History: (Ghost Rider III#72) - When many of the NYPD were standing around trying to figure out a series of murders possibly caused by Ghost Rider, Alec Maloni entered the room and announced that someone had very precisely breached the NYPD's security systems, commenting that the NYPD were lucky that he was on staff to notice the break. Lt. Jim Sokolowski sarcastically noted Maloni's modesty and asked for more information, to which Maloni replied that the burglar had went in and out like a scalpel and he commended his virus-checking software for catching the break. Sokolowski then asked what information was stolen and Maloni informed "Ski" that the designs for a molecular disruption gun were taken, though he mentioned that if the hackers had waited one more day, they would have also gotten the upgraded design plans. Knowing that the guns were designed to destroy superpowered vigilantes like Ghost Rider, Lt. Sokolowski ordered Maloni to trace and apprehend the thieves, commenting that no one messed with the NYPD's wires.

(Ghost Rider III#74) - After Stacy Dolan ran into a crazed Vengeance while searching a Brooklyn tenement, Alec Maloni and Lt. Sokolowski came to her aid, with Maloni hitting Vengeance with blasts from upgraded molecular disruption guns. When Vengeance continued his attack, Maloni and Sokolowski continued to hit Vengeance with the weapons while Stacy got to safety, seemingly vaporizing Vengeance. Once the area was secure, Maloni watched as Sokolowski chewed Dolan out for withholding information on Vengeance, whom Dolan had been friends with in his civilian identity of Michael Badilino. Maloni then accompanied Sokolowski to St. Jude's Hospital's burn ward, where he and Sokolowski spoke with the severely burned agent Uno. They learned from Uno that Michael had lost control while battling the Hand and transformed into Vengeance, burning all of them and Uno as well.

(Ghost Rider III#75) - Alec Maloni and Lt. Jim Sokolowski went undercover at the Atlantic City Grand Adventura Hotel for the annual Mobsters' Cotillion, where they hoped to prevent Vengeance from murdering the mobsters in attendance. Maloni whispered that one sweep by the cops would leave all of the mobsters present arrested. Resigning himself to staying undercover and knowing that he was not there to arrest all of the mobsters, Maloni held his cover until the mobsters' chairman gave a speech and blew the two police officers' cover. Maloni was then hit in the back of the head with a gun stock and the chairman commented how nice it was that the NYPD had managed to make an appearance in New Jersey without a warrant or probable cause. Despite Sokolowski's claims that they were there to protect the mobsters from Vengeance, he was shot by Anton Hellgate, who ordered his agent Rak to take the unconscious Sokolowski and Maloni to Hellgate's car for later experimentation.

(Ghost Rider III#76) - When Stacy Dolan was also captured and taken to Hellgate's car by Rak, she managed to free Sokolowski and Alec Maloni and return to the battle site inside the Grand Adventura just in time to prevent John Blaze from killing Vengeance. Maloni reminded Blaze that no one was qualified to make a judgment as to whether Vengeance deserved to be put out of his misery or not before Anton Hellgate and his agents attacked the assembled heroes. During the battle, Hellgate's agents dogpiled on Vengeance, who ordered Ghost Rider to get himself and his allies out. Vengeance then began building his internal hellfire to explode, prompting Sokolowski to order Maloni and the others out of the building. After making it out, Maloni and the others watched as Stacy Dolan ran to her father, who had suffered a heart attack.

(Ghost Rider III#77 (fb) - BTS) - Maloni accompanied Ghost Rider, Blaze, Stacy Dolan and Jim Sokolowski as they rushed Arthur Dolan to St. Bernard's Hospital.

(Ghost Rider III#77) - As Arthur Dolan recovered, Maloni commented to Sokolowski that he could really use a cigarette and a shower. When Sokolowski told Maloni to go on home, Maloni replied that he'd like to stay and see Arthur Dolan wake up to cuss everyone out. Dan Ketch soon came in to visit and smiled at Stacy through the glass window, prompting Sokolowski to get up and leave and Maloni to follow.

It was near impossible to determine Alec Maloni's eye color, as he was almost always seen from behind or from a distance away. When he was seen up close, his glasses obscured his eye color.
