First Appearance: S.H.I.E.L.D. III#12 (January, 2016; see comments)

Powers/Abilities: The Scarlet Centurion ages much more slowly than modern humanity.

    He is an expert in travel through and manipulation of time, and has mastered various far-future technologies, notably regarding time travel.

    He is a master manipulator, a natural leader, a gifted strategist and a skilled combat veteran.

    His time travel mechanisms enable him to travel through time, possibly taking passengers or cargo with him, and he can likely remotely beam “chronographic projections” (interactive transtemporal holograms) of himself into other time periods and locations, enabling him to communicate with people there.

    The Centurion wears battle armor incorporating various far-future technologies. He can certainly project energy blasts and throw off a number of superhumanly strong Asgardian warriors. He can appear in even mystical realms such as Asgard without being detected, at least for a few seconds, and he can similarly disappear and prevent others from tracking him.

    He wields a sword powerful enough to slay Odin Borson.

    It is unrevealed whether his armor possesses abilities demonstrated by other Scarlet Centurion counterparts, such as subtle hypnotic devices (including a subliminally mesmerizing aura and voice modulators capable of subliminally influencing his listeners); a mind-influencing device able to implant powerful suggestions in the minds of his foes; sleep-inducing devices able to render his targets unconscious within moments; ice generators (able to encase a man in ice within seconds), concussive force blasters (strong enough to stun Thor on their highest setting); hard radiation emitters, magnetic force manipulators; electrical blasters; and a near-impenetrable force field.

The Scarlet Centurion's physical stats are unrevealed, but assuming he is a divergent version of Nathaniel Richards-6311, they would bescarlet_centurion-on-16112-stab-odin

History: See comments

(S.H.I.E.L.D. III#12) - The Scarlet Centurion traveled to the future of reality-16112 following Ragnarok, the twilight of the Gods, which was now bereft of both gods and men. Feeling a prideful compulsion to be more than just a witness to this reality, he resolved to be the cause of Ragnarok, and he traveled back in time to do so.

    Materializing behind Odin, the Scarlet Centurion fatally stabbed him through the chest with his sword.

(S.H.I.E.L.D. III#12 (fb) - BTS) - Assessing Odin's killer as human, the Asgardians assaulted Earth, slaughtering all of its super heroes.

(S.H.I.E.L.D. III#12 - BTS) - Phil Coulson of S.H.I.E.L.D., called upon Asgard's guardian, Heimdall, calling in a debt from him for having recovered his sword during the War of the Realms.

    Heimdall agreed to transport Coulson and his fellow S.H.I.E.L.D. agents to Asgard's recent past, prior to Odin's assassionation, and they prevented the Scarlet Centurion from killing Odin, diverging Reality-616 from Reality-16112, in which the Scarlet Centurion was successful.

Time Travel is complicated and confusing.

The whole Rama-Tut/Scarlet Centurion/Kang/Immortus/Iron Lad deal is pretty complicated. Essentially, they -- for the most part -- started out as the same being, Nathaniel Richards of Earth-6311 in the 31st century of that world's calendar (see the Earth-6311 profile for discussion on that, but he is a descendant of an incarnation of Reed Richards' father).

After traveling back in time, Nathaniel Richards-6311 diverged into numerous temporal counterparts. As they originated from the same being from the same reality, I designate them only by the reality in which they were active, rather than the reality in which they were from. This is covered in great detail in the Rama-Tut, Immortus, and Scarlet Centurion (the one active on Earth-712) profiles.

The Scarlet Centurion featured in this profile presumably diverged off from this Richards at some point, but it is also possible that he was/is Marcus Kang (or a divergent version) or that another being usurped his role/title/armor, as we have seen in the Council of Cross-Time Kangs.

The Squadron Supreme: Death of a Universe story told an ending and failure of the Scarlet Centurion. As there is no information to support OR refute this Scarlet Centurion from being that Scarlet Centurion or any other previous incarnation, I prefer to think of it as a different incarnation.

This Scarlet Centuron's costume was certainly different than the Kang-divergent Scarlet Centurions we have seen thus far, with a blue Kang-esque fully covering his face...his appearance was virtually identical to the Marcus Kang Scarlet Centurion. Intentional, or just artistic license/image reference confusion?...the world may never know!

Beyond that, something had presumably led to the Ragnarok the Scarlet Centurion sought out before he traveled to view it and then become its architect...or was it him all along and he didn't realize it until he did it? I'm not assigning any alternate reality for the "original" cause of this Ragnarok, as it is uncertain to me that it wasn't the Scarlet Centurion.

And then...the Scarlet Centurion subdued by Odin in Reality-616 is diverged from the Scarlet Centurion who successfully engineered Ragnarok and the slaughter of humanity in Reality-16112.

Since we don't know for certain that he is a divergent Nathaniel Richards and, if so, at what point he diverged, I have not included other counterparts' allies and enemies, as it adds a lot of questionable text/clutter. However, if he is a divergent Nathaniel Richads-6311, then his statswould include:

 Known Relatives:   Ramades (son);
    presumably unidentified parents;
    John, Laura, Nathaniel and Cassandra Richards, Nathaniel Richards Jr., and Nedra, matriarch of the Eyriennes (ancestors);
    Tara (Huntara), Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Franklin and Valeria Richards, extended Richards family, Brigit & various Eyriennes (common ancestry);
    Victor von Doom (alleged ancestor); Kristoff Vernard (alleged common ancestry);
    Kang, Immortus, Iron Lad, Rama-Tut and numerous other alternate reality counterparts and their offspring

Occupation: Former Pharaoh, adventurer, scholar

Aliases: Formerly King of Kings, Master of Men, Lord of the Seven Suns, Rama-Tut, "the visitor from beyond the sun" (alleged translation of Rama-Tut); possibly Iron Lad (see comments)

Base of Operations: formerly Egypt, circa 2950-2940 BC;
    formerly Earth-6311/Other-Earth, 31st century (Other-Earth calendar)

Earth-16112 Scarlet Centurion slew Odin and disappeared, leading Asgardians to slaughter Earth's heroes; S.H.I.E.L.D. agents traveled to Asgard and stopped Centurion from slaying Odin, diverging Earth-616 from this reality. S.H.I.E.L.D. #12 (2016)
