History:

(D.P.7 I#12 (fb)) - When the White Event occurred on July 22, 1986 (a brief flash of light caused by the Star Brand), Philip Nolan Voigt gained the parability to copy the parabilities of other paranormals. Believing he had been guided by the White Event to assemble an army of fellow paranormals, Voigt journeyed to the Sawyer Sanatorium, where his former pupil Dexter Charne was employed as a psychologist. As Charne was also a paranormal he agreed to assist Voigt with his goals and the two men combined their psychic abilities to take over the Sawyer Sanatorium, which Voigt renamed the Clinic for Paranormal Research.

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - The Clinic for Paranormal Research opened on July 27, 1986 with Philip Nolan Voigt as head administrator, Dexter Charne as clinical psychologist and Craig LaGraves as head of finances.

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - On July 29, 1986, Tracey Speck arrived at the Clinic. She was placed in Therapy Group A with Dexter Charne and recruited by Voigt to serve on the Clinic's staff. She took the alias "Receptor."

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - On July 30, 1986, Tanis Newhouse was hired as an administrator on the Clinic's staff. Voigt began placing ads for the Clinic in trade journals, popular psychology magazines and local newspapers, hoping to attract inquiries from paranormals.

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - On July 31, 1986, social worker Dr. Jane Semple was hired as a staff psychotherapist.

(Official Timeline of the New Universe) - On August 3, 1986, Voigt hired Rhoda Delk to be the Clinic's head nurse and authorized her to assemble a nursing staff.

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - On August 11, 1986, Harlan Hackbarth arrived at the Clinic. He was placed in Therapy Group A, where he took the alias "Regulator" and was also hired as the Clinic's head of security.

(Official Timeline of the New Universe) - On August 18, 1986, the Clinic officially began operations.

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - On August 19, 1986, Juris Ziegler was hired as a physical therapist at the Clinic. On the same day, Leland Sharp became a patient at the Clinic in Therapy Group A, taking the alias "Shrapnel."

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - On September 1, 1986, Geraldine Rumlow and Edward Zentner both arrived at the Clinic and were assigned to Therapy Group A. Rumlow was nicknamed "Vice Versa" and Zentner "Bloodhound."

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - On September 3, 1986, Arthur Benway became a patient at the Clinic, taking the alias "Freefall." He was assigned to Therapy Group B.

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - On September 5, 1986, Rodney Weigand became a patient at the Clinic, taking the alias "Tangler." He was assigned to Therapy Group B.

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - On September 6, 1986, Sally Gallagher became a patient at the Clinic, taking the alias "Shock." She was assigned to Therapy Group B.

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - On September 8, 1986, Deborah Brownlea became a patient at the Clinic, taking the alias "Dementia." She was assigned to Therapy Group B.

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - On Septmeber 9, 1986, Lenore Fenzl became a patient at the Clinic. She was assigned to Therapy Group B but chose to remain in seclusion.

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - On September 12, 1986, Voigt transferred Bloodhound, Shrapnel and Vice Versa out of Therapy Group A and assigned them as headhunters for the Clinic to forcibly bring paranormals to the Clinic. The three headhunters were headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

(Kickers, Inc. I#5 (fb)) - On September 13, 1986, Stephanie Harrington was brought to the Clinic by her husband Chuck to be examined by the Clinic's staff. After examining her, the Clinic's staff told Stephanie she required long-term therapy. Chuck signed commitment papers and told Stephanie not to return home until she was cured.

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - On September 16, 1986, Curtis Smith became a patient at the Clinic, taking the alias "Stalagmite." He was assigned to Therapy Group B.

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - On September 17, 1986, Martin Murken became a patient at the Clinic, taking the alias "Wormhole." He was assigned to Therapy Group B.

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - On September 18, 1986, George Mullaney became a patient at the Clinic, taking the alias "Mutator." He was assigned to Therapy Group D.

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - On September 21, 1986, Pamela Leighton became a patient at the Clinic, taking the alias "Interface." She was assigned to Therapy Group B.

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - On September 23, 1986, Stephanie Harrington was assigned to Therapy Group C.

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - On September 24, 1986, Dennis "Scuzz" Cuzinski became a patient at the Clinic after a recommendation from his high school guidance counselor. He was assigned to Therapy Group C.

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - On September 25, 1986, Charlotte Beck became a patient at the Clinic, after hearing about the facility from one of her professors at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She was assigned to Therapy Group C.

