History:

(Punisher Summer Special#3/1 (fb) - BTS) - The son of a policeman, Earl Dreller sought to follow in his father's footsteps, but was rejected by the police, the F.B.I., the C.I.A. and the Marines, despite over a hundred applications (!). So he became a real estate agent and hooked up with several police officers (yet maintained no other connection with them), forming a group called the Psycho-Cops that committed various violent acts, such as random stabbings and shootings just for the thrill of the kill. They took to slaying paintball teams at different locations, using Boff Johnson to modify weapons that fired ball bearings and incendiaries instead of paintballs.

(Punisher Summer Special#3/1) - Their most recent killing of five paintballers reported in the Daily Bugle newspaper caught the attention of the Punisher, who tracked down Dreller through the arms dealer. Meanwhile, the Psycho-Cops had already arrived at the next paintball arena up against Ripper and his team called the Bodybaggers. The Psycho-Cops killed the two game marshals before hunting down and shooting their opponents. The Punisher arrived and saved Ripper from being killed, getting his help to pin down the Psycho-Cops as he took them down one by one until cornering Dreller, who had since switched to a riot gun. The Psycho-Cops' leader was soon killed by the Punisher using one of the modified paintball guns.

CLARIFICATIONS:
The Psycho-Cops have no known connections to:

Boff Johnson

Boff Johnson

Boff Johnson was an illegal arms dealer once used by the Punisher in his early days. Thinking it all a game, he modified weapons to make them more destructive, such as making the Psycho-Cops' paintball guns fire more lethal pellets instead of paintballs. The Punisher tracked him down for leads on the paintball killers, but Boff tried to kill him instead. The Punisher killed him with a crossbow bolt and went through his records, finding the next lead to Earl Dreller.

Ripper with the Bodybaggers

Ripper

Ripper was the leader of the paintball team called the Bodybaggers, comprised of some of New York's toughest bouncers. A bodybuilder, he was called Ripper because he bought clothes that were too small so his muscles would rip out. He was an experienced paintballer and also knew how to handle guns. Ripper was saved from the Psycho-Cops by the Punisher and helped take down Dreller.
