Powers/Abilities: Kvasir is prescient, precognitive, and clairvoyant. Given local interaction, he seems to know all and see all, past, present, and future.

    Meeting someone, he knows their past history, and he seems to be able to predict future events for that person.

    Given an immediate situation, his predictions seem to be consistently accurate.

    Certain events and magical beings could block/limit his knowledge, as could great distance from a subject.
    Even from great distance, he can sense vague threats.

    Even his blood had power; it was used to form the Mead of Poetry.

    While working as the Oracle of Perdita, he was limited to only answering the question that was asked of him.
    Despite his imprisonment, he wished to help the people of the world on which he was imprisoned.

    Like other Asgardian gods, Kvasir is presumably virtual immortals who age at an extraordinarily slow rate upon reaching adulthood (although not true immortals).

    To maintain their vitality, most Asgardians must regularly consume the Golden Apples of immortality, harvested by the goddess Idunn. It is unrevealed whether Kvasir was provided a supply of these apples after his capture, or whether the Perditans found some way to bypass this limitation, although it is really not a consistent thing with Asgardians...more of a plot device, when remembered.

    Most Asgardians are resistant to conventional diseases and injury, and have superhuman healing, endurance and reflexes. Only dispersal of a major portion of an Asgardian’s bodily molecules will cause death, and even then resurrection via other gods may be possible.

    Asgardian flesh and bone are three times more durable (and, according to some sources, denser) than human tissue, and average gods and goddesses can lift about 30 and 25 tons, respectively. Kvasir seemed to have minimal inclination to physical force, and his level of strength is likely below average.

(The Mighty Valkyries#4 (fb) - BTS) - The dwarves Fjalar and Galar drained Kvasir's blood and left him for dead. Kvasir decided to use the opportunity to let everyone think he had been killed.

    The Valkyries, however, appreciated Kvasir's survival.

    From Kvasir's blood, the Mead of Poetry was brewed.

(The Mighty Valkyries#1 (fb) - BTS / The Mighty Valkyries#2 (fb) - BTS / The Mighty Valkyries#3 (fb) - BTS) - At some point "long/many/centuries ago," Kvasir was captured and brought to the planet Perdita, where he was forced to advise the kings of Perdita, who were more concerned with weapons and riches than truth.

    Kvasir further considered that they asked the wrong questions.

(The Mighty Valkyries#3 (fb) - BTS) - The people who captured Kvasir made up the legend of his origin, which essentially became truth as the only known history once the captors died.

(The Mighty Valkyries#3 (fb) - BTS) <A century before the main story> - The last king of Perdita came to the Oracle: With his kingdom at war with its neighbors and the country surrounded, he had a bomb, built by his people, which he felt would be merciful, in that when his enemies saw how destructive it was after one use, they would lay down their weapons and have peace at last.

    When the King asked who he should destroy, the Oracle answered -- like he had many times before -- "That is the wrong question. The only question worth asking is, 'Why was such a thing made in the first place?'"

    The king disregarded the insisted that the bomb would bring victory.

(The Mighty Valkyries#1 (fb) - BTS) - The Valkyries made a vow to recover the oracle Kvasir who had been imprisoned somewhere (it's not 100% clear, but I don't think that they knew it was on the planet Perdita). This was Alta's last wish.

(The Mighty Valkyries#1 (fb) - BTS) - At some point, Kvasir became known specifically as the Oracle, and he was contained within some sort of protective glass-like sphere that also protected him from outside harm and kept the "incorporeal noise" to a minimum.

    The Oracle eventually became the basis for Oracle Adventures, a business that allowed those who paid for it or otherwise won the opportunity to ask the Oracle a single question. Kvasir felt that most asked the wrong questions.kvasir-oracle-containmentformface

(The Mighty Valkyries#2 (fb) - BTS) - Imprisoned within the Temple of the Oracle, Kvasir only saw the outside world in his mind's eye via those who queried him.

(The Mighty Valkyries#1 (fb) - BTS) - Amongst the six most shocking revelation on "Find Your Truth" was a woman who thought that the man on her side was her brother, although the Oracle knew better.

(The Mighty Valkyries#1 (fb) - BTS) - After being released from extended imprisonment in the head of a Celestial, Runa -- to fulfill her promise made to Alta (and the Valkyries) -- stole a spaceship traveled to Perdita, landing in "Parkinspace."

