WILD CHILD'S PACK
Membership: Numerous unnamed wolves (all deceased)
Purpose:Originally, survival, under Wild Child's leadership, to protect Wild Child
Affiliations: Wild Child (Kyle Gibney)
Enemies: Wolverine (James "Logan" Howlett)
Base of Operations: The forests of the Yukon Territory, Canada
First Appearance: Marvel Comics Presents I#53 (1990)
History: (Marvel Comics Presents I#51-52 - BTS) - Wild Child escaped from prison, and, being completely insane, he was unable to control his violent urges.  He proceeded to kill 9 people in Ottawa. (As he said, "Because...I...have...to".). When he attacked Heather Hudson (Guardian of Alpha Flight), he got on Wolverine's bad side and fled.
(Marvel Comics Presents I#53) - Kyle fled all the way to the Yukon, with Logan hot on his heels. Somehow he gained control of a pack of wolves (See comments), and used them to attack Wolverine, who quickly slaughtered them. As Logan attacked Kyle, his last wolf attacked from behind, and was killed. Logan cornered Wild Child, but couldn't bring himself to kill Kyle, as he saw so much of himself in the kid. The battle ended when both feral mutants fell into a raging river, when Wolverine emerged, Kyle was nowhere to be found.
Comments: Created by Rob Lifeld, Fabian Nicienza, Chris Ivy and Joe Rubinstein.
I list them as all deceased, but only a few were shown, maybe some of the wolves weren't there at the time of the battle.
Kyle survived, and was placed back in prison. (Geez, the kid obviously needs mental help and they throw him in jail? Wouldn't a Psychiatric ward make more sense? The mentally ill are often neglected by a society who'd rather lock them away and forget them (See comments under Marked Man for Marvel's treatment of mental illness). Had he gotten mental help, Kyle might be far less dangerous today.) He was later released, joined Alpha Flight, later X-Factor, and is currently in the new Weapon X.
How Kyle gained control of the wolves is unknown, he has never shown any special mental powers. My theory is that he simply came in, and fought his way up through the pack to become the Alpha Male. Wolverine referred to the last attacking wolf as "protecting the father"...what role did Kyle play in their wolven minds? They were willing to die without hesitation to protect him.
Kyle has never been shown controlling animals prior to or after this story.
