History: BTS-Smasher apparently received his powers via mutation by Death-Stalker or someone in his employ. At the time, Death-Stalker was posing as Death's Head, in hopes of learning the secret of Paxton Page's cobalt experiments from his daughter, Karen Page. Smasher did not know Death-Stalker's true identity, and thought he was working for Death's Head.

(Daredevil I#138) - Death-Stalker sent Smasher to steal some equipment from the LA Science Institute. Daredevil had connected Smasher to "Death's Head" and to the missing Karen, and tracked Smasher to the Institute. Smasher easily shrugged off several blows from Daredevil and then dropped him with a single punch. Smasher delivered the unconscious form of Daredevil to Death-Stalker, who wisely placed it in one of those inescapable death-traps. Daredevil broke out of that and freed Karen Page.

(Ghost Rider II#20) - Death-Stalker and Smasher located Daredevil and Karen Page anew. As Smasher and Daredevil struggled, Death-Stalker removed his glove and prepared to unleash his death touch on Daredevil. However, Daredevil flipped Smasher, tossing him into Death-Stalker. Annoyed, Death-Stalker shoved Smasher out of his path, using his death touch on him in the process. Smasher died within seconds.
