History:
(Marvel Graphic Novel#3: The Metamorphosis Odyssey Book Three: Dreadstar (fb) - BTS) - Nellor ascended/presumably inherited the title of King of the Monarchy,12 century old dynasty founded and maintained by the royal (and highly inbred) family of Dylogo; the Monarchy was one of the two interstellar powers in the Empirical Galaxy, and they warred against their rival, the Instrumentality. Eventually the war reached a stable state with the empires dependent on the war to maintain their economy.nellor-king-8116-door

Nellor worked with unspecified corporate powers to maintain this smoldering war.

(Marvel Graphic Novel#3: The Metamorphosis Odyssey Book Three: Dreadstar (fb) - BTS) - Presumably concerned that his nephew, Prince Gregzor, who was next in line for the throne, might be tempted to kill him if he knew to much, Nellor never shared with Gregzor what was going on or how he ran the Monarchy.

(Marvel Graphic Novel#3: The Metamorphosis Odyssey Book Three: Dreadstar (fb) - BTS) - The Monarchy's intelligence forces received decades-old information about the Instrumentality's "cat warriors,"  and King Nellor gave the order that they should destroy them before they were put into action as well as to terminate any scientists they found on the site.

(Marvel Graphic Novel#3: The Metamorphosis Odyssey Book Three: Dreadstar - BTS) - A months later, the Monarchy's First Nova Squadron assaulted the village with orders to terminate all cat people and scientists they encountered.

First Nova Squadron slaughtered all of the peaceful cat people...

(Epic Illustrated#15) - ...(excepting the younger Oedi, who survived)...

(Marvel Graphic Novel#3: The Metamorphosis Odyssey Book Three: Dreadstar (fb) - BTS) - ...and they slew Delilah, the human woman who lived among them, as well.

(Marvel Graphic Novel#3: The Metamorphosis Odyssey Book Three: Dreadstar - BTS) - Having been visiting with the mystic Syzygy Darklock during this assault, Vanth (Delilah's husband of 30+ years) returned in time to learn what had happened from crashed pilot Lt. Sandorz, whom Vanth then slew.

(Marvel Graphic Novel#3: The Metamorphosis Odyssey Book Three: Dreadstar (fb) - BTS) - Vanth spent the next two years rising to the rank of captain in the Monarchy's Second Royal Division, during which time he facilitated the extermination of their First Nova Squadron. nellor-king-8116-dreadstar

As Vanth was being too successful and the Monarchy did not actually want to win the war, he was reassigned to be serve in the Royal Palace's military liaison office in Jewelcity, Jewelworld.

By this point, Vanth had resolved that while he would kill King Nellor (who was too headstrong and treacherous for Vanth's plans to succeed), he would then manipulate his heir, then Prince Gregzor, to end the Instrumentality-Monarchy War.

(Marvel Graphic Novel#3: The Metamorphosis Odyssey Book Three: Dreadstar - BTS) - Vanth arrived at the royal palace. One inside, he changed into his previous fighting outfit, destroyed a pair or robots, took out a number of Royal Cyborg Guardians (after giving them a chance to step aside), and made his way to King Nellor's chambers where he was enjoying the company of young woman.

(Marvel Graphic Novel#3: The Metamorphosis Odyssey Book Three: Dreadstar) - Having heard the fighting outside his room, Nellor drew his blaster. The girl asked him what was going on out there, and Nellor admitted that he did not know but that it sounded like some sort of raid.

After things quieted down, Nellor noted that it had become awfully quiet out there, and that maybe his boys had handled the problem already.

Instead, Dreadstar shouted, "King Nellor, I've come for you!"

Nellor ordered the girl back, telling her that he would handle this, but Dreadstar then shattered the door with his powerful Sword of Icy Fire, jarring the blaster out of Nellor's hand and knocking Nellor to a knee at the same time. Nellor asked who is attacker was, and Dreadstar told him, "I am a memory from the planet Caldor. I am death."nellor-king-8116-corpse

(Marvel Graphic Novel#3: The Metamorphosis Odyssey Book Three: Dreadstar (fb) - BTS) - Dreadstar then brutally slaughtered Nellor and escaped his chambers (see comments).

(Marvel Graphic Novel#3: The Metamorphosis Odyssey Book Three: Dreadstar) - Looking at Nellor's smoking corpse, one of the guards noted that he had never seen anyone killed like that. "This wasn't murder..this is insane slaughter...butchery..."

(Marvel Graphic Novel#3: The Metamorphosis Odyssey Book Three: Dreadstar - BTS) - Nellor's nephew Gregzor inherited the role of king, and Dreadstar secretly met with him convincing him -- under threat of death -- to allow him to guide him in bringing about the end of the war.

Dreadstar / Reality-8116 primer

We know that Syzygy Darklock used a spell of molecular transport to help Dreadstar get out of the palace without getting shot, but I think it is likely that Syzygy also facilitated Dreadstar's traveling from Nellor's quarters to Gregzor's.

CLARIFICATIONS:
Nellor
should be distinguished from:

"girl"

nellor-king-8116-girl     Either employed or for other reasons, she was providing (presumably) romantic company for King Nellor the night Dreadstar approached. She was understandably worried, but she obeyed her king's orders to stay back.

She either witnessed Dreadstar's slaughter of Nellor or she fled to the back room, but she certainly witnessed his corpse, which caused her to cover her eyes in horror.

--Marvel Graphic Novel#3: The Metamorphosis Odyssey Book Three: Dreadstar

Note: Nellor just called her girl...he may or may not have known her real name.
