Powers: The Smasher was very strong, although not superhumanly so, and he was an experienced streetfighter. He was not particularly intelligent and was quick to anger.

History: (Daredevil I#74) - One of the Committee developed a chemical which caused blindness, and Smasher got the idea (perhaps his first one) to use it for profit. They dumped the chemical into Manhattan's water supply and soon everyone was going blind. While the city was in a state of panic, they began robbing everyone blind (you know what I mean!). Daredevil, who was unaffected by the chemical, managed to locate the Committee and confronted them while they were robbing a jewel store. However, he underestimated the strength of the Smasher, who knocked him out. Daredevil was found by four other people who had already been blind. The four joined Daredevil in relocating the Committee. Working together, Daredevil and his four new allies took out the Committee. Daredevil did better against the Smasher this time, succeeding in knocking him down. When he got back, up started mouthing off on how Daredevil would pay. As a result, Cindy located him by the sound of his voice and dropped him with a slingshot.

Unnamed Committee guy: "Jeez that was beautiful thinkin' of yours, George--Ain't nobody can fix chemicals like you can! How much I get, Smasher?"
Smasher: "As chairman of this here Committee--I nominate myself as trasurer--an' I get to keep all the dough in escrow, see?"
Committee guy: "Huh? What's escrow?"
Smasher: " Who knows? I look it up in a book!"

The Committee

The Committee was a gang of small-time street thugs led by the dim-witted Smasher. George developed the blindness chemical that gave them their big break. They were defeated by Daredevil and a group of people who had been previously blind, who were unaffected by their chemical.
George was named, but not clearly identified (I think he's the cool cat in the background), while the other two were never named.
