regards to her family.
She had access to a Quantum
Crystal that allowed her to communicate with her son Wendell (aka the
heroic Quasar) when she placed both hands on it. Whether she still
retains the Crystal following Quasar's death and subsequent
resurrection remains to be seen.

Wendell replied that he wouldn't need the car, Lisa counseled Wendell
on moping around in his old room. Wendell admitted he was a bit down
about his recent poor showing on his S.H.I.E.L.D. finals but Lisa
assured Wendell that she was proud of him and that he could never do
anything to change that.

I#2 (fb) - BTS) - After
becoming the heroic Quasar and
tendering his resignation with the Project: PEGASUS energy research
facility, the depressed Wendell spent several following weeks at his
mother Lisa's home, sitting in his old room strumming his guitar,
lifting weights and avoiding life. Concerned about Wendell, Lisa
ultimately called her ex-husband Gilbert in hopes that Gilbert could
draw Wendell out of his depression.
(Quasar I#3 (fb) - BTS) - When Gilbert convinced Quasar to travel to
Uranus to learn the origins of his Quantum Bands, Lisa promised Quasar
that she would save all the news magazines while he was gone so he
could catch with the news once he returned.
(Quasar I#2) - As Quasar neared Uranus, he communicated with his
father Gilbert, who replied back that Lisa was in his lab and wanted to
say a few words to Wendell. Getting over the coms, Lisa greeted Quasar
and asked him to be careful, as he only had five days to explore the
solar system before his intravenous nutrients would be used up.
Laughing to himself that a trip into space was what finally got his
mother and father in the same room together after their divorce, Quasar
assured Lisa that he could hear her loud and clear before asking his
father how the video reception was. As Gilbert confirmed the reception,
Lisa wondered to herself if a trip alone into space was the best way to
bring Wendell out of his depression.
(Quasar I#3 - BTS) - After Quasar returned to Earth as the new Protector of the Universe, he flew over New York City and thought to himself how he needed to call his mother in Wisconsin to inform her of his return. Recalling his mother's promise to save news magazines for him, Quasar suspected it might take a month for him to catch up.
(Quasar I#4 - BTS) - While Wendell Vaughn was getting his new security consultant office set up in Four Freedoms Plaza, his new secretary Kayla Ballantine noticed a photo of Lisa and Gayle Vaughn and Wendell revealed that the photo was of his mother and sister, who both lived in Wisconsin. A smiling Kayla commented that Lisa and Gayle must be proud of Wendell running his own business in New York City, to which Wendell remarked only with "I guess so."
(Quasar I#18 (fb) - BTS) - The cosmic Unbeing, posing as the young
Billy Betelheim, son of Lisa's neighbor Norma, used his powers to
"uncreate" Quasar, removing knowledge of his existence from the entire
world, including knowledge of Wendell's identity as Quasar from Lisa's
memories.
(Quasar
I#18) - A confused Wendell
Vaughn, with no memory of his
time as Quasar, found himself back in Oshkosh, Wisconsin just down the
street from his mother's house. Figuring he must be there for a visit,
Wendell entered Lisa Vaughn's home and both she and her daughter Gayle
greeted Wendell with a big hug. Lisa immediately asked why Wendell had
not called and what the occasion of his visit was since Thanksgiving
wasn't for another month. She then insisted that if she had known
Wendell was coming, she would've made him his favorite food and when
Wendell claimed he loved everything she made, Lisa asked about her tuna
casserole, to which Wendell joked "Well, almost everything." The three
Vaughns then moved onto the couch, where Gayle interrogated Wendell on
how their dad was doing and whether or not Wendell had a girlfriend, at
which point Lisa suggested Gayle "cool it." Lisa asked if Wendell would
be staying the weekend and Wendell replied in the affirmative before
using Lisa's phone to call his office to inform them of his location.
Following the call, Lisa gave Wendell another hug and expressed
happiness for the surprise visit before suggesting the peaked Wendell
take a nap while she cooked dinner.
