History:
(Battle Action I#7) - The Pearl of Pyongyang was the daughter of
Colonel Fei Yang. After an encounter with the U.S. soldier Battle
Brady, Fei Yang stole Brady's personal sidearms and gifted them to his
daughter. The Pearl of Pyongyang was taking a shower in a waterfall
when she was found by Battle Brady and his ally Sgt. "Socko" Swenski,
who were searching for the missing pistols. After the Pearl of
Pyongyang finished her shower and donned her clothing, Brady recognized
his pistols and stepped forward with his rifle drawn, demanding she
return them. The Pearl of Pyongyang claimed she was a South Korean
guerrilla and had taken the guns from a Communist officer. She
pretended to be prepared to return the pistols but instead drew them
and held Brady and Swenski at gunpoint.
The Pearl of Pyongyang summoned her father, whom Brady immediately recognized from their earlier encounter. Colonel Fei Yang ordered Brady to fashion a noose they could use to hang him and Swenski but instead, Brady formed a lariat and snared the Pearl of Pyongyang and her father in the loop. Swenski removed their guns but the Pearl of Pyongyang suddenly slipped out from the lariat, grabbed one of Brady's pistols and jumped over a nearby cliff into a river below. While Brady despaired over losing one of his pistols, Swenski kept Fei Yang as their prisoner.
(Battle Action I#8) - Still armed with Brady's gun, the Pearl of Pyongyang mounted a rescue, liberating her father from the army stockade and taking Battle Brady and Sgt. Swenski prisoner. Colonel Fei Yang ordered the military to supply them with an artillery cannon so they could bombard the American camp with artillery shells. Although they had the shells, the cannon failed to appear and it soon began to snow.
The Pearl of Pyongyang resolved to proceed with their plans without the cannon, instead ordering their men to build sleds out of logs and load the shells on the sleds then slide the logs downhill to the American camp and thereby obliterate it. However, Brady and Swenski escaped their captors and took one of the logs downhill. Along the way, they grabbed the Pearl of Pyongyang and Colonel Fei Yang, bringing them both back to the stockade. However, Brady and Swenski's superior officer Captain Rocke thought it suspicious when he found them with a beautiful woman and accused them of dereliction of duty. While Rocke investigated their story, he confined the Pearl of Pyongyang and put Brady and Swenski into the guardhouse.
Comments: Created by Hank Chapman and Syd Shores.
All Asian femme fatales owe a great debt to Milton Caniff and his creation the Dragon Lady from the newspaper comic strip Terry and the Pirates.
She (and her father) had no name in her first appearance but in Battle Action I#8, she referred to surviving the dive off the cliff in the previous issue, indicating her identity.

CLARIFICATIONS:

Colonel Fei Yang was the Pearl of Pyongyang's father, an overweight Communist officer. After a fight with Battle Brady, he stole both of Brady's pistols and gifted them to his daughter. Colonel Fei Yang later schemed to hang Brady and Swenski to death but Brady used the rope to fashion a lariat and ensnared him. Colonel Fei Yang was captured but the Pearl of Pyongyang escaped and soon returned to liberate her father from a stockade.
