History:

(New Warriors I#73 (fb) - BTS) - After the death of her husband, Brock Jones, aka the super hero Torpedo, at the hands of the Dire Wraiths, Brock's widow, Lorraine, took the kids -- Ann, Nell and Daniel -- and went into hiding. She sent the Torpedo suit to Brock's cousin, Phillip Jeffries, in a box, and it eventually ended up in the hands of Phillip's son, Mike Jeffries.

Years later, Mike and his friend Michiko Musashi shared the duties of wearing the suit, taking turns to be a hero under the name Turbo.

(New Warriors I#73-74 (fb) - BTS / New Warriors I#73-74 - BTS) - Posing as a now-adult Dan Jones, the Dire Wraith queen Volx resolved to confront Mike Jeffries and convince him to surrender the armor to him.

(New Warriors I#73) - On one spring Saturday, Maggie told her older brother, Mike, that she was heading out as these days were too cool to stay inside reading comics. Upon Mike's query, Maggie told him that she was chilling at the mall with her friends Casey and Rebecca to get some fresh air. Mike mocked the concept of fresh air at the mall, but Maggie just told him to tell the "parental units" where she was when they got home.

As she said goodbye and opened the door, Maggie was startled by the big guy (Volx as "Dan Jones") standing there. Telling the visitor that he had scared the "living crud" out of her, Maggie nonetheless let him into the house, yelled to Mike that there was someone here to see him and that she was leaving him in the foyer.

(New Warriors I#73 - BTS) - Volx ultimately slew and adopted the form of Mike, apparently claiming his memories, and tricked Michiko into letting him wear the armor. The New Warriors defeated and apparently destroyed Volx. Michiko continued as the sole Turbo, at least for some time.

Comments: Created by Evan Skolnick and Patrick Zircher +/- Dwight Coye.

I don't think there is evidence that Maggie knew that Mike shared the Turbo identity.

As Maggie said "parental units" and we know Phillip was at least Mike's dad, we'd assume that Phillip had a wife, and that they were both the parents of Mike and Maggie. However, it could also be that Phillip had re-married (or was otherwise in a serious enough relationship for his partner to be considered a parent) to another woman or to a man. Or, perhaps Mike and/or Maggie were adopted or were half-siblings. Who knows?

Dan Jones looked like he was perhaps 4-5 years old when he first appeared in a 1977 story. With the sliding time scale, Dan would have perhaps been 8-10 years old in the New Warriors I#73 story. Having him appear as a massive young man, at least 18-20-years-old seemed way off, and it bothered me until it was revealed that this wasn't actually Dan Jones, but just the Dire Wraith queen Volx posing as him. Still, you'd think the age discrepancy would have clued in Mike...although we don't really know how long he had to think about it before Volx slew and replaced him.
It wouldn't have been out of reason for Volx to have also slain Maggie and her parents to prevent them from reporting Mike's death, but there's not anything to support that.
Similarly, it is quite possible that Volx tracked down Lorraine Jones and her kids Ann, Nell and Daniel in the process of tracking the Torpedo suit to Brock Jones' cousin Phillip, and having slain them as well, but there's also nothing to support that.
I prefer to think that Volx did not kill those others, but we'll never know for sure until/unless it is spelled out in-story somewhere.
Torpedo's most recent Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe entry (Defenders: Strange Heroes#1 (February, 2012) ) at least said this:
NOTE: The Wraith queen Volx later impersonated Dan Jones and tracked down Mike Jeffries; however, she apparently did not slay Dan to steal his identity, as she assumed an adult form, while Dan should still be a young child.