A little while later, Gayle came up to wake Wendell and bring him down for dinner, where Lisa had made pot roast. As they prepared to eat dinner, Lisa mentioned how funny it was that Wendell had dropped in, as she was talking to someone the day before that idolized Wendell. Revealing Wendell's fan to be Billy, the son of her neighbor Norma Betelheim, Lisa explained how Billy idolized Wendell for being an Oshkosh boy that had moved to New York, the superhero capital of the world. After relating Billy's dreams of moving to New York to become a comic book artist, Lisa suggested Wendell pay Billy a visit. Wendell agreed and, after dinner, Norma stopped by the Vaughn home to introduce Billy to Wendell. Billy soon brought Wendell to his clubhouse, where Billy claimed his true nature as the cosmic being Origin and asked Wendell to use his mother's car to travel to a nursing home to destroy his counterpart, the Unbeing. Unsure of what to think, Wendell returned to his mother's home and informed Billy's mother that Billy would be sleeping in his clubhouse again. Later that night, after Wendell had excused himself to bed early, Lisa came up to tuck him in like she did for him as a boy. While Lisa was there, Wendell asked her if she would be willing to do something terrible if it meant fixing something else that had gone terribly wrong. Lisa shrugged off Wendell's question and bid him a goodnight, suggesting he get some rest. The next day, Wendell borrowed Lisa's car to pick up Billy but after his superhuman powers and worldwide knowledge of his existence were restored, Quasar realized something didn't seem right and he instead blasted Billy, who was revealed as the true Unbeing while the elderly woman Billy sought to kill proved to be Origin.
(Quasar
I#21) - Following the death
of Gilbert Vaughn, Lisa and
Gayle attended Gilbert's funeral alongside Wendell and several of his
associates in Queens, New York. As they left the grave, Lisa asked how
Wendell was holding up and he admitted having a lot of anger and regret
over a fight he had with his father the last time they had spoken. Lisa
tried to assure Wendell that wherever Gilbert was now, she was sure he
had forgiven Wendell, but the angry Wendell exclaimed that his father
had went nowhere when he died and there was now no one to forgive him.
Lisa replied that Wendell would have to forgive himself then, as he
knew his father would have wanted that. Becoming increasingly agitated
over the whole situation, the mourning Wendell stormed off from his
mother and sister, exclaiming that he wanted and deserved to feel bad.
(Quasar I#26) - Upon returning to Earth following a battle against the cosmic Maelstrom, Quasar flew over to Oshkosh, Wisconsin home of Lisa Vaughn to surprise her. Busy cooking, Lisa heard someone enter the kitchen and asked if it were Gayle arriving home early from work but Quasar put his arms around his mother and asked her to guess who. Seeing Quasar's Quantum Bands, a joyful Lisa recognized her son and asked what the occasion was. Revealing that he had stopped the cosmic threat for which he had become Protector of the Universe, a smiling Quasar explained how everything was now safe and that he couldn't imagine ever having to go through something so dangerous again. Lisa commented on how wonderful that was and asked about his new costume, at which point Quasar asked if she liked it. After Lisa said Quasar looked great, Quasar apologized for how badly he had earlier acted during his father's funeral, explaining how he was sad about it but had since made peace with Gilbert's death. Lisa assured Quasar he didn't have to apologize, joking that if she couldn't tell by that point when her son was upset, her "mother's license" should be taken away. Quasar then picked up his mother and commented on how great she was, promising to visit more often and prompting a skeptical Lisa to tell Quasar she wouldn't hold him to such promises. Three days later, during the funeral of his mentor Eon, Quasar witnessed the unexpected arrival of the mad Titan Thanos and thought to himself how he'd just told his mother that his life wouldn't be so dangerous anymore.

I#49 (fb) - BTS) - Before
leaving Lisa's home, Quasar explained that he would be leaving the
solar system for a time. Months later, Lisa found a cancerous lump on
her breast and she attempted but failed to reach her son Wendell
off-planet. She soon went to the hospital to receive a radical
mastectomy to remove the lump.
