History:

(Marvel Universe: Onslaught#1 (fb) - BTS) - Crossbones was unconsciously created by Earth-616's Franklin Richards when he warped reality to create a pocket universe to save his parents and all the other heroes, who had sacrificed their lives to defeat Onslaught.

(Captain America II#3) - Red Skull brought in Crossbones to eliminate Captain America, enraging Master Man, who believed it should be him taking out the American hero, but Red Skull persisted it should be Crossbones after Master Man's actions had accidentally woken up Captain America.

At Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia Crossbones defeated Captain America while Falcon watched in awe.

(Captain America II#4 (fb) - BTS) - Wilson got his butt kicked as well and Crossbones then delivered Captain America and Sam "Falcon" Wilson to the World Party's HQ in Philadelphia.

(Captain America II#4) - When Captain America angrily ripped his chains out of the wall Red Skull ordered Crossbones to kill the star-spangled adventurer. Cap knocked out Crossbones after a hard fight, then went after Red Skull, but Master Man came to his rescue.

(Captain America II#6 - BTS) - Crossbones next fougth Bucky (Rikki Barnes). (see comments)

(Heroes Reborn: Rebel#1 (fb) - BTS) - Residing somewhere in the state of Calivada Crossbones was mutated by gamma radiation like half of the population. He became a loyal follower of Master Man, who had come believe himself to be the Judeo-Christian God. Serving God as his head priest Crossbones changed many normal folk into slave-like acolytes of God in the Tabernacle building within the town Quixote, in the Santa-Anna Province.

One day Crossbones and some of God's armed acolytes were hording together civilians when Rebel (Connor O'Reilly) assaulted them. Crossbones took a hit to the face...

(Heroes Reborn: Rebel#1) - Crossbones took the hit and kept fighting Rebel, who hit Crossbones' knee with a blast from his rocket boots. The injury quickly healed up and Crossbones kept beating on Rebel and promised he would be ordained a saint by God (Master Man) if he brought Rebel's head to his master. In response Rebel took out his gun and shot Crossbones to pieces. Crossbones' head rolled in front of Rebel's allies Pepper Potts, Michka Rose and Guinness.

Comments: Created by Jeph Loeb (writer), Rob Liefeld (pencils), Jonathan Sibal & Lary Stucker (inks).

Captain America II#6 (March, 1997) ends with the announcement for Bucky vs Crossbones next issue, but for us it nevere happened because Liefeld and Loeb left the book and James Robinson took over as writer starting with a meeting between Captain America and the US president.
