History:
(
Marvel Premiere I#39 (fb) - BTS) - Lorraine was a model, but after she married Brock Jones, he never wanted her to have to work again. Living in Westport, Connecticut, they had a daughter, Annie, and a son...

(Daredevil I#126-127 - BTS) - Brock, who resented his boring work at Delmar Insurance, became the super heroic Torpedo.jones-lorraine-torp-mp39-face

(Marvel Premiere I#39 (fb) – BTS) – Brock kept his new heroic identity a secret from Lorraine and the kids.

(Marvel Premiere I#39) - Lorraine greeted Brock with a kiss after he returned home at the end of the day, after which he complained about his boring work at Delmar. After dinner, Brock went to his den to unwind until Lorraine called him up to bed, which led to romance.

The next day, while vacuuming and trying to calm her arguing kids, Lorraine suddenly suffered severe abdominal pain, and she called her doctor, insisting she be seen that day.

(Marvel Premiere I#40 (fb) - BTS) - Lorraine called her sister, Suzy, to come over and watch the kids while she went to see the doctor.

(Marvel Premiere I#39) - After an examination, Lorraine was ecstatic when her doctor told her that she was pregnant.

(Marvel Premiere I#40 (fb) - BTS) - Lorraine called Suzy and told her that she was staying for a complete check-up but that all was well.

(Marvel Premiere I#40 - BTS) - Following a battle with the Rocketeers as the Torpedo, Brock returned home, but was surprised to find Suzy there. Suzy informed him that Lorraine had had to go to the clinic, but that she had phoned a little bit a go to tell her that she was staying over for a complete check-up, but that all was well.

(Marvel Premiere I#40) - As Lorry returned home, the Torpedo flew inside their upstairs window. Having swiftly changed into casual clothes, Brock acted as if he had been there for some time. After her kids happily greeted her, Lorry told him that she was pregnant. Flabbergasted, Brock asked how and when, and Lorry teasingly told him that if he didn't know, she wasn't going to be the one to tell him. They kissed, which got some giggles from their kids.jones-lorraine-torp-mp40-kiss

(Rom I#21 (fb) - BTS) - Lorraine gave birth to their daughter, whom they named Nell.

(Rom I#21 (fb)) <A few weeks before the main story> - Alien Dire Wraiths wearing Rocketeer armor, having determined that Brock was the Torpedo, traveled to his home. While Lorraine slept, Brock awakened to the sound of their arrival, donned his Torpedo costume and subdued the Rocketeers, but was shocked when they crumbled to dust.

(Rom I#21 (fb) - BTS) - Considering himself now to be a killer (not realizing the Rocketeers' alien nature) and appreciating that his enemies knew his location and would return to threaten his family, Brock took a job as football coach at Clairton High School in Virginia, arranged the sale of their home and the purchase of a new home, the former Mason house (with the Masons having been disguised Dire Wraiths) and took the family and their belongings via U-Haul to Clairton.

(Rom I#21 (fb) - BTS / Rom I#22 (fb) - BTS) - Lorraine sent notice to Brock's sister, Maggie, that they were moving to Clairton, including their new return address in it. A Dire Wraith who had slain and replaced Delmar president Byron Benjamin appropriated the letter.

(Rom I#21) - As the sun came up, Lorraine appreciated that Brock had driven all night. Feeling she had needed the sleep, Brock told her that he didn't mind. When they stopped for directions to their Mason home, Steve Jackson called his girlfriend, Brandy Clark, and told her to roll out the welcome wagon. Impressed with Steve's friendliness, Lorraine told Brock she didn't know that towns like this existed anymore, and that she was so happy that he had decided to quit his boring job at Delmar to take the football coaching job at Clairton High. She further told him that even if they had to live on less income, at least he would be doing what he did best.

Soon after, they arrived at their new home, and they were almost immediately thereafter greeted by Brandy Clark and her parents, Sarah and Jonathan, the Reverend Walker and other townsfolk, who helped them unload their truck. Lorraine was pleased to tears that they had already made more friends than they had back in the city.

(Rom I#21 (fb) - BTS) - That evening, Lorraine put the kids to bed, although it took <presumably reading a story of> Winnie the Pooh and the promise that she would visit their new school with them the next day.

(Rom I#21) - Lorraine told Brock that the kids were finally asleep and they were finally alone in their new home, but Brock, still upset about having put his family at risk, took a walk.

(Rom I#21 - BTS) - While Lorraine unpacked the sheets, Brock observed the Galadorian Spaceknight Rom flying overhead, assumed him to be a Rocketeer and attacked him. Eventually Rom resolved the conflict peacefully and explained the Dire Wraith situation to Torpedo.

Meanwhile, the Dire Wraith posing as Byron Benjamin revealed to his Rocketeers that the Torpedo suit was now in the same location as their enemy Rom, and he instructed them to go to Clairton, kill Brock Jones, procure the Torpedo suit and use it to slay Rom.

