SON OF SATAN
Real Name: Unrevealed
Identity/Class: Half Jotunheim Frost Giant (see comments) ((at least) 1500s to 1950s era (see
comments))
Occupation: Conqueror, suitor
Citizenship:
Unrevealed, possibly Asgard
Group Membership: Asgardian (Norse) gods
Affiliations: Four imps,
other demons of his father
Enemies: Apollo,
Whitney Hammond, Della Mason, Venus/Aphrodite
Known Relatives: Loki Laufeyson (father),
Hela, Tess Black (half sisters), Fenris Wolf, Midgard Serpent,
Sleipnir, Vali Halfling (half brothers), Laufey, Farbauti (paternal
grandparents, deceased), Odin (adoptive grandfather), Frigga (adoptive
grandmother), large extended family
Aliases: Satan, Mr. Satin (brief pseudonym given by
Venus)
Base of Operations: Locked in a fire disk
circling the Earth;
formerly a fiery domain styled like Hell/Hades/Hel
First Appearance: Venus#10/1 (July, 1950)
Powers/Abilities: The Son of Satan relies on
small demon-like imps at his absolute command to
sow widespread destruction, which he revels in. He is human in
appearance but also has thick horns at his temple and a long thin tail
that displays no prehensile abilities. He is virtually indestructible,
being able to survive in space. He can apparently stand and travel on
clouds, yet also has the power of flight up to supersonic to escape the
Earth's atmosphere. As the son of Frost Giant, he can lift up to 50
tons and the Giants' durability and longevity. The Son of Satan has
minimal powers of disguise by
altering his apparel into contemporary clothing. He is bound to his
father's Hell-like domain by his father's will, released to Earth only
if a
plan is suggested that pleases the father. He manifests in billowing
smoke that reek of sulfur, and can teleport outside of his father's
domain. However, he can renounce his powers at will. He has been
trained in black magic rites by his father Loki, and claims power over
"night and fear" (but these are undefined).
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 520 lbs. (variable)
Eyes: Red
Hair: Brown
History:
(Venus#10/1 (fb) - BTS) - Son of Asgardian god Loki, the self-proclaimed Son of Satan desired
the goddess Venus/Aphrodite for centuries. Over that time (and probably
earlier), he also engaged in various nefarious plots and dire
activities on humankind, which his father Loki (masquerading in a form of Satan) delighted in.
(Venus#10/1)
- As the Son of Satan, he was banned from visiting Olympus to woo
Venus, but she had since taken residence on Earth (and fallen in love
with the human Whitney Hammond). Becoming aware of her new home, the
Son of Satan gained his father's permission to visit Earth to force her
into becoming his bride, or else he would spread destruction. Satan was
pleased
with the idea of fomenting terror and sent his son to Earth's surface,
where he appeared outside Venus' workplace (where she worked in a human
identity). He manifested in smoke and sulfur but with a debonair suit
on; recognizing him and the danger he presented, Venus pretended he was
a friend called Mr. Satin, and quickly escorted him outside and into
space to keep their mutual godhood a secret. He declared his love for her, but she dismissed him, that the
opposites of good and evil were not fated to be together. Rebuffed, he
threatened havoc upon humans she loved using imps to spread floods,
earthquakes, typhoons and other catastrophes. She again refused and
he unleashed the imps that immediately brought weather-born disaster to
humans across vast areas and cities. Venus countered the destruction
where she could, calling on her fellow god Apollo's help. The Son of
Satan drove the fierce storms eastward across the USA to New York,
riding a typhoon directly at the office of Hammond (and Venus' human
rival Della Mason). Seeking to save her true love Hammond, Venus
tricked the Son of Satan by claiming to listen further to his proposal.
The villain stopped the storm. Venus asked the Son of Satan to prove
his love by
renouncing his demonic powers for a day, which he readily but naively
did. Venus called upon Apollo to send a fiery disc that imprisoned him
and would spin forever around the Earth. The Son of Satan threatened
wrath before he was lost to sight.
Comments: Creators not credited.
The Son of Satan stated he had loved Venus "for centuries", so I've placed him as at least 400 years old, but he's likely meant to be much older.
Venus calls him Satan several times. Make of that what you will.
Many opportunities and explanations for an escape, but he's been banished to obscurity...
So who might his unrevealed mother have been? A
demon? A witch? Or is he actually a diminutive full-blood Jotunheim
Giant who Loki removed to save the boy from the Giant's ridicule and
cruel treatment?
Special thanks to Markus for noting his entry in the Thor: Asgard's Avenger handbook.
In Marvel Comics,
numerous characters have claimed to be the biblical Satan, and it is
difficult to distinguish which is which. In addition, other sources
have claimed that the various major demons (Baphomet, Mephisto,
Satannish, Thog, [Loki (in this case)], etc.) are a manifestation of
Satan.. Lots of demons
have claimed to be Satan.--Snood
