Powers/Abilities: Ombu-Doksi is an evolved immortal Lemur that had adapted her appearance to mostly resemble a human. She was seen to extend her jaw to around 6'3" in height and width to devour whatever she desired in one fell swoop. The limit to her mouth's extension is unknown. She could also use her tongue like an additional extremity to hold or grab on to things. She could survive the destruction of her body by detaching her mouth, which could regrow into a full body.

Though she could consume all living beings she only found nourishment in souls.

Over the millennia she acquired vast knowledge of sorcery, sewing, evolution and human behavior. She combined her knowledge of sorcery and sewing to create tapestries and quilts that influenced reality. She combined her knowledge of sorcery, evolution, human behavior and sewing to created living beings from the remains of the dead. She was capable to travel interdimensionally and create magically imbued portal crystals from silicone.

Using her portal crystal she could temporarily transfer her mouth onto items or beings on Earth to influence humans.

She suffered from severe agoraphobia, which by definition meant that she was afraid to enter open or crowded areas or leaving her home at all.

History:
(Suburban Jersey Ninja She-Devils#1 (fb)) - She was born around 50 million years ago as a lemur with several mutation that extended her lifespan indefinitely and enabled her over the span of millions of years to evolve and keep up with the most advanced primates around it.

   During the Pleistocene era she had evolved into humanoid form and hunted early boar. She also gained her first name from fellow humanoids and became known as Ombu, which meant "sucking death."

   Ombu moved to Atlantis were she learned magic around 20,000 years ago. She lived alone in her towers and wove tapestries and quilts that depicted scenes of war and bloodshed that tended to become reality. She enjoyed watching less fortunate people kill each other as depicted in her stitched creations. (see comments)

   Before the Great Cataclysm that sank Atlantis Ombu stitched a quilt depicting her escape. She was seen singing and skipping through the streets to her escape ship during the devastating event. Though she escaped the Great Cataclysm she remained at sea for weeks because she had forgotten to stitch her landfall to the quilt she had used as her sail. The experience drove her mad and she switched her attention from a few evil deeds to cause chaos and molest the minds and souls of all mankind. She would often vanish for centuries and then reappear to cause chaos during the darkest moments in human history.

   Thousands of years later Ombu tripped Moses when he came down Mount Sinai with the tables with God's Ten Commandments written on them.

   Another few thousand years later Ombu convinced Judas Iscariot to sell out Jesus Christ to the Romans.

   During the Middle Ages around the time the black plague ravaged Europe, Ombu made sure the black plague kept spreading by releasing rats in cities.

   She roamed Europe until the late 18th century when she settled in Latveria where she acquired her surname Doksi, which was Latverian for "commitment to excellence." During her time in Latveria she combined her knowledge of sorcery, evolution, human behavior and sewing to create life from the remains of the dead. The result was the dull-witted Huggerz, whom Ombu-Doksi sent into the village to kill indiscriminately. Huggerz' rampage was stopped by the local villagers and unfortunately drew attention to Ombu-Doksi, who was burned at the stake by the Latverians. During her execution her lips detached, rose into the sky and vanished with a triumphant cackle. Ombu-Doksi escaped to the Quasiverse, which was filled with other predatory beings. Ombu-Doksi sought shelter in an asteroid and sealed herself inside the rock after eating her way inside it and has not emerged since.

   Over time her body regrew and she created a portal crystal from the asteroid's silicon. Using the crystal she occasionally transferred her lips to the Earth dimension to continue sowing chaos among humanity.

(Suburban Jersey Ninja She-Devils#1 (fb) - BTS) - In the Quasiverse she formed alliances with the Vampyrions, the Thids and their queen Blossom. Thids regularly drew human souls into them and pre-digested them before returning them to Ombu-Doksi in a form she could consume.

(Suburban Jersey Ninja She-Devils#1) - In 1918 she convinced the bedridden Adolf Hitler that the Jews were responsible for Germany's defeat during World War I, which led to the persecution and attempted extermination of all Jews.

   In 1929 she influenced people on Wall Street to buy on margin, which ultimately led to the stock market crash.

   In 1990 she told Saddam Hussein that he deserved that 19th province down south, which led to Iraq's invasion of Kuwait.

