Powers/Abilities: Keith was teenager who sought escape from his family and life in general by taking mind-altering drugs.
By taking "The Drug," he could
take a form similar to Prime's and possessing vast strength and
durability as well as the ability to fly.
He was typically angry at the
world, and he irrationally shifted from buying drugs to attacking
drug-dealers, from idolizing Prime to attacking Prime to considering
himself to be the only real Prime.
History:
(Prime II#6) - Believing Keith was doing and/or
selling drugs, high school faculty searched his locker. While they
didn't find drugs, they found money, which they believed came from
drugs, and which they confiscated. Physically restrained, Keith cursed
at the faculty, telling them that it wasn't fair and that they would
regret this. New student Kevin Green (secretly the heroic Prime) tried
to calm Keith, but Keith threatened him, "You
looking to die -- little boy?"
That evening, Keith met with his
dealer, Hank, who asked if he wanted to the usual. Keith told him that
he needed him to advance him some as they had taken his money at school
and were going to give it to his mom, from whom he was going to steal
it back. After Hank reminded Keith that they didn't do credit, Hank was
knocked out by the superhuman vigilante Coco. Keith fled as Coco took
out Hank's partner, Phil, beating on him for selling to kids despite
her warning.
(Prime II#6 (fb) - BTS) - Apparently empowered by "The Drug," Keith adopted a Prime-like form and smashed a crack house apartment building.
(Prime II#6) - When the news
reported this and a witness described Prime as being dangerous, Keith
saw at this at the mall arcade, threw a bottle at the TV and cursed out
the people on TV, accusing them of lying. He told them that they would
be sorry they had said that about Prime as he was a hero and that he
would clean up the liars just like he cleaned up the druggies.
Kevin acknowledged to Keith that
Prime was a hero and that he wouldn't have trashed an apartment house.
Keith called Kevin a liar, telling him that Prime was the ultimate and
that he had power with which he could make the world any way he wanted
it, and that he was going to use it to clean up drug-dealing scum.
Further argument was interrupted when the owner or manager of the arcade showed up, demanding to know who had thrown the bottle, leading Keith and the others to disperse.
After Coco had taken down other drug-dealers, Keith confronted her, telling her that she had messed up a score for him but that he had gotten his money back and wanted some of her drugs. He angrily told her that he was hungry and that she owed him, but Coco slapped the money out of his hands, warned him against getting into drugs (like she had done) and told him to use it get a room in a clinic. Keith angrily told her that he knew another place to get his stuff and that when he did, she would be sorry.
Later, having obtained the Drug and taken Prime-form again, he collapsed the building in which Coco was meeting with Solitaire, and he cursed them as "druggies" before flying away.
(Prime II#6 - BTS) - As Solitaire rescued the injured Coco, Prime arrived, drawn to the sound of the collapsing building. Not having seen the Prime impostor clearly, Solitaire assumed Prime to be him and threatened him with his gun, while Prime assumed that Solitaire was trying to frame him for collapsing another building.
(Prime II#7 - BTS) - Prime and Solitaire battled.
(Prime
II#7) - Back in his normal form, Keith jumped off a building near the
two battling heroes. Seeing some kid jump off a building, Prime flew to
the rescue and caught Keith, identifying him upon
seeing his face.
Keith was surprised that Prime
knew who he was, and Prime told him that he had been contracted by the
school about a number of kids in trouble. With Solitaire having
departed, Prime prepared to take Keith home, but Keith refused, telling
Prime to drop him and let him die like he wanted, as he was no good for
anyone.
Prime asked if this was the drugs
Keith was doing but Keith argued that everybody always blamed drugs but
that what if drugs were the only way out, the only thing that made you
worth anything.
He further told Prime that he had
thought that he was different but that he was just like everyone else,
and he asked to be let down. Claiming that he had only jumped to get to
meet Prime, Keith convinced Prime to put him down on the ground by a
bus stop, after which he denounced Prime as a fake.
(Prime II#7 - BTS) - In
succession, Prime and then Solitaire confronted Hank and Phil, forcing
them to explain about "The Drug" that they were selling and noting that
someone with Prime's powers had destroyed their building.
(Prime II#7) - Prime observed the Prime impostor and attempted to follow him, but lost him. However, he soon spotted Keith on the ground and resolved to follow him. Both Solitaire and Prime observed as Keith entered the building Hank and Phil had identified as "the place where the customers go."
(Prime II#7 - BTS) - Solitaire attempted to sneak into the building, but was ambushed and smashed through a wall into the building by a Drug-powered ape-like man.
(Prime II#7) - Figuring Solitaire was after him, Keith fled.
(Prime II#7 - BTS) - As Solitaire battled multiple Drug-powered ultras, Prime entered, thinking he was saving Keith, only to find it was actually Solitaire he had helped. Prime accused Solitaire of teaming up with Keith to lead him there so they could blame him for wrecking the place. Solitaire told Prime that they may both have been making mistakes...
(Prime II#7) - ...at which time
Keith, back in his Drug-powered Prime form, punched down Prime, that
they had made a fatal mistake when they decided to mess with him, "the
one, true Prime."
(Prime II#8) - The Keith Prime
grabbed Solitaire, asking what right he had to stop him and the others
from taking the Drug and to say that they could not be Ultras. Prime
shoved Keith Prime back, asking what right he had to pretend to be him,
but Keith Prime fought back, insisting that he was the real Prime.
After taking a pair of punches, Keith
Prime tackled Prime, telling him not to make him kill his hero
while Prime pointed out that he was alternately attacking and then
protecting drug-users and dealers. Meanwhile, Solitaire fought the
other Drug-empowered ultras, and Coco showed up to aid him.
As Keith Prime became
progressively unhinged, the fight with Prime raised into the air, and
when Keith Prime apparently became unable to see him, Prime punched him
down. Keith Prime crashed into and destroy another building and then
reverted back to his normal Keith form and fled. Seeing him, Prime
realized that Keith was this Prime impostor and followed him.
(Prime II#8 - BTS) - Meanwhile,
Coco
set fire to the stash of the Drug, which was highly flammable and
destroyed the building in which it was being sold.
(Prime II#8) - Keith returned to his home where, as Prime watched, his mom warned him that the world was too dangerous for him, and his father mocked him as unable to be taught or trained.
After Keith went to his room,
Prime flew in, offering to help him and noting how he knew that he was
using the Drug to make him like Prime, but Keith became irate,
interpretting this as Prime telling him that it wasn't him that was a
hero, just the drug.
Prime tried to sympathize with
Keith, who felt like nobody was real and that everybody was lying about
everything, but ultimately when Prime tried to get Keith choose friends
and getting help, Keith instead chose power, and he took a handful of
the Drug.
Keith believed that he was going
to be the most powerful of all, but as he began to transform, he
instead collapsed and revereted back to Keith. After his mom rushed in
and asked what Prime was doing to her son, Prime explained as he flew
Keith to the hospital.
Keith survived, but he was left
ranting, "I can do anything." When not in a straitjacket, he drew
reverse Prime symbols on the wall.
