History:

(Spaceman#5/1 (fb) - BTS) - The Ice People were an enduring civilization on their icy planet, but they were hunted and killed by predatory ice monsters that almost wiped them out. The Ice People developed freezing weaponry that put the giant creatures in suspended animation. The Ice People remained fearful of the creatures with the death penalty for locals who released the monsters, but only freezing for foreigners. Many centuries passed until a scientific expedition from Earth in 2050 led by Major Wadsworth Perry found the uncharted planet and landed. The humans began digging out the ice monsters but were stopped by Ice People who froze them and left them undisturbed on the surface. The Ice People did nothing with Perry's spaceship too.

(Spaceman#5/1) - In 2075, valiant Earth space patrollers Speed Carter and Johnny Day were forced to crash-land their spacecraft on the ice planet. They discovered the ice monsters and the humans, and chose to defrost the humans first, finding it to be the lost scientific expedition. Perry and his crew recovered quickly, but Ice People appeared. Their leader Snowczar ordered the intruders be frozen and the others blasted the humans with their Freeze Firearms before the humans could reach their own guns. Almost completely frozen, Carter was still able to negotiate with Snowczar, who recognized his sincerity, and explained the situation and penalty. Carter promised no more human interference in digging up the ice monsters. Snowczar's lieutenant Brrak demanded they be frozen but was denied. Carter and the humans were thawed out, but Brrak disarmed them and led a coup against Snowczar. Brrak unleashed several deadly ice monsters to destroy the others while he and his traitorous band attempted to take off in Carter's damaged spaceship. But the sputtering jets drew the attention of the monsters and they began ripping it apart. Meanwhile, Carter, the humans, Snowczar and his loyal Ice People fled in Perry's old spaceship. Carter turned and let loose old atomic shells, obliterating their foes. Carter landed and Snowczar promised peace and security for his people. Carter affirmed that peace is the reward for all those who have faith.

The Ice People may have later begun a treaty (or even joined) the United Planets Organization.

CLARIFICATIONS:
Ice People have no known connections to:

Brrak

Brrak was in a senior command position under the Ice People's leader Snowczar. He was part of the small detachment that confronted Speed Carter and Johnny Day plus the freshly thawed-out time-lost explorers under Major Wadsworth Perry. Brrak aggressively pushed that the offworlders be frozen but Snowczar overruled him in favor of negotiation. Brrak disarmed the humans and led a coup against his leader, backed by several loyal fellow Ice People. Brrak unleashed dangerous ice monsters to attack the others while his Ice People escaped to Carter's spaceship, intent on taking over the icy world of his people. But the sound of the damaged engines attracted the ice monsters, which ripped apart of the spaceship and the traitorous Ice People. Carter took Perry's old spacecraft and bombed the monsters, killing any surviving Brrak's traitors as well.

Wadsworth Perry

Major Wadsworth Perry led a scientific expedition into uncharted space and came across the frozen world of the Ice People in the year 2050. He found the planet seemingly devoid of life except for monstrous creatures resembling prehistoric dinosaurs frozen in ice. His team tried to thaw one out but angry Ice People suddenly appeared. Their penalty for unleashing a dangerous beast was death, but foreigners would be frozen into suspended animation where they stood. Twenty-five years passed and valiant Earth defenders Speed Carter and Johnny Day were forced to crash-land on the icy world after a damaging space fight. Carter soon found the frozen Perry and several ice monsters, and chose to thaw Perry's crew first. Quickly recovering, Perry warned of the Ice People, but they had already arrived led by Snowczar and partially froze the intruders. Carter negotiated peace but the treasonous Ice Person Brrak initiated a coup and unleashed several ice monsters to destroy them while the traitors tried to escape in Carter's damaged spaceship. Brrak's plan backfired and Perry's old spacecraft was used to bomb the ice monsters and surviving traitors. Peace was reached with the Ice People. Carter, Perry and the other humans returned to Earth in Perry's old spacecraft.