   In 1991 she convinced Dmitry Yazov to just tell everyone that the president called in sick, which led to the temporary house arrest of Mikhail Gorbachev and the ill-fated attempt by the "Gang of Eight" to seize control over the country and stop Gorbachev's reforms.

(Suburban Jersey Ninja She-Devils#1) - Ombu-Doksi attempted an incursion of Earth through the secondary Nexus of Realities in Scarswell, New Jersey even though it was harder to cross than the primary Nexus in Florida, which she hated due to the smell.

   She sent Vampyrions to Earth to slaughter five-year old Weena Karlsson to draw the attention of Sensei Attila.

   Sensei Attila (Melba Slotnik) assembled her She-Devils to stop Ombu-Doksi from devouring the world, but they were attacked by a horde of Ombu-Doksi's Vampyrions. The She-Devils destroyed all but one Vampyrion, which was sent back to Ombu-Doksi by Melba with a warning for its mistress.

   Meanwhile in her extradimensional asteroid base Ombu-Doksi transferred her lying mouth through her portal crystal to the back of a client at the chiropractic clinic of Arthur Nordhoff, the husband of She-Devils member Holly. She claimed to Arthur that his wife was cheating on him and that she and her boyfriend had trashed his home in a fight. Ombu-Doksi told Arthur to head back home and confront his wife about it. As Ombu-Doksi had planned Arthur immediately cancelled all his appointments and headed back home. Even though she was delighted by how easy Arthur was to manipulate, she wasn't thrilled about the returning Vampyrion and without mercy devoured it for failing in causing the bloodbath she had desired.

   Ombu-Doksi kept watching Melba through the portal crystal and saw her calm down Arthur. Ombu-Doksi was glad to see that Melba was unaware of how great Ombu's powers had already grown. Ombu-Doksi then allowed Blossom and her Thids to proceed with their attack.

   While Melba and the She-Devils drove off, Arthur contacted Hiroshi Yakamura, the husband of She-Devils member Midge, to inform him that his wife would not be home for dinner. In return Hiroshi, who worked at Scarswell Cable, informed Arthur that for some reason all channels in the area broadcast whispering lips. He was unaware that they belonged to Ombu-Doksi.

(Suburban Jersey Ninja She-Devils#1 - BTS) - Blossom and the Thids attacked the car dealership of Jack Pollack, the husband of She-Devils member Phyllis. According to Ombu-Doksi's plan a member of the She-Devils (Midge) inhaled half-digested soul smutz. All Thids exploded after Melba slew Blossom. They left Jack, who had gone insane behind, and took Midge as fast as possible to Melba's ancient ally Madam Fogwa, who gave the She-Devils a history lesson on Ombu-Doksi. During Fogwa's attempt to save Midge from the edge of the psychosphere, Fogwa got bitten by Ombu-Doksi's ally Goat Looker, who managed to take possession of Fogwa and steal her portal crystal, which was Ombu-Doksi's plan all along. Goat Looker used to the portal crystal to open a portal to the Quasiverse.

(Suburban Jersey Ninja She-Devils#1) - Ombu-Doksi finally returned to the Earth dimension through Goat Looker's portal with her asteroid base, but the She-Devils formed a circle and created an intercontinental ballistic marzipan missile with Melba's mystic chant to blow the asteroid apart before it landed. Ombu-Doksi survived and used her tongue to hang from a tree to stop her fall, but quickly realized that she was outside and panicked due to her agoraphobia. She began to rampage, destroying the trees around her and Melba used the opportunity to run her Civic Honda into Ombu-Doksi's extended mouth. The car got stuck and Melba blew it up with marzipan fruit explosives, which blew apart Ombu-Doksi and the car at the same time. Her remains were later identified as lemur flesh by Chief Mitsubishi of the local police.

The one-shot was called Suburban Jersey Ninja She-Devils on the cover, but only Suburban She-Devils in the indicia. I tend to go with the indicia.

In the flashback to her time in Atlantis two barbarians reminiscent of Conan and Groo were seen fighting each other, but it couldn't be them because not only did the scene occur during the pre-Cataclysmic era, but it also showed both warriors dying. The artwork was still a pretty obvious nod to both of these characters.

This profile was completed on 11/23/2024 but its publication was delayed, as it was intended for the Appendix's 25th anniversary celebratory event.
