History:
(D.P.7 I#10) - Evan was a young comic book fan living at an orphange when he saw an Anti-Body belonging to Randy O'Brien fly across the sky, then collapse in the snow near the orphange. Evan ran outside to examine the Anti-Body. Needing its host to survive, the Anti-Body climbed inside of Evan. In doing so, it transferred some of its memories to Evan. Evan learned Randy O'Brien was the Anti-Body's owner but the Anti-Body couldn't find him and if it didn't locate him, it would perish. The orphange's Edna Twombly caught Evan outside in the snow and brought him inside to be punished but as she raised her hand to spank him, the Anti-Body's hand emerged and stopped her hand. Miss Twombly fled in fear and Evan thanked the "Shadowman" for helping him.
The next day, the Shadowman drove away two bullies who ambushed Evan while he was going to school. The Shadwoman wrote in the snow: "Dying! Need help to find host." Evan collected money for a bus ride to the Clinic for Paranormal Research, hoping to find Randy there before the Anti-Body perished. As they rode the bus to the Clinic, Evan could see Shadowman was beginning to turn grey and fuzzy so encouraged him to stay inside his body. When Evan asked aloud if the Shadowman liked him, the Shadowman's hand emerged from inside to give an 'okay' sign.
On December 2, 1986, Evan arrived at the Clinic and asked the receptionist to let him see Randy O'Brien. The director, Philip Nolan Voigt, came in response. Voigt, being a powerful paranormal, was aware Evan had Randy's Anti-Body and asked him to bring him forth. The Shadowman left Evan's body but before the Clinic's staff could bring it to Randy, it dissolved. Evan collapsed in tears; Voigt crouched down and comforted him.
(D.P.7 I#15 (fb)) - Curious about Evan's connection to the Anti-Body, Voigt had Evan remain at the Clinic for further study. However, when Voigt disappeared after a battle with Dave Landers and Randy O'Brien, Evan was left at the Clinic with no direction for his future. Randy had since revived and now wielded multiple Anti-Bodies; Evan had glimpsed an Anti-Body and believed his "Shadowman" was still alive.
(D.P.7 I#15) - As Evan huddled alone in his room at the Clinic, one of Randy's Anti-Bodies entered the room and Evan called him "Shadowman," acting as though they were best friends. Confused, the Anti-Body exited. Evan believed his "friend" would return, not realizing this Anti-Body had recently murdered a Clinic staff member and Randy was trying to destroy it.
Evan went to a class taught by Lenore Fenzl for the younger paranormals, including Joel Larson, Annie Stevenson and Scuzz. Scuzz had been considering forming a gang and kept trying to make Evan reveal his supposed parability. Evan was afraid if the others learned he wasn't a paranormal, he'd be sent away from the Clinic. When Lenore found Evan hadn't done the correct assignment and made him stay after class Evan was pleased as it meant he'd be able to avoid Scuzz. While going over a lesson about Latin with Evan, Lenore felt drawn to use her parability on him and raised part of her glove, exposing Evan to the light produced by her body. The light caused Evan to fall asleep while Lenore gained additional energy from the brief exposure. Lenore was disgusted at herself for giving in to the temptation and feared she might drain more energy from Evan. When Evan awoke a few moments later, Lenore sent him back to his room.
That night, Randy learned a hypnotic technique to expel the killer Anti-Body from his body permanently and believed now it would perish. However, the Anti-Body went to Evan's room; seeing that it appeared "fuzzy 'round the edges," he invited the killer Anti-Body to take up residence inside of him; the Anti-Body complied.
(D.P.7 I#16) - Scuzz assembled most of the teenage paranormals outside the Clinic as he invited each of them to show off their parabilities. Evan brought out his Shadowman by rhyming, "Shadowman, Shadowman, heart what I say! Shadowman, Shadowman, come out 'n' play!" Evan entered the Shadowman's body, altering its appearance with lightning bolt features, then flew around the grounds. Scuzz decided their gang would be called the DDTeens and told all the members to choose nicknames. Michael Crawley wanted to be called "Nuke" but Evan objected because there was already a Squadron Supreme member and a Daredevil villain who used those aliases. Scuzz agreed that they should have original aliases so Crawley chose "Dynamite" while Evan picked "Ghost-Driver."
The DDTeens went to the Clinic's cafeteria for dinner, when Mothball cajoled Scuzz into standing up to the Black Powers. Indigo assaulted Scuzz and made him cry. After dinner, Scuzz told the DDTeens they'd get revenge on the Black Powers and plotted an attack on them while they were dancing in one of the lounges. Evan used his Shadowman to scout the lounge before the attack, confirming all the Black Powers were in the same room. Annie used a sonic note to disorient them before the attack. Evan, inside Shadowman, attacked Bazooka. However, when Indigo grabbed Shadowman with an energy construct of a fist, Shadowman passed through the first by becoming intangible but Evan was left in Indigo's clutches. Charlotte finally stopped the fighting by sticking everyone to the floor. Shadowman returned to dwell inside of Evan.
(D.P.7 I#17) - The DDTeens started wearing matching outfits with denim jeans and jackets. All the patients were brought to an assembly held by Clinic director Tanis Newhouse, who ordered them to break up their special interest groups and return to their original therapy groups. A riot broke out and Scuzz ordered the DDTeens into the fight. Evan chose to flee the violence, exiting inside of Shadowman. The riot ended when Lenore Fenzl used her parability to paralyze everyone in the room.
(D.P.7 I#21) - On January 3, 1988, the DDTeens had a snow fight, with Quiver, Scuzz, Raindrop and their new member Squirm fighting against Ghost-Driver, Dynamite and Mothball. They were observed by Jensen, a journalist who had been brought to the Clinic by ex-employee Abner Heath to view where the bodies of the dead Clinic staffers Reinforcer and Receptor had been buried. While inside his Shadowman, Evan noticed Jensen and Heath and alerted Scuzz. When Scuzz saw Jensen taking photographs of them he realized the entire Clinic could be brought down. Scuzz decided the DDTeens should flee the Clinic and headed to Sheboygan, arriving on January 9, 1988 and inviting themselves into Stephanie Harrington's home as her new houseguests.
(D.P.7 I#23) - The DDTeens took up residence in the Harrington's basement but Stephanie's husband Chuck didn't enjoy hosting them. On April 24, 1988, Scuzz and Mothball got into a fight in the basement and Chuck ordered them to leave that evening. Stephanie brought them to the nearest bus station and waited with them for the bus. Stephanie was confronted at the bus station by Major Edward Zentner of the U.S. Army and Dave Landers, who had been drafted. Zentner tried to recruit Stephanie into the Army but Dave turned against him and knocked him out, then told the Harringtons to flee the country for Canada. Dave asked the DDTeens to help protect Stephanie and her family. Instead, Scuzz ordered the DDTeens back to the Harringtons' house, intending to squat there.
(D.P.7 I#25) - On June 2, 1988, Scuzz led the DDTeens to King Supermarket in Sheboygan and stole a load of groceries. One of the supermarket staff grabbed Evan as he ran but Shadowman drove off the staffer. Running to the Harringtons' station wagon, Scuzz drove them away but the supermarket staff called the police. A police car soon gave chase and Scuzz accidentally drove the station wagon off the road and down a cliffside. Shadowman went to protect Evan as the car crashed but Evan was badly injured. The police called an ambulance and paramedics arrived to pull Evan out of the wreck. Shadowman placed itself around Evan and flew to Major General Truscott Jr. Memorial Hospital, Georgia, to find Randy O'Brien. Shadowman delivered Evan's unconscious form to Randy then transferred its memories to Randy. Randy realized Shadowman was his "killer Anti-Body" but took care of Evan, saving his life. When the creature Famileech broke out of custody in the hospital's facility, Shadowman kissed Evan on the forehead as a farewell, then sacrificed itself to save Evan - but in the process showed Randy how he could use his Anti-Bodies in different ways.
(D.P.7 I#26) - After Evan had recovered, on August 4, 1988, Randy informed him his Shadowman had died saving him from the Famileech. Evan cried, saying, "He needed me... like I need him." To thank Evan for showing him how to use his Anti-Bodies in different ways, Randy gave one of his Anti-Bodies to Evan. Evan excitedly named him "Shadowman Two" and altered his appearance in the same way he had the previous Shadowman. Climbing inside his new Shadowman, Evan thanked Randy then flew off to find the DDTeens.

