History:

(X-Treme X-Men: Savage Land#3 (fb) - BTS) - Brainchild created a new Mutate, Lupa, bestowing powers upon one of the indigenous savages from the Savage Land, just as the other Mutates had been created by Magneto. Lupa was sent by Brainchild to take mental control over the Beast. She found him unconscious and administered the Blood Lotus flower to him, which would sap his will. Then, using her pheromones, she ensured he would be under her command.

(X-Treme X-Men: Savage Land#2) - Lupa was there when the Beast awakened, with her Dire Wolves standing nearby. He was initially frightened, but she calmed him and they quickly allied. Lupa led Beast into the nearby human settlement, where many of the Saurids and some of the other X-Men had been taken. They met Rogue, Thunderbird, Delage, and C'rel there, and Beast enthusiastically proclaimed his desire to help the humans protect themselves from the savage Saurids that warred against them. Lupa and Beast embraced, while Brainchild monitored them from afar.

(X-Treme X-Men: Savage Land#3) - Amphibius, Barbarus, Brainchild, Gaza, Lupa, and Whiteout looked on as Leash tried to bring Rogue under her control, but Rogue's defenses were too strong. Lupa assured Brainchild that Beast was under her thrall, but he chided her, ensuring that she would follow his plans and commands. He promised to hold her accountable if anything went wrong. Lupa rejoined Beast and the others, and they joined the city's occupants in war against their Saurid opponents. Lupa and Leash ran ahead of the others to scout, and stopped him from warning the others about a pending attack. When battle broke out, Lupa sent her Dire Wolves to aid Beast in battle against a tyrannosaur. Rogue and Thunderbird rushed forward to help resolve the battle.

(X-Treme X-Men: Savage Land#4) - The Mutates attacked the X-Men and their allies in the city and swiftly defeated them, then enslaved the Saurids and humans, Leash making many of them surrender themselves to captivity. Brainchild watched as Leash worked to assert control over C'rel, Lupa taunting her for her struggle to do so. When Rogue flew forward, punching Storm, Brainchild hit her with a mental blast that made her feel as if all the minds she'd ever absorbed were attacking her. Lupa ordered Beast against Brainchild, but he punched her instead just before being attacked by Storm. her into Brainchild, knocking him out. Beast then scared away the Dire Wolves with a growl. The Mutates were soon defeated and placed into custody.

(Secret Empire: Underground I#1 (fb, bts)) - Sauron returned to the Savage Land and hypnotized the Savage Land Mutates (Vertigo, Lupa, Gaza, Piper, Whiteout) into following him, and with their help he claimed power. Sauron began imprisoning anyone who offended or opposed him, though he kept the three Mutate women at his side as he liked to look at them. Lupa found a Cosmic Cube fragment and it increased her power, allowing her to control dinosaurs as well; with the help of Whiteout and Vertigo, she overthrew Sauron and took over ruling her people.

SECRET WARS III HAPPENED

(Secret Empire: Underground#1) - The Underground (Ant-Man, Captain America (Sam Wilson), Hercules, Iron Man (Tony Stark A.I.), Mockingbird, Quicksilver)  formed a tentative alliance with Sauron to retrieve the fragment. Gaza and Piper attacked them on the backs of dinosaurs, then were defeated. Mockingbird approached the three women solo and found them reasonable as rulers, but they refused to give up the fragment, so the Underground attacked. Lupa unleashed her wolves against the team, and she fought Hercules himself as Whiteout blinded Quicksilver (before a wolf was thrown against her) and Vertigo impacted Captain America. Vertigo attacked Sauron directly, revealing how she’d found the cloning tanks and had realized she was a clone with memories of her past selves dying, and he badly wounded her again. Ant-Man liberated the fragment from Lupa, but Sauron stole it until Vertigo and Whiteout unleashed massive powers against him and Quicksilver stole the fragment. The Underground left peacefully.

Comments: Created by Chris Claremont, Kevin Sharpe, and Danny Miki.

If Lupa has any connection to another Mutate, Lupo, and his Dire Wolves, none has been revealed. No information has been given on the Dire Wolves except a name.

Leash has a small entry in the Marvel Encylopedia: X-Men along with the other Savage Land Mutates.
