History:

(Avengers IX#17/2 - BTS) - Wookandan T'Challa became a member of the Ape-Vengers at an unrevealed point in time.

(Avengers IX#17/2 - BTS) - When Atleza Langunn's multiversal subset began to decay, she concluded the cause lay in Earth-616's Deadpool and Wolverine not being best friends, unlike their counterparts in all other realities. Seeking to "correct" this flaw, she dispatched the pair on a quest to fulfill their destined bond. Lacking understanding, Deadpool and Wolverine instead embarked on a murderous rampage across the multiverse, killing every being they encountered in hopes of eliminating the source of the decay.

(Avengers IX#17/2) - Black Panther, alongside Hawkape, Black Widorangutan, and Huhr, fell victim to Deadpool and Wolverine's bloody campaign, slain in battle while fellow Ape-Vengers including "Wonder Ape," Quicksilver, Vision, and the Scarlet Witch looked on, likely meeting the same fate soon after.

(X-Men VII#2/2 - BTS) - When Earth-616's Deadpool and Wolverine proved incapable of restoring the multiverse, Atleza Langunn recruited superior variants of the pair, merging into a singular being able to halt the decay. In doing so, the multiverse was restored, resurrecting the Black Panther and all those slain during the rampage.

Both Marvel Apes I#2 (December, 2008) and Marvel Apes I#3 (December, 2008) included a Bonobo-Pen Bulletin letter page that established that several Marvel Apes variant covers at the time were part of their reality with fun little solicitations of those issues. In the Bonobo-Pen Bulletin letter page for Marvel Apes I#2 (December, 2008) Wookanda was established as the alternative for Wakanda in the solicitation for Fantastic Four#582 noting that the Fantastic Four just returned from their adventure in Wookanda, as such it seems very likely they'd interacted with the Black Panther. And in Marvel Apes I#3 (December, 2008) Wookanda is mentioned in the solicitation for Uncanny X-Simian#18 noting Colobbus, Wolverine and Bishape returned from Wookanda to rescue the X-Mansion, as such it seems very likely they'd interacted with the Black Panther.

The Marvel Apes limited series (2008) was conceived as a playful companion to the earlier Marvel Zombies phenomenon. Following the unexpected commercial success of Zombies, Marvel looked to replicate the formula by reimagining its superheroes in another offbeat, high-concept alternate reality. Writer Karl Kesel, inspired by Silver Age whimsy and the classic "What If?" tradition, pitched a world where Marvel's heroes and villains were evolved primates rather than humans. The project was greenlit as a four-issue miniseries, launching with a tongue-in-cheek promotional campaign that leaned into its absurdity while still delivering a surprisingly dark, satirical storyline. The series spawned several tie-ins and one-shots, positioning the Ape-Verse as both a parody of and homage to Marvel's multiverse storytelling.

Earth-8101 is the main Marvel Apes reality, but there are three others as well:
  - Earth-81218, possible future of Earth-8101 set in the year 2099.
  - Earth-90543, monkey Speedball was send back to his world and branded a traitor by the Ape-Vengers. This was a bad dream of the Gibbon.
  - Earth-95019, diverged from Earth-8101 when zombies invaded their world. The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A-Z Update #5 indicates that the timelines designated Earth-95019 and Earth-21050 were seemingly erased when Earth-616's Gorilla Girl went back to the moment the portal was opened and destroyed it.
