History:

(Extraordinary X-Men I#1 - BTS) - During the height of the M-Pox crisis, when the Terrigen Mist released by the Inhumans was poisoning Earth's atmosphere and killing or sterilizing mutants, Mister Sinister assembled a new squad of Marauders. Azimuth was recruited alongside Aries, Chimera and Coda to help locate and secure mutant specimens for Sinister's experiments to create a genetically superior mutant capable of surviving the Mist. Nightcrawler was one such target.

(Extraordinary X-Men I#1) - Azimuth took part in the ambush on Nightcrawler in the sewers. After Aries was dropped onto Chimera by Nightcrawler's teleportation tactic, Azimuth used her mutant power to open what resembled a black hole-like vortex from her mouth, pulling Nightcrawler toward her. Once close enough, she punched him unconscious. Azimuth stood beside Aries, Chimera, and Coda as Aries hoisted Nightcrawler's limp body. Coda remarked that her “mouth thing” was creepy.

(Extraordinary X-Men I#2 (fb) - BTS) - Azimuth stood guard alongside Coda, Aries, and Chimera in the Manhattan sewers, where Mister Sinister had hidden his laboratory.

(Extraordinary X-Men I#2) - When Colossus and Magik arrived to search for their missing teammate Nightcrawler, Azimuth emerged from the shadows to challenge Magik, initially mocking her with a smile and referring to the two-on-one fight as unfair. When Magik offered her Soulsword in response, Azimuth tried to draw her in, but was swiftly struck down by the blade, her powers overwhelmed. Her unconscious body was later seen as Sinister arrived to confront the Rasputin siblings, easily defeating both X-Men moments later.

(Extraordinary X-Men I#4) - Azimuth remained present in the lab during Sinister's grotesque experiment on Mammomax, who was being subjected to the Terrigen Mist. The three imprisoned X-Men watched in horror as Mammomax seemingly melted away after his exposure to the mists.

Later that evening when Storm and her strike team stormed the facility, Azimuth joined the other Marauders in battle. She fought fiercely, but was no match for Jean Grey, who engaged her telepathically. Jean described Azimuth's mind as "a black hole," but ultimately found her psychic center and subdued her with a mental command to sleep. Azimuth collapsed mid-fight and remained unconscious for the rest of the conflict. After their defeat, Sinister revealed a cloned version of the presumed-dead Cyclops, mutated through Terrigen experimentation to attack the heroes with.

(Extraordinary X-Men I#5 (fb) - BTS) - S.H.I.E.L.D. coordinated the pickup and detention of Sinister and the Marauders, resulting in Aries, Azimuth, Chimera, and Coda being taken into custody following their defeat.

(Deadpool v Gambit#4 (fb)) - Azimuth joined a supervillain support group where he met other superhuman criminals Scrambler (Kim Il Sung), Stinger, Vindaloo (Venkat Katragadda) and X-Ray (James Darnell).

(Deadpool v Gambit#3) - Scrambler hosted a BBQ-party for his friends: several well-known superhuman criminals like Absorbing Man, Azimuth, Boomerang, Scalphunter, Stinger, Vindaloo and X-Ray.

(Deadpool v Gambit#4) - Azimuth and the others enjoyed the BBQ.

(Deadpool v Gambit#3) - During the party, Deadpool and Gambit showed up to apprehend Scrambler. But seeing the heroes, the superhuman criminals immediately engaged the heroes providing Scrambler an opportunity to flee. Gambit and Deadpool were unable to follow Scrambler when Fat Cobra suddenly appeared.

Comments: Created by Jeff Lemire, Humberto Ramos, and Victor Olazaba.

When Extraordinary X-Men came out I was beyond excited Jeff Lemire had Mr. Sinister pick out a new group of Marauders as Culen Bunn, writer of the Magneto ongoing series, a year prior, had given the original Marauders a new purpose. After 28 years, the Marauders were finally more than Mr. Sinister's cloned cronies, having Lemire respect this storytelling was so cool to me.

Azimuth's codename refers to the navigational term "azimuth," which denotes direction or angular measurement in the horizontal plane. The choice is ironic, as her mutant power annihilates direction and spatial orientation altogether, her mouth becomes a gravitational singularity that consumes everything around her, erasing any fixed point of reference.
