History:
(X-23 III#5 (fb) - BTS) - A series of Alice clones were created by Mister Sinister at some unknown point in the past. The origin of their genetic material and what they were intended to be used for is unknown.

After Miss Sinister was stabbed by Daken she followed her instinct to one of Mr. Sinister's secret hideouts where she used a chair that transferred Mister Sinister's conscience into her body. She broke free of the chair before the process was completed and stayed in control of her body, but had to fight for control ever since, which slowly killed her. She also found several children in stasis at the base, including the series of Alice clones. She didn't know where they came from or how long they had been there, but she released them and started taking care of them. She allowed them to go to the outside world from time to time, but most of the children preferred to stay because their life inside the base was all they knew.

(X-23 III#4 (fb) - BTS) - One of the Alice clones read a book about the pioneer time about a girl named Laura.

(X-23 III#5 (fb) - BTS) - Alice clones (two or three) were taken by agents of Malcolm Colcord or Mister Sinister. At least from one of them the men took blood samples and ran tests on until they realized that she was defective. She was handed over to a handler, who used her on his mission to lure X-23 to him (and presumably hand her over to Mister Sinister). At least two clones were killed by the men. At least one of the clones was injected with something by Mister Sinister.

(X-23 III#4) - Alice's handler took her to the Dinner for Eight diner. She made a call on a public phone and assured her handler's employer that she knew what she had to do. Laura walked past her on her way to the diner and noticed Alice's black eye and her handler. Alice went into the diner and asked Laura if she could sit down at her table. Laura showed compassion and not only allowed her to sit down, but also ordered something to eat for Alice. Alice liked Laura's name because it reminded her of a book she once read about the pioneer days with a girl named Laura. Alice tried to hide that she was punched in the face and that the man outside had sent her inside to convince Laura to come with them. Laura believed him to be Alice's pimp because she smelled the man on Alice, who left the diner in anger and drove off with her handler. Laura soon found the car on the side on the road. Moments later she found Alice and her handler. Alice was dead and her handler was angry that she had failed to do her job. Laura killed him even though the handler told her that he didn't mean to kill Alice.

(X-23 III#5 (fb) - BTS) - Another Alice clone awakened and received the memories of her previous versions. Miss Sinister sent her out into the world to bring X-23 (Laura Kinney) to her by claiming that Alice had something to do with Laura's mother.

(X-23 III#4) - Gambit found Laura and the corpses. He checked in the handler's jacket and found a picture of Laura, which confused Laura and Gambit. They took off on Gambit's motorbike, but were soon stopped by a police blockade. They were rather surprised when Alice stepped out from one of the police cars. Alice told Laura that all of this was about Laura's mother. Laura and Gambit agreed to follow Alice and they were led by the police to a saloon outside town. Alice knew that she had screwed up previously, but Laura knew that she was not the same person. Alice admitted it, but she also had the memories of her predecessor and revealed that the girl that had died was defective and was supposed to lure Laura where they were now, but couldn't do it. Miss Sinister stepped out of the saloon and welcomed Laura and Gambit.

(X-23 III#5) - Alice silently joined Miss Sinister on the hidden elevator inside the saloon that led down to one of Mr. Sinister's hidden bases where a group of children were playing in a pool. Laura and Gambit followed them, but didn't trust Miss Sinister at all. Alice defended Miss Sinister because she had taken care of the children Mr. Sinister had kept in stasis in this base since waking them up and was like a mother to them. Miss Sinister and Alice took Gambit and Laura to the library where more children were playing. Alice was taking one of the boys to bed, but Laura stopped her because she saw how something had changed in her eyes. Miss Sinister admitted that Alice was a clone, but didn't know how the process worked that gave her the memories of her previous version because it was something Mr. Sinister had put into place.

Laura later found Alice reading Peter Pan to the only remaining Alice clone still in stasis because she didn't want her to be lonely. They talked about Alice's previous clones and she revealed that she had felt like a robot at first after waking up, but has since gained more access to the memories of her previous versions.

Alice watched in horror as Miss Sinister turned into Mister Sinister during a fight with X-23 and Gambit.

(X-23 III#6) - Alice watched Mister Sinister knock out Gambit with an energy blast and kill X-23 by crushing her throat. Miss Sinister regained control over her body and ordered Alice to bring Laura to the chair. Alice watched as Miss Sinister tried to transfer her mind into X-23. She ran away to free Gambit from his cell while Mister Sinister took control over X-23's body instead of Miss Sinister. X-23 resisted and kicked Mister Sinister out of her mind in a most violent matter, which caused a psychic explosion, which destroyed the machine and sent Mister Sinister's mind into the remaining Alice clone in stasis. Alice returned to free X-23 from the chair, but was hit over the head by Miss Sinister with a metal pipe. Gambit picked up the badly injured Alice and told X-23 that they had to get out because he had activated the base's self-destruct mechanism. X-23, Gambit and Alice escaped the base, which blew up behind them. They took Alice to a special hospital in San Francisco where her life was saved.

Meanwhile the Alice clone under Mister Sinister's control sat next to the unconscious form of Miss Sinister in the destroyed base and promised to take care of Miss Sinister.

(X-23 III#10 (fb) - BTS) - Gambit read Peter Pan to Laura when she wasn't feeling so well because he remembered that Laura had told him that Alice was reading the novel.

Damn clones! At least she didn't take over the franchise during a zombie apocalypse.

Interstate 80 goes through so many states that it is not a big help to determine where Sinister's base in this story was supposed to be. They ended up in California in the end so it could've been California or Nevada.

I am not 100% sure, but I think Alice references one of Laura Ingalls Wilder's books in X-23 III#4.

When Mister Sinister was next seen in Uncanny X-Men I#544 (December, 2011) he was back in his usual form. Considering he cloned another new body in the same issue to put his conscience in, I don't believe that it was Alice's altered form at the beginning of the issue. He had probably already gone through a few bodies since his appearance as Alice in X-23 III#6.
