History:

(Marvel Mangaverse: New Dawn (fb) - BTS) - Janet van Dyne spearheaded Project: WASP at Stark Island (WASP was short for Winged Amplification Surge Plasma). Janet was Tony Stark's favorite employee, but after he had disappeared after the Blackout Wars and his sister Toni Stark took over things quickly changed. Despite Toni cutting back her funding, Janet still managed to design a suit and nanonites-based plasma, albeit still in test phase.

(Marvel Mangaverse: New Dawn) - Finally getting her experimental plasma wings to work, Janet decided to take them on a test flight. Because she wasn't quite used to the controls, she crashed into Bruce Banner who was on his way to see Stark. Knocking the doctor unconscious, she grabbed him and yelled he had to wake up. Taking this as a sign of affection, Banner tried to kiss Janet who quickly hit him in his face, stating she wasn't that kind of girl. She then went on to explain how she had some difficulties controlling the nanonites in her wings, feeling that if this would be fixed her project would finally be finished. She and Banner then witnessed the supersonic arrival of Iron Girl, coming in over their heads. Convinced Toni deliberately clipped her, Janet gave "Iron Bitch" the finger. Not a minute later a chopper arrived with King T'Challa and Hank Pym the Antman who had come to Stark Island to hear Stark's news (Banner was building the new energy well). Recognizing Banner, Pym made his way to him to introduce himself. Janet was surprised to see the Antman was a lot shorter in real life as she was familiar with his music (Antman was a celebrated artist and scientist). Watching the two get acquainted, Iron Girl couldn't help but think the fact she was a Van Dyne was the only reason Janet hadn't been fired yet. She also doubted if she shouldn't cancel Project: WASP in order to incorporate it into a new combat mecha devision.

That very night Janet was rudely awakened by Stark Island's defense system, reacting to Banner's energy well overloading (due to Baron Mordo and Hydra's involvement). Accompanied by T'Challa and Pym, they tried to stop the well's energy from seeping out and witnessed how something (the elder god Dormmamu) was pushing through from the other side. At the same time, Stark Island was attacked by Prince Namor's Atlantean forces and Baron Strucker's Hydra.

(Marvel Mangaverse: Eternity Twilight) - Still fighting to keep the energy well from overloading Janet, Pym and T'Challa slowly began to recognize the well for what it truly was: a conduit to the Ethereal Realm of gods and monsters. Pym made his way to deal with the Atlantean forces while Janet used her bio-blasts in an effort to close the energy well, though she only seemed to be slowing the inevitable. Just then, Namor's Atlantean forces broke through the outerwalls of the facility, with debris hitting and knocking out Janet. Now in control of the well, the arriving Baron Strucker summoned his master Dormammu. The elder god finally broke through the barrier and entered this realm. Dormammu began to destroy Stark Island, forcing Janet and the remaining heroes to escape. They were met by the Fantastic Four and teamed up to fight Dormammu's loyal servant the Hulk. The combined heroic forces of the Fantastic Four, the X-Men and the Stark Island residents battled the Hulk although they didn't seem to hurt the 245 feet tall monster one bit. It wasn't until Dr. Strange realized he could use Banner's body as a conduit to summon Thor that the tides turned in favor of the heroes. The Mighty Thor channeled all the energy the heroes possessed to defeat the Hulk and Dormammu after which the gods and monster returned to the Ethereal Realm. Janet and the other heroes witnessed how after their deaths, the souls of Banner and Toni departed the Earthly realm.

Due to the Asian specific nature of the Mangaverse reality, it goes without saying that while characters might look similar to their 616 counterparts, they most likely will have distinctly different names, codenames or powers. Therefore we will only list the names when they have been used in the comics.

The Wasp and Antman were also featured on the cover of Marvel Mangaverse#6, but didn't appear in that issue.

Apparently, the Wasp also had her own line of action figures, one was seen next to Tigra's computer.
