Powers/Abilities: As a Snark, Nux Vomico was a large and strong (lifting approximately 400 lbs.) reptilian biped with a large tail that could be used for balance and as a weapon.

    Generally bipedal, they can run on all fours for increased speed.

    He is longer-lived than humans, to an unspecified degree.

    He is poikilotherm ("cold blooded"); sluggish in cold weather, intense cold can force hibernation and death with prolonged exposure. vomico-nux-ss-fullest-poorlyseen

    His tongue can extend several inches beyond his mouth.

    He carries a hand-blaster weapon of unspecified abilities.

    His harness includes an upward projection extending above his head; the function of this device is unrevealed...perhaps it is a light, sensor or weapon.

(Legendary Star-Lord#5 (fb) - BTS) - The Snark mercenary Nux Vomico was gathered into  the Slaughter Squad along with a number of other alien mercenaries by Mister Knife (J'Son of Spartax, although his identity was unknown to those involved with him at the time of this story).

    Knife advised the Squad, "Serve me well, and I will reward you well. But if you disobey my orders -- if you steal what is mine -- if you cross me in any way -- I will obliterate you from this galaxy."

(Legendary Star-Lord#5 (fb) - BTS) - Seeking to obtain the power of the Black Vortex, Mister Knife sent his Slaughter Squad to Kymellia III. He gave them specific instructions not to gaze directly at the Vortex.

vomico-nux-ss-bv    Along with the rest of the Slaughter Squad, Nux Vomico invaded the Ghostmare Vaults of the planet Kymellia III, although they got pummeled by the Kymellian cavalry.

(Legendary Star-Lord#5) - Nux stood back as the Shi'ar hunter Misa destroyed Kymellian guards, after which Raksor the Skrull opened the door to the next chamber, having impersonated the Kymellian Lucien.

    Raksor told them that he had found the target, and he led them to another door, advising them that the Steel Brigade awaited them on the other side.

(Legendary Star-Lord#5 (fb) - BTS) - Nux Vomico and the rest of the Slaughter Squadron ruthlessly slew the Steel Brigade.

(Legendary Star-Lord#5) - After Raksor identified the chamber they sought underneath a massive globe that appeared to be solid rock, Father Diablo projected smoke from his body to lift the globe into the air.

    Nux Vomico subsequently followed the others into the unseen chamber.

    Within the chamber, they found their target, the Black Vortex. Per Delphinia the Centaurian's instruction, the rest of the crew donned and their goggles, and Delphinia reminded them that Mister Knife had instructed none of them to stare at it directly.

    Disregarding that order, Nux Vomico stated that if Knife thought the Vortex to be worth so much, then he wanted a good look.

    Initially, Nux noted that it looked like a worthless piece of garbage, but when he got a look into the mirror, he was saw himself and considered that he never knew he could be so magnificent.

    Czar-Doon warned Nux to get back, as "if Knife found out you --"

    Entranced, Nux extended his limb and agreed to submit to the Vortex.

    He screamed as the energies charged him, but then he noted that he felt the whole cosmos, as well as sensing walls of energy bending to his will.

    Before he could act on this, however, the arriving Knife shot Nux through the head, apparently killing him.

    Per WebMD: Nux vomica comes from a plant called Strychnos nux-vomica. The seed of this plant is found in homeopathic products. Although these products are commonly used for nausea, vomiting, and a variety of health problems, their benefits are not well defined. Homeopathic nux vomica products are usually well tolerated, but pure nux vomica is toxic when taken by mouth. Before taking nux vomica, make sure to tell your health care provider about any health conditions you have or medicines you are taking.
    --Maybe his wife or sister is named Nux Vomica, and Vomico is the masculine form of the name?
