History:

(Cloak & Dagger III#19 (fb) - BTS) - Anna was born as Tyrone's twin sister. (see comments)

(Cloak & Dagger III#17 (fb) - BTS) - Anna became homeless at some point. She joined Erich Hennig's cult in New York City to get a few free meals. She was eventually brought to Schamballah to become a human sacrifice to summon the Vril to Earth.

(Cloak & Dagger III#17) - Thule raised Anna Johnson, bound to manacles, in front of the Eye of Force and was going to sacrifice her as the last "inferior" life force needed to turn the Schwarzraum into a connection between Earth and the Vril's home dimension--Hell. Spider-Man and Dagger fought for her life against Thule's troops while Anna told Thule he should get to know his victims a bit better.

(Cloak & Dagger III#17 - BTS) - While the heroes fought Thule's troops Thule took Anna to another room, an exact duplicate of the Eye of Force chamber and bound her to manacles once again.

(Cloak & Dagger III#17) - Cloak and Dagger teleported into Thule's second Eye of Force chamber and saw Anna bound to manacles again. A spear activated by Thule passed through Cloak, who teleported the spear so it hit the manacles, freeing Anna. Dagger noticed how Anna looked at Cloak. Cloak assaulted Thule, who ordered Berglund to kill Cloak and Dagger, but save Anna for the Vril as sacrifice. Dagger blinded Berglund and fled with Anna. Berglund accidentally became the last human sacrifice to open the Eye of Force for the Vril, who swarmed through the portal to Schamballah. Cloak protected Dagger and Anna from the invaders, who were stripped of their weapons by him. During the battle between the Vril and the heroic Cloak, Dagger and Spider-Man, Anna took her chance to got after Thule, who she tackled and attempted to stab with a piece of metal. Thule hit the metal piece out of Anna's hand before being kicked in the groin by her. The ground in Schamballah suddenly collapsed, becoming a portal to Hell, and everyone present, including Anna dropped into Mephisto's hand.

(Cloak & Dagger III#18) - Anna and the heroes were dropped by Mephisto when Ghost Rider arrived on the scene. Spider-Man saved Anna from the deadly fall, but they got caught in rocks controlled by Mephisto and then assaulted by the Vril. Cloak's attempt to teleport himself and his friends out of Mephisto's domain failed because Mephisto had full control over all dimensional gateaways in his realm, forcing the heroes to continue their fight with the Vril, who kept going after Anna as well. Ghost Rider put Anna on his bike, which took her out of harms and back to Schamballah on Earth. Anna was found by Erich, who knew he should abandon her, but couldn't bring himself to do it. He watched Ghost Rider's bike return to Hell while he held Anna's shivering body in his arms.

(Cloak & Dagger III#18 - BTS) - Erich took care of Anna until she could back on her feet by herself.

(Cloak & Dagger III#18) - When Ghost Rider returned to Earth with Spider-Man they ran into Erich and Anna, who told them that Erich had been nursing her.

(Cloak & Dagger III#19) - Anna secretly watched Cloak and Dagger take down a Darklight (a drug created by D'Spayre) factory. She overheard Cloak telling Dagger that she was the only family left to him. Anna didn't approach him to tell him that she was his long-lost twin sister because she was sure that it would be better for Cloak if she stayed out of his life.

(Web of Spider-Man I#77 (fb) - BTS) - Anna moved into the homeless shelter in the renovated Poseidon Hotel.

(Web of Spider-Man I#77 - BTS) - Cloak and Dagger were searching for Anna and learned from their street sources that she had moved into the Poseidon Hotel homeless shelter.

(Web of Spider-Man I#77 (fb) - BTS) - Anna was among the Poseidon Hotel residents allowed to work at the Daily Bugle and Mr. Munson's fundraiser for the homeless shelter.

(Web of Spider-Man I#77) - Anna worked as a waitress at the fundraiser. After serving the guests she returned to her room in the sub-basement. The Morlock Ent ran by her room when she changed clothes and Anna followed him to the sub-basement.

(Web of Spider-Man I#77 (fb) - BTS) - In the sub-basement Anna encountred the Morlocks Ent, Mother Inferior, Pester and Pester's baby. Pester told Anna that they had lived in the Poseidon Hotel before it was renovated and turned into a homeless shelter by Mr. Munson. Since renovation they had moved to the sub-basement and they were now trying to get their old home back by scaring the people away at the fundraiser.

(Web of Spider-Man I#77) - Anna held Pester's baby and just as Spider-Man found the Morlocks and Anna was going to give the baby back to Pester, but Spider-Man misinterpreted the situation and attempted to save Anna and the baby. Ent assaulted him until Anna gave Pester back her baby. Ent calmed down and Spider-Man realized his mistake.

Anna told Spider-Man the Morlocks' story and how they attempted to reclaim their home. When Firebrand (Broxtel) wrecked havoc upstairs part of the sub-basement collapsed. Spider-Man created a web-shield for the Morlocks, but couldn't save himself and Anna from being buried beneath the collapsing ceiling.

(Web of Spider-Man I#77 - BTS) - Cloak and Dagger finally arrived at the hotel and saw the building burning. Cloak was afraid that Anna was still inside.

(Web of Spider-Man I#78 - BTS) - Cloak told Dagger that they had to find Anna.

(Web of Spider-Man I#78) - Spider-Man, aided by Ent, raised the fallen ceiling and Anna slowly regained consciousness. Mother Inferior ordered her rats to push her family, Anna and Spider-Man out of the room before everything collapsed inside, burying Mother Inferior alive. Anna pointed towards the rats fleeing through a blocked corridor, which seemed to be the only way out.

(Web of Spider-Man I#78 - BTS) - Outside the building Cloak asked Dagger to look for Anna among the victims because they couldn't safely teleport into the building to find her, but shortly after they were forced to stop their search when Firebrand attacked.

(Web of Spider-Man I#78) - Spider-Man, Ent and Pester removed the debris from the blocked corridor while Anna held Pester's baby. The debris collapsed and the room was slowly flooded. Anna still held Pester's baby, but she and the Morlocks began to panic. Spider-Man ordered Ent and Pester to create another hole in the wall of debris while he broke more pipes to flood the room quicker and let the water pressure break the wall beneath. Spider-Man's plan worked and the water carried Anna, the Morlocks and Spidey himself (all on a web-surfboard) to safety. One webline later Anna, Spider-Man and the Morlocks crawled back upstairs through the destroyed floor of the Poseidon Hotel. Spider-Man and Ent broke open the door to save the trapped Daily Bugle staff. Anna disappeared during the escape from the building.

Days later at the Calvary Cemetery Cloak and Dagger wer still searching for Anna, but she was not there. Cloak gave up because Anna obviously didn't want to be found, but he didn't want to quit searching for her. A short time later, when her brother and Dagger were gone, Anna visited Mr. Munson's grave and thought about his demise and that she learned from it that not every problem could be solved.

Comments: Created by Terry Kavanagh (writer), David Ross (pencils), Keith Williams & Chris Ivy (inks).

It is not clear when Anna left her family or if she was left behind by her mother. Maybe Anna was left behind in hospital by her mother or given up for adoption. Maybe she just ran away like Tyrone, but earlier and was believed dead. We will probably never know.

Unlike Dagger's family Cloak's never played a big role in Cloak & Dagger's own titles, which was weird. Anna was an attempt to change this, but with their second ongoing title's cancellation she was pretty much forgotten again. Only her creator Kavanagh ever used her and that was it.