(Quasar I#49) - Months following his last visit with his mother,
after Kayla Ballantine disappeared, Quasar fell into a funk, feeling
like he had failed to both protect the universe and the people he cared
about, but he soon realized he could vent his feelings to his mother in
Wisconsin, unaware of her cancer diagnosis. Flying to Oshkosh, Quasar
used his Quantum Bands to create a key to let himself in and noticed
all of the lights were out. Suspecting his mother was out, Quasar
transformed back into his civilian clothes and walked past a photo of
his mother with him and his sister Gayle as children, noting that
perhaps Lisa needed some more recent photos of him. Wendell then sat
down to watch some television while he waiting for Lisa to return home,
grumbling that Lisa had not gotten set up for cable. After two more
hours passed, Wendell became concerned and decided to call around to
see if she was visiting a friend. After five calls, Wendell reached
Mrs. Ohm and learned that his mother had been hospitalized.
Immediately flying over to the hospital, the worried Wendell met with Dr. Cairns, Lisa's physician. Dr. Cairns informed Wendell that Lisa was stable and recovering well, expressing hope that mastectomy would prevent a cancer reoccurrence elsewhere in Lisa's body. Understanding the seriousness of the situation, Wendell asked Dr. Cairns if he could be alone with the sleeping Lisa for a moment and once Dr. Cairns left the room, Wendell put his head and quietly apologized to his mother for being "such a lousy son." Exclaiming that despite all of his power, he couldn't even those he loved most, Wendell stood up and announced his refusal to fail her. He then proclaimed that he would find a way to help her, leaving a Quantum transit capsule in her room so that he could immediately teleport back if needed while he departed to check with the cosmic Epoch about possible cures for cancer. After becoming frustrated at the lack of information about a full cure, Quasar next visited the Elder of the Universe Caregiver and asked her to help his mother. Caregiver asked if Lisa Vaughn was of cosmically significant importance and when Quasar explained that Lisa was more personally significant, Caregiver informed Quasar that Lisa was outside Caregiver's sphere of influence. The angry Quasar then confronted Death itself and demanded she stay away from his mother, only to realize the folly of his actions and that his mother was not immortal.
Returning to Lisa's hospital room, Wendell terrified Dr. Cairns by emerging from the Quantum transit capsule and the weak Lisa noticed Wendell, trying to explain how she had tried to reach him. Explaining how he hadn't been home in months, Wendell expressed worry for his mother, who assured him that she was tough. Wendell then suggested Lisa get some rest and promised he would be there when she woke up.
(Quasar
I#50) - Dr. Cairns came
around to give Lisa an update on her cancer and Lisa asked Cairns to
give the news to her straight. Cairns explained that they had
successfully gotten all of the cancer and, with a little chemotherapy,
there was a good chance there would be no cancer reoccurrence. Happy to
hear the news, Lisa smiled and Cairns remarked that she would come back
later to discuss reconstruction so that Lisa could spend a little more
time with Wendell. Once Dr. Cairns had left the room, Lisa commented
that it would take more than a little cancer to take out "this old
bird." Wendell assured his mother that she was not old but she
suggested Wendell head out to continue protecting the universe,
promising him that Gayle would be there soon to continue taking care of
her. When Wendell asked if Lisa was sure there was nothing else he
could, Lisa asked to see Wendell in his Quasar costume so Wendell
transformed into Quasar. Admitting that the costume was beginning to
grow on her, Lisa said her goodbyes at Quasar told her he loved her and
flew out the window. Outside, Quasar communicated with Epoch and
apologized for his outburst the day prior, explaining that he was
stressed over his mother's cancer diagnosis.