(Justice II#16 (fb) - BTS) - At some point, Lonnie Poole checked into the Clinic for assistance with recurring headaches. Poole had the parability to make women do whatever he wanted. He used his parability to charm his way out of the Clinic.

(D.P.7 I#1) - On September 26, 1986, Dave Landers and Randy O'Brien visited the Clinic using the aliases of "David Lawson" and "Randy O'Connell." Randy had seen an advertisement for the Clinic in the newspaper and wondered if they would be able to help him and Dave with their parabilities, but wanted to protect their identities. Just as they arrived, Dr. Jane Semple was seeing out Tommy Pommer, whose parents had thought he was a paranormal but Dr. Semple determined he wasn't. Randy and Dave met with Dr. Semple, who gave them a tour and explained the Clinic didn't offer a cure for its patients but did offer therapy to assist them in adjusting their lives around their parabilities. Both men tentatively agreed to try the Clinic out and were assigned to Therapy Group C.

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - On September 27, 1986, Jeff Walters became a patient at the Clinic. He was assigned to Therapy Group C.

(D.P.7 I#1) - On September 29, 1986, Therapy Group C's seven members met together for the first time, with Lenore Fenzl joining the group. The seven members explained to each other why they'd come to the Clinic and how their parabilities functioned. Unknown to them, Voigt, Charne, Speck and Hackbarth were secretly monitoring their sessions through video cameras and discussed the resources they would need to "indoctrinate" them. Voigt believed Therapy Group C was the most promising group the Clinic had yet recruited. Some time after this meeting, Dave Landers and Randy O'Brien shared their true identities with the Clinic's staff. The Clinic staff were already aware of their true identities.

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - On October 14, 1986, Terry Wilke became a patient at the Clinic, taking the alias "Thrust." He was assigned to Therapy Group D.

(D.P.7 I#1) - On October 19, 1986, Randy used his Anti-Body to spy on Charne, Speck and Hackbarth, discovering the three were all paranormals and using their parabilities to manipulate the Clinic's patients. Hackbarth knocked out Randy and attempted to cover-up what he'd learned but the Anti-Body had already shared what it had observed with the rest of Therapy Group C. Clinic security attempted to force them back to their rooms by threatening them with tranquilizer rifles but the group defeated the security team and rescued Randy from Hackbarth. Realizing they couldn't trust the Clinic, the seven of them fled the Clinic on foot.

(D.P.7 I#2) - On October 20, 1986, Voigt contacted the headhunters and ordered them to recapture the members of Therapy Group C. Speck used her parability to see through the eyes of the escaped patients to guide the headhunters to their location. Bloodhound, Shrapnel and Vice Versa caught up to the group members as they were attempting to reach Dave Landers' mobile home. The escaped patients defeated the three headhunters and continued on their way.

(D.P.7 I#3) - On October 21, 1986, the headhunters disguised themselves as police officers and attempted to catch the escaped patients as they fled on the road in Dave's truck and trailer. However, Randy's Anti-Body caused them go drive off the road and crash. Later, when Dave Landers and Jeff Walters escorted Stephanie Harrington to her home in Sheboygan, her husband Chuck immediately telephoned the Clinic to tell them where she was. The Clinic directed the headhunters to the Harrington home but the three patients overcame the headhunters and escaped again.

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - On November 2, 1986, Merriam Sorensen became a patient at the Clinic, taking the alias "Sponge." She was assigned to Therapy Group D.

(Kickers, Inc. I#5) - Also on November 2, 1986, the freelance heroes of Kickers, Inc. came to the Clinic after having met the escaped members of Therapy Group C. The Kickers wanted to learn if what they'd heard from the escapees about the Clinic was true. Voigt and Charne gave the Kickers a tour of the facility and placed subtle psychic pressure on them so that they'd return to the escapees and see them as threats that needed to be contained. The Clinic hoped to follow the Kickers to the location of the escapees but the escapees quickly bested the Kickers in a fight then fled, knowing the Clinic would soon be there.

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - On November 5, 1986, Dwight Frye became a patient at the Clinic, taking the alias "Bazooka." He was assigned to Therapy Group D.

(D.P.7 I#6) - On November 13, 1986, Voigt hired a mercenary team comprised of Bernard, Fraley, Lezar, Maiscott, Perricone, Price and West. Voigt held a briefing for the mercenaries at the Clinic, telling them about the seven members of Therapy Group C and their parabilities, then explaining how his headhunters had failed to recapture them. The mercenaries began purusing the escaped patients.

