CHARLES WEISER

Real Name: Charles Weiser

Identity/Class: Human technology user

Occupation: Corporate spy

Group Membership: Hammer Industries

Affiliations: Justin Hammer

Enemies: Prowler (Hobie Brown)

Known Relatives: Mary (wife)

Aliases: None

Base of Operations: New York City

First Appearance: Spectacular Spider-Man Annual#9/2 (1989)

Powers/Abilities: Weiser wore an unfolding glider backpack which allowed him to fly in conjunction with his boot-jets. The wings were equipped with what appear to be laser cannons, and he carried a taser pistol.

History: (Spectacular Spider-Man Annual#9/2 (fb) ) - Charlie Weiser's wife threatened to leave him if he wasn't promoted to an executive position. His employer, Justin Hammer, offered him such a promotion if he agreed to wear a suit based on Hobie Brown's designs (which Brown's wife, Mindy McPherson, had offered to sell to Hammer) and steal plans from one of Hammer's competitors. Charles agreed.

(Spectacular Spider-Man Annual#9/2) - Stealing the microfilm, Weiser ran afoul of a security guard; he shot him with his taser, but attracted the attention of the Prowler (secretly Hobie Brown, who had come to retrieve his plans from a nearby Hammer plant). Weiser leapt off the roof, unfurled his wings, and attacked the Prowler with their built-in weapons. The Prowler, recognizing the design, fired a gas blast that shredded Charles' wings. The Prowler saved the plummeting Weiser, and unmasked him; Weiser explained himself, but the Prowler was unimpressed. He let Weiser go, telling him to report the glider's failure and to resign from Hammer Industries...and also advised him to find a good divorce lawyer.
