AL'TI
VIDUA
Real Name: Al'ti Vidua
Identity/Class: Extraterrestrial (Shi'ar)
Occupation: Warrior
Group Membership: None (although those under affiliations are an informal team)
Affiliations: Kl'rath,
Maker (one of the multiversal duplicates of Reed
Richards-1610), Phyllis
the Kronan;
formerly (via duplicity): Future
Foundation (Bentley-23, Dragon Man, Korr, Leech, Artie Maddicks, Mik,
Onome, Alex Power, Julie Power, Tong, Turg, Vil, Wu); Lyja the Laserfist
(also posing as Yondu Udonta)
Known Relatives: None
Aliases: Warbird
"Murder Bird" and "Scary Bird-Woman" (from
Bentley-23)
First Appearance: (Unidentified) Future
Foundation#1 (October, 2019);
(identified) Future
Foundation#2 (November, 2019)
Powers/Abilities: As a Shi'ar, Al'ti has supehuman strength, lifting at least 1 ton; however, as a Warbird and something of a Shi'ar variant, she may have significantly greater strength. Her musculature varies significantly and may reflect her manifesting greater strength (artistic license is also possible, but she had the same penciler in Future Foundation#1-3).
While most Shi'ar lack wings and even "throwbacks" to their ancestry, like Deathbird, have wings under the arms, Al'ti possesses a pair of large white wings sprouting from her back and independent from her arms. While these wings can be spread out to span perhaps 12 or more feet, these can also apparently be retracted/withdrawn into her body, as she has been shown without wings.
It is unrevealed weather her wings are
organic or synthetic. There was not information to indicate they were
not part of her body, but it is possible that she could summon them at
will, much like her weapons.
Al'ti is a savage, bloodthirsty
(possibly literally), and deadly combatant. She is a highly capable
hand-to-hand combatant, but she also uses a pair of daggers, a pair of
hook-bladed weapons that can also electrocute an adult into
unconsciousness; and a 3' long energy sword.
As she does not carry all of these
weapons at once and she lacks an obvious weapons-storage equipment on
her person, it seems likely that she can summon and send back an
undetermined number of weapons from some remote, perhaps sub-space or
extradimensional location.
Or perhaps, she can transform her
weapon(s) into different forms.
History:
(Future Foundation#2 (fb) - BTS) - At some point,
At'li was imprisoned on the prison planet L'ar Gath Five alongside her
allies (see comments), Reed
Richards-1610 (aka the Maker, or one of his multiversal
counterparts), Kl'rath the Snark, and
Phyllis the Kronan.
(Future Foundation#1) - Having detected Reed Richards amongst the prisoners on L'ar Gath Five (during their search for the pieces of the Molecule Man that had been scattered across realities following the Multiversal Secret Wars), Future Foundation traveled there and members Bentley-23, Dragon Man, Alex Power, and Yondu Yudonta (actually the Skrull Lyja) broke into his cell to free him.
The prisoner turned out to be Reed Richards-1610, aka the Maker, who was flanked by Phyllis, Kl'rath, and At'li.
(Future Foundation#2) - With Reed-1610 posing as Reed-616, he introduced Phyllis, Kl'rath, and At'li, as beings whom he had met and allied with in the prison, after which -- with their power-dampeners shut down -- he told his rescuers that his companions would help clear the way. Spreading her wings, At'li advised the "little ones" that they should stand back as she would not want them to be coated in the viscera of criminals. Taking to the air and screeching, "Skree!", At'li and her allies slaughtered criminals and/or guards in their path.

Comments: Created by Jeremy Whitley, Will Robson, and Daniele Orlandini.
Al'ti and Phyllis were not
shown following their defeats in Future
Foundation#4. They could have been killed in the explosion, or Al'ti may
have had access to a force field or teleporter to survive both the
explosion and/or being trapped in space, and/or the Maker could have
saved one or both of them.
Both were interesting characters, and I would like to
see them again.
As Al'ti called Reed-1610 "captain," I
would think that she, at least, and likely Phyllis and Kl'rath, was/were
part of his crew before getting imprisoned on L'ar Gath Five. Phyllis
called him boss, but that doesn't necessarily imply TO ME that he led
the group before they got to L'ar Gath Five. The matching uniforms of
Al'ti and Maker, as well as the partially-shredded uniform for Kl'rath,
fits with them having been a pre-existing team.
If Phyllis was not allied before then, they became
allies during their imprisonment.
Warbirds are apparently some elite
Shi'ar bodyguards or warriors, commandos, etc. I don't think we know
much about them beyond that.
Al'ti has a skin tone notably darker
than most Shi'ar we have seen thus far. To my knowledge, "Black" Shi'ar
(with a skin tone consistent with humans of African descent) have not be
shown before.
The Warbird from the 2021-2022 Marvels series is
Black, too…but she’s a hybrid, with her father being Wakandan…so that
doesn’t really help.
Warbird (Ava'Dara
Naganandini) looks fairly dark skinned some of the time, yet white
others. I guess she tans really dark? Can't think of any others off the
top of my head.
--Loki
The fact that she has not just wings but wings of a kind that AFAIK we've never seen on a Shi'ar (unlike the "throwback" wings like Deathbird's) before makes her unique in that sense, so perhaps her skin color is meant to be similarly unique. We'd need to know the writer/artist's intent, I guess.--Ronald Byrd
I wonder if Al'ti has any
history with either of those other two Warbirds?
