History:

(Giant-Size X-Men: Jean Grey and Emma Frost#1 - BTS) - When Charles Xavier and Magneto established the sovereign mutant nation of Krakoa, Kafka was one of the many mutants answering the call and came to live on Krakoa.

(Giant-Size X-Men: Jean Grey and Emma Frost#1) - Kafka was seen enjoying racing through the sky high above the island of Krakoa with his friend, a mutant that could thrust her body to be propelled through air (similar to Cannonball). But when the children noticed a sudden bolt of lightning they decided to investigate and found an unconscious Storm. Kafka and his friend quickly informed the X-Men.

(Black Panther VII#23/2) - When Storm brought the young South African Abeni to Krakoa she quickly befriended Kafka and the unidentified "Cannonball" girl.

(Immortal X-Men I#1) - Kafka and his friend the unidentified "Cannonball" girl were seen enjoying another mid-air chase.

(Immortal X-Men I#2) - When Krakoa came under attack by a dangerous Kaiju summoned by Selene, Kafka was one of the many mutants caught in its destructive path. Kafka was severely injured when part of his left wing was burned off, the young mutant was brought to safety by Hope.

(Bishop: War College I#5 - BTS) - Kafka was selected to join Krakoa's Captain Commander Bishop's War College program alongside D-Cel, Gimmick, Graymalkin and Specter. The teenagers became part of Bishop's second class whom he would train in combat and tactics to deal with the growing threats against Krakoa.

(Bishop: War College I#5) - Deciding to change tactics, Bishop instructed his new students to use their powers to attack him.

(Marvel Voices: Pride III#1/8) - Kafka and his War College team fought Transonic during a training session on Krakoa's beach where they were easily defeated by the powerful mutant. Although Kafka and his friends were disappointed, they didn't have long before being thrusted into another fight as the villainous Snot and Infestation had defected from Krakoa, causing havoc in New York's Central Park. Eager to proof herself, Gimmick asked to lead the team something which Bishop approved while keeping an eye on the team alongside Firestar. Upon arrival Gimmick posed as Bishop and distracted Snot and Infestation until the team was ready to strike when Graymalkin, Specter and D-Cell took on Snot, leaving Kafka and Gimmick to deal with Infestation who was releasing all kind of bugs and creepy crawlers from her body. Disgusted by the bugs, Kafka partly panicked while Gimmick wondered if he could talk to bugs, Kafka replied that although he could understand what the bugs said he didn't speak their language. Although Kafka didn't exactly attributed to the fight, Gimmick stopped Infestation from creating more bugs by attacking her. Figuring their time had come to flee, Infestation and Snot made a run for it, hijacking a cab while Kafka used his ability to fly to carry Gimmick while following the duo. The villainous duo, however, managed to escape the Krakoan's by entering the grounds of the Limbo Embassy whom had granted them amnesty which forbade Kafka and the others from apprehending them. Disappointed, Kafka and the others returned to Krakoa.

(X-Men Unlimited III#105) - From the Akademos Habitat on Krakoa, Kafka and D-Cel watched the psychic live feed of the third annual Hellfire Gala. Kafka was surprised when D-Cel's friend Juggernaut was elected to be part of the X-Men since he wasn't a mutant. D-Cell, however, was quick to note that Juggernaut had invested more in Krakoa than half of the mutants living there.

(Immortal X-Men I#14 (fb)) - When the third annual Hellfire Gala ended in total catastrophe when Orchis launched a successful attack on Krakoa, killing the newly selected X-Men and forcing Xavier to send all mutants through the Krakoan gates, presumably killing them, Kafka was one of the many mutants who left Krakoa through a gate.

(Immortal X-Men I#14) - Kafka found himself amongst a large group of Krakoans lost in what appeared to be a desert which in fact was the White Hot Room. The group of mutants were lead by Exodus and Hope.

(Immortal X-Men I#15) - While on their journey through the desert Kafka, Match, Skin and many other mutants watched as Exodus used his abilities to pull water from the desert to the surface. The mutants quickly quenched their thirst. Later that night Kafka talked with his friend, the tree-like mutant Phil who'd just finished his shift for the day. When Phil asked if he would march with him Kafka explained he was on patrol that night to fly ahead of the group to keep an eye out for any monsters. However when Kafka took flight he noticed a feral replica of Wolverine attacking Mother Righteous, the mere sight of the bloodthirsty replica caused Kafka to turn green after which he quickly warned Hope and Exodus. Moments later even more feral replicas of Wolverine appeared although Exodus easily disposed of them. With the threat at hand dealt with Kafka's skin reverted back to his normal brown color. The mysterious Mother Righteous arrived and showed the mutants the way to the Atlantic Krakoa, unaware they were trapped in the White Hot Room.

(Immortal X-Men I#16) - Kafka and his friend Phil were seen gardening while the surviving mutants formed a new society. Looking to gain more information on how to make the edible tubers grow better they visited Destiny who suggested to tend to them with love as they should cherish that which gives life.

(Immortal X-Men I#17) - Proud that he was able to improve the growth of the tubers, Kafka went to inform Destiny of his achievement but walked in while the treacherous Mother Righteous stabbed Destiny in the chest in an effort to murder her. Shocked, Kafka quickly fled away and warned Hope and Exodus. However, before they could act a large "forest" of thorns appeared, courtesy of Mother Righteous which forced Kafka to help Exodus and Hope save several mutants trapped within the "forest" of thorns.

Comments: Created by Jonathan Hickman and Russell Dauterman.

While Kafka was displayed as a teenager during both appearances as part of the War College (Bishop: War College I#5 and Marvel Voices: Pride III#1/8) he really is still just a young kid in all other appearances. His height and weight have been taken from when Kafka was seen standing next to Exodus in Immortal X-Men I#15.

Kafka is one of the many new mutants introduced during the Krakoan age, but one of the few who's been identified. Others include Abeni, Aphelion (Reed Fox), Markos Argyros, Bad Guy (Gabe), Brutha Nature (Jacob Williams), Aura Charles, Paulie DiCosta, Curse, D-Cel (Miranda Manuel), Leonara Eng, Escapade (Shela Sexton), Faceshopper (Soph), Fauna (Desmond Ochoa-Diaz), Fish, Galura (Gabrielle Diwa), Gimmick (Carmen Cruz), Good Arson (Rex Ridley), Harmonize (ZZ Phalen), Jellick, Jersey Devil (Joshua Engelhard), Julia, Kappa (Megan Ogawa), Kayla, Lash, Liana, Christopher O'Leary, Cam Long, Lost (Marinette), Phil, Pity Girl (Nora Kuang), Morgan Red, Rosie Rodriguez, Monica Sellers, Sights, Soft Serve, Somnus (Carl Valentino), Sonos Rex and Wrench.
