History:
(Namora#3/5 (fb) - BTS) - College swimming champion Jim Torrence sought the affection of Namora, who rejected and avoided him.
(Namora#3/5) - Torrence spied Namora swimming to Gull Rock and dived in after her. Torrence spoke with the lighthouse keepers, Ezra Hanson and his daughter Mary, both friends of Namora, before swimming back. He soon told the local mayor about Ezra's desire to quit his post and devised a plan to frame Ezra for local crimes, donning a hood while in his swimming trunks to hide his identity. As the Hood, Torrence kidnapped and bound Ezra on a tiny island and later continued his crime spree. Meanwhile, Namora found and freed Ezra, helping to overpower and expose Torrence as the Hood. He was later arrested.

The Hood has no known connections to:
Father to Mary, Ezra Hanson once captained a boat that ran aground. Now 60 years old, he was left to look after a lighthouse, but wanted a better life for himself and his daughter. He spoke of this when Namora and Torrence visited, but was kidnapped and framed for local robberies by Torrence (as the Hood). Namora discovered him and untied him, and Ezra punched out the Hood when he returned. Ezra received a reward, spending it in a big city, but was instead keen to return to his simple existence.

Mary lived with her father on Gull Rock. An expert seamstress, she was a friend of Namora's and disliked Torrence. She was later concerned about the mounting evidence against her father. After her father was found innocent, she also wished to return to the island after experiencing big city life.