(D.P.7 I#7) - On December 4, 1986, with assistance from Speck, who helped locate the escaped patients, the mercenaries quickly began capturing their targets, including Scuzz, Charlotte Beck and Stephanie Harrington.

(D.P.7 I#8) - On December 5, 1986, Speck and Charne continued supplying directional assistance to the mercenaries, who recaptured Randy O'Brien, Jeff Walters and Lenore Fenzl, leaving only Dave Landers at large.

(D.P.7 I#9) - Charne, Hackbarth and Speck placed the recaptured Randy, Scuzz, Jeff, Charlotte, Stephanie and Lenore into dream-like states in an attempt to manipulate them and make them more pliable. In his mind, Randy believed he had never left the Clinic and found himself joining his therapy group members in a volleyball game against Therapy Group B. Randy eventually broke free of his conditioning and awoke but Hackbarth quickly put him to sleep again.

(D.P.7 I#10) - Voigt came to monitor Charne, Speck and Hackbarth's efforts to indoctrinate the six recaptured patients. Speck grew increasingly frustrated by the demands being placed on her and she finally told Voigt she quit the Clinic. However, when she tried to use her parability to look inside Voigt's mind, Voigt's own parabilities knocked her out and Voigt had Charne rewrite Speck's memories so she would forget she'd tried to quit. On December 9, 1986, Evan Huebner arrived the Clinic with Randy O'Brien's Anti-Body. When Voigt demanded Evan release the Anti-Body to him he complied, but the Anti-Body soon dissolved, having been separated from Randy for too long.

(D.P.7 I#15 (fb)) - Voigt decided to keep Evan at the Clinic under observation as he was interested in how Evan had interacted with Randy's Anti-Body.

(D.P.7 I#11) - In early March, 1987, Charne, Speck and Hackbarth attempted to brainwash Stephanie Harrington but she resisted their efforts and awoke. Hackbarth put her to sleep again and they made another attempt to indoctrinate her through her dreams. However, she continued to resist them and Hackbarth angrily tried to kill her. To stop Hackbarth, Charne used his parability to shut down Stephanie's brain but the feedback put Hackbarth into a coma.

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - With Hackbarth in a coma, Orville Upham was promoted to head of security. On February 28, 1987, John Rost became a patient at the Clinic, taking the alias "Scrap Iron." He was assigned to Therapy Group D.

(D.P.7 I#12) - The mercenaries finally captured Dave Landers and delivered him to the Clinic. Voigt paid off the mercenaries and they departed. Therapy Group C resumed meeting with Dr. Semple as Fenzl, Walters, Beck and Scuzz had all completed their indoctrination. All four had had their memories altered to forget what they'd learned about the Clinic's secret purposes. Charne and Speck attempted to continue Stephanie's indoctrination but they found even in a coma her mind was in opposition to their control. When Speck and Charne attempted to start Landers' indoctrination, they made contact with a mental block placed in his mind by the ESPeople, which knocked out both of them. Landers awoke and quickly revived Randy then attempted to convince the rest of Therapy Group C to accompany them in escaping, but the four who had been brainwashed refused to leave the Clinic. Landers and O'Brien went to check on Stephanie but were confronted by Voigt, who revealed to them his own parability and his intent to form a paranormal army at the Clinic. Randy and Dave fought Voigt, who manifested a large Anti-Body that he climbed inside of; when Dave seemed to destroy the Anti-Body, there was no trace left of Voigt.

(D.P.7 I#13) - Randy and Dave informed Dr. Semple of their confrontation with Voigt. Dr. Semple gathered the Clinic's leadership together to discuss what would happen in Voigt's absence. Dr. Semple nominated Craig LaGraves as the interim director of the Clinic. Dexter Charne insisted he had worked more closely with Voigt than any of them and as director he'd ensure continuity by not reversing any of Voigt's policy decisions. However, the majority of staff voted in favor of LaGraves. Irate at being overlooked, Charne gave LaGraves a stroke then tried to frame Dr. Semple for making an attempt on his life. When Dave and Randy confronted Charne and Speck the fight soon turned deadly and Charne accidentally killed Speck with a wild bullet from his gun. Randy's Anti-Body slew Charne. As Tanis Newhouse was now left to become interim director of the Clinic, she wondered how to conceal the two murders that had just occurred.

