(September, 1996);
(Rikki Barnes) Captain America II#1 (November, 1996);
(Bucky) Captain America II#6 (April, 1997);
(Nomad) Nomad: Girl Without a World#2 (November, 2009)
Powers/Abilities: High School graduate, S.H.I.E.L.D. Training, Epic Hacker Skillz, years of dancing practice (not good enough to get into Julliard, but good nonetheless). During her time with the Young Allies on her original earth, Rikki possessed pilot goggles which she could use to scan the environment, and a vibranium based arsenal which increased her combat abilities. It is unclear if she still possesses that. During her time as Nomad she had access to throwable discs. Following a team up with Black Widow, her discs were updated from merely being metal to having a variety of abilities, such as sonic blasts or flashbangs. In more recent years she seems to no longer have these. She also possesses a photon shield which has been traditionally a solid triangular object, while recently it has been a throwable circle.
Height: 5'4"
Weight: 98 lbs
Eyes: Hazel
Hair: Brown; formerly reddish brown (see comments)
History:
(Captain America II#1 - BTS) Ever since Rikki was 4 years old, she
fervently practiced dancing, to such an extent that she would frequently
blow off social events and saved money to go see ballets.
(Captain America V#615/2 (fb) - BTS) - Rikki and her parents used to frequent local Philadelphia coffee shop Rob & Jeph's.
(Captain America II#1 - BTS) - Eventually, Rikki's parents
both died, leading Rikki and her brother John to be sent to live with
Richard and Peggy, their grandparents.
(Captain America II#11 (fb) - BTS) - Rikki's best friend
was named a cheerleader named Mandy. They drifted apart around the time
that Mandy became pregnant. Rikki never found out if Mandy and the
quarterback who had impregnated her got married.
(Captain America II#2 (fb) - BTS) - Rikki had been talking
self-defense classes.
(Captain America II#1 - BTS) She made a deal with her grandparents that if she got a scholarship, she could go to Julliard. Unfortunately, she was turned down.
(Onslaught:
Marvel Universe #1 - BTS) - When most of the avengers and all of the
Fantastic Four sacrificed themselves to stop Onslaught, Franklin
Richards created a pocket dimension for them to live in, a world fully
populated with people who have lifetimes worth of memories, despite
having just been created. As such, all preceding details about Rikki
are, in fact, fabricated, and never really happened.
(Captain America II#1) - Rikki was sitting around
Philadelphia, contemplating her unfortunate circumstances in life, when
her brother John and his friend Gus came to tell her about how they were
going to the World Party rally that night. She tried to dissuade them,
but her efforts failed, and they left unabated.
(Captain America II#2) - The next day, Rikki awoke to the
sound of her brother, newly shaved, taking his things to leave and join
up with the World Party permanently. She tried in vain once more to
convince him not to do this, but in the end, he left, jumping out of the
second-story window of her bedroom.
(Captain America II#4) - Deciding to check up on the
obviously bad things the obviously evil World Party is doing, Rikki
snuck into their warehouse headquarters and spied on them, where she
overheard that they had captured the recently revived Captain America in
the basement. Her brother John and his friend Gus then found her, and
held her at gunpoint. She tried one more time to get John to stop this,
pointing out that the World Party are clearly nazis, and once more
failed. Eventually, she knocked the gun out of his hand and ran away to
call the cops, but before she could escape she ran directly into the Red
Skull himself. After she mocked him, he had her strapped to one of the
nuclear warheads the party was planning to launch in order to bring down
democracy, which was guarded by John and Gus.
(Captain America II#5) - Still tied to the warhead, she
kept talking to John. When informed that the warhead was aimed directly
at Los Angeles, she once more did her attempts to talk them down from
this. Just when it seemed like she might be getting to Gus, the World
Party's frontman Master Man entered the room. Just as he was about to
launch the bombs, Captain America's shield came flying through, severing
Rikki's bonds. As Captain America took on Master Man, Rikki used her
dancing self defense skills to knock out both John and Gus. She then
chose to bravely leap in to help Cap in the fight knocking Master Man
off balance and the detonator out of his hands. As Master Man stood over
Rikki, about to take the detonator, Sam Wilson triumphantly came in and
knocked him out, before he and Cap worked together to knock MM into the
silo. When Nick Fury arrived from SHIELD to pick up afterwards, she gave
Cap the detonator.
(Captain America II#6 - BTS) - Following those events,
Captain America took her on as his new protegee, giving her the name and
costume of his World War II sidekick Bucky.
(Heroes Reborn I#½) - The Watcher looked at the goings on
of the Heroes Reborn universe, including those of Rikki.
(Captain America II#6 - BTS) - Rikki Barnes was in the
bathroom when Baron Zemo and MODOK took control of the SHIELD
Helicarrier for A.I.M.
(Captain America II#6) - Bucky and Cap, along with an
interdimensional traveler named Cable, worked together to defeat the
forces of AIM, before Cable was sent back to his home dimension.
(Captain America II#8) - Rikki was left behind by Cap as
he went off to search for the spirit of America.
(Captain America II#12 (fb) BTS/Captain America V#603 (fb)
- BTS) - Rikki got top-notch training from SHIELD.
(Captain
America V#613/2 (fb) - BTS) - This training included Muay Thai from
agent Erica Fowler.
(Captain America II#10 (fb)) - Following the trail of
racist hate-group the Sons of the Serpent, Captain America briefly
returned to the SHIELD Helicarrier, where he and Rikki briefly exchanged
words. They agreed that after Cap had gotten to the bottom of this case,
they would try to get to know each other and become friends. He also
encouraged her to discover what was going on with the strange coldness
she felt regarding SHIELD.
(Captain America II#10) - While Captain America
investigated the Sons of the Serpent, Bucky stayed behind to snoop
around the Helicarrier.
(Captain America II#11) - While sneaking around on the
Helicarrier, Bucky found out about a restricted cell with a prisoner in
it. After steeling her nerves, she beat up the guards in 23 seconds,
promising herself that she would get Captain America to train her to be
better. She opened the cell and found the "real" Nick Fury. She freed
him, and brought him to the SoS headquarters, where he shot down the LMD
duplicate who had been impersonating him the whole time.
(Fantastic Four II#12 - BTS) - Rikki was among the
citizens of Counter-Earth who was eaten by Galactus, before Doctor Doom
time traveled back to try again.
(Avengers II#12 - BTS) - Rikki was destroyed once more
before Doom traveled back in time and undid it.
(Iron Man II#12 - BTS) - Doctor Doom downloaded secret
SHIELD files which marked Rikki as a "temporal anomaly" before he
travelled back in time to before Galactus attacked.
(Captain America II#12) - Rikki Barnes decided to return
to her grandparent's house for advice, but when she got there Doctor
Doom had blown the place up.
Doom then proceeded to grab and threaten
Rikki; she escaped his grasp with surprising ease. After Doom implied he
had killed her grandparents, and then got her on the ropes again, Cap
came to her rescue. Doom described the battle being waged by Galactus'
heralds and the Fantastic Four, before he and Cap went to get the
Avengers and help in the fight. As the Knights of the Atomic Round Table
(Doom, Reed Richards, Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Rebel O'Reilly)
formulated a plan to save the world, Rikki hung out at Avengers Mansion,
feeling out of place. She wandered outside, where she met with the
Silver Surfer.