(Quasar
I#60) - Feeling as if his
very presence endangered those he cared about, Quasar opted to leave
Earth forever and decided to say goodbye to his mother and sister
first. In the middle of cooking, Lisa happily greeted Quasar and both
she and Gayle rushed over to hug him. Halting their affection, Quasar
informed them that he had come to say goodbye, as it may be the last
time he ever saw either of them, stopping both Lisa and Gayle in their
tracks with surprise. Assuring them that he was not dying or anything,
Quasar explained that he'd been neglected his job as Protector of the
Universe and spending too much time on Earth, prompting Lisa to argue
that they barely got to see him when he was on Earth. Admitting Lisa
was right and claiming that if he could do things over, he would visit
more often, Quasar left a Quantum Crystal for them to use in
life-or-death situations to communicate with him before hugging them
both once more and departing as the emotional Lisa and Gayle waved him
goodbye.
(Star
Masters I#1) - Quasar
received a communication from Lisa via the Quantum Crystal he'd left
her stating the people were panicking as if it were the end of the
world and asking for Quasar to investigate. Quasar decided to
discreetly investigate, finding the words "We Come in Peace" in
gigantic letters in the sky as Lisa, still holding the Quantum Crystal,
hoped for Quasar's arrival.
(Star Masters I#2) - Lisa was at home sewing as Gayle watched television reports of a large meteor heading towards Earth. Gayle looked over at Lisa and suggested it was a job for Quasar, assuming he was not dead as the news had claimed. Lisa insisted that Quasar was not dead, claiming that she would know if he were, and a sarcastic Gayle just replied with "Sure, mom." Later, after the crisis had been averted, Lisa reminded Gayle that she knew Wendell would let such a catastrophe occur. Gayle sarcastically responded by stating that her mother had no knowledge that Wendell had anything to do with halting the crisis and Lisa admitted that she just had a feeling about it.
(Avengers Infinity I#1 - BTS) - While out in space alone, Quasar
thought about how he hadn't spoken to anyone in a long time and as he
thought, he generated Quantum Energy images of those he missed most
including the Silver Surfer, Beta Ray Bill, Epoch, his sister Gayle and
mother Lisa. Thinking more on how much he missed Earth and his family,
Quasar thought on how even his best Quantum Energy images didn't do
Lisa or Gayle justice.

The Marvel Database lists both Lisa and Gayle Vaughn as appearing in a photo seen in Quasar I#3 but I could not find such photo anywhere in that issue. Lisa is mentioned by Quasar a couple of times in the issue but never by name, only as "mom."
Lisa Vaughn's hair was mistakenly
colored completely white in one panel of Quasar I#21. In Quasar I#50,
for a few panels, she strangely appears with brown hair but white
eyebrows. Of course, when we last saw Lisa, she had let herself so full
gray (as seen in the image above showing her with a Quantum Crystal).
In addition, Lisa's eyes are mistakenly colored blue in Quasar I#60
& Star Masters I#1.
In Quasar I#49, when Quasar visits his mother's house, he mentions that the last time they spoke, he was leaving the solar system and that Lisa didn't like his current costume. We don't see either of these things in Lisa's prior appearance in Quasar I#26. In that issue, we see Quasar visiting Lisa before it cuts away to three days later at Eon's funeral. Now Quasar (in #49) could be referencing something that occurred off-panel in between when he arrived to visit Lisa & Eon's funeral three days later. It's very possible that when he left Lisa's home to head to Eon's funeral, he could have very well told Lisa he was leaving the solar system off-panel. That takes care of that statement but the remark about Lisa not liking his costume is in direct conflict with how Lisa reacts to the costume in Quasar I#26. In #26, she notices the new costume and says Quasar looks great. There was no indication that she didn't like the costume (unless Lisa was referenced or made an appearance somewhere between Quasar I#26 & #49 that I'm not aware of) and it seems strange that Mark Gruenwald might have a continuity flubb, given his staunch support of continuity. Then again, we all make mistakes sometimes, I suppose.
Despite being mentioned as a
librarian in Quasar I#4, we never actually see Lisa at work. Most of
the time, we just see her cooking. It's possible she's actually a retired librarian...
