History:
(
Blood Hunters I#3 (fb) - BTS) - During a period when vampires used the Darkforce to blot out the sun, allowing them to function freely throughout the day and launch an all-out attack on humanity, the undead bovine Hellcow instead sequestered herself away on a remote farm...

(Strange Tails Infinity Comic#2 - BTS) - Bell Cow Farm,...

Blood Hunters I#3 (fb) - BTS) - and somehow managed to produce a child, Hellcalf. She kept the child hidden in a barn on the farm, presumably to give him time to mature (see comments). Meanwhile the farm outside was maintained by humans who served Hellcow, an unidentified farmhand (until Hellcow devoured him) and Levi. Hellcalf subsisted on his mother's milk, and perhaps also fed from the humans she brought back occasionally to feed herself.

(Blood Hunters I#3) - Eventually the curious Levi entered the barn and discovered Hellcalf. Thinking he could barter for immortality he held a knife to Hellcalf's throat and threatened to burn down the farm if his demands weren't met. Hellcow initially appeared to be willing to acquiesce, but once she got close enough she caught Levi's right hand in her teeth and Hellcalf pounced on the man from behind to bite his throat (her first taste of human blood?)

(Strange Tails Infinity Comic#2 - BTS) - Plants-4-UTM hit Bell Cow Farm with a Cease-And-Desist letter for using their copyrighted seeds, a move that Hellcow saw as a threat not just to her farm but also her child Hellcalf.

Hellcow explicitly identifies Hellcalf as her child in Strange Tails Infinity Comic#2, but given her vampiric nature it's uncertain whether or not she could become pregnant and give birth, even assuming she could find a bull brave enough to mate with her. As such, it is possible that the parent-child relationship between the pair is of the nature of a vampiric sire to one they have turned rather than Hellcalf being Hellcow's biological offspring. On the other hand, Levi's discovery of milk in the barn does raise the odds that Hellcalf was Hellcow's biological offspring, since cows normally only produce milk when they've been pregnant - though perhaps Levi was mistaken in thinking the milk came from Hellcow, and she instead had brought it to the farm from another location.

While we're discussing that milk, Levi assumed this came from Hellcow, which is logical enough given she was the only available source on the farm, but assuming it was, then it raises another question - who the heck milked her? It clearly wasn't Levi, and the other farmhand had been killed too long prior for any milk he'd drawn to still be fresh. Did Hellcow force some of the victims she brought to the farm to milk her before she killed them?

It might mean nothing, but Hellcow's coffin had an inverted cross adorning it, while Hellcalf's coffin had an inverted pentagram. The former was originally a sign of Christian humility, as the Apostle Peter asked to be crucified hanging upside down since he didn't consider himself worthy to die in the exact same manner as Jesus, but of course in more recent times (i.e. the 19th and 20th centuries) it began to be used as a sign of opposition to Christianity, which makes more sense for a vampire that is normally repelled by crucifixes. An inverted pentagram conversely is usually meant to symbolizing the triumph of carnal desire over spirit or triumph against natural order - which might make sense for the child born of a vampire, given that vampire's shouldn't be able to get pregnant. Basically, Hellcow acknowledging that she beat nature in order to satisfy her desire for offspring.

Fiction has written a number of child vampires - Claudia, Homer, Abigail, to name but a few - and one point that each has in common is that in time being stuck in an unaging body for eternity while the mind matures to adulthood leads to some very messed up individuals. Some fiction does depict vampires being able to have children who grow up (more or less) normally and only stop aging when they come into full vampiric powers upon reaching physical maturity, but Marvel vampires haven't usually fallen into that mold. Given that Hellcalf seems to already be a full fledged nosferatmoo, does that mean he's not going to age? Or will he eventually mature to the point where "calf" is no longer appropriate, and he'll become Hellbull?

Had Hellcalf been in the barn all along during the entire time that Levi was at the farm, or was he born shortly before Levi decided to go snooping? Levi noted that he'd never seen Hellcow seem so lifeless as the time when he saw her in the barn - had she only recently given birth? Hellcalf's large size might seem to preclude the possibility he was newborn, but who knows with undead ungulates?

CLARIFICATIONS:
Hellcalf is the offspring of

but has no known connections to:

Levi

Having done some unspecified wrong that he expected would ruin his life forever if "they" caught him, Levi answered a Roxxlist ad for a farmhand working way out in the boonies. At first he didn't know his employer and barely spoke to the other farmhand, who had been already working at the farm when Levi arrived. Eventually however the other farmhand informed Levi that he had been looking for a replacement for a long time, and advised him not to go into the barn. That same night Levi heard the other farmhand call for help, and when he responded he witnessed Hellcow draining the unfortunate man. Spared, Levi decided to simply keep out Hellcow's way, occasionally spotting Hellcow flying out for a while and returning with still fresh victims, a mix of monsters, monster hunters and even monster-hunter cows. One day a vampire hunter escaped from the barn with Hellcow in pursuit, and without thinking Levi impaled him with a pitchfork. Beginning to exhibit signs of serious, potentially terminal, illness such as coughing up blood and growing obsessed with the thought of Hellcow's power, Levi eventually snuck into the barn to see what Hellcow was keeping there, and discovered two coffins, one large and one smaller, as well as a bucket of Hellcow's milk. Drawn to drink it, Levi felt more powerful than he ever had, but was interrupted by Hellcow and then, to his surprise, her offspring, Hellcalf, emerging from their coffins. Thinking he had an unique opportunity, Levi threatened Hellcalf and the farm unless Hellcow granted him immortality. Instead she and Hellcalf devoured him.

The other farmhand

The other farmhand working Hellcow's farm had been there for some time (perhaps even before the vampires plunged the world into darkness), and had been looking for a replacement, presumably believing Hellcow would let him leave once he provided one, as he made it clear to Levi that he intended to leave. Instead Hellcow made him her next meal.

"Van Helsing-looking reject"

A vampire hunter described by Levi as a "Van Helsing-looking reject" was seen by Levi attempting to flee from Hellcow's barn; Levi assumed the man was a victim she had brought there, though it was possible he'd made his own way to the farm intending to slay the undead. Pursued by Hellcow he raced from the barn in Levi's direction, and gained a few moments' grace by throwing some Holy Water into Hellcow's face. He ran for Levi and the truck parked behind him, shouting at the farmhand that they needed to escape, but instead Levi impaled him with a pitchfork, killing him.