He tried to convince her that, in order to
save anyone, she had to convince the heroes that Galactus could not be
stopped. She disagreed with this idea, chasing after the Surfer as he
tried to leave. She grabbed hold of his board, and Captain America
noticed, chasing after on his motorcycle; creating a scene which
mimicked the death of the main universe's Bucky Barnes. Galactus zapped
her off the Surfer's board with his eye lasers, causing her to fall into
a nearby lake. Cap dove in to rescue her, and brought her near-death
body back to Avengers Mansion, where she was rushed to medical help. Her
near-death inspired the Silver Surfer to help the heroes against
Galactus, sacrificing himself to stop Galactus once and for all.
(Captain America II#12 - BTS) Richard and Peggy, alive and
well, were assured by the SHIELD medical staff that Rikki would survive.
(Captain America II#12 - BTS/Fantastic Four II#13 - BTS) -
Because of Doctor Doom's efforts to defeat Galactus, the timestream of
the Heroes Reborn pocket dimension was fractured, merging with another
nearby universe: The Wildstorm Universe.
(Iron Man II#13 (fb)) - In the warped timestream created
by Doctor Doom's efforts to defeat Galactus, Captain America led many
people, including Bucky, into a battle against the Skrulls and
Demonites. This battle went horribly wrong, killing Bucky and leading to
Captain America quitting being Captain America and becoming Nomad.
(Captain America II#13) - The Rick Jones of Counter-Earth
(Franklin) destroyed the machine keeping the universes merged, restoring
Counter-Earth (Franklin) to its former state.
(Captain America V#610/2 (fb) - BTS) - Rikki and Cap used
to go bowling; Rikki always felt that Cap was going easy on her.
(Heroes Reborn: The Return I#3) - Bucky and Falcon were
patrolling the streets of Manhattan, stopping looting and searching for
Captain America. They were struck by the sudden appearance of a
Celestial in the sky.
(Heroes Reborn: The Return I#4) - Captain America
explained to Rikki that he and Falcon would be leaving, but that she
could not come along with. He refused to explain why, so she was quite
annoyed, although she'd never admit it. Later, Rikki was the only one
who did not join in the celebrations of the end of the terrible weather.
(Heroes Reborn: Doomsday I#1 - BTS) Despite the promise
made, due to the malignant influence of the Tiamut, the Dreaming
Celestial, the disasters returned and the world fell back into chaos.
(Heroes Reborn: Young Allies I#1 - (fb) BTS) - Following
Counter-Earth (Franklin) plunging into Chaos, Rikki continued to fight
the enemies, eventually founding a team of Young Allies alongside Toro
(Benito Serrano) and I.Q. (Ishmael Questor). At some point she stole
Vibranium soled-boots, Vibranium Brass knuckles from the remnants of
Wakanda.
(Heroes Reborn: Young Allies I#1) - Under the advice of
I.Q., Bucky and Toro went to rescue human/Kymellian hybrid Elric
Freedom, who went by the name of Kid Colt. After they rescued him from
the SHIELD agents who were pursuing him, he gave some food to the
locals, and he agreed to join up with them.
Using a hijacked SHIELD plane, they travelled
to Rikki's Grandparent's apartment in Philly. Rikki introduced her
grandparents to her new friend, and then she went upstairs to contact
I.Q. while Benny and Elric stayed downstairs for some food. Using I.Q.'s
telepathic abilities, they talked about the dangerous energy signatures
that I.Q. was detecting in Muir Island. Rikki convinced Elric to allow
I.Q. to telepathically communicate with him and strengthen his power,
which he did, and so Elric teleported the Young Allies to Muir Island.
After an awkward landing, Elric accidentally
triggered the alarm system, causing guards to come and try to stop them;
Rikki singlehandedly took down the guards, joking that when an actual
threat came she would be unable to do anything. In any event, they went
inside of the main building, where Leland Walker was attempting to
summon and tap into the "Rip" energy, in an effort to defeat Doctor
Doom. I.Q. informed them that the Rip was actually a living being that
Leland was killing, and so Rikki rallied the Young Allies against him.
Using a strategy developed by I.Q., they split Leland into two beings,
who Kid Colt named Order and Kaos [sic], who were guardians and judges
of Counter-Earth (Franklin). They agreed to join the Young Allies to
figure out what the fate of Counter-Earth (Franklin) would be.
(Heroes Reborn: Doom I#1 - BTS) - Along with the rest of
Franklin Richard's duplicate earth, Rikki was moved from its pocket
universe to the main universe by Doctor Doom so that it would not be
destroyed by the Celestials.
(Thunderbolts I#52 (fb) - BTS) - The Young Allies opposed
Dr. Doom's tyrannical rule on Counter-Earth a.k.a. Planet Doom.
(Thunderbolts I#52 (fb) ) - Kid Colt opened a portal for
Bucky and Toro to Earth. Bucky and Toro used it to get to Latveria and
threaten the land with a biochemical gas to force Dr. Doom to retire
from his rule on Counter-Earth.
(Thunderbolts I#51 - BTS) - Dr. Doom showed Captain
America and the Redeemers a holographic image of the terrorists
threatening Latveria: the Young Allies (Bucky, Kid Colt and Toro) from
Counter-Earth.
(Thunderbolts I#52 - BTS) - Rikki hijacked Doctor Doom's
security robots, turning them against the Redeemers. When they defeated
the robots, she had Benny launch a rockslide to delay them.
(Thunderbolts I#52) - Rikki and Benny resigned themselves
to the morally questionable plan of threatening Latveria, and as Rikki
was about to begin to plant the biochemical weapon, she was hit from
behind by a blast from the Fixer. A fight between the members of the
Young Allies who were there and the Redeemers ensued. Eventually, When
Captain America stepped in to the battle, Rikki and Benny stopped
fighting briefly. Then, Toro tossed Rikki over to the gas canister,
which she broke open with Captain America's shield. After Captain
America, who did not remember his time on Counter-Earth anymore,
implored Rikki not to kill the people of Latveria, she shot back by
telling him about the state Counter-Earth fell into after Cap and the
rest of the Heroes left. She then revealed that the gas threat was a
fake, and returned to Counter-Earth.
(Thunderbolts I#60 - BTS) - When the Thunderbolts got
stranded on Counter-Earth Jolt mentioned the Young Allies as some of the
few remaining heroes forced to deal with natural disasters and cosmic
threats.
(Thunderbolts I#62) - The Young Allies witnessed on TV the
take-off a rocket carrying a satellite to grant Germany sole access to
global communications. The stranded Thunderbolts destroyed the rocket to
prevent Germany taking full control over the world economy.
(Thunderbolts
I#72 (fb) - BTS) - The Young Allies learned a giant alien ship on both
planets at the bottom of the Mir diamond mine in Russia had become a
connection between Counter-Earth and Earth. The Rip concluded that Earth
had to die for Counter-Earth to keep existing. The other Young Allies
didn't like the idea to sacrifice an Earth for the other and traveled to
the ship's location to find a way to save both Earths.
(Thunderbolts I#72) - The Young Allies confronted the
Thunderbolts at the ship in the Mir mine. Rip revealed that Earth had to
be sacrificed angering the Thunderbolts. While Bucky told Jolt that the
Young Allies were actually searching for a way to save both Earths while
their teammates fought each other. During the fight Moonstone nearly
knocked out Toro with a single punch. Anomaly stopped the fight
explaining once again that only one Earth could survive. Baron Zemo
offered him his help!
