Powers/Abilities: Each of those who made up the Forgotten possessed some degree of mystic abilities, allowing the collective Forgotten to cast complex spells and, using certain magic artifacts, could potentially even cast spells strong enough to release a location from a temporal anchoring place. As the Forgotten absorbed or acquired magic items, its collective power increased and it was capable of easily fighting off groups of Sorcerers Supreme. When in its gestalt form, the various personalities that made up its form could assume control of the gestalt form if needed and certain spells have split the form into the collective bodies that made its gestalt form up.

History: (Doctor Strange & the Sorcerers Supreme I#1 (fb) - BTS) - The mystic collective later known as the Forgotten was unleashed by the Empirikul. As the Forgotten absorbed mystic relics and beings into itself, the darkness of its magic spread backwards through time, eventually infecting mystic beings as far back as 507 A.D.

(Doctor Strange & the Sorcerers Supreme I#4 (fb)) - Over time, the Forgotten's magic infected sorcerers who discovered seeming magic they didn't understand, drawing them all to the Word of God, an ancient mystic tome of secretly alien technology that eluded the Forgotten's grasp.

(Doctor Strange & the Sorcerers Supreme I#8 (fb)) - After mystics decoded the Word of God's technology, they realized that words from the tome had to be used sparingly or risk awakening the Author of the Word of God himself but those who did read aloud from the tome eventually went mad and became infected by the Forgotten's magic, forcing them to join the mystic collective that secretly served the Author.

(Doctor Strange & the Sorcerers Supreme I#1 (fb)) - Feeling as if these infected beings were evil incarnate, Merlin began locking any he found away in cages. When Merlin attempted to lock away XII, his apprentice Bohra revealed himself to be part of the Forgotten as VIII and Merlin revealed Bohra's true form with a spell and ultimately locked up both XII and VIII. King Arthur later warned Merlin that he couldn't kill all of the infected beings and Merlin agreed, noting that while he couldn't kill them, he could lock them away forever so they would be forgotten.

(Doctor Strange & the Sorcerers Supreme I#3 (fb) - BTS) - Merlin ultimately ended up locking away dozens of seemingly innocent users of darker magic that had been corrupted and absorbed by the Forgotten.

(Doctor Strange & the Sorcerers Supreme I#4 (fb) - BTS) - After 1950s magic user Joao was infected by the Forgotten and traveled to Merlin's time period in Camelot, Merlin locked Joao away with the others corrupted by the Forgotten.

(Doctor Strange & the Sorcerers Supreme I#4 (fb)) - Merlin continued hunting down magic users corrupted by the Forgotten and locking them away in a prison that was protected by Merlin's magic. Over time, Merlin's mystic sigils became corrosive to the Forgotten and all who were locked away began merging into a single, collective entity.

(Doctor Strange & the Sorcerers Supreme I#1 (fb) - BTS) - The time-traveling Merlin recruited Sorcerers Supreme from throughout time to combat the threat of the Forgotten, sending them into several battles while not actually finding the collective Forgotten.

(Doctor Strange & the Sorcerers Supreme I#1) - Merlin traveled to the present day to recruit Earth's Sorcerer Supreme, Dr. Strange, informing Strange that the Forgotten was a monster unleashed by the Empirikul, who had destroyed present-day magic. Further explaining how the Forgotten was absorbing and collecting mystic relics into itself, Merlin admitted that he didn't know why the Forgotten was collecting in such a way, only that it was evil incarnate and must be destroyed. Merlin then brought Dr. Strange into a battle between other recruited Sorcerers Supreme and the Forgotten's "beast men," warning the other Sorcerers Supreme that the Forgotten were coming. Despite some of the Sorcerers Supreme being skeptical that the Forgotten was actually anywhere nearby, Demon Rider sensed something underground following the battle and Merlin managed to inform her that she was sensing the Forgotten mere moments before a giant, gestalt Forgotten being erupted from the ground, announcing its pleasure on seeing his "old friend" Merlin again. Having acquired the mystic Shield of Endless Misery, the Forgotten grabbed up Merlin and used the Shield to show Merlin images of his mission against the Forgotten failing before seeming killing Merlin in its hands. Merlin's Sorcerers Supreme immediately jumped into battle against the Forgotten to avenge Merlin but the Forgotten only bade the sorcerers to come closer and easily fought off every attacking sorcerer.

