History:

(X-Men Unlimited II#4/2 (fb) - BTS) - A preppy young adolescent, Dough Hutchinson attended college where he met and befriended Emma Frost. Their friendship was a close one since both of them were mutants which was a secret at the time. Frost developed a crush on Dough until she introduced her best friend Maddy Vandervalk to him, the following day Maddy was all over Doug like cheap perfume as Frost put it.

(X-Men Unlimited II#4/2 (fb) - BTS) - Even after entering a relationship with Maddy, Doug kept his mutant-nature a secret. This, however, wasn't the only secret Doug kept from Maddy as he had an affair with Frost who'd developed romantic feelings for him. Frost promised to never reveal any of his secrets to the world.

(X-Men Unlimited II#4/2 - BTS) - Years later, Doug and Maddy decided to get married. During the wedding-preparations Doug also invited Emma Frost, telling his fiancee he'd felt sorry for the woman.

(X-Men Unlimited II#4/2) - Doug and Maddy married in prestigious church surrounded by their friends, family and high placed socialites, businessmen and X-Men Emma Frost and Wolverine. During the subsequent party Doug and Maddy were showered in compliments by their friends. Noticing Frost's friend Wolverine had been escorted outside by Trevor and some friends Doug decided to go and talk to Emma. However, instead of exchanging pleasantries Doug just wanted to know if Emma had kept their affair and his mutant-nature a secret after which he told Frost he wanted to make a fresh start in life, annoyed, Frost assured Doug she knew how to keep secrets and returned to Wolverine who'd just returned to the party.

Sometime later during the evening Doug's friend Drew took to the stage to surprise the newly weds with a speech. Making fun at Emma's expense by calling her the "problem" the newly weds had to face in their relationship. Surprised her past was so bluntly smeared all over the stage for the enjoyment of others Emma decided to take to the stage herself. Doug and Maddy watched as Emma proposed a toast calling Maddy was a woman ahead of her time, not merely a friend of mutants but having just married one. With the newly weds and their guests in total shock, Emma raised her glass to Mr. and Mrs. Mutant after which she left the stage causing the crowd to go silent while Doug stumbled, realizing his secret was now out.