(D.P.7 I#21 (fb) - BTS) - Director Newhouse decided to bury Charne and Speck's bodies on the Clinic's grounds, afraid of what would happen if the Clinic were placed under a criminal investigation.

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - On May 6, 1987, Jim Walkins became a patient at the Clinic, taking the alias "Squirm." He was assigned to Therapy Group D.

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - On May 10, 1987, Dionne McQuaid became a patient at the Clinic, taking the alias "Indigo." She was assigned to Therapy Group E.

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - On May 18, 1987, Annie Stevenson became a patient at the Clinic. She was assigned to Therapy Group E.

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - On May 25, 1987, Ross Wexler became a patient at the Clinic, taking the alias "Chill." He was assigned to Therapy Group E.

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - On June 18, 1987, Lionel Berry became a patient at the Clinic, taking the alias "Blindspot." He was assigned to Therapy Group E.

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - On July 9, 1987, Heather Hanneman became a patient at the Clinic. She was assigned to Therapy Group E.

(D.P.7 I#21 (fb) - BTS) - Budget cuts forced director Newhouse to fire security guard Abner Heath. In exchange for a healthy severance check, Heath signed a pledge of confidentiality to protect the Clinic's secrets.

(D.P.7 I#14) - On July 20, 1987, director Newhouse began assigning temporary staff positions to each of the capable adult patients as the Clinic had lost several staff members. Charlotte Beck became one of the Clinic's receptionists while Dave Landers was assigned to maintenance. Randy O'Brien underwent one-on-one therapy with Dr. Semple, concerned about the Anti-Body who had killed Charne. Wanting more representation and personal advocacy, several Black patients at the Clinic assembled their own informal group, the Black Powers, led by Indigo and initially including Chill, Blindspot, Squirm and Charlotte Beck. On July 21, 1987, the Black Powers attacked Freefall and Tangler, who had just been assigned as security guards; after beating both men, the Black Powers started a fight in the Clinic's gym against Randy O'Brien but Jeff Walters helped halt the violence.

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - On September 1, 1987, Joel Larson became a patient at the Clinic. He was assigned to Therapy Group E.

(D.P.7 I#15) - Patients Pamela Leighton and Jeff Walters were revealed to have been assigned to the Clinic's cafeteria. Lenore had begun running a classroom for the younger patients Evan Huebner, Scuzz, Annie Stevenson and Joel Larson. Bazooka joined the Black Powers while Freefall and Tangler continued to recuperate from the beating they received. Juris Ziegler noticed Lenore Fenzl's body was become younger and fitter as she used her parability to take energy from others and he flirted with her.

(D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic) - In the aftermath of the Black Powers' latest fight, security chief Upham quit working for the Clinic.

(Psi-Force I#15) - On September 16, 1987, Michael Crawley came to the Clinic and director Newhouse and Juris Ziegler helped assess him, quickly realizing he was a paranormal. When they placed Crawley in an MRI machine, Crawley became anxious and used his parability to break out of the lab. Dave Landers and Scuzz tried to force Crawley to return but he fled the grounds. Later, after falling in with a gang of criminals, Crawley accepted help from Landers, Scuzz, Randy O'Brien and Jeff Walters, who convinced him to return to the Clinic.

(D.P.7 I#16) - Dave Landers and Curtis Smith were reassigned from maintenance to security. Inspired by the Black Powers, Scuzz formed a gang among the other juvenile patients, including Evan Huebner, Michael Crawley, Annie Stevenson, Joel Larson and Heather Hanneman, calling themselves the DDTeens. Scuzz notified Dr. Semple he was quitting Therapy Group C. In an attempt to look strong in front of the DDTeens in the cafeteria, Scuzz tried to invite Charlotte Beck to quit the Black Powers and join their gang but Indigo violently drove him away. Scuzz resolved to start a fight with the Black Powers in one of the Clinic's lounges. Joel refused to join the other DDTeens and instead brought Dave Landers to help break up the fight.

(Justice II#16) - Charlotte Beck began having vivid dreams of John Tensen and used the Clinic's resources to investigate him, learning his victim Lonnie Poole had briefly been a patient at the Clinic. She also questioned Dr. Guntly, who was a friend of the Clinic's Dr. John Forrestor.

