History:

(Marvel Apes I#1 (fb) - BTS) - At some point, Hawkeye and the Scarlet Witch, once dangerous criminals, were rehabilitated by Captain America (secretly Baron Blood/John Falsworth) and inducted into the Ape-Vengers. This began a tradition of "rehabilitation" that Captain America proudly upheld, with other villains such as Boomerangutan, Scorpion, Sand Monk, and Juggermonk eventually following the same path.

(Marvel Apes I#2) - Following the trial of Doctor Ooktopus, Hawkeye was seen at Ape-Vengers Tower as Captain America introduced himself to Earth-616's Dr. Fiona Fitzhugh, who had become stranded on the ape world alongside the Gibbon.

(Marvel Apes I#3 - BTS) - Hawkeye and the other Ape-Vengers were deceived into believing that the Gibbon had slain Reed Richards and was preparing an interdimensional invasion. In truth, Richards had been murdered by Captain America, secretly Baron Blood, who had replaced the true Captain America during World War II. Baron Blood sought to invade Earth-616 through Fitzhugh and Richards' dimensional portal.

(Marvel Apes I#4) - Hawkeye was present when the Ape-Vengers apprehended Dr. Fitzhugh and the Gibbon, personally helping Ms. Marvel carry off the Gibbon after Captain America struck him.

Later that night, as Fitzhugh was forced to activate the portal to Earth-616, Hawkeye and the others glimpsed their human counterparts on giant screens before Captain America delivered an enigmatic speech rallying his forces for invasion. Just as the portal was to be opened, the Outcasts, a group of rejected super-simians, arrived in force. Hawkeye and the Ape-Vengers clashed with them until the original Captain America, saved by the Outcasts, revealed himself and exposed Baron Blood's deception. When the vampiric Invaders appeared, the Ape-Vengers and Fantastic Four allied with the Outcasts to battle Blood and his forces. In the climactic battle, Fitzhugh and the Gibbon returned to their home-reality with the gravely wounded Speedball, after which Ape X slew Baron Blood, destroying the portal in the process. The blast tore apart part of the Ape-Vengers Tower, but the heroes emerged victorious.

(The Spectacular Spider-Men I#6/2 (fb)) - Now going by Hawkape, he joined Captain America and the Iron Mandrill to fight the joined forces of Doctor Ooktopus, L-ook-i and Mole Monk causing chaos in the streets of Monkhattan. During the fight Hawkape faced Ooktopus while Captain America expressed they needed the Invisible Simian's help to stop the villains. Hawkape and the others were unaware they were being watched by Atleza Langunn, guardian of the Infinity Abyss who oversaw her subset of the multiverse.

(The Spectacular Spider-Men I#6/2 - BTS) - When Atleza's multiversal subset began to decay, she concluded the cause lay in Earth-616's Deadpool and Wolverine not being best friends, unlike their counterparts in all other realities. Seeking to "correct" this flaw, she dispatched the pair on a quest to fulfill their destined bond. Lacking understanding, Deadpool and Wolverine instead embarked on a murderous rampage across the multiverse, killing every being they encountered in hopes of eliminating the source of the decay.

(Avengers IX#17/2) - Hawkape, alongside Black Widorangutan, Black Panther, and Huhr, fell victim to Deadpool and Wolverine's bloody campaign, slain in battle while fellow Ape-Vengers including "Wonder Ape," Quicksilver, Vision, and the Scarlet Witch looked on, likely meeting the same fate soon after.

(X-Men VII#2/2 - BTS) - When Earth-616's Deadpool and Wolverine proved incapable of restoring the multiverse, Atleza Langunn recruited superior variants of the pair, merging into a singular being able to halt the decay. In doing so, the multiverse was restored, resurrecting Hawkape and all those slain during the rampage.

Comments: Created by Karl Kesel.

The Marvel Apes limited series (2008) was conceived as a playful companion to the earlier Marvel Zombies phenomenon. Following the unexpected commercial success of Zombies, Marvel looked to replicate the formula by reimagining its superheroes in another offbeat, high-concept alternate reality. Writer Karl Kesel, inspired by Silver Age whimsy and the classic "What If?" tradition, pitched a world where Marvel's heroes and villains were evolved primates rather than humans. The project was greenlit as a four-issue miniseries, launching with a tongue-in-cheek promotional campaign that leaned into its absurdity while still delivering a surprisingly dark, satirical storyline. The series spawned several tie-ins and one-shots, positioning the Ape-Verse as both a parody of and homage to Marvel's multiverse storytelling.

Earth-8101 is the main Marvel Apes reality, but there are three others as well:
  - Earth-81218, possible future of Earth-8101 set in the year 2099.
  - Earth-90543, monkey Speedball was send back to his world and branded a traitor by the Ape-Vengers. This was a bad dream of the Gibbon.
  - Earth-95019, diverged from 8101 when zombies invaded their world. The reset button was eventually pushed on the original Earth-8101, preventing the divergence.