(Thunderbolts I#74) - Toro brought Bucky, who woke up
last, up-to-date of the occurrences at the ship. While the others worked
on the ship, Rikki convinced I.Q. to contact Zemo and came up with a
plan to save both Earths by covering the ship in a bioelectro-ionic
field, using the powers of Atlas and Jolt, to cut off the connection
between the ship on Counter-Earth and its counterpart on Earth. A short
time later the Young Allies witnessed the plan succeed. Fixer saved
Jolt's life, who would have lost her life in the process, by grounding
her and as a result stranding her on Counter-Earth. Toro caught Jolt,
who only wanted to know if the plan had worked. It did!
(Thunderbolts I#75) - Kid Colt teleported the Young Allies
to Attilan in front of a cheering crowd, who recognized Jolt as one of
their saviors the Thunderbolts, but not the others. Jolt asked the team
to keep saving Counter-Earth and they agreed to her plan.
(Young Allies II#3 (fb) - BTS) - At some point Bucky
entered into some sort of romantic relationship with Toro.
(Exiles I#81 - BTS) - The Young Allies continued to work
with Jolt to make the Counter-Earth more livable.
(Exiles I#72 (fb)) - Bucky and Cap were glimpsed by
Proetus when he saw glimpses of other universes.
(Exiles I#81) - Bucky and the other Young Allies were
waiting for Dorma when the Statue of Liberty, animated by Proteus of
Earth-58163, stranded on Counter-Earth after Earth-3470's Heather
Hudson, a member of the Exiles, tricked him to go there instead of Earth
in Reality-616. They took Proteus back to Attilan after he handed over
the Atlanteans' missile and offered them his aid against their enemies
in return for their aid against his enemies: the Exiles. Bucky told
Proteus everything to there is to know about Counter-Earth. When the
Exiles arrived on Counter-Earth to capture Proteus they were opposed by
the Young Allies, who were shocked when Proteus turned out to be utterly
evil. The Rip, deciding Proteus was the being able to judge
Counter-Earth once and for all, then took Proteus away, leaving the
Exiles and the Young Allies behind on Attilan.
(Exiles I#82) - The Young Allies explained to the Exiles
who the Rip was. When both teams arrived in Atlantis they found the
Atlanteans including Dorma dead as they city had been lifted from the
ocean by Proteus and the Atlanteans couldn't survive outside the water.
Proteus fired the Atlanteans' rockets and Jolt and Kid Colt did their
best to stop them, while Bucky and the rest attempted to defeat Proteus
before his reality altering powers defeated them. Meanwhile Blink had
put a behavior modifier into Dorma's crown, which the proud Proteus put
on. Proteus' mind was modified to only access its host Morph's memories,
defeating him.
After the Exiles' Heather Hudson sent the
remaining rockets into space the Young Allies thanked the Exiles for
their aid against Dorma and Proteus.
(Future Foundation I#3 (fb)) - The Young Allies continued
to operate after that, and while on a mission Rikki was shot by an
unidentified sniper and died.
(Onslaught Reborn I#1 - BTS/Future Foundation I#3 (fb) -
BTS) - When Franklin Richards created a new pocket dimension to escape
from the return of Onslaught, he took Rikki's soul from Counter-Earth
(Franklin) and placed it into the new dimension, giving her another
history.
(Onslaught Reborn I#2 (fb) - BTS) - Rikki Barnes had
always thought Captain America, the greatest hero of World War II, was
the coolest thing. After Rikki Barnes failed to get into Julliard, she
got taken on by Captain America as his new partner. She got the title of
Bucky after Cap's (male) WWII partner. In this role, she became a member
of the Avengers.
(Onslaught Reborn I#1) - Rikki was out on patrol one day,
when, on top of the George Washington Bridge, she found a small boy
named Franklin Richards. Franklin said he was hiding, and that he was
the child of the Invisible Woman and Mister Fantastic, which confused
Rikki, since Reed Richards and Sue Storm aren't even married as far as
she knew. Upon asking him what he was hiding from, Onslaught appeared,
shocking both her and Franklin.
(Onslaught Reborn I#2) - Rikki took Franklin and ran away from
the monster, they feel off the bridge. Rikki used a rope to save both
her and Franklin from falling to their death. Once Captain America,
followed by Iron Man and Thor, arrived, they got back on top of the
roof. After the Avengers knocked Onslaught off the bridge, a quinjet
arrived and Rikki and Franklin went with the rest of them to the Baxter
Building. Upon arrival, Rikki asked Franklin how she existed, since she
post-dates Cap and the rest of the Avengers. She didn't get a response,
as Franklin first went off to hug his "mom", and then the Hulk threw
Thor, who was secretly possessed by Onslaught, through the building.
Captain America then had Rikki bring Franklin to Avengers mansion while
the rest of the Avengers took on the possessed Hulk.
(Onslaught Reborn I#3) - While the Heroes launched an
offensive against Onslaught, Rikki and Franklin stayed behind at
Avenger's Mansion. As Rikki was bringing Franklin some cheerios, Loki,
along with a menagerie of other Avengers villains, appeared in the
study. This caused Rikki to drop the tray of Cheerios on the ground.
(Onslaught Reborn I#4) - Rikki and Franklin stood against
Loki, before Wonder Man, who Loki had sent to search the mansion
previously, returned. Then the Vision, came up out of the floor,
incapacitating Wonder Man before Ant-Man and the Invisible Woman, who
had been hiding, also attacked. They very nearly took out Loki's group
before Loki managed to get the upper hand until Thor and the Avengers
arrived and knocked him over. Under Thor's threat, Loki divulged his
plan of killing Franklin Richards to save the world from Onslaught's
attack. A plan which, to Rikki and Franklin's shock, Reed Richards had
no choice but to agree to.
(Onslaught Reborn I#5) - After some debate, all the heroes
and villains, including Rikki, returned to the Baxter Building to finish
Onslaught once and for all. Rikki was given the very important task of
using the Fantasticar to drive Franklin away from the fight if things
started going poorly. Rikki had to have Franklin explain to her who
Wolverine was, once Hawkeye took off his mask and revealed himself.
Finally, all the heroes, along with the villains, launched a
concentrated assault on Onslaught. As a last-ditch effort, Onslaught
reached out to grab Franklin...
And then Rikki pushed Franklin out of the
way, and triumphantly used the Fantasticar to push Onslaught into the
Negative Zone, sacrificing herself. Captain America and all the rest
grieved for her and created a statue in her honor.
(Onslaught Unleashed I#3 (fb)) - Rikki found herself
alive, but floating in the Negative Zone until Onslaught reached out and
took control of her, sending her to the main universe as his emissary.
(Onslaught Reborn I#5/Onslaught Unleashed I#3 (fb)) -
Rikki found herself alive and well in Philadelphia of the main universe;
until she looked over to see a newspaper reporting that Captain America
was at that time deceased following the events of the civil war.
(Nomad: Girl Without a World I#1 - BTS) - Rikki discovered that
there existed a duplicate of her brother in the new universe, so she
forged papers to get enrolled at Aiken Garvey High School under the name
"Rikki Baines".
