Real Name: Ufo (presumably, see comments)

Identity/Class: Extraterrestrial (Alpha Centaurian) technology-user (1950s era)

Occupation: Explorer (?)

Group Membership: None

Affiliations: Yellow Claw (Plan Chu) (until Ufo learned his true intentions)

Enemies:  United States of America, Jimmy Woo (Woo Yen Jet) (until Ufo learned he had been duped by the Yellow Claw)

Known Relatives: None

Aliases: "The Lightning Man" (in story title); "this fool from outer space" (as called by the Yellow Claw)

Base of Operations: Mobile throughout Earth; originally from an unidentified planet in the Alpha Centauri star-system

First Appearance: Yellow Claw#3/2 (February, 1957)

Powers/Abilities: Ufo had a slender humanoid body and proportionally large cranium. His entire head was covered by a transparent helmet--possibly he was unable to breathe Earth's atmosphere.

Ufo could manipulate cosmic forces, which he unleashed from his hands in lightning-like displays for a variety of effects, including telekinesis, teleportation, disintegration, and protective force fields; additionally, he also seemed to have some degree of mental telepathy, as he later apparently erased people's memories of him.

Ufo traveled in a "flying saucer" spacecraft.

Although not an evil being, the overly-trusting extraterrestrial was easily swayed into assisting the Yellow Claw's scheme of world domination.

Height: 4' (by approximation)
Weight: 70 lbs. (by approximation)
Eyes: Unrevealed
Hair: None

History: (Yellow Claw#3/2 (fb) - BTS) - For unrevealed reasons, Ufo came to Earth and met the acquaintance of the Yellow Claw. The Claw convinced the gullible alien visitor to help him in his fight against the "evil" Americans; he sent Ufo to an American military test site where, on two occasions, the little extraterrestrial used his powers to shoot missiles from the sky.

(Yellow Claw#3/2) - FBI agent Jimmy Woo was called in to monitor a third missile test. The missile was launched, and subsequently destroyed by a mysterious glowing light in the sky (actually Ufo in his spacecraft).

Ufo returned to the Yellow Claw's base on a small island in the South Pacific; he reported to the Claw that he had successfully destroyed another American weapon, then demonstrated his powers by blasting the ground and causing a seismic disturbance which was detected miles away.

Using seismic equipment and a Geiger counter, Jimmy Woo tracked the alien down and had a pilot fly him to the island. A bolt of lightning from the island hit the plane and cut it in half, but Woo and the pilot parachuted to safety and landed in front of Ufo. Suddenly Suwan (grand-niece of the Yellow Claw) ran up and told the alien that her uncle had been lying to him all along. Suwan led the group back to the Yellow Claw's headquarters, where they overheard the insidious mastermind transmitting orders to his agents over a radio, telling them how the world would soon be his because of the "fool from outer space".

Upon hearing this, Ufo was angered because the Claw had duped him, so he used his powers to transport the Yellow Claw and Suwan back to Hong Kong, and Jimmy and the pilot to a highway somewhere outside of Washington--all were unable to recall the recent events (...apparently Ufo had erased their memories of him).

Having had his fill of Earthlings, the little alien departed in his spaceship and concluded: "I've seen the last of Earth! I cannot stand a species that lies!"

Comments: Created by Jack Kirby.

Yeah, I know it seems kind of unlikely that an alien from a world 4.37 light-years away would just happen to have a name that sounds like an abbreviation for Unidentified Flying Object, but c'mon... it's from the 1950s, a simpler time.
Maybe his name was actually Yewpho and it just happened to sound like that acronym.--Ron Fredricks

Ufo's power and appearance reminds me a little of the New Seed--I wonder if there could be some connection?

(...but he also reminds me a little of the Watchers--you don't suppose there was more to Uatu's encounter with Queen Kalthea than what was depicted, do you?)

Weird! Doesn't look like the regular Alpha Centaurians

Ufo's flying saucer

Ufo's one-man spaceship, it was capable of interstellar travel, and it transported him from his home-world in the Alpha Centauri star-system to Earth.

The Yellow Claw tricked Ufo into flying to American test sites and destroying missiles from above in his spacecraft; after learning he had been duped, Ufo used his flying saucer to return home.