(Rom I#22) - While bottle-feeding Nell, Lorraine noted that each day dawned more beautifully than the last in Clairton, although this day was special. Brock replied that every day was special with her, but he confirmed that today was the day he started his coaching job, after which he jogged over to check out the football field.jones-lorraine-torp-rom23-fulljones-lorraine-torp-rom23-nell

(Rom I#22 - BTS) - Finding the milkman, Piney Plum, injured and his truck demolished, Brock brought him back to their house.

(Rom I#22 (fb) - BTS) - Reviving, Piney explained to Brock how he had spotted some flying men (Wraith Rocketeers), who had blown up his truck, and that he had narrowly jumped to safety.

(Rom I#22) - As Annie and Danny came downstairs, having heard the commotion, Lorraine told them to quietly get their breakfast on the table, as she had to talk to their daddy. As Brock called around to the neighbors, telling them of the attack on Piney and asking them to come over, Lorraine demanded to know what was going on. Brock instead had her open the door, and let in the Clarks, Steve Jackson, Revered Walker and others. Lorraine withheld a scream upon seeing the 7' robotic-looking Rom, not wanting to alarm the children, and she soon found Rom to be reassuring. Brock then discussed how he was the Torpedo and revealed the threats of the Rocketeers and the Dire Wraiths. The people of Clairton confirmed the Dire Wraith, and after Brock expressed his surprise at how the Rocketeers had found them, Lorraine revealed that she had sent a letter to his sister, Maggie, care of Delmar.

Presumably intending to draw out Torpedo, the Rocketeers targeted Clairton Grammar School. Distressed, Lorraine told Brock that their children were in danger, after which he and Rom flew out to save the children.

(Rom I#22 - BTS) - Torpedo and Rom slew or banished the Rocketeers, although Brock took an energy blast in the side. Danny and Annie recognized Torpedo as their father.

(Rom I#22) - Back home, Brock considered that they would need to move again, but Lorraine countered that with what she had her about the Wraiths, they wouldn't be safe anywhere, and they need to stay and make a stand.

(Rom I#23) - As Brock was out on patrol, Lorraine -- while watching over a sleeping Annie and Danny -- wished that he wasn't out on patrol every night and wasn't the Torpedo at all. She considered that while the kids were thrilled to have a super hero for a father, she wanted her husband back. Hearing Nell cry, she rushed into the nursery, assuring Nell that mommy was coming.

(Rom I#26 (fb) - BTS) - Using a Star Disc, Dire Wraiths had created a mist that mesmerized those whom it contacted.

(Rom I#23) - By the time Lorraine arrived, Nell had been pacified by the Wraith mist and was just sitting up in her crib, staring curiously at her mother, but giving no evidence of distress. Asking Nell if she'd had a bad dream, Lorraine picked her up and told her it was alright. She was unaware that Nell stared toward Annie and Danny's room.

(Rom I#24 (fb) - BTS) - The mist affected Annie and Danny as well. At some point, Lorraine called Dr. Stennis, who paid them a house call but was also affected by the mists.

(Rom I#24) - As the Torpedo returned home from his evening patrol, Lorraine told him that the kids were all sick and that Dr. Stennis was upstairs with them. After Stennis assured Brock, who failed to notice the fog passing out of the room, that the children were all fine, he told Lorraine that it was a false alarm.

The distraught Lorraine told Brock that he was blind as well if he could not see that something was horribly, dreadfully wrong there, as these were not their children. Not appreciating the blank stares in their children, Brock instead worried that Lorraine may have been overwhelmed by the strain of their recent issues; he also failed to notice as Annie and Danny failed to react to their mother's hysterical screams. jones-lorraine-torp-rom24-distraught

(Rom I#25 (fb) - BTS) - The mists affected Lorraine and Brock as well.

(Rom I#25) - Having encountered a number of mist-mesmerized locals, Steve Jackson and Brandy Clark fled to the Jones household. After they had pounded on the door for five minutes, the mesmerized Brock answered the door with Lorraine and the kids at his side. Lorraine noted the visitor's identities, and Brock replied that they had been told that they might come here. Steve appreciated that the inside of their house contained the same fog that had changed the others.

(Rom I#26 - BTS) - The mesmerized people of Clairton, including Brock Jones (and almost certainly Lorraine and their children), took Steve Jackson and Brandy Clark to the old mine, where the sorcerous Star Disc, linked to the black sun of the Dire Wraith's Dark Nebula, revealed how it had mesmerized the entire town. The Star Disc then sorcerously shifted a group of Dire Wraiths from other Wraith-infiltration points on Earth so that Clairton might be subdued once and for all. The fog then took over Brandy and Steve as well, after which the Wraiths sent the humans into stasis in the old mine. The Dire Wraiths then took the forms of the humans and waited for Rom to return.

