Powers/Abilities: Borgia Omega has a bionic form
implanted with the preserved and apparently living/re-animated heads of
his ancestors.
His cyborg form has a more human
conformation for the upper body but with long tentacles for arms.
His right arm ends with a blaster weapon able to blow
up and launch a car into the air, while his right arm ends with
paired pincers.
The limb
attachments/endpoints appear to be somewhat modular, as they seemed to
be on different limbs in Deadpool Team-Up I#889.
His lower body is more like a cylinder-like pelvis, with three tentacle-like legs. The front two of these lower limbs may raise and act as additional arms, and the left front lower limb ends with a blunt plier-like claw.
His body is packed full of various gadgets, and his lower body can be modified into a flotation device.
He possesses various aircraft, including a smaller vessel for transporting material he has "re-claimed" for museums, etc., as well as dirigible, with which he fled from his castle.
On the "Island of Certain Death,"
he used a lengthy tentacle
for distant observation and communication.
He presumably is exorbitantly wealthy.
It is unrevealed whether Borgia Omega
had the knowledge and skills to facilitate his own transformation into a
cyborg and/or to restore life/speech to the preserved heads of his
ancestors, or whether he employed others to do this for him.
The technology through which these feats were
accomplished is unrevealed.
Borgia Omega has a number of agents who
immediately followed his orders, even risking their lives, without
question.

transparent, another woman instructed the others to liberate the
poisoner, and then other women used their long-handled hammers
to shatter the pedestal; although one of the museum workers
insisted the the sculpture was priceless, the women countered
that it was nothing compared to what lied within.

- As Omega blasted a Polizia
car, forcing the Polizia to fall back, one of his ancestors noted that
more forces were coming, but Omega said to led them come, and he insisted
that they should dare not stand between him and his rightful possessions.
He further noted the he was reclaiming the works of art that would inspire
a new renaissance.
One of his women informed him that they had found
Lucrezia exactly where he said she would be, and -- entering the museum
and claiming her head -- noted that his family were great patrons of the
arts and asked where better to store the most valuable items and knowledge
of the ages. When another of his agents noted that she had located the map
Caravaggio had hidden for him, he instructed his women to load up his fine
art. He further noted that they had all made such good time that they
could strike their target in Spain that night.
However, as their escape craft opened, they were confronted by Gorilla-Man who mockingly noted that he had figured it was time for "that freak Borgia and his ancestor-tumors to surface and need another beat-down from his old pal Ken Hale."
Borgia ordered his agents to kill Hale, and they soon forced him to flee under gunfire; Borgia then instructed his agents to keep Hale at bay while they loaded his possessions into his ship. "Borrowing" a Polizia motorcycle, Hale then snatched up the female agent who carried Lucrezia's head and convinced her -- via the financial benefits -- to join up with the Atlas Foundation.
With Borgia ordering his forces not to fire for fear
of hitting Lucrezia's head, Gorilla-Man took out a pair of his agents,
stole their guns and then took out the rest of Omega's guards while
smashing into Omega with his motorcycle's tire.

(fb) - BTS) - Somehow escaping, Borgia Omega acquired Lucrezia's
head, added it to his frame and went into hiding in a castle on
an island in the Thyrrhenian Sea.
As no one had ever returned from the island,
it was known as "the Island of Certain Death."
Apparently
learning that Gorilla-Man had discovered his location and was en
route to re-capture him, Omega had Lucrezia hire Deadpool to
stop someone who was trying to kill her.
They further had a number of weapons planted around the island
for Deadpool to use against Gorilla-Man.

