(
Prelude to Deadpool Corps#5 (fb) - BTS) - When the Elders sought to thwart the universe-threatening plot of the consciousness-absorbing Awareness (a survivor from the previous universe), the Contemplator decided that a coalition of alternate reality Deadpools would be perfect for the job as their madness would make them unpredictable and thus able to defeat the Awareness.

After Contemplator therefore gathered Deadpool-616, Dogpool-103173, Headpool-2149, Kidpool-10330, and Lady Deadpool-3010, fellow Elder the Grandmaster argued that the Robot race of Centauri 9 and/or the Mad Folk of the Crab Nebula would be more worthy for the task of opposing the Awareness. Contemplator argued that the Awareness would defeat them easily, but Grandmaster proposed a contest of their champions, with the winner getting the chance to save the universe. Though feeling this was a waste of time, Contemplator agreed that this was the simplest way to resolve their dispute and move on.

A game of "Capture the Flag" was thus arranged by the Contemplator.

The "Deadpool Corps" (as they would later be known) acquired a ship from Ashtar's moon with guidance from the Contemplator's high priest Kort.

The "Corps" planned for Deadpool-616 to somehow board the Centauri 9 robots' ship and to disable its engines with a bomb.

(Prelude to Deadpool Corps#5) - Floating via spacesuit, Deadpool-616 instructed the others, aboard their ship, to get behind the moon so their opponents could not see them.

When the robots' immense ship was detected by Headpool floating right behind Deadpool, he responded that he couldn't see a thing...until he turned his head a couple degrees...after which he could see it clearly.vs. Deadpool

Deadpool-616 turned around toward the robots' ship and instructed the others to turn on his universal translator and open a frequency to the robots' ship (whether they did so is unclear), after which he demanded the robots halt immediately to discuss the terms of their surrender; the ship continued on its path, and Deadpool smacked into a view portal in front of a pair of the robots.

(Prelude to Deadpool Corps#5 - BTS) - As Lady Deadpool engaged the Mad Folk, Kidpool and Headpool launched a meteor containing Dogpool toward the planet containing the flag.

Deadpool-616 then somehow boarded the robots' ship, announcing he had done so without discovery, but the robots detected and confronted him seconds later (perhaps because he spoke aloud). He then used the bomb (the one he was supposed to use to disable the ship's engines) to take out a number of robots. Deadpool instead decided that this was a great chance to pilot a really, really big spaceship.

(Prelude to Deadpool Corps#5) - After the Mad Folk conceded that Lady Deadpool had gained control of their ship and initiated a self-destruct sequence (with some escaping aboard a landing shuttle to the target planet), Deadpool-616 and Lady Deadpool piloted the robots' and Mad Folk's ship to collide, with the explosion destroying both ships.

(Prelude to Deadpool Corps#5 - BTS) - The ship was crippled, if not totally destroyed, and it is unclear how many of the robots perished in the crash. Both Deadpool-616 and Lady Deadpool survived.

    Dogpool obtained the flag.

The Contemplator explained that while the robot minds could resist the Awareness, they had no capacity for creativity, and Grandmaster conceded that the Deadpools were the ones for the job.

When the Grandmaster sent them to compete against a group of alternate reality Deadpools and the Mad Folk of the Crab Nebula, Deadpool-616 boarded their ship after it slammed into him.

Deadpool blew up a bunch of the robots with a bomb, and then crashed the ship into the Mad Folk's ship (piloted by Lady Deadpool).

The ship was crippled, if not totally destroyed, and it is unclear how many of the robots perished in the crash. Both Deadpools survived.
