war. Inferno and Iso were sent to secure the gates.

(Mosaic#7) - Iso helped Beast examine Mosaic's powers, then Mosaic flirted with her, just before the X-Men attacked the city. Sabretooth sparred with Iso before she fled the city with Inferno.

(IVX#2) - Medusa ordered Iso and Inferno to escape and go find the missing Black Bolt, Karnak, and Crystal. She instructed them that if New Attilan fell, they were to gather resources and win back the city. Inferno and Iso managed to get an airship out of the city while the Human Torch held off Sabretooth. Teen Angel and Wolverine (Laura Kinney) attacked, destroying the small airship, but Inferno and Iso managed to land near Eldrac, the Inhuman door, who'd been stuck on the harbor for a time. Eldrac opened up and sent Iso and Inferno to a new location, where they found Old Man Logan waiting.

(IVX#3) - While Inferno handled Old Man Logan, Iso blew up a machine that was designed to destroy Terrigen, and she knocked out Forge in the process. They escaped on Forge's airship, taking the unconscious mutant with them, then Iso called Ms. Marvel, asking her to gather unaffiliated Inhumans to form a team. She gathered Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, Reader and Forey, Synapse, Quake, Grid, and Mosaic.

(Extraordinary X-Men#19) - Iso stood with the Inhumans against the X-Men in Iceland.

(IVX#4) - Iso kept Forge unconscious, and they soon saw Mosaic return from a mission, having possessed teen Cyclops and stolen the X-Men's ship, with intel about the dispersal of the Terrigen Cloud.

(IVX#5) - Iso, Inferno, Grid, Ms. Marvel, Quake, Moon Girl, and Mosaic, with teen Cyclops and Forge, examined the plans for the Terrigen Eater, and Moon Girl improved on the design. Iso made plans to ask for help from Ennilux to make the modified machine, feeling she had no choice. Iso sent Reader and Synapse to help free Karnak and Lockjaw from the World.

(IVX#6 (fb) - BTS) - Iso went to Ennilux, where Ahura helped them construct the device that would destroy the Terrigen Cloud, realizing that if they failed to do so all mutants on Earth would die.

(IVX#6) - Ennilux took Iso to Iceland, where the Inhumans and X-Men were battling, and she gave the device to Medusa. Medusa pushed the button, destroying the Terrigen Cloud. Medusa destroyed the Cloud, and Emma Frost was exposed as being behind events. She launched a group of Inhuman-hunting Sentinels and they opened fire on the Ennilux ships, killing many. Medusa was ready to defeat Frost, but Havok turned on her and teleported away with Frost. Medusa delivered the news of the Terrigen destruction to her people, then she abdicated the throne, giving it over to Iso. Iso planned to hold elections.

(Inhumans Prime#1) - Iso joined many Inhumans in taking down the Unspoken and Maximus the Mad. Later, Medusa announced that she was stepping down as queen, and she appointed Iso as the acting head of state until a more permanent ruler could be secured. After Medusa seemingly sentenced Maximus (actually Black Bolt) to a castaway prison, and before Medusa left on a mission in space to find the source of Terrigen, Iso gave a speech to the Inhuman populace about their free elections and place in the world.

(Monsters Unleashed II#4) - Iso, Inferno, Spider-Man (Miles Morales), Ren Kimura, and Wolverine (Laura Kinney) acted as protection for Kei Kawade while he drew monsters to battle the Leviathon Horde. When the Horde attacked, Iso fougth back, with Medusa, Elsa Bloodstone, and Karnak joining the battle, as Moon Girl got Kei and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kawade, to safety.

(Royals#1) - Captain Swain piloted a flying car with Iso and Flint to help contain the newly emerged Inhuman, Mrs. Bellhauer. Marvel Boy visited the Inhumans, telling them he could guide them on a mission to space that would teach them all about Terrigenesis, and Medusa chose a team of "Black Bolt" (secretly Maximus), Gorgon, Flint, Captain Swain, and Crystal, leaving Iso in charge, despite her hesitance to let the Royal Family go. Iso was reluctant to let Flint go, but he was very curious about Inhuman heritage and reluctant to accept this would be the last generation of Inhumans.

