History:
(Thor I#305-306 - BTS / Excalibur: Air Apparent (fb)) - In America, Dr. Cayre witnessed a battle between Thor and the Air-Walker android.

(Excalibur: Air Apparent (fb) - BTS) - Though the Air-Walker android was temporarily destroyed, Cayre got his hands on a small piece of the alien android, which was equipped with self-generation technology.

(Excalibur: Air Apparent (fb) - BTS) - Cayre worked with Machinesmith, who gave him a Life Model Decoy (LMD), which Cayre used as his assistant, Norm.

Cayre developed a prototype of the Air-Walker and then eventually rebuilt the android itself with the aid of Norm the LMD.

(Excalibur: Air Apparent (fb) - BTS) - Cayre attempted to apply Galactus' self-regeneration technology to human physiology. He experimented on himself and was killed by the process. However, the technology then resurrected him, then killed him again, then resurrected him again, etc. He was hideously mutated and driven completely insane as a result.

(Excalibur: Air Apparent (fb) - BTS) - Cayre and the Air-Walker android began to rampage, slaughtering the entire fishing village of Carrin's Hollow. Many were murdered outright by the android, while the survivors were reduced to nerveless protoplasm by Cayre. They then split up and began roaming the Scottish countryside outside of Glasgow.
In addition, Norm the LMD, who contained a nuclear warhead, went missing.

(Excalibur: Air Apparent - BTS) - Brigadier Alysande Stuart of WHO sent Excalibur to stop the madness: Nightcrawler was sent to track down Norm the LMD; Shadowcat to investigate Cayre's underground vault to locate the Air-Walker prototype; Meggan to Cayre's laboratory to destroy it via SHIELD hardware; Phoenix to stop Cayre himself; and Captain Britain to dismantle the Air-Walker.

(Excalibur: Air Apparent - BTS) - At Cayre's laboratory, Meggan encountered Coldblood-7, who had been sent there by Roxxon Oil Company to obtain a bio-weapon present there. After a short struggle, Meggan revealed to Coldblood that the weapon could turn humans into nerveless protoplasm. Agreeing that the weapon was too dangerous, Coldblood reneged on his first contract, destroying Cayre's laboratory and inducing a virus into his computers to destroy all of his notes.

(Excalibur: Air Apparent (fb) - BTS) - Cayre stopped at Clover's Pub in Clover's Corner, twelve miles up coast of Carrin's Hollow.

(Excalibur: Air Apparent) - Phoenix tracked Cayre to Clover's Pub and confronted him. He transformed the other pub-goers into nerveless protoplasm and then assaulted Phoenix, who formed a protective shield that kept him out. Cayre continually repaired himself as Phoenix injured him, and--as he was preparing to leave to use his power on others--Phoenix debated using her full power to scatter his molecules from one end of the universe to the other. Seeking another alternative, Phoenix instead fused some glass into an airtight chrysalis around Cayre. Without oxygen, Cayre knew he would suffocate and be resurrected only to suffocate again, etc., but Phoenix hoped that the WHO Technicians who arrived to take him away could find the means to cure him.

(Excalibur: Air Apparent - BTS) - Captain Britain battled the Air-Walker android, crossing the opposite sides of his cosmic energy-collecting Fire-Cloak, which caused a feedback loop that destroyed the Air-Walker android.

Comments: Created by Scott Lobdell with a host of others.

I'm not going to include the actual Air-Walker android in this profile, because it's too major and it needs its own profile. At this rate, I MAY get to it by 2010.

CLARIFICATIONS:
The Air-Walker prototype has known connection to:

Air-Walker prototype

Designed by Dr. Cayre and Norm, the prototype was kept in Cayre's underground vault. After Cayre went mad, Shadowcat was sent into the vault to shut down the prototype. It attacked her, but she phased through it and disrupted its circuits. It repaired itself and came after her again, this time not only resistant to being phased through, but also able to phase on its own. The prototype chased her into a subterranean cavern, mimicking her as she changed from solid to phased; and she tricked it into turning solid and then kicked it into a magma pool apparently destroying it.

It had superhuman strength, was composed of steel or a similar metal, and had razor-sharp talons and teeth. It could repair itself if damaged, and it could adapt so that it would not be injured by the same attack twice.

It only said one thing: "KRREEEAKT!"

The prototype looked a lot like one of the aliens from the Aliens movies (or even NM-E), and didn't show any similarities to the Air-Walker.

Shadowcat also called him a "demented Mr. Coffee."

Norm

Norm was a Life Model Decoy (LMD) given to Dr. Cayre by Machinesmith. Norm assisted Cayre in developing the Air-Walker prototype and rebuilding the Air-Walker itself. After Cayre experimented on himself and went mad, Norm wandered off to the Glasgow Galleria, where he threatened to detonate the nuclear warhead contained within his form. Nightcrawler went after Norm who attempted to destroy him to prevent him from interfering with Cayre's plans. Norm proved too powerful for Nightcrawler, but the mutant managed to steal his gun and use it to seriously damage Norm's form. Norm activated his nuclear warhead with a thirty second countdown, but Nightcrawler teleported him into a water fountain. His exposed wiring caused a powerful explosion, but the warhead was deactivated, and Norm was presumably destroyed.

Norm's body was composed of steel or a comparable metal, and he had superhuman strength (enhanced human?), the capacity for independent thought (or close to it), and a nuclear warhead within his chest that he could activate at will. He was also experienced with the use of large automatic weapons.
