Powers/Abilities: The sentient android that came to be known as Demonseed is partially/mostly composed of self-repairing nanotech. Bulletproof, it can survive in the vacuum of space and other hostile environments. Demonseed can generate a "gray touch" whereby it touches a surfaces and a nanite stream courses quickly to a lifeform and painfully sucks their life essence (leaving barely a skeleton) to sustain and replenish itself. It can apparently even drain the lifeforce of a planet. Demonseed can also generate a nanotech liquid that can swirl around an adult human and integrate the person into its form, thereby partially increasing its mass; Demonseed can move the bodies within its form so the people protrude from its fingers.  The gray touch can also drain power cells and energy from machinery at Demonseed's will. Demonseed can enlarge itself at least tenfold, potentially augmenting its power from the drained lifeforce of sentient beings. It is hateful and genocidal in nature.

History:

(UltraForce II#14 (fb)) - The "Infinity Effect" warped Reality-93060, shunting the hero Hardcase into an isolated pocket limbo dimension from which he could only observe Earth. He constructed a satellite and, lonely, he used his innate nanotech to generate a humanoid companion, integrating artificial intelligence that learned strategy through games and helped with tasks.

(UltraForce II#14 (fb) - BTS) - The Companion began to expand beyond its programming and sought escape beyond its confines. It secretly built an interdimensional time portal in a storeroom.

(UltraForce II#14 (fb)) - One day, for no reason discernible to Hardcase, the Companion savagely attacked him. Their battle destroyed the satellite. The Companion was near defeat, so it chose to escape through the interdimensional portal. Hardcase pursued.

(UltraForce II#14 (fb) - BTS) - Set free in Earth-93060's universe hundreds of years in the past, the Companion quickly became the world-destroying Demonseed and left an interstellar path of devastated civilized worlds, including the Tulkan Empire.

(Ultraverse Unlimited#2 (fb)) - A ragged war fleet from devastated worlds assembled under the leadership of the Tulkan Empire and hunted Demonseed, at times destroying worlds in their relentless quest.

(UltraForce II#14 (fb) - BTS) - The Tulkan war fleet pursued the genocidal android. Hardcase searched the universe for the destructive android until he learned of the Tulkan Empire's relentless pursuit of Demonseed and that their constant bombardment had greatly weakened Demonseed.

(Ultraverse Unlimited#2 (fb)) - Demonseed generated a warp tunnel and fled through it, but sabotaged it so the pursuing Tulkan spacecraft arrived damaged.

(UltraForce II#14 (fb) - BTS) - Demonseed arrived on Earth.

(All-New Exiles#1 (BTS)) - Demonseed devastated New York City, generating incredible destruction and death. The area was dubbed Ground Zero. There was confusion what had caused it and looting was rampant.

(All-New Exiles#1) - A disparate group of super-powered people (Siena Blaze-616, Cayman, Amber Hunt, Juggernaut-616/Cain Marko, Reaper-616/Pantu Hurageb, Shuriken, 'Strike) suddenly teleported in together at Ground Zero and were blamed for the devastation, forcing them to run.

(Ultraverse Unlimited#2) - The Tulkan Empire's war fleet arrived and their Alien Elite dispatched to find Demonseed at Ground Zero. Confusion and braggadocio led to a short battle with the heroic UltraForce team. The Tulkan fleet leader Sh'r D'Rath explained their pursuit and the danger Demonseed presented. The Tulkan fleet left to regroup and repair. Hidden in shadows, Demonseed gloated as it watched the Tulkar depart and the formerly stranded Earth-616 heroes return home, thereby diminishing resistance.

(UltraForce II#13) - Demonseed went into the sewers and mentally compelled rats to form a throne so that it could sit, but then it also drained the creatures of their lifeforces as it plotted its next strike to conquer Earth. Meanwhile, UltraForce returned to their home base and their scans found no trace of Demonseed, but soon Hardcase appeared.

(UltraForce II#14) - Demonseed emerged in the ruins and absorbed three young scavengers' lifeforces using its gray touch. It next attacked US troops the same way. Agent Jake Alexander alerted UltraForce and the team rushed back to Ground Zero where the now-giant Demonseed confronted Hardcase, menacingly calling him "father".

(UltraForce II#15) - Demonseed towered over UltraForce and mocked them. Hardcase warned the team but UltraForce charged in a combined attack that ultimately proved useless. Demonseed unleashed gray liquid that quickly absorbed Ripfire, Topaz, Iron Clad, Hellblade and Prototype. Amber Hunt stayed aloft away from the ground-based gray touch while Ghoul was apparently ignored due to having no lifeforce. In a megalomaniacal show of power against Hardcase, Demonseed exposed a captive UltraForce member in agony from each finger. The alien robot Maxis scanned Demonseed and quickly devised a plan with Hardcase. Both Maxis and Hardcase blasted Demonseed with opposing magnetic fields, disrupting Demonseed's own energy field. Demonseed collapsed down to its original size, freeing the trapped UltraForce members. Demonseed quickly recovered and set up a powerful force field that eventually broke under UltraForce's combined onslaught. Meanwhile, Hardcase downloaded nanotech into Maxis' systems and the robot generated a portal matching the one Demonseed had initially used to escape limbo. Hardcase grabbed Demonseed and pushed him toward the portal; Prime's heroic help gave the extra push. Once through the portal, which Maxis had since closed, Hardcase and Demonseed continued their savage fighting, evenly matched, falling in darkness, locked in rage and hate.

Demonseed was initially spelled Demon Seed (two words) before writers settled on the one-word version.

This profile was completed 02/21/2026, but its publication was delayed as it was intended for the Appendix 25th anniversary 's celebratory event to represent Ripfire.