(The Mighty Valkyries#1- BTS) - Arriving at Oracle Adventures, Runa paid for the VIP package, hoping that of all the soothsayers, etc., that this was the one she sought (Kvasir).

(The Mighty Valkyries#1) - An unidentified green-skinned woman asked the Oracle if she should take the job she had been offered. Kvasir considered that he could tell her that the baby she had given away long ago had grown up into a thriving young man and had forgiven her; or he could tell her that the last words on her father's lips, whispered too faintly for her to hear, were the apology she had always wanted.

     However, as he could only offer the answer to the question asked, he told her that the job would bring the fortune she sought.

    The winner of the "Find Your Truth" giveaway then told the Oracle that his home had been destroyed and his work was gone, and he asked -- as he could only afford to send one -- which of his children would fare better if he sent him or her away from this wretched planet. Considering that the son would flourish, but that he would never look back, and when he was asked where he was from, he would lie; and that the daughter, Tallis, would work hard and send money back to her family, whom she would miss every day; the Oracle advised him to send Tallis.

    However, the Oracle knew that the man would send his son in the end, no matter the advice...and he knew that the man knew this, as well.kvasir-oracle-containmentform-rise

    Juna led Runa to the Oracle . Runa asked the Oracle what was her name and why she was there. Asking more than one question alerted the guards, but the Oracle confirmed that she was there because of a promise made to the woman she loved, a woman that he had raised; that he was indeed Kvasir, the one she sought; and that her name was Runa.

    As the guards ordered her to stand down, she asked if her axe, Jarnbjorn, would break the magic dome imprisoning him. Kvasir answered, "yes," and she then summoned Jarnbjorn and leapt toward the dome, asking, "Are you ready for this, old man?"

kvasir-oracle-illusionshattered(The Mighty Valkyries#2) - As the dome shattered, the disguise that had hidden and shielded Kvasir faded. Virtually blinded by this sudden release, Kvasir was initially limited and vague in guiding his and Runa's escape. He noted an "egress in disguise" behind them, which Runa -- while blocking an energy blast -- correctly interpreted as a door, and she carried him through it.

    As he warned her to beware the "fox...in snow," she, annoyed, asked him to tone down the obscurity. She then requested a path that did not lead to imminent death, and when Kvasir noted that there was death on every path, she clarified that she meant one where she and he survived but that their opponents did not.

    After Runa recognized and took out the foxy woman wearing white from his previous reference, Kvasir advised her to go left. After Runa noted her appreciation for clear instructions, Kvasir continued with specific guidance, leading her to kick open a door to exit the building. Kvasir finally directly observed the sights, smells, and tastes of the world he had served.

    Kvasir then directed Runa toward some stairs to escape the "foxy lady," after which he advised her that a man named Ologen was behind a door and would kill her unless she...appreciating his meaning, Runa cut him off and kicked through the door and into Ologen, knocking him into waterway.

    As they reached Runa's ship, she noted that he had been wrong as no one had died, but Kvasir explained that Ologen would be dead from the irradiated waters in hours.

     As they lifted off, they were confronted by at least a pair of Perdita/Oracle security ships.

(The Mighty Valkyries#3) - As Dreamfresh/Oracle Adventures continue to announce greater rewards for recovering the Oracle, Kvasir instructed her to go straight up. When she asked if his third eye was interfering with his other two, as there was a Skalarian bounty frigate above them, Kvasir explained that there had been a reactor explosion in sector four and that if they maintained their current trajectory, they would hit the fallout and be reduced to a bubbling mess of flew and hair in seconds. Acknowledging this, Runa advised him to "Hold onto your toga. This will get gnarly."

    As they evaded and/or destroyed various pursuing ships, Runa asked Kvasir where they should go, and he told her ne needed to go to Vanaheim. When Rjna argued that that is the first place they would look, Kvasir countered that he was known as the Oracle of Perdita and that the modern people knew nothing of his true origins.

    Kvasir further told her that while he could not see clearly from Perdita, he knew that something was threatening the realms (the 10 realms associated with Asgard).

