History: (U.S. Agent II#1 (fb))- Kali Vries attended the Fort Bragg boot camp with John Walker, and would compete with him in training exercises, often beating him. She gave him the nickname "Georgia Peach." The two also had a romantic relationship, but eventually broke up.

(U.S. Agent II#1 (fb, BTS))- Vries went on to become a S.H.I.E.L.D. operative and served in the United Nations disaster relief team which cleaned up after the destruction caused by Ego, the Living Planet. S.H.I.E.L.D. assigned Vries to help uncover who Senator Warkovsky was receiving mind-controlling creatures from, and Warkovsky used his influence to install her as the co-leader of S.T.A.R.S., intending for her to sabotage efforts to halt the spread of the creatures. This reunited her with Walker, who was now the U.S. Agent.

(U.S. Agent II#1)- Vries accompanied the U.S. Agent on a mission to capture Machete, who was selling the creatures to HYDRA. As Walker fled the HYDRA base with Machete, Vries lay down cover fire for him, but accidentally slew Machete with a bullet to the head. Vries defended her actions to Walker, and assured him that she wasn't after his job. She kissed Walker in an effort to both manipulate him, and to prove that she could still beat him to an action.

Vries went to meet with Warkovsky, and claimed to have slain Machete on purpose to further her cover story. Warkovsky gave her one of the creatures, and told her to use it on Walker. When Vries rejoined S.T.A.R.S. for a mission to Atlantis to prevent Poundcakes from selling the creatures to the Atlantean Morcan, she slipped her creature in Walker's helmet.

(U.S. Agent II#2)- Vries pursued Poundcakes as she fled Atlantis, and fought her aboard her speedboat, but Poundcakes knocked Vries from the boat and escaped. That night, Vries came to Walker's apartment and offered him a drink, attempting to seduce him again so that she could have another chance at placing a creature on him, as the first had failed. Walker brushed off her advances, not wanting to have his heart broken again, but Vries had enough time to plant the creature before leaving. She met with Warkovsky and assured him that Walker was now controlled, and asked when she would meet his benefactor, but Warkovsky replied that he was too smart to share such information. When Vries returned to S.T.A.R.S., Walker had departed with all of the creatures they had captured, bringing them to the man behind the creatures, the Power Broker. Vries joined Captain America in setting after Walker, unaware that he was only pretending to be under the creature's influence.

(U.S. Agent II#3)- Vries and Captain America attacked the U.S. Agent and Power Broker, and Vries set after the Power Broker, only to be struck down from behind by the U.S. Agent. The Power Broker tied her up, and revealed to her how he had obtained the "mother" of the mind-controlling creatures and become its new host body. He placed one of the creatures on Vries' neck to control her as well. She was able to escape her bonds, but found that she could not harm the Power Broker because of the creature's influence. When the U.S. Agent returned with Captain America to face the Power Broker, the Power Broker sent Vries after the Agent, but he defeated her, and used his club's electrical shock to destroy the creature, restoring her control.

With the Power Broker defeated, Dum-Dum Dugan appeared to inform the U.S. Agent of Vries' mission. The Agent accused her of murdering Machete, but she replied that it truly was an accident, and that she was sorry it had happened, as Machete might have led them to the Power Broker sooner. vries was removed as co-leader of S.T.A.R.S., and returned to S.H.I.E.L.D. She sent Walker an old picture of them from their boot camp days, asking for his forgiveness, but Walker burned the photograph.
