History:
(X-Force I#129 (fb) - BTS) - John Lopez grew up in a 'tyrannical polygamous sect' and he struggled with anxiety, frequently wetting the bed.

(Weapon X II#9 (fb) - BTS) - John's father, Mr. Lopez, often took him to Yankees games growing up, and John enjoyed playing stickball with Manny, Jesus, and Hector. John's father then spent years in jail and rehab.

(Weapon X II#½ (fb) - BTS) - John felt like a loser his entire life, even after discovering he had the mutant ability to generate small streams of water from his hands. He called himself Washout.

(Weapon X II#½) - John attempted to try out, in front of Orphan, for the X-Force reality show, but they laughed at him.

(X-Force I#129) - During Washout's try-out, he splashed water on his opponents, as the members of X-Force made fun of him on the air, wondering if his water powers manifested because of his old bed-wetting habits.

(Weapon X II#½) - Outside, the Director (Malcolm Concord) invited John to come and work for him, saying he saw tremendous potential in him. John reluctantly agreed, but went with the Director.

(Weapon X II#8 (fb) - BTS) - Washout was given a power-boost that did long-term damage to his biology without him knowing it.

(Weapon X II#½ - BTS) - The Director and Brent Jackson experimented on Washout, giving him finer control over his powers, allowing him to form shapes out of water, turn himself into water, and to draw the water out of other objects.

(Weapon X II#½) - At the orders of the Director and Jackson, Washout practiced his powers on an agent named Moreels, taking all of the moisture of the man's body and accidentally killing him.

(Weapon X II#1) - Washout accompanied the Weapon X team in slaughtering the new Zodiac, with Washout himself drowning Pisces and Capricorn, so they could recruit Madison Jeffries for the Director. Later, Washout saw Kane get a promotion on the team, as Brent Jackson complained about it. The Director sent an enthusiastic Washout on a mission with Jackson to recruit the teleporter Locus, but they found her already dead, at the hands of a long-gone Sabretooth.

(Weapon X II#4 (fb) - BTS) - Washout joined Weapon X in questioning Toad and the Marauders about Sabretooth.

(Weapon X II#4) - Washout and Weapon X attacked Blob and Avalanche about Sabretooth. They tortured the mutants after capturing them, with Washout drowning them repeatedly, before Weapon X left the men tied up.

(Weapon X II#5) - Washout joined Weapon X in apprehending a family of mutants, including Mr. and Mrs. Taylor and their children, Billy and Wendy.

(Weapon X II#8) - Washout looked in a mirror and saw his skin flaking off badly. As Brent Jackson explained that the Director's manipulations were drying out Washout, who likely had a week to live, Washout's finger broke off.

(Weapon X II#9) - Washout went back to Yankee Stadium to be with his childhood memories. He went to the Bronx and considered visiting his father, but after seeing his dad happy, he chose to leave him alone.

(Weapon X II#10 (fb) - BTS) - Washout returned to Weapon X and donned a blue costume. He joined with Brent Jackson, Sauron, and Wild Child and chose to turn against the Director.

(Weapon X II#10) - Washout and the others approached the Underground, seeking an alliance to take down the Director.

(Weapon X II#11) - Washout returned to the base and attacked the Director directly, intending to kill him for his betrayal. Washout knocked out the power supply in the Weapon X compound, then he made the water boil around the Director's form, but Washout's powers gave out on him and he died before the Director did.