- Upon Deadpool's arrival, Lucrezia (speaking remotely)
identified her would-be killer as Gorilla-Man,
claiming
he was coming to kill her to steal her family fortune. Omega
subsequently asked Lucrezia if Deadpool could be the one to
finally bring down "that damned ape," and Lucrezia noted that at
least they would be in for a good show.

explained the true nature of those employing Deadpool.
Denouncing
Hale's account as the "poorest, most reductive telling of his
origin possible," Omega then confronted of the pair via the
extendable tentacle, asking if Deadpool would honor his bargain
with Lucrezia or die alongside Hale. When Deadpool requested
further evidence and a desire to hear both sides of the
argument, Omega unleashed laserdactyls against them while he
prepared to flee in his dirigible.
Both Lucrezia and another Borgia (presumably
Cesare?) criticized Omega for fleeing given their home
island advantage, noting how their proud family was disgraced by
his failure.
Omega angrily silenced them, reminding them that none of them
would have a modern voice if not for him and further noting that
they would regret it if he directly killed Gorilla-Man (which
would cause him to inherit the Gorilla-Man curse, transforming
into the Gorilla-Man himself).
Having
lassoed the laserdactyls, Deadpool and Hale rode them to
confront and assault Borgia Omega, who blasted off one of the
wings of Deadpool's laserdactyl and then took off in the
dirigible while Gorilla-Man rescued Deadpool.
Aboard Gorilla-Man's laserdactyl, Deadpool forced the creature to blast the dirigible at close range, causing it to crash and presumably slaying the laserdactyl in the process (or just knocking Deadpool and Gorilla-Man off of it and allowing it to fly away).
Borgia
Omega formed a raft with his lower body, but Gorilla-Man and
Deadpool tied him up with his own limbs and paddled the raft
under their control.
While
Omega angrily insisted that he was no vessel but rather nobility
incarnate, Lucrezia, existing only as a disembodied head,
assured Deadpool that she could still perform many depravities
in her current state.

I only know the Marvel appearances, and I have no idea
whether the Borgia family had any legitimate claim to the treasures they
"reclaimed" from the museums.
Lucrezia Borgia: though
she *did* marry several men and some of them met an
untimely fate, it is more possible that she did not arrange
those deaths, as her whole family was implied, as times
required, in intricate political ploys. Again, it should be
noted that her *wickedness* is folklore legacy rather
than documented history.

Like many bilingual characters in
comics, Borgia Omega switches between speaking English and Italian, for
instance exclaiming "Mamma Mia!" when surprised and then continuing on in
English.
We don't know how old Borgia Omega is, but the fact
that Gorilla-Man considered that he should pop up every decade would seem
to imply that he had engaged in such a pattern, at least twice if not
several times. Omega's activities and/or his conflict with Hale could even
predate Hale's transformation into the Gorilla-Man.
I would like to see more on the past history of Borgia
Omega...perhaps a few appearances with Ken Hale covering appearances every
decade or so, or even appearances with the First Line in the 1960s, 1970s
and/or 1980s...

An
otherwise unidentified island in the Thyrrhenian Sea (part
of the Mediterranean Sea, off the western coast of Italy),
it had a castle and served as the base of Borgia Omega for
an unspecified period of time.According to legend, at least, no one ever returned from this island, which led to it being called by some "The Island of Certain Death." Believing the region to be cursed, all ships avoided this part of the sea. After escaping Atlas or some other authority's custody, Borgia Omega either returned to or established a base on this island. Omega and/or his agents established an extendable tentacle viewer-communication device on the island. Apparently learning that Gorilla-Man had discovered his location and was en route to re-capture him, Omega had Lucrezia hire Deadpool to stop someone who was trying to kill her.  They further had a number of weapons planted around the island for Deadpool to use against Gorilla-Man. Deadpool paid an unidentified man to bring him to this island. Ignoring the warnings, Deadpool told the man he would call him when his work was done, but the man replied, "We shall never see your like again." Omega subsequently asked Lucrezia if Deadpool could be the one to finally bring down "that damned ape," and Lucrezia noted that at least they would be in for a good show.    These flesh-eating "hungry plants"
existed on the "Island of
Certain Death." As Deadpool and Gorilla-Man tried to rest so Deadpool could recover from being blasted through the mid-section by the Laserdactyls, the plants attempted to devour them. Still needing a bit longer to recover from his injuries, Deadpool asked Gorilla-Man to deal with them, and Gorilla-Man blew the attacking plants to pieces with his handguns. --Deadpool Team-Up I#889 Note: Were they created by Borgia Omega or did they already exist on the "Island of Certain Death," which was why no one had ever returned? On the "Island of Certain Death,"
Borgia
Omega and his components, notably Lucrezia, communicated with
others via this tentacle deal that could extend to most parts of
the island.  It may or may not have originated from Borgia Omega's form as opposed to being an independent piece of technology through which Omega and his components communicated. It passively had an observation eye on its end, which sensed and reported invaders/trespassers to Borgia Omega. Borgia Omega and his components could view and communicate through tentacle, during which time the communicator's face would appear at the end of the tentacle. (Deadpool Team-Up#889) - Upon Deadpool's
arrival, the tentacle eye alerted "Trespasse!" Lucrezia,
speaking and appearing through the end of the tentacle
in the place of the eye, spoke to Deadpool, identifying
her would-be killer as Gorilla-Man,
claiming