Unfortunately for Evan, two of the DDTeens (Mothball and Quiver) died in the car accident; Scuzz and Michael Crawley remained together but it wasn't revealed what became of Squirm and Raindrop. It's always possible Evan, Squirm and Raindrop stuck together.
We never did learn if Evan was a paranormal or not; a fan letter in D.P.7 I#26 suggested that Evan had the power to 'play' with other people's parability but hadn't applied it to other people's parabilities because he didn't realize he was a paranormal.
In Avengers I#314, Paul Ryan drew a boy in a crowd on Earth-616 who looked identical to Evan Huebner.

CLARIFICATIONS:
Ghost-Driver should not be confused with:

"Shadowman" was the nickname Evan Huebner gave to each of the three Anti-Bodies he partnered with. Each of the Anti-Bodies had been created by Randy O'Brien. The first Anti-Body had been separated from Randy after the C.I.A. captured Randy and brought him to the Clinic. The Anti-Body clung to Evan to help keep it alive but also prevented Evan from being spanked or tormented by bullies. Unfortunately the Anti-Body was not reunited with Randy in time to preserve its life and it dissolved at the Clinic.
The second Shadowman was responsible for murdering Dexter Charne. Upset at the "killer Anti-Body," Randy learned mental techniques to prevent it from entering his body without his permission. Randy believed it would die without him but instead it found Evan, who mistook it for the previous Shadowman he'd known. Evan invited it to stay with him and from then on was Evan's partner as he joined the DDTeens.
The second Shadowman remained with Evan and the DDTeens until the fateful crash June 2, 1988 in which Evan was badly injured. The Shadowman brought Evan to Randy to be treated and shared its memories with him. Randy saved Evan's life but the paranormal Famileech threatened patients at the hospital. Shadowman kissed Evan on the forehead then went to Randy, showing him how he could enter it just as Evan had. Shadowman then left Randy behind as it fought the Famileech but the Famileech dissolved Shadowman, destroying it. However, Shadowman's actions taught Randy how to better employ his Anti-Bodies and he used this knowledge to defeat the Famileech. Randy mused that the "killer Anti-Body" had given him a "new lease on life."
To thank Evan for showing him new ways of using his Anti-Bodies, Randy gave him another of his Anti-Bodies to keep. Evan named it "Shadowman Two" and gave it the same appearance he'd given the previous Shadowman, then flew back to Wisconsin to find the DDTeens.
Evan proved able to enter Shadowman's body and take control of its actions. While Evan was the "Ghost-Driver," he could fly and speak through the Anti-Body. However, if Shadowman attempted to become intangible it would have to leave Evan behind.
Evan liked to make Shadowman look "cool," giving it a pointed chin, pointed ears, slicked hair with a single stylized curl, and tiny lightning bolt designs meant to give the Shadowman the appearance of wearing boots and gloves.