(Doctor Strange & the Sorcerers Supreme I#2) - The Sorcerers Supreme continued to battle the Forgotten as Wiccan tended to the seemingly dead Merlin. Swatting aside Dr. Strange, the Forgotten grabbed Earth-13729's Wiccan and attempted to absorb him into its gestalt form, feeding off his magic, but Nina the Conjuror and Demon Rider freed Wiccan. The Forgotten then turned its attention towards Yao, breaking his arm when he tried to escape, and Demon Rider held off the Forgotten long enough for Wiccan to envelope all of the sorcerers within his cloak and teleport them away to the beaches near Merlin's castle just as the Forgotten was reaching for them. With the sorcerers gone, the Forgotten returned the "beast men" to their underground resting place before the individual personalities within the gestalt Forgotten began arguing over what to do next, some feeling as if they needed to bring light back to the darkness while others feeling like they should absorb Merlin's magic first. Ultimately learning that the path to Merlin's magic was blocked, the Forgotten quieted its other personalities and decided to find the Light.

(Doctor Strange & the Sorcerers Supreme I#3) - While the Sorcerers Supreme ventured inside Merlin's castle suspecting the Forgotten would return, the Forgotten tracked the Sorcerers to the castle and sensed great magic inside. Arguing with its own component personalities, the Forgotten ultimately decided to force the Sorcerers to join the Forgotten or perish and went inside the castle. Tracking Sir Isaac Newton's shield spell, the Forgotten erupted from a lower level and used the magic Light of Darkness artifact against the Sorcerers, destroying many of the spirits that were then battling the Sorcerers. Announcing to the distraught Demon Rider that the spirits were not innocent and had done nothing while the Forgotten rotted in prison, the Forgotten explained that Merlin had imprisoned the Forgotten out of fear but the Sorcerers Supreme immediately jumped into an attack on the Forgotten. When Demon Rider attacked, blasting the Forgotten with hellfire, the Forgotten fired beams from the Light of Darkness blindly and Wiccan reflected some of the beams using a mirror, hitting the Forgotten and splitting its face into various heads, each representing one of the collective personalities within. Deciding to retreat to the Hollow Out of Time, the Forgotten grabbed a book with a human heart shape on the front as it retreated underground, leaving the Sorcerers Supreme to read up on the Forgotten's history, learning that the gestalt being was composed of all the beings Merlin had earlier locked up. After learning that the Forgotten's gestalt form was composed of dozens, the Sorcerers Supreme opted to visit the Hollow, which existed outside of time, and destroy the Forgotten once and for all.

(Doctor Strange & the Sorcerers Supreme I#4) - After the Sorcerers Supreme ventured into the Forgotten's former prison in an effort to learn about the collective being, the Forgotten appeared and smiled, welcoming the Sorcerers and remarking that it seemed a fitting place for them to learn its origins since it was their birthplace. Casting a spell from the Word of God book, which it retained, the Forgotten revealed that those who made up the Forgotten had merged together into a collective entity due to Merlin's magic. The Forgotten then began using the mystic items it had absorbed in conjunction with the Word of God book in an attempt to free their prison from its place outside of time. The spell was interrupted when the Sorcerers fought back and during the scuffle, Sir Isaac Newton cast a spell from the Word of God himself, splitting the Forgotten back into the individual beings that made up its collective form. The Sorcerers quickly rushed to the aid of the fallen mystics that made up the Forgotten, finding several dead and several more still alive, among them Nina the Conjuror's brother Joao. Sir Isaac Newton then walked up to one of the fallen Forgotten and impaled the mystic with his staff, pulling from the mystic's body the Word of God book and announcing his plans to utilize the magic contained in the book to make himself a god. Newton then easily bested the Sorcerers Supreme amidst the fallen Forgotten members and sealed the Sorcerers within the Forgotten's prison.

(Doctor Strange & the Sorcerers Supreme I#5) - Those who made up the Forgotten then departed their former prison but Nina the Conjuror's brother Joao slowly remained and Nina attempted to get Joao to free the captive Sorcerers. Joao asked Nina if the Sorcerers Supreme had planned to lock up the Forgotten and Nina apologized.

(Doctor Strange & the Sorcerers Supreme I#8) - When the Author of the Word of God tome appeared on Earth, former Forgotten member Joao began to manifest extra arms and heads as he seemingly began to re-merge with the Forgotten, who served the Author. Using a binding spell, Nina the Conjuror forced Joao to tell her about the Author and Joao related the Author's origins and his connection to the Forgotten. Nina, Joao and Nina's allies Yao, Howard the Duck and Luke Cage soon joined in the battle against the Author of the Word of God and during the battle, Sir Isaac Newton was infected by the Word of God and became one of the Forgotten, turning over the Word of God to the Author.