(D.P.7 I#17) - Scrap Iron and Bazooka got into a fight in the Clinic's gym and wound up causing considerable damage before Dave Landers and Curtis Smith forced them to calm down then took them to face director Newhouse, who promised they'd pay restitutions for the damage they'd caused. Newhouse asked Landers for advice, believing the Clinic had become a pressure cooker. She noted Kleinschmidt and Supina had both resigned that morning, declaring the Clinic was "too hazardous." Newhouse didn't want to expel any of the Clinic's troublemakers because it would be an admission of failure on the Clinic's purported mission. Landers suggested they should break up the gangs that had formed at the Clinic and Newhouse agreed, deciding to hold a general assembly to that effect. At the same time, Sally Gallagher had started a women's group at the Clinic that included Deborah Brownlea, Merriam Sorensen and Pamela Leighton.

Freefall and Tangler completed their recuperation and began striking back against the Black Powers, murdering Blindspot and Chill. The other Black Powers resolved that at the general assembly they'd attempt to kill Freefall and Tangler but the two men struck first, attempting to kill Squirm. Most of the patients attended the general assembly and director Newhouse informed them they would be reinstating many of the security measures that had lapsed since Voigt's exit. She promised to expel any patients who indulged in violence or vandalism then ordered all the special interest groups at the Clinic to dissolve and all patients return to their assigned therapy groups. All of the special interest groups were angry at that declaration. When Bazooka attempted to kill Tangler at that moment, a riot broke out between all of the patients. It was finally halted by Lenore Fenzl, who used her parability to tranquilize everyone in the room.

(D.P.7 I#18) - Tangler and Freefall fled the Clinic after the riot, fearing another reprisal from the Black Powers. On December 23, 1987, Jeff Walters saw news on television about the destruction of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and raced out of the Clinic, realizing his family had been present at the time of the explosion. Only Mutator saw Jeff leave the Clinic. Patients injured during the riot including Squirm, Indigo, Bazooka and Scuzz were still being treated in the Clinic's infirmary by Randy O'Brien. That night, Indigo snuck out of the infirmary and attempted to kill Charlotte in her quarters but Randy helped rescue her. The next day, Jeff's friends realized he'd left the Clinic and resolved to go in search of him. Dave, Randy, Charlotte, Lenore and Merriam Sorensen departed the Clinic in Dave's Winnebago to find Jeff; Mutator snuck aboard the Winnebago to assist them.

(D.P.7 I#19) - Chuck Harrington came to visit his wife Stephanie, who recovered from her coma and subsequently left the Clinic to resume living with him in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

(D.P.7 I#21) - On January 3, 1988, former security guard Abner Heath brought his journalist friend Jensen to where the bodies of Charne and Speck had been buried on the Clinic's grounds. Seeing members of the DDTeens playing in the snow while using their parabilities, Jensen photographed them. Scuzz realized Jensen and Heath could bring in outsiders who would cause problems but rather than face discipline from the Clinic, Scuzz opted to runaway, taking all of the DDTeens to Sheboygan so they could reside with Stephanie and her family.

The following day, the county sheriff launched an investigation of the Clinic and brought a team of 16 deputies with him to inspect the premises. While Newhouse tried to put on a professional, dignified air, the patients were given no advance warning. When one of the deputies came across Indigo and Bazooka and drew his weapon, Bazooka killed the deputy. Soon the deputies began to panick and started opening fire on the patients and staff, placing the entire facility under siege. The patients joined forces against the deputies and fought back using their parabilities. In the resulting carnage, most of the deputies were killed. Indigo was also among the dead; Interface, Shock, Thrust and Juris Ziegler were all wounded, although it wasn't revealed if any of these were fatal wounds. In the wake of this catastrophe, Newhouse realized the Clinic would have to be permanently closed.

The Clinic had a four-page profile in D.P.7 I#19 with all the identified staff and patients at the time and a two-page profile in D.P.7 I#20 with schematics of the facility.

Only two of the therapy groups were depicted together - although since all of the identified patients seen at the Clinic in Kickers, Inc. I#5 belonged to Therapy Group D, that seems to be a depiction of that group. Almost everything we know about the therapy groups comes from the Clinic profile in D.P.7 I#19.

In D.P.7 I#28, Voigt announced he intended to reopen the Clinic after becoming President; we don't know if he ever made good on that.

In Randy's dream in D.P.7 I#9, there was a Clinic cafeteria worker named Mort but it wasn't verified whether he was a Clinic employee outside of the dream.

The Clinic's Earth-15731 counterpart appeared in Exiles I#72.

