Powers/Abilities: Pug-Smasher is an excellent
combatant, but this is limited to those about his size. He deftly uses a
spiked mace as a weapon. Pug-Smasher is anti-nationalist, egalitarian
and embraces communist ideology, rejecting imperialism and class
elitism; however, he still operates comfortably in the world he
ideologically rejects.

History:
(Shatterstar I#1 (fb) - BTS) - Pug-Smasher was an
anti-nationalist terrorist on Earth-8311, but was cast out amid a battle
with Thanhorse and landed on Earth-616. He became a tenant at the
halfway house Manor Crossing owned by Shatterstar offered as rental
sanctuary for extradimensional outcasts, joining Tina Cooke (allegedly
of Earth-1218), Crimzor and Goldon, the End Woman (Earth-18140), and
Night Thrasher (Earth-90214). While accepting residence, Pug-Smasher was
belligerent about having to pay for it and left his waste on the
sidewalk. Otherwise, Pug-Smasher integrated well on Earth-616, appearing
as a pet dog and generally wore no costume.
(Shatterstar I#1) - Pug-Smasher was romantically interested in the local popular schnauzer Mitzi Moscowitz and watched her run by with her owner. But landlord Shatterstar was unhappy having to clean up Pug-Smasher's waste and embarrassed the pug.
(Shatterstar I#1) - At night, Pug-Smasher was about to
sneak out in costume to roam the streets when the mercenary Death
Sponsors (Cancellator, Deadair, Lead-In, Sweepzweak, Timeslot) attacked
while Shatterstar was absent. Deadair carried Pug-Smasher while the
others mercs took Crimzor, Goldon, the End Woman and Cooke, leaving
Night Thrasher to die after he killed the portal generator Timeslot.
Shatterstar's former gladiator partner and lover Gringrave briefly
appeared on security footage as bait to lure Shatterstar back to his
former role as gladiator entertainment.
(Shatterstar I#2) - Gringrave and the Death Sponsors took
the bound Manor House hostages (with Pug-Smasher still unconscious) to
long-distance teleporter Dockmaster and the Longshoremen. With the aid
of Rictor, Shatterstar found them, but was too late to stop the
Gringrave and Death Sponsors carrying over the hostages, although
Pug-Smasher revived and resisted. Delayed by the Longshoremen,
Shatterstar was still able to follow the others through the portal,
thinking it led to Mojoworld, but found himself unexpectedly on Horus
IV, a planet controlled by the Elder Grandmaster.
(Shatterstar I#3) - In an intense media environment, most of the bound Manor House hostages were led to the gladiatorial amphitheater and caged; Deadair took Pug-Smasher as a prize that he tried to sell as meat in the Vice District to food connoisseur Bess, but Shatterstar stopped the knife. Deadair fled with Pug-Smasher, who ranted his ideology in panic. Shatterstar caught up with them and killed Deadair.
(Shatterstar I#4 (fb) - BTS) - Shatterstar cut off
Deadair's head and mounted it on a stick for Pug-Smasher to parade.
(Shatterstar I#4) - Shatterstar and Pug-Smasher entered
the grand arena, where Cooke had just been slain by gladiator Xeus.
Shatterstar and Xeus shared gladiators' understanding of an arena's
rules. Shatterstar ordered Xeus to take Pug-Smasher out of the arena and
keep him safe; Xeus assented and put the little lad in the prison cell
with the End Woman, Crimzor and Goldon. Outside, Shatterstar eliminated
the remaining Death Sponsors and Gringrave, and advanced to free the
surviving Manor House hostages. But keen for entertainment, Grandmaster
stopped him.
(Shatterstar I#5) - The Manor House hostages wanted to
help Shatterstar, who was fighting Grandmaster-generated duplicates, but
were locked out by Xeus. The Manor House group feigned internal division
and brawling to have Xeus intervene, and they all overpowered him. They
took weapons, Pug-Smasher gaining his signature mace, and advanced
toward the arena, knocking out Spineless One beings on the way. But the
all-powerful Grandmaster demanded Shatterstar's subservience and wiped
out the Manor House tenants. To save them, Shatterstar feigned servility
and Grandmaster restored the tenants to existence before sending them
back to Manor House on Earth-616. But Shatterstar trapped Grandmaster,
although it left him grievously wounded. Rictor brought Shatterstar back
through a dimensional portal to Manor House. Later, Pug-Smasher and
Goldon farewelled Cooke and Night Thrasher at their graves. Three weeks
later, the group enjoyed a block party barbecue, where the naked
Pug-Smasher demanded fried kibble before attempting to flirt with Mitzi.

Pug-Smasher is the Earth-8311 counterpart to Flag-Smasher (Karl Morgenthau) of Earth-616.
I don't mean to over-analyze this, but little Puggy is
going full native Earth-616 doggy here. He's basically nudist and eats
kibble dogfood.
Earth-1218
is supposed to be the real world that the readers live in. Writers
love to use characters from Earth-1218, but since we don't have any
super-powers or interdimensional portals, etc., as soon as some
interaction with an alternate reality or super-powered characters
occurs, it becomes just another previously "normal" reality that has
since diverged.
So,
despite the fact that it is repeatedly called Earth-1218, I contend
that it is a reality diverged from -1218; I may address this in the
future, but since it is called -1218 repeatedly in the story, I'm
not going to provide another reality designation at this point.

Pug-Smasher has no known connections to:
Bess was a food connoisseur in the Vice District known as
Sah'Damn on Horus IV who delighted in extremely rare meat for himself
and clients, especially meat from other dimensions. The mercenary
Deadair hoped to sell the kidnapped Pug-Smasher to Bess, but Bess
thought the price high and hoped to sample Pug-Smasher's flesh. Before
the knife could cut, Shatterstar intervened, electrifying Bess with a
bioelectric shock before tackling Deadair.
Bess may have had two bodyguards (with
matching suits), but they proved useless and disappeared when
Shatterstar arrived.

Mitzi was considered by the local dog community to be the
most eligible schnauzer in Queens, New York. Romantically interested,
Pug-Smasher (exiled from Earth-8311 but now renting from Shatterstar)
liked watching her run past his new home. However, Shatterstar was
unhappy having to clean up Pug-Smasher's waste and embarrassed him in
front of her. Later, Pug-Smasher tried befriending Mitzi at a barbecue
at Shatterstar's apartment building.