(Secret Warriors II#2 (fb) ) - Mister Hyde led Hydra forces to take over New Attilan, and Iso was arrested.

(Captain America: Steve Rogers#17) - In the prison, Naja introduced Iso to new Inhuman, Barf.

(Captain America VIII#25 (fb) - BTS) - Barf threw up a key to the cell allowing he and many other Inhumans, including Iso, to stage a jailbreak.

(Captain America VIII#25) - Captain America (Sam Wilson) and other heroes helped the Inhumans escape, and Iso thanked Cap.

(Black Bolt#7) - When an ancient Inhuman ship drew close to Earth, Iso sent a warning to it.

(Black Bolt#8) - Iso realized Black Bolt was aboard the craft and she invited him to land. When Black Bolt landed in the city, Iso, Grid, Naja, Auran, and Frank McGee were ready to attack, assuming it was Maximus in disguise. After Blinky used her powers to show Iso and the others everything Black Bolt had been through in prison, Iso opened up to him about their recent struggles with Hydra and Medusa being lost in space. Panacea entered to heal their wounds.

(Black Bolt#9) - Iso checked in with Black Bolt, who was with Titania, as they headed to Orrolan to save the kidnapped Blinky from Lash. Iso informed them of the bizarre reports coming out of Orrolan lately.

(Secret Warriors II#10 (fb) - BTS) - When an Inhuman child blew up during a Warriors mission, Iso asked the team to lay low and let her handle the situation.

(Secret Warriors II#10) - Iso had Panacea work on stabilizing the other Inhuman children who had been experimented on by Dark Beast and Mr. Sinister, and had Panacea tend to them. She gave advice to Ms. Marvel and Quake to come to her with Inhuman affairs more quickly next time. When Inferno and Magik returned from a mission to Ennilux, they reported that Ahura had taken Karnak's side and attacked them, and Iso struggled to believe it. Inferno walked away in frustration from Iso, feeling like she was blaming him. When Inferno attacked the Inhuman throne, breaking it, and stole a ship, Iso led her armed guards to confront the Warriors team.

(Secret Warriors II#11) - Iso moved to arrest the Warriors, but Magik teleported them away.

(Secret Warriors II#11 - BTS) - Ahura went to New Attilan and explained how Karnak had been conspiring to take over Ennilux, giving latent Inhumans to Mr. Sinister for experimentation, and seeking to overthrow Iso. Later, Magik returned to get Iso and the Inhuman force (including Kacy, Flagman, Naja, Reader, Frank McGee, Grid, Auran, Mosaic, Panacea, and others) and they teleported to the Tower of Wisdom, where they helped defeat Mr. Sinister and the Unhumans. Karnak tried convincing others to put Moon Girl in charge of the Inhumans, but she didn't want that, and Iso exposed Karnak for his crimes. Working with Ahura, Iso decided to destroy Mr. Sinister's Terrigen research, not wanting to build the future of the Inhumans on trauma and tragedy. After having Quake destroy the Tower of Wisdom, Iso invited the Warriors back to New Attilan as her advisors, but they all refused. Iso then banished Inferno for his betrayals.

(Marvel Rising II#3) - Mosaic stood with Iso and Frank McGee when the forces of Morgan le Fey attacked New Attilan. They were surprised to see Inferno loyal to her, under a spell. Morgan disappeared for a time and returned with her forces. Iso led the defense with Inhumans, including Emulator, and they were soon joined by Ms. America, Quake, Squirrel Girl, Spider-Man (Miles Morales), and Tippy-Toe. Le Fey soon pressed her attack by activating Treshie the Trash Monster.

(Marvel Rising II#4) - Iso stood with the heroes against Morgan le Fey and Treshie.

(Marvel Rising II#5) - The heroes defeated Morgan by turning Treshie against her. Iso helped others with the clean-up of New Attilan, and she agreed to end Inferno's banishment.