(Captain America V#600) - Beginning to settle in to the
new universe, Rikki used her computer skills to find out about Isaiah
Bradley, the secret attempt to recreate Captain America in WWII. She
also found out about his grandson Elijah, who she deduced was the new
Patriot.
(Captain America V#600) - Rikki sneakily eavesdropped as
Elijah was told off by the school principal for wanting to honor Captain
America at the school assembly. Later, ditching school, she followed him
home, watching through the window as Elijah's grandmother fed Isaiah his
food. She was saddened by what had become of this former Captain America
when she noticed Elijah leaving as Patriot, running across the rooftops.
She followed him, until eventually he got the drop on her, striking her
with his shield.
Eventually, they got to talking, and she
explained who she was. He understood her circumstances, but did not want
to introduce her to the new Captain America. Eventually, they agreed to
go to the vigil later that day, along with the rest of Elijah's friends.
(Captain America V#600 - BTS) - Rikki, along with Patriot
and the Young Avengers, attended the vigil held on the one year
anniversary of the death of Captain America.
(Nomad: Girl Without a World I#1 (fb) - BTS) - Checking
out the fate of her family (strictly speaking their counterparts) in
this world, Rikki learned that this world's version of her brother John
seemed to be a better person that her world's dirtbag version. Hoping to
forge a better relationship with this John, in part because doing so
would help her feel she belonged in this different Earth, Rikki chose to
stay in Manhattan and forged documents to become Rikki "Baines" and
attend John's school, Aiken Garvey High.
(Nomad: Girl Without a World I#1) - In order to make money
in this new world, where she legally did not exist, Rikki got a job
washing dishes for cash under the table. She also got herself a small
apartment, where she was when she heard on the police scanner that
Captain America was fighting some goons outside a concert. She suited up
as Bucky and rushed over there, to introduce herself to the new Cap.
Before she could do so, however, she was interrupted by the Black Widow.
Natasha told her off and said that this Captain America meeting a Bucky
was a bad idea (because he was James "Bucky" Barnes, though the Widow
did not mention this to Rikki), delaying Rikki long enough for Cap to
ride away on his motorbike.
The next day, Rikki went to school, where she
met with the counterpart to her brother. They talked briefly, before
heading to class. While in Mister
Doctor Powers' Political Science class, they received an impassioned
speech about the importance of democracy, before then going to the
school assembly. There, they heard from two people: a girl who delivered
a long dry speech, and Desmond Daniels, who delivered an impassioned
speech about civic responsibility which got wide swaths of the student
body enthused.
Suspiciously wide swaths. Five students, all
from vastly different social strata, actively stood up and cheered,
which Rikki found suspicious. As she was talking about this with John,
Manuel (a big-time nerd) and Naomi (a popular girl) teamed up against
two other students' public display of affection. Rikki proceeded to
follow them throughout the rest of the school day, noticing that this is
a pattern. After the school day ended, she followed them into the
school, which they were accessing after hours. She followed them into a
secret lair underneath the custodial supplies... where Mad Dog was lurking
and them slashed her. She fought him briefly, and then ran away,
straight back to her apartment, without looking back. Upon arriving back
up, she found someone had broken in and left a suitcase with a Nomad
costume and a file on Nomad.
(Nomad: Girl Without a World I#2) - A day or two later,
Rikki was in line at a local coffee shop, but realized she had
insufficient funds to pay for anything with her limited funds.
Thankfully, John showed up and paid for her. They talked for a while,
and John explained how his parents were both dead (as was the Rikki
equivalent in this universe). As Rikki fought back tears at this news, a
bomb went off, blowing through the window. Leaving an unconscious John
in the care of an off-duty EMT who had also been in the coffee shop,
Rikki rushed out to go stop the bomber, the radical anti-nationalist
known as the Flag-Smasher. They fought until the Falcon showed up,
ending the fight with a boot to the Flag-Smasher's face. After
confirming John was in the care of an ambulance crew Rikki and the
Falcon talked briefly; she surprised him by revealing she knew his true
identity, and she explained her backstory. After offering her
reassurance, he flew away.
Later, Rikki was sitting in Mister
Doctor Powers' class, where was giving a lecture about the Flag-Smasher,
until it was interrupted by the information that Desmond Daniels was
giving a speech in the lunch room, which all the students rushed out to
see. Later, once John had been released from the hospital, she went to
see him. They talked, and he, misinterpreting the signs Rikki was
sending, leaned in to kiss her. She didn't let this happen, since she
is, you know, his sister kinda sorta, but the interaction was still
incredibly awkward and sent her into a funk for the next couple days.
She went out for patrol come nighttime, just missing seeing John talking
to that suspicious group of students.
(Nomad: Girl Without a World I#3) - A week later, Rikki
attempted to talk to John, who, still feeling resentful over the
previous events, refused to speak to her. So, Rikki focused herself into
her superheroing, beating up some drug dealers. She was running across
the rooftops, trying to clear her head, when she subconsciously ran to
Desmond's home. Wondering why she did this, and if she was really going
to break into and rummage through his home, she was interrupted by a
flying cloaked figure, who somehow knew her name (albeit not her real
name, the one she had given the school, but still). The figure then
launched green energy balls at her, which she bounced off using her
photon shield, jumping up towards him. She was then blasted back,
falling on a nearby rooftop where Mad Dog was waiting... who then slashed
her again. She fell unconscious.
When she awoke, she was in an underground
lair, where she had a brainwashing machine used on her until she
eventually broke. She was then made to go Desmond Daniel's rally, where
she endorsed him and then publicly unmasked in front of the student
body. When John tried to talk to her, she was removed by two of the
original five students. Finally, she was in the room with the cloaked
figure as he called with his superiors. They ordered him to kill her, a
task which he proceeded to prepare to follow through. However, first she
recognized that he was, in fact, her teacher Doctor Powers who then
revealed himself to actually be Professor Power of the Secret Empire.
(Nomad: Girl Without a World I#4) - Due presumably to the
shock of finding out that her teacher was in fact a supervillain, Rikki
snapped out of the mind control. As Professor Power called with his
superiors in the Secret Empire to caution them against continuing the
program, Rikki broke free of her bonds. She expertly took down both Mad
Dog and Professor Power, before running into another room, which had her
goggles in it. It also had a TV screen, which showed the rioting
currently occurring due to Desmond Daniels' successful election. While
berating the members of the Secret Empire who were also calling into
this room, Rikki had a realization, and ran off to get help.
Rikki got the Young Avengers, and worked with
them to subdue the rioters. Eventually, since the direct approach was
not working, she got Speed to run and get Desmond Daniels. Desmond
delivered an impassioned speech about how he never wanted this, and the
rioting stopped. Rikki searched the crowd for John, unable to find him
until she heard a gunshot. Rushing over to where the shot occurred, she
found Matthew Surman, one of the original Desmond Daniels supporters,
standing over John with a gun, having just shot him. She punched Surman
in the face, before weeping over John's dead body.
Later, Rikki went to John's grave in Philly,
bringing him flowers and apologizing for getting him killed. Having
heard about Rikki from Patriot, the new Captain America (James "Bucky"
Barnes) came up behind her, told her not to blame herself and gave her
an inspirational speech, and then left. As he left, Rikki asked him if
he had been the one who gave her the Nomad suit, to which he replied no,
leaving Rikki unclear as to who her mysterious benefactor was - unaware
that the benefactor, Black Widow, was watching them through binoculars.
