Powers/Abilities: As a ghost, Hector was content to wait peacefully for his wife's return.

When assaulted, he could generate fiery energy, possess a person, levitate surrounding objects, etc.

History:

(Crypt of Shadows#1 (fb) - BTS) - Hector grew up on a block in Atlanta, Georgia. When his parents passed, his wife was moving in.

At some point, Hector died, but his spirit remained on Earth, and he stayed at his former home, awaiting his wife's return for an unrevealed time period.

(Crypt of Shadows#1 (fb) - BTS) - Would-be ghost hunters Ravenette and her boyfriend Vince discovered what they considered to be "dark energies" emanating from site Hector inhabited, and they resolved to "deal with it" to prevent it from lashing out uncontrollably. Vince further believed internet reports that ghost were causing the local construction delays. Via an invocation of restraint spell they found online, they began drawing a pattern on the ground as part of their ritual.

(Crypt of Shadows#1 - BTS) - Vampire hunter Brielle Brooks (aka Bloodline) happened upon Ravenette and Vince, curious/suspicious about their activities. When Ravenette started the spell to cage the spirit, Hector was angered by the arrogant meddlers and lashed out. Brielle tackled Ravenette to save her from the energy unleashed, but then...

Appreciating that Ravenette and Vince's attempts to control the spirit were what had caused it to lash out, Brielle grabbed the possessed Ravenette and told the spirit she knew that it was only attacking the people who had hurt it and that if it stopped fighting her, she could help it.

Hector released Ravenette, noting that it didn't hurt anymore, and she and Vince fled. When Brielle tried to go after them, the materializing Hector asked her not to, as he was tired and sick of fighting. As Brielle greeted him, Hector was surprised that she was not running in fear of him, but she replied that she did not run from sweater vests in general, and that she felt that he had been the victim there. He appreciated that she could see the real him, rather than a shadow or a monster, and she promised him that she would make sure that Ravenette and Vince allowed him to move on.

After they introduced themselves, Hector explained how he was waiting for his wife to come home. Brielle advised him that the property had been bought up by some realtors after the fire that burned down half the homes, and that his wife had probably moved away.

Hector countered that there were many ways to return home, and perhaps he was waiting for her to join him in the afterlife, which he could accept that, although he admitted he did not know for how long he had been waiting.

Brielle told him she would not interrupt his waiting but he had to promise not to start trouble, and he assured her that he was content that whatever they built there would not move him. Sitting into a chair he formed, he added that he hoped his wife lived a long and beautiful life, and that he did not mind waiting a bit longer.As he faded from view, Hector thanked Brielle.

Bummer that Hector did not get a last name...it would make him a lot more memorable.

Brielle commented that Ravenette and Vince were trying to keep Hector there for their magic experiments, although I'm not certain how she gained such knowledge, as it didn't come up in the story. They were definitely trying to contain him, but what their plans were after they had accomplished that was not revealed...but perhaps Brielle could tell from the spell, the energies and/or something she saw on their phones?

This profile was completed 04/18/2026, but its publication was delayed as it was intended for the Appendix 25^th anniversary 's celebratory event to represent Bloodline (Brielle Brooks).
