Powers/Abilities: Matchstick Girl was a mutant whose hands ignited upon making contact with the air. Seemingly lacking conscious control over her powers, she kept her hands covered by pieces of cloth to keep them from burning all the time.

History: (Wolverine II#900/3 (fb) - BTS) - Through unrevealed circumstances and at an equally undetermined point in time, the mutant who would become known as Matchstick Girl was cast out of regular society. She found her way to the Morlocks, an underground mutant community that lived in the sewer tunnels of New York.
(Wolverine II#900/3 (fb)) - Through unrevealed ways, three off-line Sentinels were suddenly powered up. Returning to their prime directive of hunting and eliminating mutants, they headed straight for the Morlock tunnels. Luckily, the X-Men gained early intel on the situation and arrived to rescue the Morlocks. One of them, Carapace, was badly injured trying to save her friend Poser from an attack. When part of the tunnels collapsed, Beast and Wolverine got separated from their team with some of the Morlocks including Ape.
(Wolverine II#900/3 (fb)) - On the run from the Sentinels, Matchstick Girl was rescued by Ape, who carried her to the group of five Morlocks and two X-Men caught in a small cavern amidst the collapsed tunnels. With no way to get Carapace to a hospital, Beast decided to operate on her right then and there. He asked the Morlocks to help out, with Matchstick Girl eagerly showing her mutant powers. She was asked to light up the entire cavern with help from Ape, who transformed himself into a mirror to reflect the light to illuminate the entire cavern. The surgery went well and not too long afterwards, Marrow rescued all of them by extending her bone growths into the rubble and blasting it apart. Now free, Matchstick Girl and the other Morlocks went their own way.

The X-Men team seen fighting the Sentinels consisted of Cyclops, Beast, Wolverine and Archangel.