Later, Rikki used a bank ATM to contact the Secret Empire and warn them
that she was going to be coming after them. She then ran across the
rooftops, happy that she'd finally found a semblance of purpose.
(Captain America V#602/2 - BTS) - Since she couldn't
return to where she had been as Rikki Baines, person of interest in the
riots, Rikki moved into a tiny abandoned, boarded up shack of an
apartment. Rikki also did her research on the Secret Empire and Mad Dog,
finding out that Mad Dog was in fact Robert Baxter, and he was married
to Rachel Ford.
(Captain America V#602/2) - Rikki was watching outside
Rachel's house, waiting to see if Mad Dog would arrive there. As she
attempted to talk to him and get through to the man inside the beast,
Araña came leaping in. This caused Mad Dog to throw her at Rikki, before
he ran away into the sewers. Despite Araña's reservations about entering
the sewers, they both followed Mad Dog. After Rikki detailed strategy,
they arrived at a central location in the sewers, where, you know, the
stuff that's in sewers congregates. Mad Dog snuck up behind them, and
when Araña noticed, she pushed Rikki away before he could attack,
unfortunately into the sewer water. Between them the two heroines forced
Mad Dog back, and Rikki attempted to talk him into betraying the Secret
Empire. However, just as she seemed to be getting through to him some
Secret Empire drones showed up and zapped Mad Dog with green energy.
(Captain America V#603/2) - After three minutes of
fighting, Rikki and Araña managed to take down one of the three drones.
Through managing to overcome some of their differences, they took down
the second one much faster, but not fast enough to prevent the third one
from taking Mad Dog away. Angry at what she perceived as Araña getting
in the way, Rikki angrily stormed off, telling her to stay away.
Later on, Rikki was unable to find any
further information on the Secret Empire or Mad Dog while at a local
internet cafe. Distraught, she walked around town, got a snack, and then
sat on a park bench. While she sat there, she had a revelation, and
rushed off to return to the sewers. While noticing that it was all empty
with no evidence that the Secret Empire had never been there, she met
Araña again. Aran asked to be able to help Rikki, since she had found a
lead.
(Captain America V#604/2) - Rikki and Araña ran across
rooftops to an ad agency which Araña had found was paying Mad Dog's
ex-wife a stipend, and so therefore was likely involved in the Secret
Empire. They broke in fairly easily (suspiciously easily, Rikki thought,
since she still didn't fully trust Araña at this point). Rikki used her
SHIELD training to look through the agency's computers, as Araña went
off to keep lookout. But once Araña exited the room, the door slammed
down. Rikki took this as confirmation of her suspicions about Araña.
Professor Power appeared on the TV in the room, and taunted Rikki, while
releasing gas intended to kill Rikki. Rikki managed to break the
telescreen before falling unconscious, but she did eventually start
succumbing to the gas. Eventually, Araña broke into the room, and found
Rikki lying on the ground, foaming at the mouth.
(Captain America V#605/2 - BTS) - Araña rushed Nomad to
the Night Nurse, who treated her for five days before finding a way to
wake her up.
(Captain America V#605/2) - Rikki had a dream of the good
old days on her original universe. However, she woke up to find herself
in the Night Nurse's underground clinic. The Night Nurse informed Rikki
that she had been unconscious for five whole days.
(Captain America V#605/2 - BTS) - Rikki used her awesome
hacker skills to find out Araña's secret identity as Anya Sofia Corazon,
and then left a note for her in her school locker. She also used them to
forge her way into Araña's school.
(Captain America V#605/2) - Nomad and Araña talked on the
roof of the school. The Secret Empire had removed all evidence from the
Ad Agency, covering their tracks very well, so Nomad's hit a dead end.
They talked; Araña admired Nomad for having a purpose, a goal in taking
down the Secret Empire, and they agreed to work together more in the
future. Nomad leapt off the roof, happy to have finally found something
in this world (Araña) that made sense. Later, Rikki arrived at Araña's
school, and introduced herself to her unmasked, and they shook hands.
(Captain America V#606/2 - BTS) - Rikki acclimated herself
to life at the new school fairly quickly. She became kind of a social
outcast, but ah well. She also continued living in the abandoned
apartment.
(Captain America V#606/2) - At school one day, Anya and
Rikki talked a bit, Rikki continues to refuse to Anya that's she's
secretly homeless. While Rikki sat at lunch, some girls mocked her
behind her back for being poor. That evening, Rikki went to a soup
kitchen. She attempted to get an under the table job, but was rejected,
just as she rejected the manager's offer of government assistance.
Afterwards, as she was walking away, Bernard, a somewhat creepy older
guy, came up to her. He offered to, if she did some odd jobs around his
apartment, he'd give her some of his dead daughter Sophie's clothes.
Rikki agreed to the job. She did some general cleaning and repairs, and
Bernard was impressed by her work ethic. They talked a bit about what
happened with Sophie, and then Bernard showed her to the basement, where
he kept Sophie's old clothes. Rikki went down there, and while she was
looking at the clothes, the door closed behind her. Berating herself for
blindly trusting this guy when she found a skeletal hand on the ground.
(Captain America V#607/2) - Rikki continued to search in
the basement, finding five different sets of remains. Eventually, she
heard Bernard's voice coming from upstairs, calling her "Sophie", and
saying it was time to talk. Rikki tried to tell him that she isn't
Sophie, but he was having none of it. Eventually, he opened the door.
Rikki waited five minutes for him to come down, before finally going
upstairs herself. Rikki went into the kitchen, told him she wouldn't be
leaving to get his guard down, and then knocked him over. She called the
cops, who came and found four additional bodies, a total of 9. She
burned the clothes of the girls Bernard had killed. The next day, Rikki
was once again mocked by some girls at school for wearing the same
clothes again.
(Captain America V#608/2 (fb) - BTS) - Rikki overheard
some neo-Nazis bragging about how they had beaten a gay couple
near-death, so she followed them to a larger meeting.
(Captain America V#608/2) - Nomad beat up a large number
of neo-Nazis. Eventually, she grabbed one and interrogated him about
their larger plan. As she did so, another of their number snuck up
behind her with a gun. He was defeated by none other than Steve Rogers,
the former Captain America. Shortly thereafter, the two of them talked
at a diner. Rikki talked about how she felt her involvement had led to
this universe's version of John Barnes' death, and Steve reveled that,
while he didn't fully recall his time in the Heroes Reborn universe, he
still had some memories of it. Crying, she hugged him, and he told her
that she can give up being Nomad.
(Captain America V#609/2 (fb) - BTS) - Rikki told him
she'd think about it, and Steve gave her a card she could use to contact
him.
(Captain America V#609/2) - Three days later, Rikki and
Anya were walking around school, and they discussed the decision Rikki
was having to make. Anya cautioned her against it, since Rikki had no
idea what she'd even do if she gave up being Nomad. In any case, Anya
gave Rikki a burner phone that they could use, to stay in touch while
doing the superheroing. Not that that would be useful, if Rikki did give
it up. Later, Rikki sat in the cafeteria, considering calling Steve to
say yes when she noticed a fellow student who she had beaten up the
previous night. She followed him home, discovering that his dad was in
fact the leader of the group. Nomad followed them to a meeting later
that night, where she listened to them detail their plan to kill a
congressman.
