History: (Tales To Astonish I#13/2) - While in Calcutta, Carl Hanson overheard a man talking about a photograph he had found of the Abominable Snowman, which was said to be cursed. Figuring that this would be a great source of money for the sensationalism, Hanson stole the photo from him, and set off for the Himalayas. However, no one there would help him, all pleading with him to lose the photo before the curse overcame him. Finally, he set off into the mountains to find the creature himself. And as he climbed through the snow, his hair grew longer and longer-- until he was the Abominable Snowman himself!

(Uncanny X-Men III#33 (fb) - BTS) - At some point, the Abominable Snowman relocated to Monster Island in the sea of Okhotsk.

At some point the Abominable Snowman encountered the mutant girl Bo, who had been left on Monster Island by her father, and formed a bond with her. He allowed the small girl to sleep in his cave, offering her some safety from the more savage creatures inhabiting the island.

(Uncanny X-Men III#33) - The X-Men Magik and Shadowcat traced Bo's signature to the Snowman's cave, initially believing he was their target until Bo made her presence known. Hearing Magik threaten her father for leaving her on Monster Island Bo screeched, fearing for her father. Bo's distress awoke the Abominable Snowman. Sensing the large growling monster behind her Bo, still unable to control her powers unleashed the powerful ribbons of light energy rendering everybody unconscious.

SECRET WARS III HAPPENED

(Monsters Unleashed II#3 (fb) - BTS) - The Inhuman Kid Kaiju summoned the Abominable Snowman along with numerous other monsters to an area outside San Diego, California in defense against the Leviathons.

(Monsters Unleashed II#3) - In gigantic form the Abominable Snowman joined the fight against the Leviathons. Earth's heroes watched the monsters summoned by Kid Kaiju defeat the Leviathons. After the battle Abominable Snowman and the other monsters were teleported back from where they came.

(Monsters Unleashed II#4) - Abominable Snowman fought alongside Deadpool against a Leviathon. Deadpool commented on his smell.

Comments: Created by Stan Lee (?) and Jack Kirby.

An Abominable Snowman appeared as a member of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Howling Commandos unit in Nick Fury's Howling Commandos#2 and #6. While this Snowman appears to be nothing like the transformed Hanson, a sketch of the creature seen in NFHC#1 (Director's Cut) appears much more similar to Hanson. It's possible this is meant to be Hanson throughout, or there may even be two "Abominable Snowmen" in the program. Until it's clarified, it will remain in the comments.

His first appearance was reprinted during the 70s in Chamber of Darkness#7 (October, 1970) and Tomb of Darkness#19 (March, 1976).

The Abominable Snowman is a giant now? Maybe because Marvel can't use Yetrigar anymore?

Big thanks to MD Carter for allowing me to borrow this image from his website, The Monsters of Jack Kirby.

There is another Abominable Snowman (also called Yetti & in the paper Snowbeast) in Strange Worlds#1 (December, 1958) in the story "I Captured The Abominable Snowman!". The title should have been, "I Changed Places With The Abominable Snowman!", like Salty Gruner/Ape Man did in his story.