--D.P.7 I#13

ABNER HEATH

Abner Heath was a member of the Clinic's security team until budget cuts forced director Newhouse to fire him in mid-1987. Although he signed a pledge of confidentiality for a healthy severance check, Heath wound up leaking the location of Dexter Charne and Tracey Speck's coffins to his reporter friend Jensen. Heath brought him to where the coffins had been buried and started to unearth them when the DDTeens happened to come by, having a snowball fight while using their parabilities. Jensen and Heath brought what they knew to the county sheriff's office, which started an investigation into the Clinic that resulted in the sheriff's deputies laying siege to the facility, with many deputies and Clinic patients killed; this caused the Clinic to be permanently shut down.

--D.P.7 I#21

KENDALL

Kendall was a nurse at the Clinic. He was responsible for preparing the IV lines for patients being indoctrinated by Hackbarth, Charne and Speck, including Randy O'Brien and Dave Landers. When Landers was brought in, Kendall noted he had been subjected to so much sedative that he wasn't certain what the correct dosage was for him.

ORVILLE UPHAM

Orville Upham was a member of the Clinic's security force. When head of security Harlan Hackbarth was placed into a coma, Upham was promoted to head of security. After Philip Nolan Voigt's disappearance, Upham was one of the only Clinic staff members who didn't vote for Craig LaGraves to be the interim director. When Charne tried to implicate Dr. Semple in an attempt on Craig LaGraves' life, Orville listened sympathetically. After a fight between the Black Powers and Randy O'Brien, Upham quit his job at the Clinic.

THERAPY GROUP A

Therapy Group A was the first group of patients at the Clinic and consisted of Bloodhound (Edward Zentner), Receptor, Regulator, Reinforcer (Dexter Charne), Shrapnel (Leland Sharp) and Vice Versa (Geraldine Rumlow). All of the members were soon graduated from the therapy group to assume roles in Voigt's plans, with Receptor, Regulator and Reinforcer serving as Voigt's chief lieutenants at the facility while Bloodhound, Shrapnel and Vice Versa went to work as headhunters.

--D.P.7 I#19/The Clinic

THERAPY GROUP B

Therapy Group B consisted of Dementia (Deborah Brownlea), Freefall (Arthur Benway), Interface (Pamela Leighton), Shock (Sally Gallagher), Stalagmite (Curtis Smith), Tangler (Rodney Weigand) and Wormhole (Martin Murken). Lenore Fenzl was initially assigned to this group but she elected to join Therapy Group C instead. Therapy Group B seemed to be one of the closer-knit groups. After the Black Powers formed, their members Freefall and Tangler were beaten up by the Black Powers. Subsequently, when Shock, Stalagmite and Wormhole were sitting together in the Clinic's cafeteria, the Black Powers forced them to give up their table. Wormhole hoped to strike back at the Black Powers once their group was back at full strength. However, Shock subsequently formed her own women's group which Dementia and Interface joined. The remaining four, Freefall, Tangler, Stalagmite and Wormhole, attended the Clinic's assembly together but when Tanis Newhouse told them to break up their special interest groups a riot broke out; Freefall and Tangler fled the Clinic to save their lives. The other members of Therapy Group B were still at the Clinic when it was closed down permanently.

THERAPY GROUP C

Therapy Group C consisted of Charlotte Beck, Lenore Fenzl, Stephanie Harrington, Dave Landers, Randy O'Brien, Scuzz (Dennis Cuzinski) and Jeff Walters. Dr. Jane Semple was their assigned therapist. Therapy Group C met for the first time on On September 29, 1986 and its seven members formed a strong bond with each other. On October 19, 1986, Randy O'Brien discovered the Clinic was secretly performing experiments on the patients and the other group members were alerted. After fighting off Regulator, the seven of them fled from the Clinic that same night and went on the run. They were eventually captured by mercenarhies hired by Voigt and underwent brainwashing at the hands of Receptor, Reinforcer and Regulator to make them think they'd been tricked by Randy into leaving the Clinic; only Beck, Fenzl, Scuzz and Walters were successfully brainwashed and its effects gradually faded. While Stephanie was rendered comatose after a fight with Regulator, the other six continued to meet together at the Clinic, until Beck quit to join the Black Powers and Scuzz quit to become leader of the DDTeens. Finally, Beck, Fenzl, Landers and O'Brien left the Clinic on December 24, 1987 to retrieve Jeff Walters from the Pitt; during their absence, the Clinic was closed down.