(Rom I#26 (fb) - BTS) - Lorraine, her family and the rest of the people of Clairton were trapped in a white-cell the Wraiths had sunk into the mines.

(Rom I#27 (fb) - BTS) - Food materialized, seemingly out of nowhere, keeping the captives alive.

(Rom I#27) - When Brock was frustrated by his failure to recognize the threat earlier and attempted to fly to find a way out, Lorraine told him he couldn't blame himself, and he ultimately returned after being unable to find a way out. When he commented that after they outlived their usefulness, the Wraiths would decide to let them die, Lorraine told him he was frightening the children, although Annie and Danny noted that they weren't afraid and that they knew their dad would get them out of there.

Unseen, a disruption appeared in the white floor.jones-lorraine-torp-rom30-wnell

(Rom I#28 (fb) - BTS) - One of the Mole Man's burrowing mole creatures tunneled into the white cell, and once the mental illusion that the cell had no walls was dispelled, the Torpedo was able to blast a way to freedom. Once free, the people of Clairton were able to convince the Mole Man that the Dire Wraiths posed a threat to Subterranea as well as to the surface. The Mole Man then had his agents progressively drag the Wraiths down into Subterranea where the people of Clairton ambushed and overpowered most of them before they could shape shift and/or escape.

(Rom I#28 - BTS) - When Rom returned to Clairton, along with his fellow Spaceknight, Starshine, the Wraiths posing as the residents duped them and convinced them to investigate the Subterranean attacks.

(Rom I#28) - The Mole Man and his Outcasts mistook Rom and Starshine for Wraiths and attacked them until the people of Clairton arrived and explained that Rom was their ally against the Wraiths. The last two Wraiths involved in this scheme mortally wounded Starshine before Rom was able to banish them.

(Rom I#29) - Lorraine, Brock and their kids attended Starshine's funeral. When Rom called out her name and fired his neutralizer into the sky, Lorraine asked Brock if he couldn't go to Rom and talk to him, but Brock told her that there were times when a man was better to work through his grief alone. At the funeral's conclusion, Brock again expressed frustration with his failure to appreciate the Wraith threat before everyone had been captured, but Lorraine insisted that he knew that there was nothing he or anyone else could have done. After Steve supported Lorraine's sentiment, another local noted that he and some other guys at the lab thought they could modify his visor so he could detect Wraiths.

jones-lorraine-torp-rom32-kneel(Rom I#30) - On Christmas Eve, Lorraine, Brock and the kids joined Rom and Steve Jackson at the Clark home, where they discussed the future of Clairton and the Wraith threat. She held Nell and watched as Rom activated the bioptics in Brock's Torpedo visor, granting him the ability to detect the Dire Wraiths regardless of their forms.

Almost immediately thereafter, Annie and Danny saw a spaceship in the sky (the ship of the Metal Master), but Brock just assumed it was their active imaginations and the toy rayguns he had gotten them, and he dismissed them. As he grabbed them, Lorraine noted that it was time for little Nell to go to bed, and they headed out for the night.

(Rom I#31 - BTS) - The Torpedo encountered and was easily incapacitated by the Wraith-human Hybrid.

(Rom I#32 (fb) - BTS) - The weakened Torpedo was discovered by Mack Killburn, who brought him to his home. Lorraine presumably called the doctor (Dr. Stennis?), and she or someone else informed Brandy Clark, Steve Jackson and Rom who came over to the Jones' house. The Jones and other humans told Killburn about the war against the Wraiths.jones-lorraine-torp-rom33-wave

(Rom I#32) - As Brock shared what had happened, Lorraine kneeled by his side and encouraged him to hush and rest. When Rom prepared to head out to confront Hybrid, Torpedo tried to get up to join him but was pained by the effort.

Embracing her husband, Lorraine reminded him that he had a family to think of, and she added that as far as she knew, no one paid insurance to the next-of-kin of super heroes. Brock continued to insist, but Rom advised him that Hybrid was immune to his powers and insisted he stay behind.

(Rom I#33) - Having defeated Hybrid, Rom flew over Clairton on the way out of town. As he flew over the Jones' house, Lorraine, Brock, Danny and Annie waved to him, and Lorraine noted that he saw them and was waving. Still using a crutch, Brock was frustrated that he wasn't up there with Rom, seeing him off as the Torpedo, but Lorraine assured him that Rom knew how badly he was hurt by Hybrid and that he understood.

She further advised Brock that he needed his rest, as he had a lot of responsibilities now, as he was the only one standing against a Dire Wraith reinfiltration of Clairton. Danny and Annie proclaimed their faith that their daddy could do the job.

(Rom I#50 (fb) - BTS) - Lorraine dyed her hair black.