Rikki's phone started ringing, alerting them
to her presence in the rafters. Just as they were about to shoot at her,
Steve came crashing through the door and started beating them up. Nomad
joined in to help him, but when she saw Steve being shot at, she froze
up, allowing Chris (the student from earlier) to sneak up behind her and
knock her unconscious.
(Captain America V#610/2) - After Steve took out the rest
of the group and called the authorities, Nomad recovered consciousness.
They talked a bit, and Rikki decided that she was going to continue
being Nomad. Later, her and Araña leapt across rooftops a bit,
discussing the events of Nomad's day. Later, at a local bowling alley,
her and Steve also talked and bowled together.
(Captain America V#611/2) - Rikki was sleeping in her
apartment when the Black Widow awoke her. Black Widow enlisted her on a
mission to defeat the Second Shadow, a rich people doomsday cult that
had made a compound that causes people to be able to explode. Nomad and
Black Widow snuck into the Second Shadow's base. Eventually, though,
they were overwhelmed, and Nomad was knocked out and put into an
interrogation room.
(Captain America V#612/2) - During the interrogation,
Rikki was beaten into unconsciousness multiple times. She traded barbs
with her attacker, but mainly she got beaten up a lot. Eventually, the
interrogator took out a gun, and she used her SHIELD training to break
her thumbs and escape the handcuffs. She then grabbed the gun, and shot
it.
(Captain America V#613/2) - Rikki used the gun to weaken
the door enough for her to break through it. She ran over to Black
Widow, who had also managed to escape her bonds, although without
injuring herself. Black Widow admitted that she was impressed that Rikki
had managed to escape, before the two of them broke into the computers.
They were then contacted by SHIELD agent Erica Fowler, who had been
undercover at the Second Shadow for four years. Rikki recognized her, as
in her universe Erica had trained her. As Widow and Fowler entered into
the room where the weapon samples were, Nomad fought a Second Shadow
reinforcement. She took him down, but not before she was infected with
the "makes you explode" bioweapon.
(Captain America V#614/2) - Rikki was rushed into a
freezer, with the plan that if she had her metabolism slowed by being
frozen, it would counteract the bioweapon. Erica Fowler, and then later
Black Widow, watched over Rikki as she froze into unconsciousness. One
of the last things Rikki could recall before falling into
unconsciousness was Black Widow saying that she too was a dancer.
Eventually, Rikki was removed from the freezer to awaken at her "home".
She needed casts for her thumbs, but she was overall alright. She tried
to look for the Second Shadow, even getting Anya to help, but she was
mostly unable to do such things. Black Widow had also taken her costume.
Later, Rikki was sleeping in her abandoned
apartment, when Erica broke in. She brought Rikki a new and improved
Nomad and costume, and also revealed to Rikki that Black Widow had been
behind Rikki being Nomad in the first place. After Erica left, Rikki
felt that maybe things in this new world weren't so bad.
(Young Allies II#1) - Nomad and Araña, who now had a new
costume and without powers, broke up a robbery at a bodega by some
middle schoolers. They then went out across the rooftops, talking about
their personal lives. Anya missed a jump across rooftops, and Nomad
helped her. Rikki comforted her about how she's still doing the right
thing, even without powers. They proceeded to the top of a bridge (I
don't know which one, I don't live in New York; it seems to be whichever
one Gwen died on) where they spotted an explosion over in New York. They
rushed over to help, and ended up engaging with the Bastards of Evil,
alongside some other heroes, including a multiversal equivalent of Toro.
Rikki used her photon shield to help civilians, before Warhead exploded
at the site of 9/11.
(Young Allies II#2) - Later, Nomad and Araña met up with
the new version of Toro, who Nomad kind of weirded out, since she knew
who he was and all. Since both he and Araña could speak Spanish, they
talked, and Toro agreed to work with them to stop the Bastards. Later,
they went to an internet cafe to find out more about the bastards. Araña
found security camera footage showing the location of Ember, one of the
bastard's members, and they rushed over to that location. They attacked
him as he attempted to commit a hate crime, and Toro almost killed him
until Nomad and Araña both held him back.
(Young Allies II#3 (fb)) - Nomad stood back and watched as
Araña berated Toro (in Spanish) for almost killing Ember.
(Young Allies II#3) - Rikki and Anya met up in school
after class. They discussed what further information Anya had managed to
discover, and they made a plan. Anya used her journalist skills to find
out the identity of one of the Bastard's members. Later, they were
contacted by Gravity, one of the other heroes who was there in the
initial battle. However, the communications were hijacked by the
Bastards, and so Nomad and Araña were captured.
(Young Allies II#4) - Nomad and Araña were tied up, and
the Bastards broadcast what was to be their death over the wavelengths.
Araña gave evidence that Aftershock was not actually Electro's daughter,
and while the Bastards were infighting, Nomad and Araña broke free of
their bonds. They started fighting the Bastards, when Gravity, Firestar,
and Toro arrived to help. Rikki knocked out Ember, before Aftershock
knocked out the rest of the heroes, save for Araña, who took out her.
Later, once Nomad recovered, the heroes all talked about their success,
until the Bastard's leader, Superior, arrived and telekinetically threw
Nomad against the wall, back into unconsciousness.
(Young Allies II#5) - After the Superior revealed himself
and killed Singularity, Nomad briefly recovered consciousness long
enough to throw her phone at him, breaking his concentration and freeing
the rest of the heroes. Nomad seemingly fell back into unconsciousness,
as the rest of the heroes fought the rest of the Bastards, who also
recovered. Araña used Rikki's shield to protect her from Ember, and
later Toro administered first aid to Nomad while Firestar took out
Superior. Rikki recovered right before the Avengers showed to contain
the Bastards. Nomad introduced Toro to Cap, who remarked upon the
similarity of this group to the WWII group of Young Allies he had been a
part of. Nomad suggested that they form such a group like she had
previously on her earth, but no one else agreed to that.
(Young Allies II#6 - BTS) - A photo of Rikki, along with
the rest of the heroes, fighting the bastards made the first page of the
Front Line. Rikki also took Toro in to move in and live with her in her
apartment, and e-mailed Firestar about her idea of forming a team.
(Young Allies II#6) - Rikki called Anya to complain about
Toro ignoring her boundaries and refusing to go outside. Later, Nomad
ran into Firestar on a roof, pitched her idea of forming a team once
more, but was very forcibly turned down again. Rikki brought Benny an
English for beginners book for him and a Spanish for beginners for her,
and they studied together. Rikki and Anya talked in school about
Firestar's new decision to do an interview for the newspaper. Rikki,
Anya, Benny, along with the other "Young Allies", attended the memorial
for the people killed in Warhead's attack on Ground Zero.
(Spider-Girl II#2 - BTS) - Rikki got a key to Anya's new
apartment after she moved.
(Spider-Girl II#1) - Rikki and Anya passed each other in
the halls and waved.
(Spider-Girl II#2) - Rikki heard about the death of Anya's
dad, and called her to see if there was anything she could do. Later,
she, along with Anya's new friend Rocky Flint, visited her father's body
in the funerary home.
(Spider-Girl II#2 - BTS) - Rikki let Rocky borrow her copy
of the key to Anya's apartment.