  The Laserdactyls are/were
some sort of pterosaur (flighted lizards, see
note), perhaps 6-8' tall with perhaps a 25' wingspan, with wings
extending from their thoracic limbs to the pelvic limbs. They were able to fly while carrying at least 550 lbs. Their flight speed is unrevealed, but they could rapidly catch up to a fleeing dirigible even while carrying 550 lbs. They apparently had bionic implants in their eyes that both granted some measure of sight and allowed them to fire laser powerful enough to blast a hole through Deadpool's torso and/or to blow up a dirigible at relatively close range. They existed on the Island of Certain Death and were to some degree under the control of Borgia Omega and/or his agents. However, they deferred control to anyone riding them directly. Gorilla-Man explained the true nature of those employing

Deadpool expressed reluctance to honor his bargain with
Lucrezia, Omega unleashed laserdactyls against them

laserdactyls blasted a hole through Deadpool's abdomen,
which took him several minutes to recover from (during
which time Gorilla-Man destroyed carnivorous plants

lassoed the laserdactyls, Deadpool and Hale rode them to
confront and assault Borgia Omega, who blasted off one
of the wings of Deadpool's laserdactyl and then took off
in the dirigible while Gorilla-Man rescued Deadpool. Aboard Gorilla-Man's laserdactyl, Deadpool forced the creature to blast the dirigible at close range, causing it to crash and presumably slaying the laserdactyl in the process (or just knocking Deadpool and Gorilla-Man off of it and allowing it to fly away). --Deadpool Team-Up I#889Note: Laserdactyls sounds very cool, although it is a bit of a misnomer. Artistic license can explain the discrepancies, but pterodactyl essentially combines the Greek words for wing and finger, so laserdactyl would mean laser-finger, while the laserdactyls were most accurately a species of pterosaur ("winged lizard") that had laser-firing devices within their bionic eyes. I don't have expertise in paleontology, so, despite spending a couple hours trying to sort the matter out, I can't speak for whether the anatomy of the laserdactyl is appropriate for them to be mutated pterodactyloids as opposed to some other sort of pteranodon. I THINK pterodactyls' wings did not extend down below the knee of the pelvic/hind limb, but I may be wrong. It is unrevealed whether the carnivorous plants and/or the laserdactyls were pre-existing or created by Omega and/or his scientists. I would think the laserdactyls were more likely created/mutated by Omega and his ilk, while the carnivorous plants may or may not have been pre-existing on the Island of Certain Death. If the laserdactyls were not genetically engineered by Borgia Omega's agents, where did they come from? The Savage Land? Indendent research/cloning? Only two laserdactyls were shown. One lost its wing and presumably crashed to the ground, where it would have been vulnerable to other predators, although it may or may have been able to heal rapidly. Lasers fired from its eyes may also have driven off potential predators... The other laserdactyl was not seen after it blasted and destroyed Borgia Omega's dirigible. Was it destroyed, or did it just ditch Deadpool and Gorilla-Man during the distraction of the explosion and fly away? And, were there more laserdactyls? The world may never know. The Laserdactyls could be expanded to their own profile someday if someone else wants to do that... |