(Rom I#48-50 (fb) - BTS / Rom I#50 - BTS) - The female Dire Wraiths slew their male counterparts on Earth and then slew and replaced Rom's closest allies in Clairton, including Steve Jackson and Brandy Clark's parents (Brandy, who had merged with the Starshine armor, was spared). jones-lorraine-torp-rom50-shielding

(Rom I#50 - BTS) - Having mystically warped Torpedo's perceptions to prevent him from discovery him, the Wraiths eventually confronted and slew Torpedo. The Wraith who had slain Brock adopted his form, absorbed his memories and donned hisTorpedo suit.

(Rom I#50 (fb) - BTS) - The Dire Wraith who had adopted Brock's form returned to his family's home, duping them into believing her to be their father.

(Rom I#50 - BTS) - Skrull warriors, seeking to eradicate the Dire Wraiths (who were apparently a variant of their race), arrived in Clairton.

(Rom I#50) - Taking human form, the Skrulls knocked on the Jones' house's door. Holding Nell, Lorraine answered and asked if she could help them. After one of the Skrulls noted that his detector had assured her to be human, Lorraine correctly inferred that this reference meant that the visitors were not human. She informed "Brock" of this as he approached and asked if they could be Wraiths.

jones-lorraine-torp-rom50-faceAs the Skrulls' detector confirmed "Brock" to be "the enemy," the impostor told her that they could not be Dire Wraiths because "he" was. Lorraine cradled Nell and stared, uncomprehending as mystic fire flowed from her husband's fingertips and blasted the night-caller. The Skrulls adopted their true forms and blasted "Brock," who reverted to her Wraith form, shocking Lorraine and the children, seconds before she died and turned to ash.

Unaware that this had been Brock, Lorraine was distraught, but she had little time to mourn as the Skrulls set the house afire to cleanse the Wraith-taint. Unconcerned with Lorraine or the children, the Skrulls allowed her to flee with her children. As the Skrulls re-adopted human form and headed further into Clairton, Lorraine's screams rose with the fires in the night.

When Rom and Starshine returned to Clairton and found multiple houses in flames, Lorraine told them that Brock had been slain and that there was another group of aliens assaulting Clairton.

After the Skrulls, Rom and Starshine had eradicated the Wraiths from Clairton, Lorraine asked what they were to do now, and Rom told her to bury your dead, rebuild your homes and gird yourselves for battle as the war continued.

(New Warriors I#73 (fb) - BTS) - After Brock's death, Lorry took the kids and went into hiding. She sent the Torpedo suit to his cousin, Phillip Jeffries, in a box and it eventually ended up in the hands of Phillip's son, Mike Jeffries.

Years later, Mike and his friend Michiko Musashi shared the duties of wearing the suit, taking turns to be a hero under the name Turbo.

(New Warriors I#73 (fb) - BTS / New Warriors I#73-74 - BTS) - After Dire Wraith queen Volx killed Mike, Michiko continued as a solo heroine.

Comments: Created by Marv Wolfman and Bob Brown.

Lorraine was very laid back and supportive of Brock. She was briefly upset when he revealed his super-heroic identity, and she sometimes wished he weren't a hero so he could be home with his family, but she generally rolled with whatever happened.

With Lorraine not having appeared since Rom#33, I would not have recognized her in Rom#50 if she weren't clearly identified, as her hair was uncharacteristically black, and her facial features were completely different. I guess it's a woman's prerogative to dye her hair, and artistic license for the different appearance.

Dan Jones looked like he was perhaps 4-5 years old when he first appeared in a 1977 story. With the sliding time scale, Dan would have perhaps been 8-10 years old in the New Warriors I#73 story. Having him appear as a massive young man, at least 18-20-years-old seemed way off, and it bothered me until it was revealed that this wasn't actually Dan Jones, but just the Dire Wraith queen Volx posing as him. Still, you'd think the age discrepancy would have clued in Mike...although we don't really know how long he had to think about it before Volx slew and replaced him.
It wouldn't have been out of reason for Volx to have also slain Maggie and her parents to prevent them from reporting Mike's death, but there's not anything to support that.
Similarly, it is quite possible that Volx tracked down Lorraine Jones and her kids Ann, Nell and Daniel in the process of tracking the Torpedo suit to Brock Jones' cousin Phillip, and having slain them as well, but there's also nothing to support that.
I prefer to think that Volx did not kill those others, but we'll never know for sure until/unless it is spelled out in-story somewhere.
Torpedo's most recent Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe entry (Defenders: Strange Heroes#1 (February, 2012) ) at least said this:

NOTE: The Wraith queen Volx later impersonated Dan Jones and tracked down Mike Jeffries; however, she apparently did not slay Dan to steal his identity, as she assumed an adult form, while Dan should still be a young child.