(Spider-Girl II#3) - In a show of support for her friend
Anya, Rikki attended Gilberto Corazon's funeral.
(Avengers Academy I#13) - Nomad, along with the rest of
the "Young Allies" attended Avengers Academy's school dance. Striker hit
on Nomad and grabbed her butt, making her furious.
(Captain America V#615/2 - (fb) BTS) - Growing tired of
always feeling somewhat out of place, Rikki decided to return to this
world's version of Philadelphia, to see if maybe her hometown would give
her some perspective.
(Captain America V#615/2 (fb) ) - Standing outside coffee
shop Jeph & Rob's, Rikki overheard some people getting mugged. She
leapt into action as Nomad, quickly subduing the muggers and
interrogating them, getting a lead to their drug dealers.
(Captain America V#615/2) - Rikki broke into the drug
dealers' hideout, gave them a big speech about how she was gonna kick
their butts, and then did. She then leapt out of the window, and ran out
across the rooftops, finally content with not fully fitting in to this
world.
(Onslaught Unleashed I#1 (fb)) - For three days, Onslaught
tormented Rikki, sending her strange dreams depicting her friend Toro
and many other heroes dead in the Colombian rainforest, and sending her
information about "Project Power".
(Onslaught Unleashed I#1) - After the dreams persisted for
three days, Rikki told Steve about them during a meeting between them in
a coffee shop. He made a feeble effort to get her to give up being Nomad
again, and then told her he'd look into it. Later, Rikki and Benny were
attending a Columbian Pride Festival. As Benny told Rikki about his
tragic past, El Dragon, Benny's "Brother", kidnapped him right in front
of Rikki.
(Spider-Girl II#6) - After a long day of school, Rikki walked
home from school along with Anya and Rocky, when Anya went off to go
talk to the Red Hulk.
(Onslaught Unleashed I#1) - Later that same day, Rikki was
told by Steve that Project Power is real and in Columbia, and he would
be going. But he forbade Rikki from going, which made her really mad. So
once he had left, she contacted Gravity, Firestar, and Anya (now going
by Spider-Girl) to come with her to Columbia. This was accomplished via
having Gravity fly a car down there. As the rest of them entered the
Project Power facility and fought the brainwashed children defending it,
Nomad ran off searching for Benny. Instead, she ended up finding a
central room, where Beast was looking at the energy rift. A glowing hand
came out of the rift, struck Rikki then Beast. The hand was Onslaught,
and he possessed Nomad.
(Onslaught Unleashed I#2) - Onslaught took control of
Rikki's physical form, while conversing with her in the mindscape. (From
here on out, events in italics are the mindscape, non-italicized
events are Onslaught-Controlling-Nomad): Onslaught explained to
Rikki that there was nothing she could do to stop him, since she was
"his puppet". Onslaught taunted Beast, and took control over El
Dragon's child army. Onslaught revealed to Rikki the "truth" of her
existence, causing her to cry. Onslaught took control of Ant-Man,
nailed Beast to the wall, and called Steve and his team to his area.
(Onslaught Unleashed I#3) - Onslaught "revealed" that
Rikki had died in the Negative Zone, and it he had sent her through to
the main universe to serve as his tether. Onslaught taunted the heroes,
before displaying his power by blasting them. Rikki, seeing this,
urged Onslaught to stop hurting her friends, to which Onslaught
replied that she wasn't real and therefore did not have friends.
Onslaught continued controlling Ant-Man to harass Sharon Carter, and had
Firestar and Gravity fight each other. Rikki secretly influenced El
Dragon into draining on the power source Onslaught was drawing from,
so that Onslaught was weakened enough Rikki could fight him herself.
However, this backfired, and the strengthened Dragon was beating up
Toro, which Rikki detected and rushed to help Benny. This distracted her
enough to allow Onslaught to enter the world himself, erasing Rikki.
(Onslaught Unleashed I#4) - After Onslaught was disrupted
by an EMP, Rikki was able to reassert herself temporarily. She explained
that the only way to defeat Onslaught, now that they were tethered, was
to kill her. Completely, Gravity had to fully destroy her so that
virtually every atom was destroyed. As Onslaught began to reassert
himself, Gravity sadly killed Rikki, thereby defeated Onslaught once and
for all. Later, Onslaught taunted Steve with dreams of him and Rikki
fused, killing all the heroes.
(Fear Itself: Youth in Revolt I#1 - BTS) - Gravity
remembered Nomad's death as one of the terrible things that had been
happening to heroes recently.

| (Future Foundation I#3 (fb) - BTS) - [Non-specific
zombie universe] - At some point Rikki traveled to a universe of
zombies. (Future Foundation I#3 (fb)) - Rebecca "Rikki" Barnes (Earth-91155) further information in subprofile |
(Future Foundation I#1 - BTS) - Eventually, Rikki returned
to Reality-616 (see comments), where she was imprisoned on
prison planet L'ar Gath Five. Her energy signal was detected by the
Future Foundation while they were trying to find the Molecule Man.
(Future Foundation I#1) - Rikki, now disillusioned from
dying countless times, was initially doubtful of Julie Power's plan to
rescue her from the space prison. However, after hearing that Julie had
attended Avengers Academy, she asked a few more questions, and decided
that this is indeed the main universe. They began to head towards the
showers to do the prison break, but Rikki had them go to the storage
room to retrieve her stuff. The power was turned off by the Future
Foundation, and Lightspeed flew Rikki to the storage room, past the
guards.
(Future Foundation I#2) - They entered the
Confiscated-Property Room. While Lightspeed was able to instantly change
into her costume due both to it being Unstable Molecules and her being
able to move at superspeed. Rikki, however, took longer to change, so
Julie went off to distract the guards. Eventually, Julie's powers got
turned off and she got surrounded by guards when Rikki came and rescued
her using her photon shield, which was now a more normal Captain America
shield. Rikki escorted Julie out of there, pushing her into the secret
water escape tunnel before following. Julie flew them back to the ship,
where Rikki noticed the Maker, who had killed her in a previous life.
(Future Foundation I#3) - Rikki held the Maker at
laser-gun point. Eventually, an accord was reached between the Future
Foundation and the Maker, so as to be able to survive and get off the
planet. Once the ship was under attack, Rikki rushed Julie to the
automatic infirmary following orders from Alex Power. She hooked Julie
up to the table, and looked away while it did its stuff on Julie.
Eventually, leaving the table to work on its own, Rikki used her
space-guns to help shoot down the attackers. The Future Foundation
rocketed away from the planet.
(Future Foundation I#4) - Rikki held the Maker at gunpoint
briefly, before everything on the ship descended into chaos. The Shi'ar
Warbird that was on the Maker's side held one of the Future Foundation
at knifepoint, and Rikki then used her awesome soldiering skills to
fight her. But Rikki ended up getting pinned down, and was only saved
when Tong the Moloid ran through with a piece of the molecule man. Rikki
found Artie and Leech, and made a plan. Rikki tracked the Maker, trapped
him in an airlock, and beat him up a bunch while Leech neutralized his
powers. But then the Maker blew up the Future Foundation's ship, leaving
them all, including Rikki, stranded in the vacuum of space.