    In Vanaheim, Kvasir walked across what appeared to be empty space between two rocky landmasses, noting that the bridge was stone but that magic lied in its disguise. After they had crossed, Kvasir noted that the man who had built that bridge had never left Vanaheim or even his own village: He had thought that the stars were his ancestors and that the sun was a gemstone hanging from the necklace of a goddess; he knew when the fish would bite by feeling the leaves on the trees; and when it would rain by smelling the wind. Kvasir then noted that though he himself was considered "wisest of all," he could teach the bridge builder absolutely nothing.kvasir-oracle-seated

    Taking in the atmosphere of his native land, Kvasir stated that while he was born to spread knowledge, to teach, and to advise, the realms no longer lacked knowledge. They lived in an age where knowledge was everywhere, but truth was rejected, and wisdom is questioned. As truth was all he had to offer, he no longer knew his place in the world, so he would think and rest for now.

    Although Runa wished to stay in Vanaheim with him and avoid the cosmic drama, Kvasir sympathized with the burden of seeing the universe as it was: Chaos. However, he warned her of ancient forces and powers at work that even he did not understand. He told her that the Waters of Urdarbrunnr were flowing into the Cradle of Life and that the Great Cow  was grazing once more (see comments). When he told her that something was stirring in the bowels of Nastrond and that the Managarmr have been let out of Hel and had sought out Jane Foster, Runa departed to aid Jane, noting that she was one of the good ones. Kvasir quietly replied that Jane was then good company for Runa.

(The Mighty Valkyries#4) - While building the roof of his own home, Kvasir saw what was coming but appreciated that he could do nothing to stop it.

(The Mighty Valkyries#4 - BTS) - After confirming Jane was safe, Runa traveled to Asgard, met with Thor, advised him of Kvasir's concerns, and told him that she needed to find the Cradle of Life. Thor allowed Runa to visit the Library of Asgard, where -- too late -- she appreciated the significance of Kvasir's words.

(The Mighty Valkyries#4) - As the ground broke open in Hel as Fafnir prepared to confront Hela, Kvasir heard the chant from below and understood all. kvasir-oracle-cabin

(The Mighty Valkyries#5) - As the shadows of lives yet lived vanished before him, Kvasir understood that the lives of the child gods and the future of Hel were tied to the lives of others.

(The Mighty Valkyries#5 - BTS) - Managarmr/More devoured Fafnir and Nastrond, after which they vomited up Hela, Karnilla, and Loki.

(The Mighty Valkyries#5 - BTS) - Runa left the triplets in the care of Mr. Horse, who brought them to their mother back on Earth.

    Managarmr is the combined form of the Wolf Gods Skoll and Hati...he also adopted the name "More" in the Mighty Valkyries story arc.

    For this and Runa's profiles, I have focused on that side of the story, and so I will have to go back and re-read the other half of the stories, but I believe that Karnilla was trying to create new gods in Hel and that she freed Managarmr in exchange for the waters of Urdarbrunnr. Karnilla subsequently stole a set of triplets from their mother's womb, brought them to her side in Hel (in what would become known as the Cradle of Life), fed them the milk of Audumbla and used the Waters of Urdarbrunnr to transform the young girls into goddesses...but the waters also revived the corpse of the dragon Fafnir of Nastrond, who unleashed his undead army in an attempt to usurp Hela’s reign in Hel.

    Continuity gets a little bat-shit crazy due to the less-than-ideal 1,000,000 BC history of Odin from Jason Aaron's Avengers stories. I don't even know what to do with that.
    Past stories have pretty consistently indicated the cycle of Ragnarok repeated every 2000 years or so.
    Runa was one of Bor's Valkyries, and Bor preceded Odin, and she considered Kvasir an old man...
    What does that all mean? Who knows...

    According to the Mighty Valkyries, there were less than three (which would mean two or one) weapons in the universe capable of breaking the magic surrounding/imprisoning the Oracle. That seems doubtful, but it doesn't matter, because one of those known weapons was Jarnbjorn.

Kvasir was created when the two warring factions of Asgard and Vanaheim decided to call a truce. The two groups of gods called the Æsir and the Vanir conducted a peacemaking ritual by all spitting into a cauldron. Kvasir was born of this saliva and sent to Asgard with the Vanir ruler, Njörd, and his son, Freyr, in return for another wise man, Mímir, and Hoenir going to Vanaheim.