(Future Foundation I#5) - Julie awoke from the healing,
and then flew out and saved Rikki. They kissed. Then, they escaped into
Bentley-23's pocket dimension/evil lair, which they were trapped in,
since the door would just empty out into space. While Alex Power was
making a plan, he found out that Rikki had gained the ability to see
where pieces of the Molecule Man were; and then Leech explained to her
the whole "multiversal constant" backstory she now had. Rikki, with her
giving off the Molecule Man's signal, was able to operate the machine
that allowed them to escape the pocket dimension. They escaped, and
Rikki and Julie got to sit on the beach and kiss.
(Fantastic Four VI#26) - When the Future Foundation
returned to Earth, Rikki met and spoke to Franklin Richards before
heading back home for Philly.
(Power Pack V#3 (fb)) - Rikki and Julie at some point
shared coffee.
(Power Pack V#3) - Rikki videocalled with her girlfriend
Julie while Julie was at home with her family.
(Champions IV#9 - BTS) - Rikki was among the young heroes
who aided the champions in the repealing of the anti-teen vigilante
"Kamala's Law".
(Champions IV#9) - Rikki was seen dancing with Julie at
the party the champions threw for successfully repealing the law.
(Love Unlimited Infinity Comic I#43 (fb) - BTS) - At some point, Rikki and Julie Powers broke up.
Comments: Created by Rob Liefeld and Jeph Loeb.
For reference: In publication time, Rikki was alive on Counter-Earth
from 1996 to 2008, so roughly 12 years; she was then alive in the main
universe from 2008 to 2011, so roughly 3 years; then was dead from 2011
to 2019, roughly 8 years; and finally has been alive ever since. Based
on my understanding of Marvel Time, that's roughly 3 years
Counter-Earth, another year of being alive main earth, and then two
years of being dead. (She's been alive since for roughly 1 ½
years, as of the time of this writing.)
Fun fact: Rikki coming to the main earth predates my birth. Feel old
yet?
Rikki was also one of the heroes seen in the introduction to Girl Comics
II#1.
Strictly speaking both Counter-Earth (Franklin) and the
Counter-Earth (Franklin) Reborn (introduced in Onslaught Reborn) are
in Reality-616, just pocket dimensions thereof initially and then in
the former case regular space but on the opposite side of the Sun;
however, for ease of reference above, whenever 616 is mentioned it is
referring to the main Earth of that reality, the one most Marvel
comics are set on. - Loki
The Earth-616 Young Allies never properly joined into a
group with a name and stuff, but it's simpler to just them that.
Things are actually quite unclear on how everything relating to Rikki
works, but here's the working theory this profile was compiled under:
Anyways, now she's alive, and also has black hair,
presumably due to the same multiverse effects that resulted in the scar
she now has, and her new costume. This is probably not the place for me
to gripe about the Future Foundation story, but essentially, my
complaints boil down to this: She's not Nomad anymore, she's writing
Bucky. And not even the Bucky she was back on Counter-Earth, just a full
fledged post-Brubaker depiction of Bucky. Also, she's somehow heard of
the Spider-Mobile as being something that existed in Earth-616, even
though she literally never met Spider-Man. Maybe one of her various
allies has regaled her about the story as a humorous anecdote - "Hey,
did you know Spidey once owned a Spider Mobile? Dude doesn't even know
how to drive!"
The physical changes might have something to do with the unexplained manner she returned to Reality-616. To explain - Rikki bounced around the multiverse apparently merging with her counterparts on various Earths. But in 616 she had no body to merge into - her 616 counterpart had died while being born, and her original body had been slain by Gravity. So either that corpse got resurrected (not unknown to happen), or she got a new body generated wholesale for her (and if that happened, then any number of physical characteristics might change). It's also worth noting that Rikki mentioned that as she skipped through realities she gradually began to remember more of her past "leaps" and to bring random things along, including weapons, clothing and scars - so if she brought along one physical attribute like scars, she might have also picked up another counterpart's brown hair to replace her original color.
While the Earth-66881 "First Mate Barnes" was never
specifically stated as having been the main Rikki, but due to her in
story role as a counterpart of Earth-86315's Becky Barnes, who is
specifically mentioned, it is safe to assume that she was also at some
point our Rikki. I'd agree that she likely did at some point, but
since CE Rikki doesn't mention her as one of the bodies she inhabited,
she definitely wasn't possessing First Mate Rikki when that version
appeared in Exiles, because CE Rikki was possessing this
Rikki during that time period, as confirmed by CE Rikki
mentioning WWII Rikki's romance with Exiles' Valkyrie. CE Rikki might
well have possessed First Mate Rikki at some later juncture. As such,
her specific placement in the timeline is speculative - it had to be
after being the partner of Peggy Carter, since most possessions seem
to end with the death of the Rikki in question, but beyond that we're
guessing on the relative placement. - Loki
Tiamut the celestial is indirectly an enemy of everyone
living on Counter-Earth (Franklin), and the Griever at the End of All
Things is seemingly destroying the worlds Rikki goes to, so she's listed
as an enemy in all of the alternate universe lists.
As for how Steve was able to remember who Rikki was in Captain America
V#608, when he very specifically wasn't able to back in Thunderbolts
I#52, I presume that he remembered during the time travelling he was
doing during Captain America: Reborn.

(Future Foundation I#3 (fb) - BTS) - Rebecca
Barnes' parents were frontierspeople, until one day they caught
ill in Philadelphia, North Dakota. She was then adopted by
kindly sheriff, and former Union captain, Steve Rogers. He
deputized her, and fought crime alongside her. (Future Foundation I#3 (fb)) - Following Rikki's
sacrifice at the hands of Gravity, she found herself in Deputy
Barnes body in Philadelphia, North Dakota, where she and Steve
went out to go fight western crime. They worked together for a
bit, until Rikki was shot dead by a confederate solider, and the
universe was destroyed by the Griever at the End of All Things.
Comments: Steve Rogers is stated to be a
former Union General (past tense), while Rikki is stated to be
shot down by a Confederate solider (present tense). How did a
Confederate soldier get to North Dakota? This is honestly the
most interesting question to come out of the Future Foundation
series. --Future Foundation I#3

(Future Foundation I#3 (fb)) - When Rikki
inhabited this counterpart, she woke up on the troop carrier
Philadelphia, on its way to storm the beaches of Normandy. As
she was storming the beaches, this universe was also ended by
the Griever at the End of All Things, sending Rikki to the next
universe. Comments: No codename was ever stated for this Rikki, but given her role as sidekick to Steve Rogers Captain America during WWII, "Bucky" is a safe guess. -Future Foundation I#3

|
(Future Foundation I#3 (fb) - BTS) - In the
future, Rikki was the partner of Captain America, Danielle Cage.
(Future Foundation I#3 (fb)) - This Rikki was also
inhabited by the main Rikki, where she found herself in the
middle of a battle, before this world was also destroyed by the
Griever at the End of All Things. Comments: This Rikki
never had any name established, but using "Rikki" seems
simplest. -Future Foundation I#3

(Future Foundation I#3 (fb)) - Rikki awoke
screaming, having been sent to this world following the dozens
of other worlds dying. Her girlfriend Toni Ho came in to comfort
her. They lived a whole week together before the Maker traveled
to this reality and killed both of them. Comments: This Rikki never had a codename
established, and it was in fact unclear if she ever was a hero
of any sort. --Future Foundation I#3
